NARS Gaiety Blush
NARS Spring 2012: Gaiety Blush
NARS Gaiety Blush ($28.00 for 0.16 oz.) is described as a “bright candy pink.” It’s a light-medium cotton candy pink; it has a strong blue base, so it reads cool-toned. It has decent to good color payoff, but it tends to need layering and building to achieve color if you are light-medium or darker. Compared to some of NARS’ other blushes, which may be considered hyper-pigmented, it is rather soft and you won’t need a light hand with it. It has a natural matte finish, which means it doesn’t look totally flat but still looks mostly matte against the skin. MAC Azalea Blossom is darker and purpler. I don’t think I own NARS Desire, which seems like it may not be quite as cool-toned. NARS Angelika has less of a blue-base, is more of a medium pink, and includes sparkle.
The texture is very soft and finely-milled, and the lightness in color certainly saves it from looking too cool-toned against my skin tone, so I don’t think the blue-base would make it a no-go for warmer skin tones. It will definitely flatter cooler complexions, though. When I tested the wear of NARS’ newest blush, it wore for eight hours and looked fairly good at that point.
Where to Buy: NARS on January 13th, $28.00
The Glossover
This spring certainly has a theme: light pink blushes--and they tend to work best on light to light-medium skin tones. Though many of NARS' blushes, even their lighter shades, tend to be very, very pigmented, this one is not particularly intense. I would recommend medium-dark to dark skin tones check it out in store.

Product & Review FAQ
Where can I purchase it? How much is it?
NARS on January 13th, $28.00.
Is it limited edition?
No.
Any dupes?
MAC Azalea Blossom is darker and purpler. I don't think I own NARS Desire, which seems like it may not be quite as cool-toned. NARS Angelika has less of a blue-base, is more of a medium pink, and includes sparkle.
I'm fair and cool-toned and this blush is AH-MAZING on me! If you have the right coloring, this blush is a must-have! Someone commented that it looks a little chalky and it's not chalky at all.
this looks exactly like an elf blush i have (its called "pink passion"). I would say, spend $3 on the elf blush (based on what Christine says, it is exactly the same) as opposed to spending $28 on the NARS blush. I have never tried a NARS blush, but I can pretty much guarantee that the quality is better than Elf.
This looks so great for my fair skin! The cotton-candy pinks always seem to have sparkles in them which I tend to avoid. I must test this out in store :)
Pink Swoon is not so delicate a blush as Gaiety, honestly speaking I have more than 40 blushes here ( Nars, M.A.C, Chanel, T. Leclerc, Lancôme, Benefit, Cargo ) and they are really all different and look diffent on my skin ( medium ). That's why I think this one is pretty. François Nars is a very talented artistic Director of his own brand, almost every Nars product is close to perfection.
I am so attracted to these kinds of colors! So pretty! Wish it was a little bit bolder on skin though.
It looks like pink swoon kind of when swatched? Oh and is the price $24 or $28? You have two different prices listed so I was just wondering. Thanks for the review! It is very much appreciated :)
I am so in love with NARS blushes, thanks to all your reviews. Now, if you want to make our purses still lighter, please review all.. :) !!
That is so pretty on you! I'm a NC42 gal, can you please do a tute on pink eyeshadows? I'm interested in using pink eyeshadows but they scare me. :/
Will be skipping this, I already own Desire and Azalea Blossom. But my pink-blush-obsessed conscience is urging me to get it. :(
I'm buying this. I'm fair and need a new pink to replace the Bobbi Brown pink I've used up. Thanks for the review~
LoVinG the lipstick on you! And what are you wearing on your eyes. Your eyes look amazing. The blush is lovely but the eyes and lips are fabulous!
Wow, this is really pretty cool-toned, but you pull it off very well! I'm just a blush beginner so I might want to first stick to warm-toned ones that I know will work on me. Give me a bit of time and I'll start experimenting for sure!
Pink Swoon, Well Dressed, Azalea Blossom, Angelika, Desire, Hang Loose, Overdyed... I do not need this!!! I sure as heck want it, though!!
Will this be available at Sephora? Is this different enough on application from Mac Pink Cult to own both? Can you compare them? Thank you.
The color looks nice on you. It is a very soft pink that looks subtle and smooth. However, the swatch looks a bit chalky. Despite it looking nice on you, I would save my money for something else like NARS Lhasa eyeshadow. :)
Christine, how does this blush compare to Benefit's Hervana? This one seems a little cooler, but I don't know how heavily swatched the blush is in your photo. One of my New Years resolutions is to cut down on the number of dupes I buy. lol Thanks!
Hervana is not as cool toned nor is it as pigmented - Hervana is much lighter. I show a heavy swatch and a blended out swatch so you can see the color in the post!
gorgeous lipstick! (nice blush too, just totally wrong for my skin tone, haha!) what lipstick are you wearing?
It looked a little difficult to carry in the pan but it looks wonderful on you. The finish is beautiful - not a flat matte at all!
