MAC Viva Glam VI Lipstick
MAC Viva Glam VI Lipstick
MAC Viva Glam VI Lipstick ($14.50 for 0.10 oz.) is described as a “warm terracotta-plum with pearl,” and it has a lustre finish. Lustre finishes have sheerer color coverage, and it is definitely true with Viva Glam VI. This is a very easy to wear color, because it’s incredibly neutral–not just in the color itself, which is a rosy terracotta, but it”s not too warm or cool. Like many of the other shades in the Viva Glam family, it is wearable across skin tones.
It wears just under three hours on me (I typically average four), and I find that lustre finished lipsticks are not moisturizing. I also find that this particular finish doesn’t always apply evenly. It is vanilla-scented, like other MAC lip products are, and the tube has metallic red detailing in the logo and inside the tube in the spirit of Viva Glam. 100% of the selling price of each Viva Glam lipstick goes towards the MAC AIDS Fund.
Where to Buy: Nordstrom, $14.50
The Glossover
I wish lustre finishes were more moisturizing and applied more evenly. I find that because they do not last long, you are often left with random shimmer bits and bobs, while the color fades quickly.

Product & Review FAQ
Where can I purchase Viva Glam VI? How much is it?
Nordstrom, $14.50.
Is it limited edition?
No.
Hi Christine. I asked this on another post but I'm not sure you saw it. I’ve noticed that at lot of my lipsticks, my MAC cream colour bases and Illamasqua liquid metals seem to be “sweating” (despite it not being that hot in the UK!). Is this normal? Will they be OK if I leave them like that? Thanks!
it complements your skintone absolutely great! it looks fabulous on you! almost can't stop looking :)
Its really strange that people dont find lustres moisturizing. I mean if you look at the ingredients there is nothing that should be drying.... actually the opposite.
I love MAC Viva Glam Cyndi, luckily my Nordstrom had plenty of it available last week.. I bought 4 of them, but seriously MAC shd make permanent.
TOTALLY agree with making VG Cyndi permanent!!!! I actually missed out on it (DOH) but have the lipglass! <3
This is one of my favorite lipsticks. It does not look that sheer on me at all. it is a very nicely pigmented plum color on me. I love it and although I agree about the lustre finish lipsticks, this one isn't that drying (maybe I got a good one of the batch). Maybe it looks different on me because I am also light with warm undertones.
Too bad it doesn't look more like it does in the tube, because I'd wear that color in a heartbeat. Swatched it's just "meh", oh well, it's not like I really "need" another lipstick...
Christine, do you have the viva glam VI in the lipglass ? I find the lipstick and lipglass are slightly different in color, do you?
I just happen to have this on right now. Great colour but it looks darker on me. Also have VGV which is also a fav.
This was the first MAC lipstick I got and still one of my favorites! I also love the fact that it's a Viva Glam, so I'm sure I will repurchase it.
This one is one of my HG lipsticks surprisingly! :) I love how wearable it is on my NC30/NC35 complexion. Great enough to be an everyday go-to-lipstick for me. Lustres are my favorite and the one that I have currently is very moisturizing and it sits comfortably on my lips too :)
if you have the mac naked rose lipliner with this... it makes your lips gorgeous! The only reason i bought this...
You make everything look gorgeous! I wouldn't have thought twice about this but seeing it on makes me want it.
That color looks smashing on you, Christine. I love the lustres, too--will definitely have to pick this one up.
This & Viva Glam V are 2 of my favorite lipsticks that MAC makes. I can make it be any color I want depending on what lipliner I put underneath. I've worn it with everything from Vino to Cherry to Chicory & it always looks amazing.
This is an everyday color for me, I love it! I get really nice color, but then again my lips are a lot more pigmented than yours. While lustres might not be moisturizing, I like then a heck of a lot better than creamsheens, which just slide around everywhere.
I also find lustre finishes drying. Although I love my Viva Glam V, it sucks the life out of my lips.
i'm not a fan of lustre finish, though the first gaga VG was all right. this shade photographs really nicely on you!
Just goes to show you, you really gotta swatch stuff! This looks scary dark in the tube, but really looks quite sheer on! Crazy!
This is one of my favorites. I have a light skintone w/ warm undertones, and I find this lipstick very flattering & easy to wear. It's funny that you don't find the lustre finishes very moisturizing because my lips tend to be dry and MAC's lustre finish is my favorite. It feels very comfortable, almost glossy on my lips and doesn't dry them out. I never have to wear lip balm under a lustre finish lipstick.
Lustres are almost drying on me - I wouldn't call them drying, but they're right on the borderline for me :(
I'm with you guys! Lustres have never dried out my lips and feel very moisturizing! Love this finish and color.
I know! It looks deceptively dark in the tube. If it were darker, I would buy it. I have been wanting to support the MAC AIDS program.
