MAC Spring Colour Forecast Review & Round-up

OVERALL, I think Spring Colour Forecast is so large that you’re bound to find at least one or two things that appeal to you. (If you don’t, kudos to you, and I want some of whatever you’re drinking!) It’s hard to pick must-haves, because it still ends up rattling off like a laundry list of products, so I’m just going to go with it, and you can pick and choose depending on what kind of budget you’re on. I know some of you have been saving up for this collection since last year! I do, personally, think MAC went a bit overboard with this collection–it’s just so, so enormous. There are too many products to look at, and I think the rumor about them releasing one per week may have given people an opportunity to feast and enjoy… rather than feast and DEVOUR!
The release date is officially February 11th, but since it’s already online, it may have been moved up by a week to February 4th. Call your local store either today (2/3) or tomorrow (2/4) to see if they’re putting it out early. I’ve asked around, and I’ve only been able to confirm February 11th, but sometimes these are really last minute changes! But call first, so you don’t waste a trip.

This was a good week for me and MAC! I was really drawn to the purples of Forecast 3, but when I checked them out in the store, the pinks were better for me. I ended up buying Blush Ombre in Azalea Blossom; Lipglass in Electric Fuchsia; Crush Metal Pigments Stacked 1; Mineralize Foundation; and from last year's Rose Romance, Beauty Powder in Blush of Youth.
Hi Christine, Would you say Gold Dust lipglass is similar to Gold Rebel lipglass? Would it be neccesary to have both? Thanks!
Gold Rebel is golder, but I don't think you have to have both!
This is what I ended up with from this collection: Ripe peach blush ombre Azalea blossom blush ombre Colour 4 quad Colour me coral lipstick Ember glow lipglass I wanted victorian lipstick but it was all sold out. I also pick up the new Viva glam gaga along with Pink plaid lipstick and Nymphette lipglass. I'm loving everything I got and would definately recommend. Thanks Christine! Without your help my selection would have been more complicated. Have a great weekend!
I am so getting Phlox, Lavender Wind and Cultreclash lip products. Yes, yes, I know phlox is super sheer, but it has red, purple and blue reflects glitter in it! But this collection is just too big, good thing I don't wear eyeshadows. Thanks for all the swatches and everything, keep up the good work :)
So I actually didn't get as much as I thought I would. I ordered (and just got today) Perky, Rosy Outlook, Nanogold and Straw Harvest e/s, Gold Dust and Culture Class l/g and Phlox lipstick. I swatched everything else in store and nothing really appealed to me. I tried on Colour Me Coral and it was WAY to frosty, a lil' TOO early 80's!!! Maybe if i was more tanned. I disliked the blushes, I prefer much more clear colours so I passed. I did like Laugh a Lot and Raddichio (sp?) but I don't wear that much medium to bright coloured lipstick so I passed. I really do like Phlox for that reason (being a glaze) and layered with Culture Clash it's a beautiful clear spring pink :)
I happily ended up with Hot, Hot, Hot - Fresh Salmon and Radicchio lipsticks. I also exchanged an eyeshadow for Da Bling. I was on the mad hunt for Azalea Blossom or Ripe Peach blush. everyone is sold out making me want it even more...actually my yearning will die down soon.

So far, I got LaLa and Very Violet eyeshadows, Bubblegum, Radicchio, Rose Maiden and Colour Me Coral lipsticks, and Hush, Hush Rose, Electric Fuchsia, and Cha Cha lipglasses. I still plan on getting Straw Harvest, Perky and Hot Hot Hot eyeshadows, Victorian and Fresh Salmon lipsticks, and Culture Clash, Kumquat, Purple Rage and Almondine lipglasses. That is assuming I can find them all once I get the money.

Wow, what a collection. Loved it all, but held off from going overboard! My haul: Da Bling (didn't have it already) Blush ombre - azalea blossom Lipglass - hush, hush, rose and culture clash Crush metal pigments in Staked 1 Both quads Beigeland, Bubblegum And Lady Gaga Viva Glam in Gaga - so pretty! Cannot wait for the Liberty of London collection - I love the LE stuff!
For Vday my guy let me pick up Ripe Peach, Victorian l/s, Straw Harvest e/s, Hot, Hot, Hot e/s and Cha Cha l/g...love the coral collection!

Great collection! I picked up Electric Fuchsia l/g, Bubblegum l/s, Cyndi l/s, Colour 4 Quad, and Pink Burst l/s. I'll be picking up Victorian and Hush Hush Rose tomorrow.
Just bought Laugh-A-Lot, Purple Rage, and the bronzey warm eyeshadow quad! Thank you for the swatches -- they help narrow the search and focus when it's such a big collection!!!
Do you ever take into consideration darker skintones when creating these posts? i.e. NC/NW 40 or darker? Seems like the recs are all for the pale/medium tones.
I recommend products that are high quality - well pigmented, deliver where they should, and/or creative/different etc. - I don't think about skin tones at all when I make recommendations.
OK, so my wallet hates me now. did a huge haul last night and am pretty happy all around. thanks again christine for so many detailed notes and recommendations- it really helped me figure out what i wanted. (and, in fact, i was right in all cases but one- the victorian lipstick just looked awful on me, seemed to go very organe-y for some reason *sob*.) trying out the colour 4 quad today with the viva glam cyndi lipstick.

i know! i even went back and tried it on again today w/ my boyfriend (he's surprisingly god with the opinions), in the hopes that it was just the lighting. no go. picked up the two viva glams instead.
I went yesterday to macys and got the Electric fushia lipglass . Nothing else really caught my eye. I originally wanted the pigments , but I felt that the packaging is something that I would get from walmart . The Electric Fushia lipglass truly is flattering , its so cute on my brown skin with naturally pink lips

LOL! Shouldn't we wait for your Friday Haul to post what we got? ;) Going to MAC was the only good thing that happened today (super late bus = late to class = almost the weekend - anticipation of 2week Olympic break = tired). I was so excited today. My MAC counter had a Warm&Cozy event (2 months after the release is weird) so the place was buzzing. So anyways I got: Straw Harvest Eyeshadow & Rose Maiden Lipstick I plan on going back for: Victorian Lipstick, Lala Eyeshadow and Colour 4 quad

Just picked up electric fuschia, fresh salmon, straw harvest, perky, hot hot hot, quad 4, kumquat, gold dust, ripe peach and VG Cyndi!!! Didnt expect to pick up VG Cyndi but that is usually what happens when I go to mac :)
today I picked up Bubblegum, Electric Fuchsia & 2 of Viva Glam Gaga! I'm still thinking about getting Azalea Blossom. & I was going to get Victorian, but I didn't really like how it looked on me. Maybe I'll have to go back and check it out again, lol!
Truly an overwhelming collection =O! Thank you so so much for all your hard work to help your fellow makeup addicts haul bigtime! Since i am a coral lover, i will be hauling Fresh Salmon l/s, Color Me Coral l/s,all the l/g in the coral collection, Straw Harvest eyeshadow and Quad 4, because I also love bronzes and golds!

I got Ripe Peach, Straw Harvest, Perky, Nanogold, Cultureclash and Ember Glow. I'm also waiting for Phlox, Radicchio and Laugh A Lot to arrive in the mail. I'm thinking about getting Fresh Salmon and Azalea Blossom before they're sold out. I would've gotten Colour Me Coral, but it sounds so similar to Costa Chic.

Thank goodness the snowstorm has let up. I was determined to go out and get this haul today!!! I ended up getting Laugh A Lot l/s, Fresh Salmon l/s, Victorian l/s, Ember Glow l/g, Kumquat l/g, Cha Cha l/g, LaLa e/s, Hot Hot Hot e/s. I might go back to take a second look at the rest of the collection I had the rugrats with me and couldn't concentrate. I also got Lady Gaga l/s and Brush 219. I'm so excited. Oh by the way my BF surprised me and bought everything as an early V-day gift!!!

I actually behaved myself today :) Only got the purple quad, Ripe Peach blush ombre, and Viva Glam Cyndi. I did try Gaga, but I'm still on the fence with it as I'm not sure it's something I would wear very much. I might end up going back for more since my boyfriend decided to make these my V-day gift. That's if I don't end up getting my LV Speedy this weekend :P

I hauled. Thank goodness the boy was buying some, otherwise i couldn't have done as well as I did. Stack 1 crushed metals, Raddichio lipstick Phlox lipstick Perky eyeshadow Hothothot eyeshadow Azalea blossom blush Ombre. Glad I swatched. Straw harvest was too yellow on me, wasn't thrilled with nanogold. the Peach blush was WAY too orange on my pink paleness. Decided very violet is similar to the vibrant grape that isn't limited edition, and lala is similar to a few of the pinks I already own from other lines. I just went with tones I had the least of. I also loved laughalot lipstick, and rose maiden(?) lipstick. Really tried to weed though. I totally broke my budget!

Ugh - I just hauled purple rage, rose maiden (LOVE and am contemplating a back-up), and pink burst. And I also got VIva Cyndi. When I go back I'll probably get bronzilla, hush hush rose, and try out fresh salmon and raddicio... I am not quite sure whether the stacks are worth it for me because I already have somewhat duplicable colors - but I really like them. The makeup artist said that they don't crease all day... but everything creases on me even with UDPP so I'm not very optimistic.
The pigments don't crease? I haven't heard that before, LOL. I would expect them to crease unless you used/applied them with mixing medium (whether by MAC or homemade).
Yeah, I didn't know that would be a selling point on the stackables. She could just be one of those lucky people nothing creases on :( And FYI, on the MAC website, a couple of your 'must-have' recommendations are sold out - bubblegum and electric fuschia. I guess they could just be the standout colors anyways but I think your recommendations did it :) I would have been lost looking at everything in store without your review first! I doubt I'm the only one :P

the mua told me that you dont need a base for the pigments because they are sticky . Idk that just sounds weird
I do think it's kind of odd... like maybe I could see that, but in reality, not so much.
Just picked up Ripe Peach blush ombre, Kumquat lipglass, Radicchio lipstick, Fresh Salmon lipstick, .....and Feline Kohl Power & Viva Glam Cyndi! Love EVERYTHING! :D
