Chanel Star Glossimer
Chanel Star Glossimer

The Most Dazzling Lips at the Ball

Chanel Star Glossimer ($27.00 for 0.19 oz.) is a sheer gloss strewn with silver and white flecks of dazzling shimmer. My lips looked so slick and wet and juicy as soon as I applied Star; I was like, “OOH, LA LA!”

And if you have not witnessed the magic that is Chanel Glossimers dancing like sunlight as it shimmers against water, I urge you to try it sometime. The effect is delightful. Star seemed to have that gorgeous shimmering effect more than other Glossimers–the way it glinted even indoors was phenomenal.

I went through some of the Glossimers I owned to see if there are comparable ones, and the closest I found was Futile (from Spring 2010), which looks more similar on than it does in a side-by-side swatch. The warmth of Futile is less noticeable when it’s worn. Star has a lot more white and silver shimmer flecks–just a smidgen brighter, but again, the difference is minute. I was also reminded of MAC Sugarrimmed Dazzleglass.

Glossimers have a medium-thick consistency that’s just a touch tacky, but I wouldn’t describe them as sticky at all. I tend to get about three to four hours of wear with these, and the other day, I wore this shade over Stunning Rouge Coco and the combo lasted quite well for eight hours (even with a meal!).

RECOMMENDATION: It’s virtually colorless on my lips, so if you prefer more pigmented glosses/shades, this is definitely a pass for you. If you love products like MAC Dazzleglass, Glossimers are totally up your alley.

I love it. My kind of gloss for sure. Beautiful!

I know the colors in the tubes are different, but could easy lounger be a somewhat dupe? I know it looks nothing like this in the tube, but I’m talking about sheerness wise, and the flecks of glitter in it..

    • Easy Lounger would definitely compare well — it has that crazy pretty Chanel shimmer going on (it’s one of the few MAC lipglasses I’ve seen have that kind of sparkle).

OOH LA LA I think I’m definitely going to have to invest in this little gem, how gorgeous is it, Christine!! :) <3

  4. I purchased this online with the Rouge Coco and I adore this shade! Frankly, it is sheer but I quite like wearing Glossimers by themselves…and I am a self-proclaimed Glossimer freak so of course I had to purchase it! I’m so happy you dedicated a post on this Christine, thank you!!!

I remember a time many years ago when Chanel Glossimers where more opaque… I haven’t bought one in a long time, are there any opaque still? I remember one I had which was ultra hot pink called “Erotic” or “Erotica” ….I also had a pretty opaque shimmer red one and two pink-lilac ones.

Come to think of it this was about four to five years ago!!
Actually here is a picture I found on my photobucket of the Glossmiers from 4 or so years ago lol

    • They put out a few that seem to be more opaque, but in general, they’re on the sheerer side!

    • I agree, some shades are quite sheer but the shimmer is just incredible. My counter still sells most of the Glossimers from the Lumieres Celestes collection which are very pigmented, check them out if you don’t have any of those already =D.
