Chanel Mimosa Le Vernis

Chanel Mimosa Le Vernis

Chanel Summer 2011: Mimosa Le Vernis

Chanel Mimosa Le Vernis ($25.00 for 0.40 fl. oz.) is a bright, sunshine yellow with golden yellow shimmer. It applied fairly well–there was a touch of streakiness in the initial coat, but the pigmentation was excellent, because the color was nearly opaque on that first coat. I used two coats for even, opaque color coverage and found that worked best. The formula was on the thicker side, but it flowed well, and the drying time seemed faster than usual. I typically get a week of wear with Chanel’s polish using a base/top coat.

This is such a pretty summer color, and it's a really wearable shade of yellow. The warmth of the base color along with the warmth of the shimmer allows the color to brighten the skin rather than giving it a sallow look.

Product & Review FAQ

Where can I purchase Mimosa? How much is it?

Nordstrom, $25.

Is it limited edition?

Yes.

Any dupes?

It's a little warmer than China Glaze Happy Go Lucky. It's a touch lighter than Rescue Beauty Lounge Yellow Fever but the two are really similar.

  2. wow looks so great & even on you! I had a really hard time w/application w/this shade only from the collection. Weird!

  3. Wilcoa

Christine, I gotta ask, how do you keep your nails in such good condition? They always look so lovely in your photographs!

    • I really don’t do anything! The only product I have to use is Zoya’s Remove+ which is hearty enough to remove polish but gentle on the skin!

  4. Lara

Like it but yellow is not my color.

  5. Hiromi

The swatches show that it is surprisingly wearble but I wouldn’t buy it if I were just looking at it on a counter.

  7. i’m not really into yellow buuut this is totally amazing!!!
    i MUST have this :D

  8. Resa

Does this bear any similarity to China Glaze’s Lighthouse or am I doing a lazy comparison? LOL

  9. De

I don´t like yellow on my nails even if it is such a great yellow :).

  10. Isa

I love the color. If only I had 25 $ to spend on a nail polish :/

  11. Karyn

Eee I just ordered this! I would have just walked to the counter but people buy the stuff like crazy here in NYC so wanted to be sure I got it. I think it’s going to be FABULOUS!

  12. Nicole

Gorgeous! This color puts me so in the mood for summer! :D

  13. I’d probably be more into this color if it were a cream.

  14. Avatar of Roza Roza

I am definitely splurging on this polish:)

I just don’t care for yellow polishes but they sure seem to be popular! I don’t really like yellow ANYTHING, though. ;)

  17. Wow, this is the perfect shade of yellow~ so pretty!!

  18. That color is HOT! I love it!

This is a gorgeous yellow, but just not $25 worth of unique though!

  20. Jywoi

I decided not to buy just yesterday and then you swatch it and make me want it^^
For once, I’m actually excited about the two other polishes (everybody is talking about mimosa), if they are not too sheere, they could be the perfect neutral/pink I’ve been looking for

    Thank you for the swatches!

  21. I need this yellow, it’s stunning!

  22. Michelle

    any dupes?

  23. katie

This is too happy a color for me! lol

  25. Lah

i think pastel yellows are really cute but on the hand it’s just… argh! i can’t stand to wear yellow polishes.

  26. Avatar of Jill AnGeLwInGz

It looks like shimmery nacho cheese NICE!

  27. emily

I’ve been wanting a good yellow polish but I don’t think I could live with myself spending $25 on one :(

  28. Jazz

I have been looking for a good yellow for the last 3 summers. BUT 25 is too much. I will either go get the china glaze or Piggy Polish has a nice looking yellow too

  29. chips

I bought this the next day it came out, it’s lovely!!

  30. Adria

I am wearing this right now (on my pinkie, will use it for a pedi this week). Walking back from class, all I could do was look at it. The shimmer in the sun is pretty cool.

I think I want Morning Rose, too. Eek!

    Looks good on ya, Christine!

P.S. Did you take the tour of the MAC labs in Toronto with Karen from Makeup and Beauty Blog? Looked like fun!!

  31. Oooo so summery! That is very wearable yellow.

  32. zeldamarie

Ack, I just splurged and ordered Beige Petale and Morning Rose but skipped Mimosa. Now I’m thinking I should have gotten Mimosa and skipped one of the other two… nooo!!

  33. Naz

It’s not an ugly color, but I’m pretty sure it wouldn’t receive such a warm reception if it was from a lower-end brand like China Glaze, or even OPI. Cute, but not worth the money. It does look lovely on you though!

  34. Jany

ran to Walgreens and bought Mellow Yellow for $2 by Sally Hansen Hard Nails and topped it with 1 coat of “Lets Meet” $2 by Sinful Colors nice combo

  35. OMG!!! i’m loving this color! I need to go buy it now before it sells out! Thanks for the post :)

  36. Yellow is too hard to wear for me!

  37. I absolutely love this, I think the shimmer in it makes it even more wearable as it isn’t a flat looking yellow. I can’t wait for this to come out in the UK.

  38. I love bright colors and love this yellow! I think I’m going to have to find a cheaper yellow to try first. I’m not sure how the color will work on me since my skin tone has very strong yellow undertones.

  39. Laura

Maybe I got a lemon, but the first coat was definately not opaque and there’s obvious visible nail line after the second, would you suggest thicker coats?

  40. Caroline

Hey guys a pretty good dupe for this color is Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear in the color Mellow Yellow-super creamy formula, even application, and it’s abot $2!!

  41. Marina

You can find an almost exact dupe in the new Top Speed line from Revlon. It’s the #305 Electric. The price? I paid $4 bucks. Plus, the Revlon formula is better than the Chanel one.
