Chanel Mandarin Rouge Allure Laque Review, Photos, Swatches, Lip Swatches

Chanel Mandarin Rouge Allure Laque

Chanel Mandarin Rouge Allure Laque ($32.00) is the last shade in our seven days of Chanel Rouge Allure Laque feature.

Mandarin is a deep, reddish coral. It’s very, very deep — it’s not exactly the summer coral that comes to mind when I’m thinking about coral lip color. It’s an orange-red base with lighter, coppery orange shimmer. It’s incredibly opaque and goes on full coverage in one layer. It has the same glossy sheen as the other shades, and it has the amazing staying power of intense shades like Dragon. It lasts through hours of talking, eating, and drinking, with only the glossy sheen fading, but the color staying true. Even though these are long-wearing, they don’t dry out lips, but actually keep them fairly hydrated. Mandarin is a deeper, more intense and redder version of Dynastie.

Since I don’t want to just re-write what I say about the formula (since it is the same–if there are any variations, you can be sure I’ll call them out), here’s a quick bullet-point summary.

Pros

  • Satiny, creamy lip color that hydrates
  • Opaque color in one layer–very pigmented
  • Lasts for hours and even through eating/drinking
  • Glossy sheen
  • Looks like a lipstick AND a gloss
  • Easy to travel with
  • Sleek packaging

Cons

  • Pricey at $32 each

  • Product: 29/30
  • Value: 8/10
  • Ease of Use: 5/5
  • Packaging: 4/5

Recommendation: If you like a pop of bright pink on your lips, mandarin has you covered!

I just picked up Mandarin today! Seeing your review and swatches now makes me lust after all of them :D

MUST.... HAVE.... THIS.... COLOR.... (in my best Stevie Kenarban voice)

this is a pretty color but i would get dragon and ming before this one.

Totally understand, Lorna!

Christine - which is your favorite - Dynastie or Mandarin? They look pretty similar.

I like Mandarin a bit more, but I think they're different - Dynastie is a bit darker, not quite as copper/golden, less noticeable shimmer. They are in the same color family, though.

Thanks so much, Christine!

Darn you chanel! Gotta get this one too!

Oh wow this one is just gorgeous! Exactly the kind of lip shade I love too!

I think these need to stop being swatched, otherwise I will end up draining my bank account buying all of these! I previously said that the light bubble-gum coloured laque was my favourite, but I've now changed my mind and this one is my favourite! I know these are expensive, but I find that my lip products do last quite a while because I do not use them all every day. How long would you predict these could last if used only a few times a week?

LOL! You're in luck, Ashley -- this was the last one ;) They'd easily last months. I don't know if I've ever finished a lip product, LOL.

This colour reminds of a colour of lipstick I had from Lancome a long time ago but I just can't remind the colour name. Looks like I have to go take a peek at the Chanel counter.

Ohh! Hope you like it, Amy!

ive never had such a love/hate relationship with a line of lip products before in my life. i love ever single one, but i hate the price :'(

Im sure Im asking something I shouldnt ask, after all youve done for us, but could you make a summary of all of the shades you reviewed, in one post? I think itd be easier for us to choose what to pick! Thanks, Christine, youre great!

hey you can go here: http://www.temptalia.com/tag/chanel-rouge-allure-laque-collection to see all her posts on the laques! hope it helps

I love you, Christine!

LOL! Thanks, Francesca!

I love this one...its my favorite of the bunch so far. Do you think it will show up good one NW 45 maybe lighter /Deep Dark MSF skintone. If not can you recommend a Chanel one that will! Thanks girl

Yes, I do think it would, Megan! :) It's very opaque!

I think this color is gorg, but not sure about it up against my NC45 skin. It's on my wishlist, but just not sure. Looks great for Spring and Summer as well as seems wearable for day to night. I recently purchased this in "Dragon" and it is awesome. Christine's review is right on point (thank goodness).

ALL the colors are FANTASTIC! Wow, Chanel has really out done themselves this time. If I was a master thief I would have them all right now haha! I'm still thinking of getting Imperial at least for Christmas. Thanks Christine for all your fab work! Girl how do you get the lipstick on so perfect? lol

I agree -- really a fantastic product! No problem :) CHANEL! These just make it so easy!! Seriously, this formula is a dream to apply.

Love it ! Now i really want most of them Damn you Christine for showing them lol But even more damn Chanel for making such beautiful products ! Thank you for the swatches !!

Nah don't worry ;) I just wish money would grow on trees and be easier to have :P I would love to get at least one of them but because of MAC I don't have any "make up budget" money anymore this month

I'd love a money tree, too :D

Wow I reallly love and want them alll... Shame about the price though. :(

I know, if they were just a lil' cheaper, they'd be perfect.

waouh ... I really want this one ... well actually, I want nearly all of them. The colors are so vibrant and I like the glossy effect they all have ...

Join the club, Margot :P
