Chanel Spring 2012: Charme Rouge Coco Lipstick
Chanel Charme Rouge Coco Lipstick ($32.00 for 0.12 oz.) is described as a “pink.” Sometimes brands get too creative with their color descriptions, but Chanel could afford to be less glib! It’s a soft, medium pink with very subtle blue undertones and a silver micro-shimmer that gives it a lightly frosted finish. The color payoff is semi-opaque–it gives decent color but there is some translucency in the color so your natural lip color will peek through. MAC Behave Yourself is similar but applies less evenly and perhaps a touch lighter. Dolce & Gabbana Fascination is similar in hue but several shades darker. MAC Speed Dial is a bit darker and has a golden sheen.
The Rouge Coco formula is supposed to be hydrating and have wearable shades with “full-coverage finishes.” Charme is not quite opaque, but it felt more moisturizing than many past Rouge Cocos have felt for me. When I tested this shade, it wore for around three and a half hours before it began to noticeably fade away, but my lips felt just shy of normal in terms of hydration.

The Glossover
The color is extremely wearable while still having some brightness. It should work well for not only spring but for summer--you could even layer a subtle coral gloss on top to make a really summery lip.

I love my RC Mademoiselle but I wish the formula was less drying and there were less frosty shades :( I really want to try the Rouge Allure formula though!
This is such a great pink! I love how girly it looks without getting over the top.
I like the color on you. From experience, though, that shade of pink doesn't mesh well with my lip pigmentation unless the lipstick's absolutely opaque or I want to cover my lips in liner. :( I wish I had a place nearby to swatch Chanel. Of all the luxury lines, they seem to be the most consistent in what they put out.

I have this and love it! It is a pretty and wearable shade. It shows up darker on my lips than in your pics. Very pretty!
For a second there I thought it was going to look like Jersey Rose, but it's so not! Quite a pretty light pink and i agree-wearable! Looks lovely on you!
It's a bit boring... In my opinion.
I love how Chanel imprints their name on the actual lipstick. It is the subtle things like that, that make their name synonymous with class.
A lot of brands now do the same, including cheaper ones like Kiko Makeup. If you like this kind of small pretty details, you should check Paul & Joe's lipsticks! Some have flowers imprinted in the lipstick :) Others are cat shaped :D
