Butter London Lady Muck Nail Lacquer Review, Photos, Swatches
Butter London Lady Muck Nail Lacquer
Butter London Lady Muck Nail Lacquer ($14.00 for 0.4 fl. oz.) is described as a “powdery periwinkle blue, slightly on the grey side and infused with pearl pigment for a soft, sexy sheen.” Whew, talk about a description! It’s a dusty, gray-blue with pale silver-white shimmer. It seemed most comparable to Rescue Beauty Lounge’s Concrete Jungle–but Lady Muck has pale silver shimmer. (You can compare this shade against other blues in the Swatch Gallery.)
It was opaque in two coats, and it had a natural sheen to it, though I think the majority will still prefer a shiny top coat on top. Butter London’s formula on this one has a really even flow, smooth application, and drying time wasn’t long at all. I typically get a week of wear with Butter London’s formula with a proper base and top coat.
I’ve always thought of periwinkle as something a little deeper, with more purple in the mix, compared to this dusty, grayed blue. Googling showed a lot of results, some more to what I always imagined as periwinkle, but there were a few variations that leaned bluer, closer to Lady Muck. Don’t you wish there was some standardized language we beauty enthusiasts could converse in? Butter London negates a lot of the traditional view of periwinkle, because it adds powdery, blue, and grey on top of it, which really does seem like what Lady Muck is all about (so no points taken off for color inaccuracy).

What a nice shade for spring!
Pretty colour! I’ve yet to try BL nailpolishes. Speaking of nailpolishes, I’ve seen a few comments from you saying that you don’t use OPI polishes. May I ask why? I’m just curious if there’s something about the brand I should be aware of! Thanks.
it’s more grey than blue in my opinion. I might be wrong, loving the color though without the glitters.
Really? I’ll say a mix of grey and blue. I’m wondering which dress to wear with this beautiful nail polish. Needless to say that I WANT IT!!!!
Wow, I’m liking this a lot more than I thought I would. It looks too dull and cool in the bottle, but really sophisticated in the swatches. I might have to check this out!
Whatever blue this is, it is gorgeous! I want!
ooo this ones rather beautiful 🙂
i keep hoping youll swatch diamond geezer because in the bottle it looks a stunner
This color is cute… and so opaque, wasn’t expecting that! I’m thinking about ordering some butter london polishes, do you have a favorite? or something that you consider a must-have?
Would you say this is similar to Zoya’s Harley?
Such a cool color!
Love it!!!!!
Omg yes yes yes! I feel like when someone is at a loss to describe a color, it turns out being “taupe” or “mauve.” There is no way an antiquey gold, muted brown, and silvery purple can all be taupes
This looks like a lighter, cooler version of Essie Coat Azure.
wow that is really beautiful!
it looks a lot like orly-pixie dust to me,which is also a gorgeous one.
This is exactly what I was going to say!!
Without comparing to anything else, I would describe this as my idea of periwinkle. What a nice colour!
I got saturated with blue polishes, feeling I needed some to round out my collection. I found other then the dark navys, I did not look good in most of what I had. Now I saw Muck a # of months ago when it came out and it caught my eye. I resisted. Now am a owner of it and really like it for nails – not so much on toes – am into brights on my piggies right now.
Orly Pixiedust, ChG Sea Spray and Illamasqua Raindrops are similar shades. I think Essie and OPI have similar shades too, but can’t recall the shades off the top of my head.
I thought Sea Spray might be, but when I compared, they were pretty different 🙂
I love this color! I wear it with Deborah Lipmann Glitter In The Air on top!
very pretty. i like subtle shades like this
Oh wow, what a unique colour. I saw this in someone else’s review and decided to leave it, but now you’ve made me need to have it!
Hmm…I suppose this could be a very cool-toned, muted periwinkle, ha ha. It’s slate blue to me.
I feel like this shade just screams cinderella!
The colors are lovely, but why did you give it 10/10 on longevity? I’ve tried two different colors and both didn’t last longer than 2 days.
Butter London polishes typically last a week on me (I believe I specified this in the post).
What an ugly name but a pretty color, haha!
Ooooh…this looks like a muted version of WetNWilds blue wants to be a millionaire, still pretty without the multi-colored sparkles:)
bought this after seeing it on here and falling in love with it. it’s an awesome color!!! 😀
Looks to me like a good dupe would be Orly’s Pixie Dust (not in stores anymore but available online)
