Bobbi Brown Tortoise Shell Collection for Fall 2011

Bold glasses are as much a fashion staple as they are a personal statement. Now revered as a stylish accessory, a great pair of frames is a must have (and a great go-to on bad beauty days). Bobbi chooses between her iconic black frames and a pair of tortoise shell frames – ones which served as the inspiration behind her new Tortoise Shell Collection for fall. The Tortoise Shell Collection is Bobbi’s modern take on a classic look.

Stunning shadows in shades ranging from bronze to gold to espresso are housed in gorgeous tortoise shell compacts with gold detailing; one is for lighter skin and the other for darker complexions. To balance the warmer tones on the eyes, cheeks and lips are dressed up in soft nudes. And the good news is that if you do wear glasses, Bobbi designed the collection to complement—rather than compete with—your frames.

    Love the eyeshadow palettes!

  2. adrienne

No doubt it will get compared to the naked palette but I actually think it looks far more high end and the shades all look very wearable. Can’t wait to see some swatches of this in the future :)

  3. That packaging is beautiful – love it!

  4. Love the compact! I’m always a sucker for nice packaging. Oh…and the makeup looks beautiful, too. 😛

  5. I actually like the palette for the medium to darker skin tone one.

  6. tehteh

OMG love it! both the light and dark palettes! I’m sure they won’t be at all budget-friendly though…

  7. I want these eye palettes so much!!
Ok maybe just the second, it looks sooooooooooooo gooooooooood!

  8. Oh wow! I never usually get drawn in for Bobbi Brown palettes but the Bronze palette is gorgeous and the colours are so me! I hope the pigmentation is good because I think I would prefer this over my UD Naked palette which I use so much. As I was scrolling down I saw the top palette and thought it was pretty and I might get it then I saw the second one and just went WOW! The lip colour the model is wearing is great too, will definitely have to check these out. I love the casing for the palettes too, so sophisticated, it looks like dark varnished wood. And a mini brush set! Will have to look at them too as I think Bobbi’s brushes are very good.

Ive never used bobbi brown. Do you think splurging on one of these is a good idea?

    • Eileen

If you like the colors, one of these would be a great introduction to BB. Each palette contains a light, all-over base color and a dark liner color. The rest of the shades can be used alone or layered to create the color effect that you want.

I think the darker palette will be the star of the collection even for those of us with fair complexions.

    • JoElla

Mel, I think so. It is a good way to try various textures of her shadows. for 60.00 you get quite a bit of shadows.

  10. Tabitha

    I need it

  11. Faye

This collection looks like it’s too warm for me :(.

On a side note, the model’s hair color is pretty much an exact copy of mine, highlights, shading, everything (although mine is all natural, not sure about hers). It’s rare for me to see such a close match. I wish her skin tone would have been as good a match as well, then I could have had a better idea about how the makeup would look on me!

  12. Liron

    will you review them?

  13. cait

If it were not so expensive I would be dying to have it – absolutely lovely but absolutely ridiculous is price.

  14. Loving these colors!!!! Bobbi Brown is the queen of wearable shades.

  15. Cindy

A makeup model in glasses! Love it! :)

  16. Shilpa

i love how the model is wearing glasses

  17. AnGeLwInGz

Not too disappointing… because by now I know to expect boring colors from Bobbi Brown.

  18. I’m not really excited by the palettes. Nothing here looks really new. They might be good basics though.

  19. Dana

I think I’m going to have to buy the whole collection lol!

  20. melanie

absolutely brilliant. i LOVE LOVE LOVE the packaging.

  21. In your experience with Bobbi Brown products, has she ever repromoted LE shades? Is it possible for a future palette to have Pewter? :DD

  22. Mariella

I really love both of those eyeshadow palettes but they are pricey! Good think I DON’T live near a retailer for Bobbi Brown or I’d be SOOO tempted (and I have to save my makeup budget this time for Jealousy Wakes and Hocus Pocus, which are much more affordable!)

  23. Amanda Dubs

    wow those are unbelieveable

  24. Pretty container..but I’ll pass. Colors dont seem unique enough. Looks like colors I get from Estee Lauder’s free gift.

  25. vice

I am a sucker for Bobbi Brown and this collection is gorgeous per usual, but, the palette looks VERY similar to the day to night warm palette from around Christmas of last year. The packaging alone makes me love it so I will be checking it out regardless. I just wish BB would put out an affordable palette with more colors in it.

  26. Sarah Sharp

These are up at Nordstrom already.

  27. Sarah Sharp

The eyeshadows are on Nordstrom’s site.

  28. Toni

$60? Bobby must be high on something. Looks nice but I’ll stick to the Naked palatte.

  29. So much love for the tortoiseshell compacts. A couple of weeks ago I bought a pair of bold tortoiseshell frames myself :P. The first palette pictured kind of reminds me of LORAC’s Snake Charmer palette, which I have already. No temptation here, whew!

  30. Adrienne

Ah I got a pair of tortoise shell Chanel glasses for my bday but I find it very difficult to pull off any sort of makeupwhile wearing glasses so back to the store they go for low end ones so I can atleast take my dogs out at night lol

  31. Sallie Simpson

Beautiful! Cannot wait to get my hands on these!

  32. Lovely – I have a pair of tortoise shelled glasses as well. I have always been a fan of the thick, plastic frames. It makes me feel like a naughty librarian!

I’ll have to check out this palette!

  33. MJ

How many neutral brown palettes can they make? Don’t get me wrong, I’m tempted, but gads even the Inglots I bought are all brown neutrals.

  34. Nadine

The model somewhat resembles Rosie Huntington-Whiteley but I doubt it’s actually her because I imagine she’s under exclusive contract with Victoria’s Secret.

  35. Quinctia

I like the look of tortoiseshell, but using it for makeup containers always, always reminds me of the old school Covergirl powder compacts!

  36. Maggie

OMG WANT THIS ENTIRE COLLECTION!!!! D: hopefully the eyeshadow palettes will end up in the cco cuz $60 a pop is too much for my budget 😛

  37. Lori

I’m definitely in love with the packaging.

  38. Glenda

Hmmm, I just fell in love with the Too Faced Naked Palette. Now I see a new love. *sighing*

  39. PJ

I like the med / dk one best because it has 4 sparkle / metallic shadows. The other one has only 3 and a shimmer. The next collection after this one– Marakesh, I think its called— looks even more amazing.

  40. Kendra siler

    This is up or Nordstrom.com

  41. Emily2

Even though I have enough brown/neutral eyeshadows to last me till I die, I think one of those eyeshadow palettes will be my second BB purchase! XD

  42. Maureen

God that shimmery one is GORGEOUS.

  43. Amy

Any kind of glasses leave a big mark on my foundation. :\

  44. Jane

I love the glasses! Is that part of the collection? If it is, I’ll pick that up! lol

  45. sounded great til i saw the shades.. ill pass!

  46. AJC

Is it me or do these palettes look a little Merle Norman?

  47. Sweetiepaper

    Luving the eye shadow palettes!

  48. Dawne

The Bronze one looks right up my alley.

  49. Arianna

honestly speaking bobbi brown eyeshadows have never been my favourite..i dunno why…mac and urbandecay are soo much better interms of eyeshadows…but i do love bobbi brown lipsticks and cant wait to see what they’ve got for me this time :)

  50. Ms Laurence

Nice collection. Prices tend to be really expensive, year after year…
I’ll wait for more comments from users before buying.

  51. tinaan

Another glam palette from BB… they’re beautiful, pricey, and I can’t stop collecting them!

  52. Chloe

i may get the one for light skin as i am pale ( NC15) and then try to pick up the one for darker skins at the cco because both of the palliatives are so beautiful ! love the models lipstick too

  53. Tracy

What’s the brand of glasses she’s wearing.
