Bobbi Brown Cabana Corals: Nectar Shimmerbrick
Bobbi Brown Nectar Shimmerbrick ($38.00 for 0.4 oz.) is new for spring–part of the Cabana Corals Collection–and is a coral lover’s dream. If you love Shimmerbricks and have an affinity for corals and bronzed golds, I think this just may be a new favorite for you. (Also releasing with Cabana Corals is Pink Quartz Shimmerbrick!)
When worn on cheeks, it works as a blusher and highlighter in one, because it packs plenty of color along with a soft frosty shimmer sheen. Although some Shimmerbricks are just a tad too frosty to me at times (at least on cheeks!), Nectar is just right. It hits that sweet spot of color, shimmer, and sheen. It can be applied with a light hand for a softer application or layered for an intense cheek for night time. Since I am an absolute fiend for all things coral, Nectar is most definitely my favorite Shimmerbrick to-date!
Shimmerbricks are a pricey investment, but they’ll last you a long time (or forever, in my case) — you get a whopping 0.4 oz., which makes the cost per ounce just a smidgen more than MAC blushes. Each of the five strips of color swatch beautifully; rich color, intense pigmentation, and smooth to the touch Shimmerbricks can be used on the eyes or cheeks, and you could get a very pretty sunset-esque kind of look out of these shades in addition to its usage of a very coral-bronzed blusher. I like that it can be a multi-tasker, at least. I have to admit, I haven’t worn any Shimmerbricks on my eyes yet but may have to give it try with Nectar.
You can see me wearing it in this look!

Hi Christine! Ilove reading your reviews, i want to try a new highlighter(powder),but i already own albatross and mac strobe. I looking for a more natural glow type. What would you reccomend? thanks!
I use the shimmer brick on my brow bone sometimes, just under my eye brow for a highlight effect. Not really sure if this practice is "out" lol but I still do it! Also I love to use the lightest strip on the bow of my upper lip for a highlight. I am a big fan of BB shimmer bricks. I think the nectar shimmer brick packs more color than previous versions ... I do like the idea of a shimmer brick and a blush all in one step! xo
I got the cheapo version: The Body Shop Shimmer waves :) http://www.thebodyshop-usa.com/makeup/blush/shimmer-waves.aspx Good highlighter too!
do you think the BBSB nectar will showed up in NC40 skin? i really want this but i'm kinda scared that it wont show up.. thank you!
Ohhh so pretty!!! I have been debating about Shimmerbricks and think this one is just up my alley :) Now to find a supplier in Canada.... Anybody know of any in Toronto? Holts?
how does this compare to the apricot shimmer block? I have wanted apricot but I think it is discontinued and my bobbi counter was quick to say check out nectar.
Thanks Christine for the awesome review! I have been totally wanting the apricot SB, but now I'm not sure between nectar and apricot; what do you think? For reference I'm NC15/BB Warm Ivory.
I think either, really. Apricot pulls a little peacher, I'd say, and maybe not quite as pigmented as Nectar. (Though, since you're NC15, I think both would show up nicely on you!)
this shimmerbrick is gorge! how do u think this will look like on darker skin...think MAC NC50/NW45ish?
Hey Christine, Besides being more pigmented .. How pigmented is it on the cheeks? Is it really sparkly or shimmery in that elegant kind of way? Usually peachy/coral-a bit pinky tones look quite nice on me but difficult for me to tell on the swatches.
I found it quite pigmented on cheeks, actually -- there's a link to me wearing it in a look in the review, if you want to see how it looks on me. It's not sparkly, though it has a good amount of sheen. I think it's wearable (I do tend to find most Shimmerbricks too frosty for me, but I like this one).
After seeing this post, I went to Bobbi's website and ordered it! You have no idea how much your posts and swatches help us girls out who don't have counters or stores near us to swatch or see in person!
Hey! Is there a link for reviews for the perm shimmerbricks trying to figure out which one to invest in !! Thanks x
wow, that's the pink palette with the right shine I love to use!!! that is so pretty, want it so bad!!!
Omg... damn it Christine! You know I love Shimmer Bricks why did you have to swatch?? I could've avoided the counter and kept my money, but noooooooooo... and I love you for it lol ;-D
LOL! I loveeeeee this one! I'm not a huge fan of shimmerbricks (usually too much for me), but Nectar is LOVE!
Damn it, I was just trying to motivate myself to go on a no-buy and then I see this!! It's absolutely glorious!! LOL.
wow! this review has been really helpful because i have the platinum pink shimmer brick and i had no idea what to use it for since its to frosty for my taste, but now i know haha.Anyway Thanks a lot. <3
I got the small one a few months ago, but now I'm wishing I hadn't, as that was so expensive, but I might just buy this normal sized one as well, as it's very pretty.
Oh, I HAVE to get this. I bought an old BB shimmer brick that was much too gold in the end, but since I love coral colors this is a must have. Ack, more money down the drain! :-P Thanks for the great swatches as usual, Renee
That is such a gorgeous palette. I love corals as well. Can you also show a swatch of the colours swirled together as a highlighter/blush?
i love the pink and coral colors, they are very beautiful. christine, which one would you prefer the most this one or dior amber or rose shimmer highlighter?
Two totally different products, IMO! The color alone is way, way different, but this one is pretty pigmented, so it's not just a highlighter. I find the Dior DiorSkin Shimmers to be mostly highlighter on me (but still lovely!).
