Zoya Nail Lacquer in Anja, Cynthia, Dree

Zoya Smoke Collection Swatches, Photos, Reviews, Dupes

Zoya’s Smoke Collection contains six cream nail lacquers, including: Anja (smoky palatinate purple cream), Cynthia (smoky Prussian blue cream), Dree (smoky camouflage green cream), Jana (smoky mauve quartz cream), Petra (smoky eggplant mauve cream), and Codie (smoky brown taupe cream).

  • Anja is a deep, burgundy-wine cream. It was opaque in nearly one coat, but I swatched it with two. It looks extremely similar to Rescue Beauty Lounge Drifter. Zoya Stacy is redder and browner.
  • Cynthia is a deep, forboding gray-blue. It was opaque in two coats. I detected the faintest hint of micro-shimmer that only was noticeable under very, very bright light. The only shade I could think to compare it to was Chanel Steel, but it doesn’t have the same blue tone.
  • Dree is an olive green with a cream finish. It was opaque in two coats. Chanel Khaki Vert is greener, less yellow-based, while Rescue Beauty Lounge No More War is darker and greener–Dree appears almost muted in comparison. Zoya Gemma is greener, less olive, and has lots of shimmer.
  • Jana is a muted mauve cream. It was opaque in two coats. China Glaze Below Deck is darker, while Essie Merino Cool is cooler-toned and grayer.
  • Petra is a dark, gray-casted purple with a cream finish. It was opaque in two coats. China Glaze Below Deck is closer to Petra than it was to Jana.
  • Codie is a dark, cool-toned black-brown cream. It was opaque in two coats. Essie’s Little Brown Dress is similar but a little warmer and lighter.

All six creams applied nicely–even flow, good color coverage (two coats used for all swatches), and the formula wasn’t too thick or thin. I tested out Jana for wear, and it wore for a week with minor tip wear, which is my normal experience with Zoya’s cream formula.  I used Zoya’s Anchor + Armor for base/top coats.

The quality of your photos is amazing Christine – you might as well be standing next to me! Thank you for this review 🙂

Beautiful! Amazing! Excellent! Zoya polishes are my absolute FAVORITE. Oh my I hope they do a promo. My poor wallet can’t support all of them full price xP

Devi Avatar

Ohmagosh, DREE AND JANA. I need them. They are gorgeous. Though maybe I should just stick with buying Essie’s Merino Cool… they’re both eight bucks anyway.

Codie is such a yellow-toned brown that it looks green to me…need I mention the color of a certain baby-related substance?
I know I don’t need Cynthia, but…she’s calling to me… D:
I wonder when Zoya will run out of female names ha ha.

Jana looks like several polishes I already have, but since I love love love colors like these I’ll be getting it. Petra, Dree and Cynthia have made the list as well.

I really like the color scheme they have going on, but I’m just not a fan of creams. I don’t wear them and, when I do, I can’t go more than ten minutes, tops, before I’m slapping a glitter on it or something. Petra with a little shimmer, not tons, would have made me cave.

However, Zoya’s onto something with the simultaneous metallic release, I think. Rope in the ones that go for smooth shine AND the sparkles at once!

What gorgeous colours and swatches. Thanks for doing such great pics. My faves are Cynthia, Dree and Jana. Just wondering how similar Jana is to Nubar Chiffon as I’ve already got that. Looks like Jana is slighly lighter. Interested to know what you think?

Thank you very much for the swatches and also for always finding an accurate colour description as well as comparisons. Of course often those are about subtle differences but after all make-up is about colour XD so knowing the differences and varieties is extremely important =) I do like RBL Drifter but it´s too difficult to get (and also expensive), so I’d choose the Zoya, very useful information 🙂

I also agree that Codie reminds quite a lot of LBD 😀 Don’t know yet about Cynthia; I noticed that I like the teal-colours but don’t like to wear them as Nailpolish (such as CC Gossip Column etc) but perhaps since this is a lot more blue and less teal, it would look nice after all.

These are all great colors. Thanks for the swatches. They always looks great. I really love the smokey purple-grey colors, but I have a couple already. I have Mac Cool Reserve and Sally Hansen Commander in Chic. I see that you have the Mac, not sure about the Sally…How do you think they compare to Zoya Jana? I’ve been contemplating Zoya Dove or Kelly also…looking for a medium grey too! Thanks!
