Zoya Intimate Collection Review, Photos, Swatches

Zoya’s Intimate Collection features six new shades for spring, and it will launch online on January 15th. Each bottle retails for $7 and contains 0.50 fl. oz. The shades include: Caitlin (misty, moody gray violet cream), Dannii (sparkling, enchanted orchid metallic), Dove (delicate, pale gray cream), Gemma (mysterious green/purple duotone metallic, Jules (soft, glimmering gold kiss metallic), and Marley (lavender pink with a whisper of metallic).

  • Caitlin is a muted, gray, violet-tinged periwinkle with a cream finish. I used two coats. I’m thinking China Glaze Secret Periwinkle might be similar but brighter/more obvious periwinkle.
  • Dannii is a pinked violet with red undertones and gold and ruby shimmer and sparkle. I used two coats. I can’t think of dupes for this one at the moment.
  • Dove is a softened, pale gray with an ever-so-slight tinge of green-teal (at least, on me). I used two coats. It seems like a lighter version of Rescue Beauty Lounge’s Concrete Jungle.
  • Gemma is a murky spring green with soft yellow undertones and flecks of teal and fuchsia shimmer. It took three coats for me to get this to be opaque (I did just two coats on my pointer figure, for reference). I couldn’t think of a dupe for this one.
  • Jules is a pale champagne beige gold with darker gold flecks. This dries down pretty quickly and definitely needs a top coat to retain a high shine finish. I used two coats. It reminded me of MAC Soiree, but Soiree is significantly more copper, though the finishes are similar. Also similar in finish to Dior Timeless Gold but not so much in regards to color (boo!).
  • Marley is a pale lavender cream with subtle pink undertones and a dusting of pearly white micro-shimmer. Two coats. Ironically, for as light as this shade was, it was the most pigmented of all six. I thought perhaps China Glaze Light As Air would be similar, but it’s far too cool-toned (more blue-based thank pink-based) and lighter. I think Essie’s Neo Whimsical is the closest I have, but it’s pinker and has no shimmer.

The formula on these was easy to work with–not too thin or too thick–and applied evenly without any fuss.  Gemma was the only shade I found needed three coats to look its best, while the rest were fine in two coats.  I really loved the ease of application on both Dannii and Jules–this is my kind of finish but they’re just so effortless to apply.   I wore Dannii all last week, and after seven days, I only had minor tip wear.

  • Product: 29/30
  • Value: 8/10
  • Ease of Use: 4/5
  • Packaging: 4/5

FINAL THOUGHTS: My favorites were Dannii, Jules, and Marley.  I actually really loved the subtly of the pearly shimmer in Marley; it looks very much like a cream in natural light, but with just a bit of sunlight, it has this faint glimmer of sparkle.

WHERE TO BUY: Zoya, available on January 15th.

I AM SO EXCITED FOR DANNII! lol, that’s my name and I figured they’d never make one with my name, as my name is not a) exotic or b) obscure…but there it is 🙂

This is the first Zoya collection I will be buying in it’s entirety. I think it will be the sleeper surprise collection for Spring! I love how Zoya kind of does its own thing compared to other brands.

Jean Avatar

Looovely! I want Gemma, Jules and Marley… I really appreciate the high quality photos, Christine! I can’t imagine how much time and work you put into this… O_O Best make up resource ever!

Dawn Avatar

I wasn’t going to look. I really shouldn’t have looked as I bought way too much nail polish over the past few months, but I did look, and now I find myself wanting Dannii. It’s probably a good job it’s not easy to get Zoya here.

Caitlyn Avatar

me too ;)) I’m only a little sad that they spelled it with two i’s instead of a y … cause I’m called Caitlyn with a y 😉 but still, beauuutiful color!
And so that Caitlyn doesn’t need to travel all on her own, Dannii, Dove and Marley will accompany her ;)) I can’t wait! Those shades look so nice!
Ahhh someone make time fly ^^

Do you think Jules is similar to Already Famous from Sephora by OPI? I have AF and I really like Jules, but I don’t know if I should own both.

Christina Avatar

just thought I’d share, with the code “FB2011” you can get three free nailpolishes on zoya.com and only pay $6.95 for shipping!

Grace Avatar

Christine, how do you get your nail polish to stay on for 7 days without chipping? I wear Chanel, OPI, Essie… no matter what brand I wear, my nails start to chip the day of or the day after I paint them. I have started wearing gloves to do the dishes, hoping it will help, but it doesn’t. I use Seche Vite top coat, which is supposed to be good. I feel like I have tried everything. Any tips?

Alyson Avatar

Hey there… the problem may actually be your top coat. It dries fast but the ingredients that allow it to do that also make it more chip prone. Try switching top coats to a non-fast drying one and see if it helps. And like Christine, I also love the zoya color lock ssystem.

The shades Dove and Jules both intrigue me! Is Jules at all similar to MAC’s Soiree?

Also, I have never tried Zoya before, I mostly use OPI, can anyone tell me the quality of Zoya polishes, I’m interested in trying them!!

Sosha Avatar

Danii and Jules are super pretty. I’ve seen too many similar colors recently to the rest of the shades, though. But I love Zoya polishes.

Julie Avatar

I am so so excited for Jules. I feel like it was made for me 😉 Chanel 2008’s kaleidoscope is my favorite nail polish of all times, and by the tray i received today, it seems very similar (just more economical)

I’m interested in Dove, as well. I’m kind of on he fence with Gemma.

Jules Dupe: Wet & Wild-Crazeâ„¢ “Shield (231)” $1.99 (finishes slightly darker but it even has the micro flecks) Shield remains in my top favorites!
