Zoya Cosmo, Lux, Vega Magical Pixie Dust Nail Lacquers Reviews, Photos, Swatches
Zoya Cosmo Nail Lacquer
Zoya Magical Pixie Nail Lacquer ($10.00 for 0.50 fl. oz.) takes the original Pixie Dust formula and adds larger glitter and “holographic pixie particle.” These can be worn on their own, or you can apply a top coat for a glossy effect, as they’ll have a metallic-matte-like finish without one. I get about seven days of wear out of the Pixie Dust polishes with minor tip wear and no chipping. All three ran a little on the thicker side, so getting the 2-3 thin coats Zoya recommends for application takes some patience.
Cosmo is described as a “silver crystal sparkle.” It’s a light-medium, warm-toned silver with iridescent gand holographic glitter. It had semi-opaque color coverage, and Zoya lists this as having a “4” intensity, where 5 is opaque. The texture dries to a metallic-matte finish, where it isn’t glossy, but there is so much reflection from the shimmer and glitter that it doesn’t really seem matte either. NYX Ice Glitter (P, $4.00) is much sheerer and lacks the “Pixie Dust” finish. See comparison swatches.
Lux is described as a “rose quartz.” It is a light-medium, rose pink with subtle, warm undertones and larger holographic hexagon-shaped glitter. It was semi-opaque with some visible nail line coming through. This one blends in more with my underlying natural nail color (slightly pink) so it doesn’t look as sheer as Cosmo did (and it had the same intensity rating, 4). I couldn’t think of a dupe for this shade.
Vega is a light-medium, muted blue with silver glitter and larger hexagon-shaped holographic glitter. It was mostly opaque–more coverage than the other two, though Zoya has it listed as a 4 as well–and applied easily. Unfortunately, I couldn’t think of any dupes for this color either!

Cosmo looks divine! I think I need to get my hands on it 😀
It’s really sparkly!
Seven days wear, now that is impressive… I wonder how long they’d last on me. 4 days is usually the absolute maximum here, no matter what kind of nail polish it is. Maybe I’m just too uncareful with my hands. I also wonder how these would look on top of a colored base, because I’m not THAT crazy about the way they look just on their own.
To be fair, almost everything lasts seven days on me, or longer :/
Zoya Pixie Dust has the most impressive wear for me. Low-end (OPI, China Glaze) chip by the end of the second day. Higher end (Illamasqua and NARS) begin tip wear by day 3/4 and chipping by day 4. Zoya can go a full week on me with minimal wear to the very tips.
What I love about the Pixie Dust formula is that it dries very quickly, making it easy to throw on and not have to worry about base coat and top coats.
Nail polish usually barely lasts a 24-48 hours on me (I put on nail polish last night and this morning it was chipped. How, I don’t know since I only slept…) I clean my nails, use base and top coat, but still I get 24-48 hours on average.
Anyway, regular Zoya polishes last my standard time, but the pixie dusts last longer, 5-7 days. I often get bored with the color before it chips.
The brand that usually lasts the longest on me is Illamasqua.
WOW! They’re not joking with the glitter. I love Zoya polishes and their glitter polishes are so beautiful but my issue is getting them off. I don’t like having to soak my nails in remover/acetone so I tend to shy away from glitter polishes on my fingernails, though I’ll use it on my toes quite happily. I’m not wild about pastels though, so lovely as these are, I won’t be rushing out to get them.
I find these a little easier than glitters but certainly more difficult than a cream!
These are pretty shades, but Lux is my favorite. 🙂
I really like Lux! Very soft.
Thought I was completely over the whole pixie dust and glitter thing.. maybe not quite.
They pulled you back in!
I love Cosmo, but they all are really pretty!
They are!
Love Lux!
Me too! That was my fave.
I like how Cosmo looks on your nails!
Thanks!
These glitters are so pretty! Love 🙂
Which is your favorite, Tabitha?
Lux 🙂
I ♥ Cosmo. Unfortunately, Zoya isn’t sold in India.
Maybe someday!
I own Lux and I think I really need to pay attention to your recommendation for 2-3 THIN coats (and patience is something I don’t have much of… lol). My first attempt to wear it was a complete disaster. It was really goopy, too thick in some places, and then I tried to apply top coat to make it smooth. FAIL! It took like 3 coats and by the next day the polish was chipping like crazy. I’m gonna have to give this another go with thinner coats and maybe skip the topcoat. It was pretty! Just frustrating…
Yeah, Zoya has a little “here’s how you apply” bit on their site for Pixie Dust, so I really try to go with that, but sometimes they run thick and THIN coats are difficult to achieve.
I’ve been enjoying seeing these pop up on the net, but I’m not sure if I’ll be wearing them!
Have you worn any of the regular Pixie Dust shades?
These finishes are stunning!!
I love how sparkling they are!
Most of these colors are too glittery for my taste but I’m really liking Cosmo, such a gorgeous white multicolor glittery color!
It’s more neutral, too! 🙂
SO SPARKLY
Sparkly goodness!!
Oh, my those are pretty .. think I like the pink one the best.
Monica.
Lux was my fave, too!
Oh, my heart — Cosmo looks like a snowflakey explosion of wintery goodness on your nails. It’s like it’s literally RADIATING SNOWFLAKES! D: 😮 😀
LOL!
Then you can get your snow 24/7 😉
Cosmo looks like diamond nails..I love it!
Ooh, nice comparison!
Lux is definitely my favourite, but I love how they all really do have kind of a ‘pixie/fairy’ feel to them 🙂
I didn’t think I’d like Pixie Dust (or any finishes like this), but I love them!
Yeah, I’m not usually really a textured polish person, to be honest. I like my lacquer..well, lacquer-y! I have a crippling weakness for sparkles, though, so… 😛
These are gorgeous, but my daughter would just steal them, and stash them somewhere I can’t find them…
Have to keep them under lock and key, lol!
I like the pixiedust without those larger glitter particles, they look more elegant on my nails, but these are nice. I like the base color of the blue one. This reminds me I have two zoya pixiedust I bought and never tried, haha!
I think these are a fun way to switch it up, but it’s definitely a more OTT result!
I love Cosmo to bits! It’s so pretty!
It’s so sparkly!
I ordered mine on the 24th and they’re not here yet…. I can’t wait! 😛
I hope they get to you soon, Ellie!
how similar do you think this is to “katy perry teenage dream by OPI” or “pink yet lavender” by OPI? those were the first ones i thought of as potential dupes for lux
I don’t have either of those!
