YSL Fuchsia Fugitive (109) Glossy Stain Review, Photos, Swatches

YSL Fuchsia Fugitive (109) Glossy Stain ($34.00 for 0.20 fl. oz.) is described as a “soft golden fuchsia.” It’s a bold, bright medium-dark pink with subtle, cool undertones and a coppery gold shimmer. Applied, it takes on an even deeper, bolder, redder coloring–it darkens considerably after about fifteen minutes of wear. Because of its opacity, it’s not an easy shade to dupe. OCC Rhythm Box is very similar to the base color but it is shimmer-free. MAC Impassioned has no shimmer and is slightly cooler-toned. L’Oreal Sparkle Frenzy is redder. See comparison swatches.

The latest iteration of Glossy Stains is Rebel Nudes, which is supposed to combine “the shine of a gloss, color of a lipstick, and the long wear of a stain” plus “use “Euphoric Pearl technology for an all-day 3D luminous effect.” It had mostly opaque color coverage with just a bit of translucency that gave it the appearance of a really enhanced stain. The consistency feels thin, almost water-like, initially, and then as it sits on lips, it has a thicker, more balm-like consistency that is just slightly tacky. It has a soft glossy shine–not as shiny as a full-on, high-shine gloss but more than balm; the nicest aspect of the shine is that it’s all-over and even. The stain applied evenly overall, though I noticed the shimmer wasn’t quite as even–it seemed slightly grouped together in some places but from afar, it wasn’t noticeable. Fuchsia Fugitive lasted well for seven and a half hours with the shine topping in at nearly five hours and the stain persisting for the remainder of the time. It was neither drying nor hydrating after wearing for a full eight hours.

I’m a sucker for gold shimmer, sparkle, and glitter! This is so pretty!

Do you know of a gold shimmer/sparkle/glitter lip gloss in a clear (or semi-clear base) that I can layer over a raspberry lipstick to get this effect? Thank you!

Oh, man! I’ve been able to resist these glossy stains for this long but this is just so gorgeous. That shimmer, that opacity… *wistful sigh*

Wow, that’s so pretty. It’s not a color I would have been drawn to, but seeing it on definitely makes a difference. I will be trying it on next time I’m at Nordstrom. Thank you for the review!

I need dis! 😛 Haha, I just saw them on Sephora.com the other day and was curious. I’m a new convert to Glossy Stains (and YSL in general). They’re so pricey but beautiful, and the smell is growing on me. Christine, will you be reviewing other shades from the Glossy Nudes collection as well?

I wish this was a bit more pink than red (because my lips are darker than yours I know this will look even redder on me). But, ugh! This is so pretty and I’m in love with glossy stains and their drugstore sisters. And these have amazing lasting power. These easily last 5-6 hours on me even with constant water drinking.

Waauuuuw I am quite in love with this. I’m pretty obsessed with the Glossy Stains in general as I work as a subtitler and have to speak into a microphone tons, they’re the only things that stay on! Definitely going to invest in one of these. So pretty.

Maybe I will have to look into one of these, I only have Rouge Volupte lipsticks, because I thought the glossy stains would be dry and patchy, since some lower quality lipstains end up being very uncomfortable to wear, so it seems like I might have to give these a try 🙂 .

I usually run from any makeup product with the word “fuchsia” in it – however, I picked this up in a department store today (after trying 101 and 106, which didn’t show up on my lips at all), and I totally love it! the gold shimmer really warms up the otherwise cooler shade, and the gloss fades into a lovely natural soft-pink stain. i’m in love!
