YSL for Fall 2009 Collection - Midnight 5 Colour Harmony Eyes Palette Review, Photos, Swatches
YSL Fall 2009 Collection Sneak Peek – Part 2
YSL for Fall 2009 also features two new 5 Colour Harmony for Eyes Palettes in Bronze Gold and Midnight ($56.00 each). I was able to check out Midnight, which is a stunning selection of silver/gray matched with a bright pop of slightly cool-toned silver flecked pink and a smoky shade of plummy purple. There are a bright silver, a grayish silver, and a matte black eyeshadows also included in the palette. All of the eyeshadows are housed in a “gold” palette with traditional YSL branding. I love the packaging, because I feel like it seems more elegant than traditional plastic packaging, though it does attract fingerprints like crazy!
Check out the swatches…
This is different than what I expected (hence your swatches are really helpful Christine!! ).. So the promo model was wearing something else on her eyes?
Happy to help 🙂
I’m not entirely sure what they did for the look. :/
So pretty!
I love the mix of shades!
Likey! 🙂
Enough to buy?
Not much to these shadows 🙁 They look so vibrant in the picture but from the swatch you can tell that there’s not much pigmentation and for $56…. I know it’s YSL and the packaging is pretty but not $56 worth.
I agree! I was hoping that the purple would be this rich, shimmering dark plum shade (almost like MAC Nocturnelle and MAC Shadowy Lady had a baby!), but it just looks like matte, half pigmented gray-brown-plum in the swatches. 🙁 Everything else has the correct color but they apply too sheerly for me to shell out 56 bucks on this!
Too bad!
Agreed! I think the black looks ok, but there are so many good black shadows out there without having to shell out $50-something for a pallet with 4 other lackluster shadows…
I definitely wouldn’t advocate buying it for just one shadow!
I always find that matte-r shadows go on softer, usually, and all you need is a base to remedy that, which is a must no matter what look I do!
Hmm! This does not look like the eyeshadows in the promo image, and neither does Bronze Gold look like it. So what is she wearing?
I’d guess one of the colors she’s got is the green from the Anise Green/Plum Duo Eyeshadow….
I’m not sure!
OK I am sold!
Haha!
looking at the promo and then at the palette, I’m guessing the light blue is the lid colour, whilst the liner is a mixture of the black and the blue-grey? How did they get them to show up so bold on the model when they’re clearly very sheer? Has anybody figured out good dupe shades for these?
I’m thinking YSL’s eyeshadow duos in Intense Jade/ Lamé Green.

These look really nice, thanks!
No prob, Kirsty!
These swatches aren’t over a base, and I would imagine they used a base in the promos!
What the shit? These colors look nothing like the promo pics. On the model, they’re quite green, and these look just… plain silver. And not pigmented AT ALL!
That’s what I thought too, hence my earlier comment. I thought the model was wearing teal on her eyes somehow. Also the previous sneak peak showed the purple was actually purple, not plum.. Very disappointing.
🙁
This is really disappointing. The colors look so vibrant in the pan, but nothing like the swatches, they’re dull and not so pigmented.
Maybe I will try doing swatches with a base 🙂
Hey there, any idea if the YSL midnight would be sold in Singapore? And if yes, when do you think it would be available?
I think so — probably September.
