I wear winged eyeliner every day, so experimenting with different colors of eyeshadow is one of my favorite things to do so I can add interest to my everyday look. I have two eyeshadows that I’m especially excited to mix with it: Nars cream eyeshadow in “Udo,” a silky light lavender color, and Loreal HIP loose eyeshadow powder in “Striving,” a very dark shimmery turquoise color.

Sarah Avatar

I’d use this with a super dark black smokey eye, maybe with a gorgeous blue into the crease.. atlantic blue, or freshwater 🙂 vellum would make an awesome inner corner/brow highlight!

Katrice Avatar

I would pair this with UD’s Gunmetal on the lid and Kiddie Pool in the crease to recreate the Naked palette look you created. I wore the look twice so far with Kiddie Pool instead of Half Baked, as you suggested as an option, and got so many compliments. Thanks. I think Nocturnal would look great with the look too.

Camila R Victorino Avatar

Hi! I’d pair it with mac honey lust eyeshadow, or purple haze (This one is my favorite of all times, I can mix it up with anything =] )!

Rebecca Avatar

oh my gosh this liner is so gorgeous 🙂 i swatched it in my local store. 🙂

i would pair it with a very dark (black) smokey eye. 🙂 and then use it as a pop of colour on the upper lash line 🙂

sofia Avatar

i really think i would wear these beautiful eyeliners almost alone only with a champagne coloured e/s just for a higlight… but especially nocturnal i think would also look great with a neutral grey e/s,or evn a metalic e/s for a smokey look using eyeliner only to my upper lashline

Martine Avatar

I would wear Nocturnal either dotted on black liner with bright colours, like Midori on the lid and Perfect Plum (both Sugarpill) in the crease,
OR with smokey eyes to add that little extra.

Kasey Avatar

Nocturnal is such a gorgeous, silver – white color with some hints of an off blue.
I would have to say that it would look fabulous paired with too faced’s rich b**** eyeshadow.
http://www.amazon.com/Too-Faced-Duo-Eyeshadow-Bitch/dp/B000RWJ2XW
The white would look dazzling on the bottom inner water line to make your eyes seem more bright while the blue and light yellow – green eyeshadow make the eye a bit smokey and light as well.
Perfect match.
__

I also think it would go good as a top and bottom liner paired with the maybelline Chai Latte eyeshadow quad.
http://www.cvs.com/CVSApp/catalog/shop_product_detail.jsp?skuId=404747&productId=404747&WT.mc_id=Shopping_Feed_Products_Google_Free_Listing

such a gorgeous quad with shades of golds and browns and with a white highlight color that would be brought out with the white eyeliner!
___
Hopefully I am lucky enough to win <3333
They seem like gorgeous liners. Good luck everyone,
xxx

Nastassia Avatar

the two eyeshadows i would pair with that is Creep and Gunmetal from the Naked palette. Im so obessed with that palette at the moment. and i think those two would make the silver liner POP 🙂

Kathy Avatar

I think Nocturnal would look great with classic smokey eyes and blue smokey eyes! To be more specific, I think I would pair this liner up with the Metal Orchestra Kat Von D palette, since I can achieve both kinds of smokey eyes with it. 🙂

Dana Avatar

I’d wear this with a grey smokey eye – Scene on the lid and print in the crease and outer corner, maybe a little carbon mixed in. Thanks for all of the contests 🙂

Leigh Avatar

Something that would be totally helpful – putting a link on these contest pages to the swatch page of the product your giving away(maybe just when the entries are supposed to be about what you’d pair it with) so if a person wanted to see a swatch they wouldn’t have to search for it.

I don’t know, maybe I’m just lazy :p

I’d pair Nocturnal with a charcoal smoky eye.

Keen Janine Avatar

I’d pair colors such as Shock-A-Holic, Louder, Please,Atlantic Blue. Beautiful bold colors that would be complemented by Nocturnal. I’d also wear it without any eyeshadow.

Meezy Avatar

I would love to pair Nocturnal with a black smokey eye for a nice pop of color!

Haya Avatar

i would pair it with a very nude eye, simply because i want it to be the focal point of the entire look!!! soft checks, something like well dressed!! and plink! lipstick:D

Meg Avatar

I’d wear Bare Escentuals Chameleon on the lid with Night Owl on the crease, Disco in the inner corner. I’d use Nocturnal on the upper and lower lash line!

Jessie Q Avatar

Now is the time for my Cranberry and Phloof! answer.

(I said that last time to Smoky Heir without realizing that that was the purple one, and then corrected myself. But this time I’ve checked to make sure I have the right color in mind!)

Nocturnal looks amazing. Thank you for doing these giveaways!

Leenie Avatar

I would wear this in the evening only maybe a dark eye like black tied on the lid and nocturnal eyeshadow in the crease and the nocturnal eyeliner I always like the way black and burgundy with a pop of silver looks very pretty I would wear for a evening out only.

Candy Avatar

I’ll pair this with Urban Decay’s naked palette. The focus will be on the eyeliner so eyeshadow colours should be kept neutral, hence the naked palette fits all.

Shannon Avatar

Ohh! I would wear vex with the silver & purple because it’s subtle but adds color and with the blue, I would use a taupe shadow to make it stand out more. Good luck everyone!

Peggy Avatar

I would pair it with some netural eye color so the eyeliner would stand out or even a smokey look for a night out, the silver would make the eye pop

Maisie Avatar

i think it’s really pretty to take a colored eyeliner, and draw a thick line and wind it out and then draw with black over it a thinner line to make it look layered and it gives it a really cool effect. i would probably do that with this, but it would even look pretty with a plain neutral eye! gorgeous color!

Joanne Avatar

I’ll pair it with a dark (black) smokey eye. I’ll layer and blend the silver liner over a black liner on the inner upper and lower lash lines.

Yuki Avatar

Well, I never really wear different eyeshadow looks out, but I switch up my eyeliner often. So maybe just a neutral beige all over the lid and a dark chocolate brown in the outer corner and crease.

Kaylabella Avatar

This would be gorgeous with a dark gray/navy smokey eye. Like UD Gunmetal with the dark blue from the Inter-view mes trio from CoC! Gorgeous!

Arantzazu Avatar

I Think something neutral… Beige or soft grey. I’d put the focus on the line, not on the eyeshadow.
But I think I’d put a mascara in the same colour of the line.

Holly Avatar

If it was day, ide pair this with a simple neutral eye, with the liner slightly winged. If it was for night, i would probably do a slightly smokey purple look, with colors like NARS Daphne and Night Fairy, then i would do a dramatic wing.

mandy Avatar

I’d use it with the Palace Pedigreed quad. It’s the only one from the collection that I got and a no brainer that they’d go great together!

Etaoin Avatar

urban decay kiddie pool eyeshadow all over the lid with a dark blue navy in the crease and outer corner! Black eyeliner on the lower lashline. thanks christine!

Lena Avatar

For day/school, I’d keep it simple with a cool, ashy neutral eye and a slight wing with Nocturnal, and for night I’d probably pair it with greys, navys, or deep plums.

Jess Avatar

I would use Nocturnal with a very dark smokey eye using black shadows, or using dark blue shadows, to offset the dark with some light. I may also use it near the bottom lashes with silver shadows.

Suki Avatar

Would I use them with a powerful purple shade, but in a fairly dark and sober verging on black. Let the eyes well marked and dramatic. I love this makeup style where the eyes are very evident and mouth off with a nude.

WithIt Avatar

This color is so fun! There are SO many options, which to choose?!

Since I have blue eyes, I might pair it with a few different shades of blue (for crease and lid), and a sheer-whitish color for highlight.

Natalie Avatar

I’d wear it with another light shadow, but a warmer tone so that the effect would be very light and iridescent. I’d us Jemma Kidd’s eyeshadow in Vintage (from the Target line). It’s a really pretty warm, super shimmery pinky/beige color. Thanks for the opportunity to win!

Nina Avatar

I’d pair Nocturnal with the Burmese Beauty quad; Skintone 2 (lid), burmese beauty (crease), showstopper (outer corner), & prized (highlight)

Jazmine Avatar

I would do a neutral eye and add Nocturnal for a POP of blue color on top. Probably just a champagne brown on the lid, and some dark brown in the crease and outer corners and then this eyeliner. Perfecttt.

Iciar Avatar

I always combine almost everything with vex, but I think I would use something light on the lid like yoghourt, and one of my favourite eyeshadows for the crease: top knot (all by mac)

Jayna Avatar

I would pair this with somethig to make it pop, I think something like plumage would be nice, or a nice brown that is almost matte, maybe style warriors, gazzette grey would be nice if you can get enough build up. Smoke and Diamonds is always good, perhaps satin taupe. Star Violet, or Some of the UD colors such as Last Call, AC/DC, stray dog, mary jane, mushroom.

Gina Avatar

I would want the liner to be the focus of the eye, so i would wing out the liner for a cat eye appearance with a warm wash of color on the lid, like soft brown with lots of masacara!

Kristin Avatar

I honestly have no idea what I would pair it with. It seems lie it would be hard to use in an everyday look, but I’d have fun trying!!

Melissa Avatar

I’d keep it simple, just a nice matte taupe or light peachy pink shadow. When I wear eyeliner it’s always liquid and I feel it should be the focal point!

Elizabeth Avatar

i would do a smokey eye with it most likely, but not a black smokey eye. I would use different shades of gray and then a line of “nocturnal” on the upper lash line would just finish it off!

Diya Avatar

Lately I have been wearing Style Snob on the lid, with Nocturnal on the outer V, and deepen it with Black Black pigment. It’s very pretty.

Adail Avatar

i would pair this with a traditional black smoky eye. I would line the first 3rd of my eye with this liner to brighten up my eyes a bit and keep the look from becoming TOO dark.

Paula Avatar

Hmm, I would a try matte blues like Naval, Meet the Fleet on the outer v and something taupy to warm it up, like a mix of clue and soft brown…

Nessa Avatar

all that glitters all over, line my eyes with this and add half lashes OR

a smokey eye using black tied, carbon and they grey side of NARS’ tzarine e/s duo

Diligent Shopper Avatar

I just bought Nars persepolis eye shadow duo and I think this would go nice with this duo. Persepolis comes with a seafoam green and bright blue. 😀

Shanna Avatar

I’m dying to get my hands on this one. I think I’d pair it with a dark smokey eye – mostly carbon on the lid, blended out in the inner lid with something like White Frost or Electra. Or a dark smokey purple, with carbon and entremauve pigment.

Molly Avatar

Honestly I’d just pair it with some low key neutals veryvery close to my skin color, and just a slightly darker brown to add depth. I’d use nocturnel as liner on the upper lash line, and for a cat eye 🙂

inaya Avatar

i’d pair it with browns and coppers to bring out contrast; like all that glitters in the lid and bronze in the outer corners and woodwinked in the crease

Taylor Avatar

This would look amazing with the Tarina Tarantino Starchild Odessey palette. The purples have some silver undertones and the teal is a great complimentary color. Sticking to the MAC line, aquadisiac.

Jaymie Avatar

I would pair it with purples, Greys, or blues but it us such a beautiful color alone that I could probably keep it simple so that people can see the true beauty of the liner without any distractions 🙂

Delia - Katharina Avatar

I would wear it :

with a dark black smokey eye and set courses with a kind of silver eyeshadow the Eyeliner would perfectly match.
(Scene mixed with Blanc Type ,Typographic mixed with Black Tied ,Black Tied)

or I wear it with a Blue smokey eye that looks like sky by night and the eyeliner would be like the stars on this wounderful sky.
(Gesso, Deep Truth, Nehru everything paired with Plumage in the eyelid Crease)you could although mix some more very dark purple in it that it looks more like the blue midnight sky.

Zenaida Avatar

To me this would go great with your basic smokey eye. If I were feeling really fun and out there I might even do it with a blue or turquoise look.

Lyndsay Avatar

I’d pair this with a deep purple or a muted grey shadow. I wouldn’t want something over the top for the shadows because this is such a lovely liner, I’d want it to be where the eye is drawn

Meghann Avatar

I would put Nocturnal with a silverthorn on the lid, texture in the crease, ricepaper as the high light, and plumage on the end with a touch of carbon to deepen and smoke out. That would be perfect.

Gen Avatar

i’m totally having some weird kinda writers block right now and can’t think of any exact shadows i’d wear with Nocturnal. i’m thinking a gorgeous deep purple would be perfect!

Libby Avatar

I would pair this eyeliner with a smokey eye look using top knot or carbon eyeshadow to really increase the dramatic look of the silver liner.

Laura Avatar

I’d do a sparkly silver/black look using MAC’s Cinderfella mineralized eyeshadow, maybe Electra or something similar, and a matte black like Carbon or UD’s Perversion, with a neutral matte highlight like Brule.

Inês Avatar

I’d pair it …hmmm, probably with a light sheer pink eyshadow in the lid and a really dark blue in the crease and Nocturnal to define the lashes and extended a little bit out. Simple but with a touch of color and wearble.

Leslie Avatar

I’m too new to MAC to know all the names, but I’m thinking something mauvy or purple. Shadowy Lady quad? the new Pedigree quad?
I love these superslicks…. When I get some extra cash, I’m for sure gonna pick some up. I’d do it today, but the kids gotta eat LOL

fatema abid Avatar

hi

i’d defo pair it with Giorgio Armani’s Eye To Kill Palette in Steel Black, guys if you love smokey eye then you would love this, its a must have xx

Shannon Avatar

For sure i’d go for smokey eyes look. I’d probably use my fave combo of purple and gunmetal shades from this one Tarte quad that i bought from sephora on sale. I LOVE those two shades, too bad there’s no name D:

Lo Avatar

I’d just use a nude eyeshadow base, with just a pop of Dazzleight Eyeshadow on the inner corner and a tiny bit on the browbone and use Nocturnal to create a very feline winged out liner, I’d pair it with a dewy skin and a nude glossy lip or a statement lip colour like Lickable lipstick by MAC or Mistress intense lipgloss by Illamasqa

Glamarmywife Avatar

I would pair it with my Urban Decay half baked eyeshadow. It blends in with my skin tone and leaves some shimmer to make the eyeliner pop.

Torrey Avatar

I would do a gunmetal grey smoky eye (Blackground paint pot as a base, Silver Ring e/s all over, Black Tied in the crease, Phloof! as highlighter on the brow and inner corner of the eye), smoke out the lower lash line and waterline, and then put this underneath – I think the silver would make the whole thing really pop!

Stephanie Avatar

I’d use gold and green shades and go for a “forest frosted in silver” type of look. Gold on the lid as a base, green on the outer third of the lid and maybe a dark brown in the crease and then nocturnal as the finishing touch.

Chaia Avatar

I’d use the UD Get Baked palette and put half baked on my lid with flipside in my crease. I’d use nocturnal to line and keep the blue theme going. I’d add a little twice baked in the outer v and under my eye smudge along the lash line.

kimberly Avatar

keep it simple use notoriety eyeshadow and furiously fabulous eyeshadow then apply the MAC Nocturnal Superslick Liquid Eyeliner on top of your eyes and under just a thin line you dont want to look like you got a black eye

flavio Avatar

id pair this with tete-a-tint in the crease. brule on the lid. and vanilla eye shadow on the highlight areas. then use nocturnal as an eyeliner. & wing it. on the lips i would use smoked purple (:

Marissa B Avatar

I would either go all out sporting a vivid blue and silver eye for a night on the town. For something more “subdued”, I would blend it with gray and charcoal shades, using Nocturnal for pop!

Kiki Avatar

Something crazy like Gesso all over the lid with Deep Truth in the crease and on the lower lashes. I’d extend the Deep Truth along with the Nocturnal wing for a double liner look. Oooo, I can’t wait to try that!!!

Kiki Avatar

Gesso all over, with Deep Truth in the crease. Deep Truth to liner the upper and lower lashes. And Nocturnal on top to form a double liner wing. Ooooo, can’t wait to try!

Kerry Avatar

I’d use this eyeliner on the lower lashline. For the eyes, I’d use purples – a bit of white in the inner corners, Parfait Amour on the lid, and Graphology on the outer corners.

Lola adefusika Avatar

Id wear two out the three: on on my upper lash line (silver) and the other on my lower lashline. Then wear mac gaga lipstick and some 7 lashes.

Veronica Verdu Avatar

Hola, hay varias opciones para usar estos eyeliners.
Yo los usaría con la painterly simplemente. O con una sombra del mismo color o mas clara y encima una buena linea!!! I love MAC!!

Aneta Avatar

I would love to pair it wiht blues – i have this very weird blue-grey from Body Shop (number 9) and I would love to put it just in the crease with the liner – smoky but still good looking for someone as fair as me.

Jessica Avatar

I would pair the Noctural eyeliner on the bottom lashline with Idol Eyes from the perm line, and Her Altar Image and Vile Violet from the Venomous Villains collection.

Amanda H. Avatar

I love my eyes with just a little winged eyeliner and mac tete-a-tint in the crease to add a little depth. oh and cant forget a few swipes of loreal telescopic mascara!

G Avatar

I would use it with my dark purples, plums and blacks for sure! It would probably look great with my glittery greens too, which I am loving lately!

niya0302 (Donna Dance) Avatar

Thanks Tempatalia for the video review and blog. Since Im very new to makeup and MAC I left work last thrusday to see the line as it came out and was not overly impressed. Some of the line was nice but I found myself purchasing still more of the permenent things and trying to still locate old collection items. As a new makeup person I really trully appreciate your sight because I honestly feel that Im being led in the right direction when deciding what to purchase. Keep being fabulous by the way Im a 52 yrold single mom who had no clue till i started watching you, so thank you once again. The one i liked most was the burmese collection.

Elena Avatar

i’d would either wear it alone or with a dark black/purple smokey eye and make the line as thin as possible to make it subtile but noticeable.

Tiffany Santiago Avatar

I would keep it neutral and use my favorite MAC eyeshadow of all time Naked Lunch. That way the main focus is on the eyeliner.

Lena Avatar

i would use a champagne/beige eyeshadow like all that glitters from mac or sin from urban decay. then i would line my upper and lower eyelashes to make my eyes really pop.

kelly alice. Avatar

i would use my bare study paint pot as a base, then apply beautiful iris in the tear duct area and middle lid, fading out with satellite dreams. i’d use vex as a highlight, then use Nocturnal Superslick Liquid Eyeliner. i’d create dramatic, thick black eyelashes.

Christina Avatar

i loooove a neutral eye look with a pop of beautiful eyeliner, so i would put all that glitters all over the lid, and then apply the nocturnal superslick liquid eyeliner! 🙂

Ellie Avatar

I just bought NYX I Dream Of Barbados from their Caribbean collection. I will def. layer some purple and grey eyeshadow along with Nocturnal. I’m loving purple and grey together for the fall!

Jennifer Avatar

id wear a super dark navy smokey eye then wear noctural as an upper liner n the lower one would be a black one! LOVE ITT!!! hope i explained that right !

Sapna Avatar

id do a veryyy thin black line close to my lashes, with a winged out cat eye on the upper and lower lashes, and club all over my lid and blended out with a brown on the crease.

Stephanie Avatar

I would put sharkskin shadestick on the lid topped with tilt eyeshadow and deep truth in the crease. I would line the top line with nocturnal to give it that light pop of silver.

Reza in StL Avatar

I tried this in-store and I’m really impressed, so I’m getting too many ideas. The first is an eye look that combines Silver Ring + Satin Taupe with Black Tied in the outer v (but BE’s new Buxom Black Lab would be perfect there too). The other thing I noticed is that everything in my Tarte holiday package from 2009 would look lovely with this eyeliner, and that’s about 36 shadows, so way too many to mention by name!

Arlena Avatar

I would pair it with a smoky eye look to give it that extra pop!!! The colors I would use for the smoky eye would be carbon, black tied on top of that and print or knight devine just a little above the crease to finish it off!!!

Vonvon Avatar

I tried Nocturnal yesterday at the store and it’s gorgeous even on its own. But I’d pair it with some dark shadow like gray, or dark blue – smokey eye look. The silver would give a twist to the smokey look!

Ashley Avatar

I would pair this with this Black with silver sparkles eyeshadow I have in my Estee Lauder quad for a dark smokey eye and some Urban Decay’s Gunmetal or Creep!

Sam Avatar

I would do a dark smoky eye using Carbon and Typographic as the main two colors – and White Frost to highlight. I think that would be a rather interesting look to use with Nocturnal.

Jasmine Avatar

With the Urban Decay Naked Palette.. especially with Creep in the crease and Naked on the lid or with Creep and Gunmetal for a silver smokey eye 🙂

Diana P. Avatar

I actually would wear it alone or would pair it with a black gel-liner, a nice wearable extra for everday, and when it comes to e/s I’d definitely pair it with a more neutral-/skin colour looking e/s 🙂

Beenish Avatar

To keep it simple, I’d use vorpal from the Alice in Wonderland, Urban Decay Book of shadows on the lid, I’d use normal black eyeliner on the top lash line and nocturnal eyeliner on the bottom.
