I don’t use a primer on my face, I just start with clean skin. I do, however, use urban decay primer potion and sometimes MAC’s painterly paint pot 🙂

Leila Avatar

I don’t prep for color because most of those products are a bit pricey for my budget although I would really love to be able to!

Twitter username: LSal92

Amrita Avatar

Great giveaway!

I prep for colour but getting myself in a good mood and dancing around to get the blood flowing.. Then putting on my makeup with a smile on my face 🙂

Amrita xxx

Sher Avatar

I use Studio Moisture Cream or Strobe Liquid and then put on Prep & Prime (whenever I have to wear my makeup for a long time). 🙂

ModeCrazyMakeUpOn Avatar

1. I put primer on eyes and face and a base on eyes (the color depends on what I’m gonna use after on)
2. Was already following & RT done

Ashley Marie Avatar

I looove these colors! So so so soooo much. I use smashbox on my face…though I dont like it much…and usually soft ochre paint pot on eyes. <3

Yiota Avatar

I don’t have a really good face primer.. I do use Urban Decays Pimer Potion for my eyes though! Also planning on buying a MAC paintpot.. so this giveaway would be great!

Isheeta Avatar

I prep my eyes by using a eyeshadow base. My favorite eyeshadow primer is MAC Painterly PaintPot. I do not use a primer for my face, I only use a foundation. My favorite foundation is Revlon ColorStay Foundation.

Sara Avatar

I prep just using Urban decay’s primer potion on lids I haven’t had a chance to play with much else in the primer arena. Thanks for the chance to win!

Shivani Avatar

I use MAC prep + prime SPF 50 – I really don’t think it qualifies as a primer – i think its just spf – but I love it regardless.
I also tried tarina tarantino’s primer i got as a sample from sephora…i think may get that.

Maria Mejia Avatar

I moisturize & apply sunscreen to set my skin up for colour, then comes, either powder for night or liquid/stick foundation for day….

Sara Avatar

I actually don’t prep for color, I’m horrible! I haven’t tried primer yet, I usually just do a tinted moisturized then MSFN. I should use a primer though!

virion_butterfly Avatar

I never go a day without primer. I use MAC prep and prime under my foundation and Urban Decay primer potion under my eyeshadow!

Laura Avatar

I use a serum, moisturiser and primer on my face before applying foundation and concealer. I’m still trying to find my perfect face primer but my favourites so far are MAC’s Prep & Prime and Benefit’s That Gal. On my eyes I always use Urban Decay Primer Potion, and usually a cream shadow like a MAC Paint Pot underneath my powder shadows. On my lips I use Carmex lip balm to moisturize, and sometimes MAC Prep & Prime for lips!

Grace Avatar

I don’t prime per say… just nice layer of moisturizer before applying foundation or even tinited moisturizer. For color on my eyes I always start with paint pot!

Lauren Avatar

I prep with Bare Escentuals Revver Upper, Mac Fix Moisturizer SPF 15 and a light dusting of MSF Natural in Medium. My skin is in pretty good shape. I’d love to win this.

Torrie Mckeague Avatar

I definitely prime my face before foundation! it’s a must of course! I My favorite primer is the MAC prep&prime w/spf 50!

Chennel Avatar

I would like to enter this contest. I prep for color by using the following:
Face Prep Bare Escentuals Skin Rev-er Upper, and Bare Escentuals Prime Time.
Eye Prep: Bare Escentuals Eye Rev-er Upper
Lips: Burt’s Bees original chap stick.

Saki Avatar

I’m in the process of looking for a good primer, but in the meantime I prep for colour by using concealer and a color wheel to help tone down a lot of the redness around my nose and the just apply a good foundation. No point in working my butt off on a pretty eye and lip if my skin is all splotchy and uncute!

Liz Maney Avatar

To prep for color I usually use Laura Mercier primer & tinted moisturizer along with Amazing Cosmetics concealer, finishing it off with some Makeup Forever HD finishing powder. 🙂 Then I’m all set for some color!

Veronica Vasquez Avatar

I am following you on Twitter @ChaoticKarma23 … I prep for color with base, eyeshadow, lipstick, and mascara… Can’t afford a lot of makeup though, so really hoping to win!

Darrien Avatar

I only recently started to use face primer, I have always used an eye primer but never really saw the need for a face primer but I tried a sample of Smashbox Photo Finish Primer and I love it so now I use that on a daily basis. As for eye’s I like UDPP, I used to use TFSI which I swore by but I think UDPP works a little better on my skin type.

Dianna Avatar

I use UDPP as my eye primer, Benefit’s That Gal on my face (great under eyes), and any really moisturizing lip balm that I happen to have around.

Jill Avatar

Yay, a giveaway!

I use Make Up For Ever’s HD primer or just my moisturizer! Actually just discovering the wonders of primer. 🙂

Jessica Avatar

I always moisturize my skin when I prep for color. It helps my foundation glide on and look fresh and glowing. I actually just use a facial moisturizer by Olay with SPF 15 in it. Then afterwards, I apply some form of chapstick (lately its been burts bees original) so that my lips are nice and smooth by the time I go to put on lipstick or gloss.
As far as eyelids, I just stick with concealer (currently using LORAC’s double feature). 🙂

Erin Avatar

I prep my eye area with MAC’s Paintpot in Painterly year-round, and with Too Faced Shadow Insurance under that during the summer for extra eyeshadow mileage.

Audrey H. Avatar

Actually, I don’t usually prep for color and my makeup fades away in record time. I need to get with it lol Thanks for the great tips & tutorials, so many new things so little money. Great to know what’s worth buying.

eblu Avatar

Yay! Prep for color is a must since makeup tend to slide off oily skin :(! My fav primers so far are tarte clean slate primer for face and too faced insurance policy for eyes.

Lenora Avatar

Cool Contest!

Don’t laugh 🙂 but I use Phillips Milk of Magnesia as a primer! I have oily skin and I’ve found that using this in my t-zone area creates the perfect matte surface. Use it lightly because it can give a “ghostly-cast” if over done…but I’m telling you it works wonders!

Then I apply a light moisturizer and my foundation as normal and my “face” stays put ALL DAY.

Ebru Avatar

I always moisturize and prime before doing my makeup. My fave primer is Prescriptives Flawless face primer. Too bad they no longer exist 🙁

Deepthi Avatar

Hi! I actually don’t prime my face with any primers because the few I have tried really broke me out so hoping to try MAC’s prep and prime and these goodies,. .thanks so much for doing these giveaways!

Emma Avatar

ooh this collection is so interesting! I use Tarte Clean Slate Primer, which is very organic and I’ve seen massive change in my skin – it’s very clear and smooth!

Maria Avatar

I always use my Urban Decay Primer Potion for the eyes. My MAC prep+prim lip for lips and for the face I use the MAC prep+prim Transparent Finishing Powder.

Evelyn Avatar

I prime my skin with Smashbox Photofinish, but only if I’m going to wear foundation (which is rarely these days :S). I prime my eyes with Painterly paint pot every day. I love that stuff!

angela Avatar

I actually don’t use primer! I’m fairly young and don’t need that extra layer on my face. But I always make sure I have smooth, matte, and blended in foundation -its a critical part of my routine and transforms my face the most.

Carina Avatar

To prime my skin for color I just use a moisturizer, my Maybelline-Foundation + MAC’s Studio Fix Powder Plus Foundation. No fancy skin primers because I can’t find one that I’d like to buy. Good ones are really expensive most of the time.

jamie Avatar

I prime with Smashbox primer and so far… just want to finish my bottle! haha 🙂 I would like to try to NARS primer next.

thanks for the contest!

Cindy Avatar

I do prime.I use Urban Decay primer on my lids, and Smash Box primer on my face. I have rather large pores, and the Smash Box primer minimizes them a bit. And I love the primer on my lids, since my lids are oily.

Angela Avatar

Currently, I prep my face with GOSH primer, I use UDPP on my eyes and on special occasions I also use UD’s lip primer and lash primer.
I would love to try some of the MAC products, I’ve heard great things, but I haven’t had the chance to try them!

Mara Avatar

I prep with MAC’s Fast Response Instant Eye Cream, Urban Decay’s Eyeshadow Primer Potion, and Urban Decay’s Complexion Primer (:

BT Avatar

I prep for colour/foundation by washing my face with purity cleanser and my clarisonic. I then put on Clinique’s dramatically different moisturizer gel…and then put on some smashbox photofinish primer…in that blending one. 🙂

jjiyunlee Avatar

My favorite primer right now is Rimmel’s Fix & Perfect! The other primers I’ve tried were much more of a silicone base and broke me out.

TheSerpentsApple Avatar

I always prime my face and my eyes. I use Smashbox PhotoFinish primer in green because I’m super red and UDPP on my eyelids. Trying to find others though. I hate mutilating that little bottle to get the product out. 🙁 Lame.

Donna Avatar

I don’t currently use a primer… Just make sure my skin is really clean by using a bit of toner and dry-touch sunscreen before applying my makeup 🙂

Denise Avatar

as of right now MUFE HD primer is my fav. I just love the smell, it’s so clean and it helps seal in the moisture from my moisturizer. i always prime, i have texture issues so it makes the application smoother. <3

Penny Avatar

I ALWAYS use UDPP for my eyeshadow, and moisturizer before I put on foundation. If I need my makeup to stay in place for 8+ hours I also use a foundation primer, like Smashbox Photo Finish, and a mascara primer (I like Lancomes!)

Grace Avatar

I prep for colour with a face primer..I like the Smashbox photo ready primer, but I really want to try Laura Mercier and MAC.
I don’t use primer for the eyes though..color stays on with or without for me.

Julie Avatar

I used to use a face primer for my foundation, but I noticed my makeup lasts longer without it ironically! So now the only primer I can’t live without is my UDPP!

Kajsa Avatar

1. I don’t use a primer, because I haven’y found a primer I like. Haven’t tryed the MAC one tho..

2. RT’ed, nickname: Monticka

Megan Avatar

oh how awesome! I use eye primer (UD primer potion) and a face primer (I have so many, it all depends on my mood:). Still try to find a good lip primer!

Ivette Avatar

I want to enter this contest 🙂 I prep my eyelids with either concealer or primer potion and my face with clinique’s pore minimizer and sometimes milk of magnesia

Schara Avatar

I always wash, tone and moisturize first. Then I apply MAC’s Fast Response Eye Cream and let it sink in, followed by Smashbox’s Photo Finish Light Primer. After all that, it’s time for makeup!

Ali Avatar

what an awesome contest/giveaway!

i prep with smashbox photo finish light for the face, and bare study paint pot for eyes (most days) 😀

Lindah Avatar

I prime my eyes, I prime my face… but not my lips though 🙂 I’ve been using my smashbox photofinish lid primer for the past few months and I love it ^_^ If I want things super intense, I’ll also use a colored base 😀

Oh btw, I just bought purposefully red.. the lipstain marker.. and I love it! 🙂 Yes, it looks not too cute up close whenever I’m like 2 inches away, but from like a foot away you can’t tell if it looks bad or not 😀 And the stain is not coming off! I wore it to sleep last night to test the staying power and i tried to take it off in the shower.. and now it’s like a pinky-red stain on my lips still >_<

Carrie Avatar

I use Clinique’s Pore Minimizer in the t-zone area and Estee Lauder’s Spotlight Skin Tone Perfector over my moisturizer in the areas that are dry.

Laura Avatar

To prep for colour…. hmm, I prime my eyes (usually UDPP or Painterly Paintpot) but not my face! Not so much into face primers. 🙂 I do, however, start off with NARS Sheer Glow foundation, which prepares my face for the colour!

Cristal Avatar

Always use a primer, my eyelids are kinda oily so setting the eyeshadow will make them crease in a few hours, and it does not look pretty lol and sometimes i use a cream eyeshadow to make the other shadows more vibrant 🙂

my favorites primers are too faced shadow insurance and urban decay primer potion 🙂

thanks for another great giveaway!

julianne Avatar

i prep for colour by priming my eye shadow and foundation to make sure it looks absolutely flawless!
please enter me!
I love urban decay eye shadow primer and i love rimmel’s fix and perfect face primer!
Also, I like to prime my face with neutrogena’s oil free moisturizer!
thank you so much!

XN Avatar

i use mineral makeup – so i prep my face for color by using a primer in the form of zinc oxide powder. for the eyelids, i use TFSI and NYX jumbo eyeshadow pencils 🙂

Missa Avatar

nice giveaway ! I prep my face with mac’s prep and prime skin protect protection (I thnk thats the long name lol) spf 50. I love it espically cause it helps with my oilyness !

MimiG323 Avatar

I really like Philosophy The Present Clear Makeup as a primer, but lately I’ve been using Bobbi Brown’s Vitamin Enriched Face Base. It smells great and doesn’t leave me oily!

Lo Avatar

I prep for colour by using my Illamasqua concealer, Mac MSF Natural powder, then Mac Fix Plus spritzed on the top of the concealer and powder and very lightly pressed in with a cotton pad to give an ultra natural but flawless looking canvas for colour.

aquarianrabbit Avatar

The way I prep for colour, and it’s usually lip color is: make sure face is flawless with plenty of moisturizer, a little tinted moisturizer and some concealer where needed. Then, exfoliate lips with a washcloth or sugar scrub (olive oil and sugar), Burt’s Bees lip balm or EOS lip balm, Sephora Tricks of the Trade lip primer, and normally YSL of some sort! I love the YSL Rouge Pur in #19. =)

Mascara, maybe blush and I’m done!

Pinkgirl Avatar

This is a great competition!

I always use a foundation primer. I used to use the Guerlain one which has gold on it, but it blocked my pores a bit, so I use the Urban Decay Brightening Primer. I also use the Urban Decay lash primer and the primer potion.

Manda Avatar

I’ve prepped my eyes with a primer but not my face… my favorite eye primer is mac paint in bare canvas.. I’ve tried mac paint pots and the infamous urban decay primer and neither lived up to my mac paint!

Spideyj Avatar

I don’t really do any foundation prep, though I’ve been thinking of picking up some sort of foundation primer. I do use UD Eyeshadow Primer Potion.

izzy Avatar

I’m a total primer! Face primer w/Korres new antiageing primer, eye primer with UDPP. Sometimes prime my lips with a little bit of foundation or concealer.

Stephanie Avatar

I do prime my eyes before putting on eyeshadow, but I don’t really have a favorite primer, though. As far as my face, I do prime my face sometimes with MAC Prep & Prime SPF 50, although to be honest, I really can’t tell the difference.

Kim Avatar

Hi Christine!

I prep for colour on my eyes with either Urban Decay Primer Potion, Too Faced Shadow Insurance, or Rubenesque Paintpot from Mac. I don’t use a primer on my face, but Benefit’s ‘That Gal’ Face Primer is on my list of things to buy!

cass Avatar

i have tried multiple primers, but none seem to work for me since i have oily skin which ends up ‘breaking through’ my makeup and making me look shiny. currently i’ve been using a sample of the mac primer and i wonder if their new primer might be the one to help my face look like a mirror.. :\

Ally_D Avatar

I prep with Clinique’s Pore Perfector Anti-Shine T-Zone Gel. It’s really great for keeping my T-zone free of shine all day. The only thing it’s missing is SPF but the world isn’t perfect 😀

Wilcoa Avatar

Thanks for the chance to enter, it’s really awesome that you’re holding these contests for your readers. We really appreciate it!

I really just got started into prepping my skin. Usually I just put some moisturizer and go to it, but I discovered some samples from L’Occitane for skincase and have fallen in love (so I think I’ll be giving it more of a go soon). Otherwise I love the aquasource line from Biotherm for moisturizing and, of course, some sunscreen. Then comes the concealer, foundation and colour! I have yet to try some lip primers, but am wanting to.

Tina Marie Avatar

I prep for colour with Clarins Beauty Flash Balm. It’s actually the only face primer I ever used but it works okay for me! (: I also can’t apply my eyeshadow without priming my eyes with UDPP and MAC Painterly paint pot.

Kim Avatar

I rarely use face primer, but I always use Urban Decay Primer Potion to prep for my eyeshadows! Its the best eye primer I’ve used!

Jennifer T. Avatar

honestly i don`t prep my skin before applying foundation, although i wish i did !! 🙁 but i prime my eyelids w/ udpp and it`s my absolute favorite .!
thanks for this giveaway !
twitter.com/kinipelaaa

Katherine Avatar

I don’t wear a face primer (I just make sure that I use a good moisturizer with spf before applying makeup). But I absolutely have to wear a primer on my eyes before applying eyeshadow — I love UDPP and Stila Smudge Pot in Kitten!

Madelynn Avatar

I prime everything I can. Primers truly protect my skin from more potent cosmetics. Lips, eyelashes, face, eyes, errrthang. :]
*I want the Hey shadow haha*

Simone Avatar

I prep for colour slowly, moisturising my skin and using some lip balm, I love GOSH velvet touch foundation primer for the face and I’m torn between MAC paintpots or UDPP for the eyes, but I am loving greasepaint sticks as a base for a darker eye!

JuliaF Avatar

I Prep for Colour by exfoliating my face regularly with YSL Gommage. I also use UDPP to make my eye shadow as vibrant and long-lasting as possible.

Amy Avatar

I have been using Laura Mercier’s foundation primer (orinigal) forever. For a very long time I didn’t know what it does for me, but recently I think I fall in love with it again! It really does make my foundation stay – for like 12 hours no kidding – and with my skin not drying out. I also use other two Maybelline’s primer (a purple one to brighten up + one to cover pores) on top of the LM. I bought the Maybelline ones in Hong Kong though but combined with LM they make the perfect combo!

Sally Avatar

I actually really like the Korres anti-ageing primer. It works really well for me. Then Painterly for the eyes and MAC lip conditioner, and I’m ready!

Vivian Avatar

to prep for color i need an amazing primer! udpp is a must! and if that’s not available, mac’s paint pots are amazing as well!!

Tanja Avatar

yes, I wanna win! :)))
I prep for colour (eyes) with Artdeco eyeshadow base plus MAC paintpot!
At the face I don´t use a primer, at least not yet!

Kai Avatar

for e/s i definitely start with UDPP as eye primer, but after that i usually just start with the e/s themselves. I have very small lid space (asian monolid), so trying use a dark colored base could potentially make me look like a panda, but just not as cute as a panda. For face i don’t normally use any primer, but lately i started using the Hard Candy Sheer Envy primer. i really can’t tell if it’s doing much, but it does provide a smoother surface. i can’t really tell if it’s keeping my fdnt/tm on better however. for lips i don’t typically prime either, just l/s on and go. but i do use the Cargo reverse liner on the bottom outer corners to blot out the lip pigmentation that extends beneath my natural lip line, and then i apply the lip color (otherwise it just looks weird and i look like i’m always frowning due to the natural pigmentation of my lips extending downward lol). sometimes i prime with eos mint lip balm (usually for l/s that i know are sort of dry, like Rimmel or my VG Cyndi l/s) and a few times i’ve primed with the Shu lip balm/primer that i bought a while back on sale.

oh yes, i’d like to enter this 😀

shontayn Avatar

I prep for color by using neutrogena invigorating deep clean scrub and then I use chanel’s illuminating nakeup base. I started this regimine about two weeks ago and I can’t believe my skin’s glow. I’ve always had pretty good skin but this combo gives me the best skin of my life.

Halifax Avatar

I appreciate primer so much, it makes the foundation application a lot easier. Primer for the eyes too, keep the shadows on longer

Sandy Avatar

What fun — I’d love to win these; thanks for the opportunity. I use a primer every day — used to use Smashbox but the pump gives me problems, so now I use Maybelline Instant Age Rewind Primer. It’s about 1/4 the cost and works like a dream.

OliviaB Avatar

I want to enter by saing i prep my face with:
moisturizer(clinique)
prep and prime skin refined by MAC

and i prep my eyes with painterly paint pot with out a chnage every day 🙂

Jessica Allison Avatar

I always start with clean, moisturized skin an NEVER go without SPF. Lately I’m loving Illamasqua Satin Primer- it keeps foundation from looking too matte on my dry skin- it’s slighlty dewy without adding shimmer or opalescence (both if which can emphasize imperfections like large pores& redness).

Linda Avatar

I prep for colour using primer…which gives you a great photo finish, and makes you look like you have naturally flawless skin…shhhh don’t tell anyone 🙂 ..I have been using MAC eyeshadows for years, they are my number 1 favorite..they are true to color, and stay on fabulously for hours on end…..thanks twitter follower: @nutmeg237
https://twitter.com/nutmeg237/status/11895710264

Eva Sofia Avatar

I really like the new collections mac is offering. I prep for color with photo finish primer and sometimes with a little foundation. I also like to use primer on my lashes, eyelids and lips, so that makeup can last all day long! 😀

Maria Avatar

I prep for color by using a primer and I use MAC’s Prep+ Prime Face Protect SPF 50 and then applying a flawless foundation.
🙂

Nicole Avatar

I’d love to win this. I prime my eyelids and my face with primers. My favorite primers are UDPP, Painterly Paint Pot by Mac and Bare Escentuals Prime Time for my face. I can’t do my makeup without them. 🙂

Danni Avatar

I have never used a face primer before. I do, however, like to start off with a clean and moisturized canvas. But that’s about it LOL.

*fingers crossed I win this one—love that Hey eyeshadow*

Chelsea Avatar

During winter I prime with primer (I’m still trying to find my HG, so until then it changes), but lately I’ve been kind of over primer. Instead, I’ve been focusing on finding the perfect moisturizer and serum so that I don’t need primer!

Kathleen Nehls Avatar

I usually use foundation as a primer but when I go to dances I use primers to keep my makeup on all night. My favorite would have to be Urban Decay eyeshadow primer potion. I would love to enter this!

CosmeticQT Avatar

Please enter me. I prep for color by having good foundation, and base such as Mac paint pots, and NYX jumbo eyeshadow pencils.

Vness_12 Avatar

I usually use a tinted moistourizer but I picked up the skin brightening serum today so we’ll see how long that will last in my prep & prime reggie 🙂

egon Avatar

I always use two primers first I apply a thin layer of Revlon CS, it’s light weight, dries quickly & evens out my lids, then I apply Benefit FY eye (sadly discontinued)wait 3 min. , then apply a color base ( MAC paint pot or MUFE flash colors )=)

Megan Avatar

I always prime my eyelids with Urban Decay primer potion! When I’m going out at night I prime my face with Smashbox photoready oil free primer! I’d love to try the MAC primer goodies!

Rayanna Avatar

I sometimes use Gosh Velvet Touch Foundation primer even though I usually just use a concealer and loose powder after. I also use Urban Decay Primer Potion on my lids as well as a MAC Paint Pot because they work the best on me for no creasing.

Kylie Avatar

I use either smashbox photo ready or MUFE HD primer, depending on how much extra help my skin needs. Eye primer wise I’m loving eden from Urban Decay, and my ever reliable paint pots 😀

Gaby Avatar

I do prime! For my face, I actually use Monistat Chaffing Lotion as a primer, as crazy as that sounds, but it has the same active ingredient as the high-end primers for MUCH less cost. I also use Benefit’s Dr. Feelgood occasionally. For my eyes, I use Urban Decay Primer Potion or Painterly Paint Pot from MAC! 🙂

Molly Avatar

My favorite primers are Too Faced Shadow Insurance, and for my face I actually use a moisturizer from LUSH with a toner to thin it out.

– Moisterizer- Skin Nanny

– Toner – Eau Roma

Tara Avatar

Cool contest! The only priming I do is on my eyelids, before applying eyeshadow. I use MAC’s Bare Canvas most days, but recently got Urban Decay’s primer and love that too.

Chantal Avatar

Lately I’ve been using Mac’s Prep+Prime Skin Refined Zone in my t-zone before applying foundation. I love it because it minimizes the appearance of pores and it helps control shine. For my eyes, I use Mac’s paint pot in painterly – my eyeshadows last all day!

Janet Avatar

I prep my face with smashbox photo finishing primer,
and my eyes in either; UDPP, Too Faced Shadow Insurance, or a Benefit creaseless cream shadow 🙂

LNU Avatar

For eyes UDPP is amazing, MAC paints/pots don’t work for me. For face I just use oil-free moisturizer, followed by MAC prep+prime, and then I apply Fix+ Rose before and after foundation or powder.

Tiffany Avatar

I need to prime if I want any kind of makeup to stay on my face and lids. My favorite primer for foundation is Lorac Aquaprime and for lids I love me some UD PP

Kelly Avatar

I have been using moisturizer in place of primer. I have tried samples of MUFE HD primer and Smashbox, but I haven’t tried any of the MAC primers. The Skin Brightening Serum sounds nice. I would love to test that one out.

Quennie Avatar

I always, always prep for colour. I use a primer for my face and for my eyes. I currently use Smashbox Photo Primer for my face and Too Faced Shadow Insurance for my eyes. I also sometimes use a base for my eyes. I use either NYX Jumbo pencils or MAC Paint Pots. I can’t say that these are my faves because I haven’t used anything else, but I do like all these products that I have been using.

Lenna0013 Avatar

Hello,
I love Chanel Blanc Universel Primer for face, Guerlain Eye Shadow Primer for eyes, Shiseido Mascara Base and Lipfusion XL Primer Pencil… although I usually only prime face and lashes before going out at night.

Monzav Avatar

I prep my eyes with UDPP on any given day– even when wearing neutrals. I can’t live without it! On the days that I feel especially colorful, I pair my UDPP with Fyrinnae’s Pixie Epoxy for that extra oomph and staying power.

My face gets primed with a Sephora primer I’ve had for awhile, and it gets the job done– especially when I add bold blush. 🙂

Amy Avatar

I use UDPP as a primer for my eye shadows. For my face, I use MUFE HD Microperfecting Primer in yellow. If I want just a little coverage, I use the MUFE primer only with a little bit of moisturizer.

Nadine Avatar

I have oily, acneic skin so I’m generally wary of liquid or gel facial primers. I usually use an oil-absorbing powder as my primer, e.g. silica, kaolin, silk powder, etc. I still haven’t found my HG primer for my oily eyelids. UDPP creases on my so I still need to try TFSI and a few others!

L H Avatar

Would love to be entered in the contest. I just started getting back into makeup since having my kids so I cant say I have a favorite face primer. But I prep for with a clean moisturized face and I use a good concealer or neutral creme eyeshadow as a base for my powdered eyeshadow.

Laura Avatar

I use primer on everything but my lips, although I do moisturize. I use Smashbox primer on my face- lately I have been lovely the Light formula.
I prime my eyes with a Mac Paint pot- Bare study and Soft Ocher are my two favourites. I haven’t found anything that I like as much as the Paint pots.
What a fun contest!

Dawn Avatar

I prep for colour by using my favorite face primer: Murad’s Oil-Control Mattifier, and my favorite eyelid primer: Urban Decay Primer Potion.
Thanks for holding this contest 🙂

Jen Avatar

I prep for color only on my eyes! I love UD’s regular primer potion (though I am using up my Eden right now – a little goes a LONG way!), and I love my Painterly paint pot! Thanks!

cindy Avatar

I like to prep my skin with foundation primer. I love CoverFX clear prep cus it feels silky but also helps with my acne. I like to use the too faced eye primer. I actually prefer it to the urban decay primer potion cus i find it creases on a long day. Another one i like is the lancome one. 🙂 thanks for the chance! love your blog

Liz W Avatar

i prep for color with MAC’s face primer and either Urban Decay primer potion or a paint pot for my shadow. I also use Nivea Kiss of Moisture for my lips!

Amanda Avatar

Yay! Exciting.
I wash my face with my cleansers, clarisonic at night, not in the morning, apply my toner at night or my face water in the morning and treat with my products. If i am wearing makeup, I always apply primer and wait like 5 or so minutes! Then it is time for the makeup!

sharon Avatar

i do prime.. first of all: Mouisturize
then fav primer its: MAC PREP+PRIME SPF 50.(sun is agresive, you know hehe)
helps my skin look healthy and with a little bit of glow. (without makeup) then if i do my makeup, helps to stay a long the day..

really love it..

Naun Avatar

my favorite affordable primer is the Rimmel Fix & Perfect foundation primer. It looks kind of scary at first (orange!) but blends perfectly invisible, yay ! I’d love to try a MAC primer one day though 😀

Maria Marino Avatar

I Prep for Colour by using my favorite primer – Loreal Studio Secrets Professional Magic Perfecting Base. I swear, IT IS MAGIC!!

jenny hernandez Avatar

please enter me:) i prep my colour with a wonderfull moisterizer and a light dssting of msf natural. i also love soft ochre paint pot and prep and prime lash:)

Rebecca Avatar

I’m primer committed! I can’t do makeup without priming! My fave thing to prime with is Embryolisse. If that’s not to hand I always go for Laura Mercier’s face primer. Lovely! For eyes I like to use either Urban Decay Primer Potion or Benefit’s FY Eye. Both have unbelievable staying power!

jadefrost Avatar

I would like to enter this. I use primer for my face – I’m still trying a bunch of different ones so I haven’t decided my favourite yet. so far, I really like MAC because it controls shine and MUFE ALL MAT. I also use MAC paints of Too Faced Shadow Insurance as eye primer.

Thanks Christine!

alice Avatar

Enter me! I never used to prime, as I don’t wear foundation, and my skin is sensitive. But then I discovered that a good primer can serve as a light moisturizer under sunscreen, or can be a very light sunscreen itself.
I’ve tried maybe 3 of them, two of which I couldn’t tolerate. Right now, I’m loving Illamasqua’s Satin Primer. I can’t really imagine foundation or makeup sticking to it though, and I don’t think it really smooths out anything, at least not by itself. But it’s nice and dewy. Want to try more primers.

Sara Avatar

Thanks for another great contest! I like to prime my face with Nars primer with SPF and my eyes with Urban Decay Primer Potion! 🙂

ED Avatar

I’m all about priming!!! I use all sorts of primers: face primer (That Gal by Benefit) lip primer (MAC) eyeshadow primer (Urban Decay Primer Potion) and even mascara primer (Shiseido). Enter me!!!!!!!!!!!

Caitlin Avatar

I cleanse, exfoliate, and moisturize so that my foundation goes on smoothly. I am loving the Pretika SonicDermabrasion Facial Brush (Clarisonic dupe/ knock-off). Then I use an eyeshadow primer (TFSI) to make sure my eyeshadow stays throughout the day. Creasing, oily lids are not pretty. 😉

nichole Avatar

My favorite primer is my UDPP. It’s the only thing that helps my oily lids. I prime my face with MUFE HD powder. It’s not technically a primer, but it helps matte my face.

Missy Avatar

I always prime my eyelids, but that’s it. For some reason, when I use a primer on my face, my skin always gets greasy at 9am rather than 2pm! If you know of a good mattifying primer, let me know. I’m getting married in 6 weeks so it would be great to know! Happy Friday!

Kathie Avatar

awe I can’t twit at work but good luck to the other ladies. I love Urban Decay Primer potion over MAC concealer ( I’m a brown skinned black woman and my lids look like I have color on them before I even put color on them). I do NC50 concealer under my NW45 foundation. Good luck ladies.

Sarah Avatar

Yes! I’ve gone through a lot of primers, but my latest fave is Josie Maran Argan Primer Mist. I usually spritz it on my hand, prime eyes with finger tips for shadow, then spritz it all over face after makeup application.

Caitlin Avatar

Please enter me ! 🙂

i only prime my lips and eyes right now. i use macs prep and prime for lips and either urban decay primer potion or paint pots for my eyes. 🙂
but i dont have money to buy the face one i want it though 🙁

Nancy Avatar

Enter me please! I do like to prime and my favorite eyeshadow primer is Too Faced Shadow Insurance. I have also tried face primers such as the Smashbox one and the MUFE one, but I don’t like them that much! Any recommendations?

Jen Avatar

I would love to win, I use Makeup Forever primer most of the time, sometimes i switch and use my Mac primer on my face and I use Mac eyelash primer before mascara:)

Sarina Avatar

My favorite primer is Loreal Studio secret primer. It fill in all line and then i just put on a layer of powder foundation and do a light cheek look. 🙂

Lisa Carbone Avatar

I’ve never had a lot of luck with a primer before cosmetics but recently after reading so many great reviews, I’ve started using MAC’s Soft Ochre Paint Pot on my lids as part of my daily rountine. I like how it “brightens” my eyes and holds my shadow with little to no creasing.

Catherine Avatar

I love giveaways!!
I prep my skin everyday with Smashbox Photo Finish. It’s the best primer I have found. To prep my eyes for color, I use Too Faced Shadow Insurance. Hope everyone has a great weekend!

Ashley Avatar

I prep for color by cleansing (philosophy purity) and moisturizing (carol’s daughter face butter) my face. Then I proceed to do my makeup.

Caryn Avatar

I always use primer! on my skin I use MAC’s prep & prime (which has spf in it!) and on my eyes I use Urban Decay’s primer potion. Moisturizing daily is also great to keep your skin ready for makeup 🙂

SpecimenW75 Avatar

Hello Christine! Please enter me. 🙂
During this time of the year, I have oily skin. Currently, I am using Philosophy’s Never Let Them See You Shine Velvet Touch Primer. It works well enough, but the hunt goes on for the perfect mattifier…I suppose Lancome’s La Base is good tooI also just started using Urban Decay’s Eden Primer Potion for the eyelids. I love it with Nars Kuala Lumpur (gotta get some backup for this, just in case they discontinue)! A little definitely goes a long way. Going to Sephora to check out some new stuff. Hooray for Friday makeup days! 🙂 Have a great weekend.

brandi Avatar

i would like to enter!!! i prep for color with either the hard candy sheer envy primer or i use the urban decay pore minimizer priming potion which i really like!! im still on the hunt for the perfect primer!!!

Mimy Avatar

Primer is a must for the post vibrant colors to come out, especially in the eyelids. Primer provides a flawless surface for foundation and my eyeshadow primer keeps the colors in place.

Traci Avatar

I prep by using TFSI on my eyes, and sometimes I use the BE prime time for my face, but I am dying to try the Korres silicone free primer!

Laura Avatar

I have yet to find the perfect primer, I have oily acne prone skin. I would love to try the skin brightening serum…and the e/s are just up my alley. Thanks for the opportunity!

Kimber Avatar

Prime – almost always Clinique Pore Minimizer Instant Perfector. I haven’t found anything that absorbs oil all day like this product. I’ve used BE Prime Time (regular) and Smashbox photo finish light, but the Clinique is by far my favorite.

(Though I’ve heard the new Urban Decay De-Slick in a Tube is supposed to rock the oil barrier as well).

Ramlah Avatar

I prep by using a moisturiser with spf, and then once that has dried i use MAC prep+prime face. I also have Smashbox primer, but i find that one is a bit thick and gloopy. Also for under eye, I use MAC Rapid Eye Response cream, my concealer goes on much smoother and stays all day when i use tht eye cream. I also do a light sweeping on concealer/foundation and then set with powder over my lips so they are ready for lipstick!

Aoife Collins Avatar

I always use either a mac paint pot or urban decay primer potion as a primer for my eyeshadow and I use Laura Mercier Foundation Primer Oil-Free which is really good for my combination/oily skin!

Jennifer Avatar

I prime my eyelids by mixing a little bit of Benefit That Gal with High Beam and dusting a finishing powder on top to set. Works wonders!

Aysen Avatar

I use Mac matte gel on my forehead and around my nose before the foundation , for my eyes I use urban decay primer potion but I recently tried benefit’s stay put and I think it is better than UDPP.
Thanks for the contest

Marsha Avatar

I heart primer! Right now I’m using Avon Magix and I really like it. {Or eyes I always use UDPP and sometimes use a MAC paint pot or BeneFir Creaseless Cream too.

Kelly Avatar

Prepping is essential! I prep my face with Smashbox Photo Finish Primer, my eyelids with MAC Paint Pot in Painterly, and my lashes with MAC eyelash primer 🙂

Diana Lau Avatar

Thanks for having this giveaway!

and I prime with Laura Mercier Primer lotion and i just ordered the urban decay de slick in a tube

Tiffany Avatar

My favourite primer is Mac’s Prep & Prime, after using my seaweed based moisturizer, I use this and then follow up with Urban Decay’s primer potion on my eyes (that’s if I’m wearing pigments), if I’m not, I just Mac’s Bare Canvas paint pot all over eyelid then start working my colour.

KaylaK Avatar

When I prep for color I always use Urban Decay primer potion for the eyes and also the one for face. Sometimes if I want that dark base I will use MAC’s greasepaint sticks!

HC Avatar

I just prime my lids with either MAC Painterly PP or Urban Decay’s Primer Potion in EDEN. I’m allergic to the original one, how sad! 🙁

vnssa906 Avatar

I do not prime! gasp!! lol… and no wonder my makeup only lasts about 3 hours on a good day… I did recently receive a sample of primer from my 100 point Sephora perks. Tried it twice, and didn’t really notice a difference. MAYBE if I win this awesome giveaway, Christine, I’ll become a priming queen!

Sass Avatar

I use MAC Prep & Prime for face of course, then I set with MAC Mineralized Skinfinsh and then I use Urban Decay Primer Potion for my eyes. That’s it!

Shirley Avatar

I don’t prime my face on a daily basis only because I’m worried about packing on more product onto my face – in terms of eye makeup I use eye primer everyday! I’m currently using Smashbox Photofinish Primer but I usually vary between Urban Decay Primer Potion in the original formula or Sin, I really want to try the new matte one out! I find that priming your eyes really allows your eye shadow to stick and it stays on consistently throughout the day without creasing!

When I go out though (especially at night) I like to specifically prime my t-zone area and then apply my foundation. I find that you really get the flawless finish, and my favorite face primer would have to be the Laura Mercier face primer or the Smashbox photo finish! I would love the try the Mac prep & prime product thought because ive never tried it 🙂

Jolene Avatar

I don’t really prime, I use MAC’s Prep + Prime Transparent Finishing Powder though before I put on powder foundation so it goes on a lot smoother, as well as a setting powder 🙂

Yi Avatar

I think primer is really important, atlest for ,¡me, i have okay skin but not prefect, with primer jsut makes my skin grow and much better. at the moment im using the Bare minerals prime time, i cant say its the best at the market, but so far so good.

Enter me pls. and thanks:)

Shelby Avatar

I do prime. I use MAC Moisture Fix mixed with Prep & Prime (love that it’s 50 SPF) on my face and neck. On my eye lids I use UDPP. It’s amazing to me how well my make-up lasts when I prime, opposed to when/if I don’t.

I’m really curious about the Brightening Serum and the eye shadows look gorgeous.

Kate Avatar

I switch between facial primers all the time, but at the moment I’m using Smashbox Photo Finish primer. For eyes I always use Urban Decay Primer Potion.

Maribel Avatar

I start off with a moisturizer, than i put on my Mac Studio Fix Powder. Final I pat on my T-Zone Makeup Forever translucent Powder. when done with all my face makeup i spritz Fix plus all over. y LISTA!!!

Anna Avatar

i prime like crazy.

i use sephora’s antishine primer over my skincare
fill my crators in with a silicon based primer (right now monitstat LOL)
and i also prime my lashes with prep and prime

Stephanie Sun Avatar

my favorite primer is by Smashbox, the photo ready primer in clear, i know lots of ppl say it broke them out, but for me it works wonders, and it has SPF in it

Naz Avatar

I only prime my t-zone, where color seems to fade fast. I love MAC’s t-zone refining primer. Oh, and of course I always use Urban Decay’s primer potion – best stuff ever!

J Avatar

I prep for colour with concealer over my undereyes blended out into tinted moisturizer, because I don’t like to use foundation. 🙂 I also use a drugstore knockoff of a shadestick as a base for my eyeshadows.

Ambika Avatar

I prep for color with bright and dewy skin, using Benefit That Gal primer, Laura Mercier Tinted Moisturizer, and Mac Mineralize Skin Finish Naural =)

Donna Avatar

I prep my face with clinque moisturizer and eye cream, foundation – right now I am using Revlon Photo Ready or for a quick day I use Benefit You Rebel tinted moisterier and on my eyes i prep with either painterly paint pot or UDPP.

JennyJen813 Avatar

After washing my face I spray with Fix+ then I use moisturizer and under eye cream. Next I follow with either Smashbox Photofinish primer or Avon MagiX Face Perfector w/ SPF20. Sometimes I also used a de-mattifier on my forehead. After applying foundation and concealer I use a translucent powder to set makeup before applying bronzer and blush/highlighter. Before applying eyeshadow I’ll either use UDPP or a MAC paintpot such as Painterly, Bare Study or Groundwork, depending on the color eye I’m doing. Thanks for having another contest!

Tahrim N. Avatar

First I put on a sunscreen then use smashbox primer for foundation and a mixture of my eye-cream and concealer for going underneath eye shadows. I’ve been wanting to try mac prep+prime face protect spf 50, especially since it has an spf built in, but haven’t got the money yet. What I want to try the most from this collection is the serum.

Amy Nicola Avatar

I prep for colour by priming with Laura Mercier’s Foundation Primer, Applying some Bobbi Brown Creamy Concealer, Applying NARS Sheer Glow, then a dusting of MSF Natural& I’m good to go 🙂

Brittany Avatar

I would love to win this! I prep for color with a clean face of course, then I put on my monistat primer and apply foundation, and lastly apply UDPP on my eyes. That’s how I prep for color! 😉

Carla Avatar

Wow you have a lot of followers! After only an hour you have 308 comments. Well I know why–your blog is great! I especially like when you show the nail polishes. They can look a lot different on the hand than in the bottle.

As for primer, I rarely use it. Sometimes if I’m going out or know I’m going to have my picture taken I’ll use Smashbox photo finish and/or Urban Decay eye shadow primer. For everyday, though, I don’t use a primer.

Kathleen Avatar

I rarely use face primer, but always moisturize, on my eyes I use an eyeshadow primer and then usually a cream eyeshadow as a base under powder eyeshadow. My lips I always use a lip balm with spf. 🙂

Elizabeth Avatar

I use Bare Essentials Prime Time for the face and lids. helps everything stay on better and then the pops of color i put on really stand out!

Megan Avatar

I prep for colour by priming : ) My primer of the moment is the revlon smoothing primer but I am going to get the tarte clean slate soon. Also, eye primer is UDPP but I want the tarte one : )

Anne Avatar

I prep for color with MAC prep+prime, then Armani lasting silk foundation. I use UDPP on my lids and then I’m good to go for all the pretty colors! 🙂

Lisa Avatar

Yes, I need to or everything slicks off! I use face and eye primer, and I should probably invest in a lip primer one of these days…

Brooke Avatar

I think my foundation looks better when I use primer…used to use makeup forever matte+ primer and now I use Smashbox photoready primer…( : and I always prime my eyelides with (1) urban decay primer potion and (2) mac painterly paint pot!!!
Hope I win!!

Anitacska Avatar

My favourite primer is Guerlain Meteorites Perles primer for face and Urban Decay Primer Potion in Sin for eyes. Then I use fouondation for flawless(ish) skin, Givenchy Photo’perfection is my fave. 🙂

Twitter: Anitacska

M Avatar

I prep for colour by moisturizing my face, putting Bare Study Paint Pot on my lids, and my Avon Big Stixx lip balm in Melon on my lips!
Thanks for the contest, Christine!

Hannah Avatar

The only primer i use is on my eyes for my shadow. I use Clarins Instant Light Eye Perfecting Base, its really good, I don’t like UD Primer Potion etc!

Jess A Avatar

I prep for color with an SPF lotion (I have chronically dry skin) and then a primer.

I find that a smile always makes color look best!

Natalie Avatar

Favourite primer is the Guerlain Perles one, it’s gorgeous! The bottle lasts for ages and it has a beautiful illuminated finish on the skin.

Cathy Avatar

i prep for color by using Lush skin drink moisturizer and then i use a face primer by Victoria secret that i love love love! And on my eyes i prep my eye lids with too faced shadow insurance..ive been using this for 3 or 4 years now!

Amy Avatar

I like to use foundation primer. I get redness so I like to use the green primer from MUFE. Another primer I use is eyeshadow primer, my favorite is Shadow Insurance by Too Faced. 🙂

Thanks for the opportunity Temptalia!!

Sally Avatar

I always use Benefit Creaseless Cream Shadow in Recess as a base for my eyeshadows. I will also use Smashbox Photofinish Light primer for long wear at big events.

Thanks for doing these!

Meesh Avatar

I prep for colors on my eye by using a good primer or base. For my lips, I just use a good chapstick. For my face, I dislike the primers because it makes me feel like all my pores have been blocked off. Not the best feeling for an acne prone person!

Kathleen Avatar

I love to prime! It makes me feel good about myself for some reason. I love a primer from Shiseido but I forgot the name 🙂

Stephanie Avatar

I don’t use any foundation, so I don’t use a face primer. But I prep my eyes with Urban Decay Primer Potion. It works miracles in preventing creasing for the whole day!

Please enter me, thanks!

Fianna Avatar

I would love to win.

I only prep my eyelids for color with Too Faced’s Shadow Insurance.

I followed you on twitter and retweeted your message. My username: fiagewinnt

Thank you for all your hard work with temptalia.com. I really appreciate that. Keep up your fantastic work.

Deyla Avatar

I prep for color by applying UD Primer Potion on my eyes and a really good moisturizer on my face before foundation.

Enter me please!

Kristen Avatar

I always use an eyeshadow primer, currently my fave is UDPP, but I’d like to try Too Faced Shadow Insurance because of the packaging. When I want my face to last all day/night I use Clarins face primer, it helps with staying power and fine lines.

Weezer Avatar

I prepare for color with my new favourite primer, inglot. It is fabulous! My favourite eyeprimer, which preps me for any possible color, is painterly paint pot!

Diligent Shopper Avatar

I prep for color with lots of stuff actually

Face toner, then moisturizer, a little bit of sunscreen. I spritz my 187 brush with some facial mist then apply foundation with this slightly moist brush. For my eye, I put some eye cream and a thin layer of UDPP.

PS: I have no foundation primer though and I would like to try one =D

Hope I’ll win a contest. Haven’t won any contest before. 🙁

Crissy Avatar

I use moisturizer and a mineral foundation. Sometimes I’ll also use Korres face primer and UD primer potion if I’m wearing eye makeup.

Nicole W. Avatar

I prime with Smashbox Photo Finish Color Correcting Foundation Primer in Adjust! I love that it tones down the redness in my skin!

Valerie Avatar

I love primers. I’m oily so it’s a little tricky….some don’t work well on me. I love Laura Geller’s lip primer. I’m still looking for a great face primer and eye primer. Thanks.

Abby Quack Avatar

I moisturize, then use Tarte Clean slate primer, and on goes the foundation! Paint pots are my favorite eyeshadow base 🙂

IndoorKitty Avatar

I use Fyrinnae’s gel primer, and am amazed at the difference it makes. I use MAC prep and prime for eyes as a shadow base, helps control creasing over looong days.

Leea Avatar

1. I don’t prime, never have… and probably will try sometime 🙂
2. Of course I’m already following! and retweeted 🙂

Lauren Avatar

I think the best way to prep for colour is keeping my face clear and moisturized all the time! But I’ll always use UD primer potion to prep my eyelids!

Jula Avatar

I always make sure to prep for color–my makeup does not look the same without it! I use Bare Mineral’s Prime Time for my face and Urban Decay Primer Potion for my eyes.

Cynthia Avatar

I prep my eyes and lips with Base yeux/lèvres by lise Watier.
For my face, I don’t have a primer, because every one that I try make me break out 🙁 Maybe this one could work !

Sofia Avatar

I mostly use a primer from Bare Minerals in my face and prime my eyes with a primer from the Finnish brand Lumene. I do think those works pretty good actually. ^^ I’ve never tried Mac’s primers but I’m really curious, I love all other makeup from Mac.

Mirna Avatar

I prime my face using MAC’s Prep & Prime with SPF 50, PP in Painterly or Soft Ochre for my eyes, CCB in Luna for highlighting (making sure my powder highlighter/blush stays on), and regular chapstick before applying MAC Viva Glam Cyndi (currently my fav. lipstick!).

Maggie Avatar

Enter me!
I prep for foundation by:
1) wash face
2) moisturize with hope in a jar spf 20, then wait 5 minutes while i do other things.
3) Smashbox photo finish foundation primer.
4) Foundation
5) Contour, then blush and then highlight
6) Then I set everything with Mac’s prep and prime transparent powder

jenny Avatar

I prep my face for foundation using Korres’ primer. its the best so far! beats smashbox, sephora, etc. I prime my eyelids for shadow with one of the three UDPPs i own and with cream shadows!

pilirani Avatar

i just usually use a primer and foundation to prep my face for make up.On weekends, i do i deep cleanse facial mask 😀

xx

Emily Avatar

I want! I want! I always use a lightweight moisturizer first (right now it’s Nuetrogena for sensitive skin), then I use Smashbox Photo Finish Foundation Primer Lite…the on the eyelids normally MAC Bare Study paint pot…and underneath my eyes Urban Decay PP. (I like to line the bottom with eyeshadow)

Jane Avatar

I don’t often use a primer but I do use a good moisturiser or sometimes a product like Time Delay Radiance Booster (a bit like Clarins Flash Balm but from Boots in the UK).

I find a good foundation and painterly paint pot are a good base for colour on my face.

blerina Avatar

i actually use my foundation as a primer cuz here in italy we don’t have urban decay and the other ones are either too expensinve or not good 🙁

Sarah Avatar

I prep for color with my Smashbox Photofinish Light and UDPP. Actually, I go a little overboard with prepping my eyes sometimes. I’ll use my UDPP first, put MAC Painterly on top to even out the color, and sometimes use a colored base on top of that! I don’t have extremely oily lids or anything; I just love using my products!

Sylvie Avatar

I used to use MAC’s Prep and Prime Skin but found that it did very little, so now I only have sunscreen under my foundation. To prep my eyes for colour however, I use Soft Ochre paint pot, and I also use Prep and Prime Lash to prevent my mascaras from smudging.

Jessica Avatar

I prep for colour by listening to music 😀 sometimes my mood will determine what colors I wear! I always use face primer and of course my UDPP!

Kelly Avatar

I like to use primer, but I am still in search of a really good one. I work 10 hr shifts and my make up does not last if I dont use a primer 🙁

Nik Avatar

I don’t prep in the winter but in June when it gets 100 degrees and up I use Bare Escentuals Prime Time and The Supernatural by Philosophy, they are the only ones I’ve tried!

JillyB Avatar

I prep for color by using both a face and eye primer. I can’t say I have a favorite yet, I’m still trying different ones. Right now I’m mostly using Smashbox face primer and MAC Soft Ocher paint pot for eyes.

Tarring Avatar

I prime by first protecting my face with Shiseido’s Elixir for daytime protection. Then I use Benefit’s that gal to brighten my complexion.

Anna Avatar

I prep my face for color by using L’oreal Studio Secrets perfecting base, which is amazing for filling in large pores. For the eyes I like Too Faced Shadow Insurance, for keeping my eyeshadow vibrant.

Alana Avatar

I prep by moisturising my face and lips, I have very dry skin! Then i use UDPP or TSI on my eyes and i’m ready to go!
If anything, my skin dries out during the day and my make up starts looking dull and cakey, so the more moisturiser the better! I always finish with a spritz of fix+

LB Avatar

I started using MAC’s Prep + Prime Face Protect SPF 50 a little over a month ago. Before that, I was using Laura Mercier’s Oil-Free primer, but I wanted to try one with SPF because my moisturizer doesn’t have SPF. I also use either UDPP or UDPP Eden on my eyes — can’t put anything on my eyes without it!

Eva Avatar

Ooh, a chance to win one of my fave e/s: Hey! :o)
As a face primer, before applying mineral foundation, I use pure silk powder; my favourite primers for eye make up are Too Faced´s Shadow Insurance and UD PP (the original one). Both work equally well for me.

Blyss Avatar

I prep with Shu Uemura’s UV Fluid base. It has SPF for UVA and UVB. It makes all colours last and look flawless even in humidity.

Kayla Avatar

I Prep for Colour using my 2 favourite priming priming products – Smashbox Photo Finish Light foundation primer and GOSH Eyeshadow Base!

Amber Avatar

I don’t wear foundation on a regular basis, but eye primers are a must for me! I love MAC paint pots and urban decay primer potion

Bernice Avatar

Hi Christine 🙂
Thanks for the giveaway 🙂

I just use sunscreen (SPF30) and mineral foundation for everyday wear. Don’t actually use a primer x) except with my Too Faced Shadow Insurance for my eyes.

Jess Avatar

I think that primer is super important. I prime my eyes with Too Faced Shadow Insurance and prime my face with Smashbox’s primer. They are soo important because they make your makeup last much longer.

Sheena Avatar

I prep for colour by using my MAC prep & prime base visage and my MAC Refine zone to my t-zone. As for my lids I use too face shadow insurance. I’m not big on using a lot of eyeshadow…mostly neutrals. My thing ? Lips!! the brighter the better…I use palmer’s cocoa butter just a bit to add moisture and slip. Fav lip shade at the moment?? MAC Morange with a plum liner and lychee luxe lipglass.

Cathy Smith Avatar

I prep for color by using DHC Velvet Skin Coat for face before Giorgio Armani Designer Foundation and Too Faced Shadow Insurance for eyes 🙂 And and ofcourse the Sonia Kashuk Concealer Palette to cover up imperfections!

Rachel Avatar

I do prime, right now I use That Gal face primer but Im waiting to buy the NARS primer with SPF. for my eyes I use paint pots!

Anna Phalactyc Avatar

I prep for color with a regular exfoliation regime, toner, and plenty of moisturizer! I usually don’t “prime” per se, I usually go moisturizer to concealer and/or foundation without the intermediary step, but when I do, I use Smashbox’s primer, “classic” formula. I find the extra step too much of a schlep, so only really do it for special occassion makeup.

Martha Avatar

I have oily skin and large pores and my makeup fades easily throughout the day. I have tried numerous primers and have found that the best one, at least for my skin type, is Smashbox Photo Finish Light Foundation Primer. I moisturize with Neutrogena Tinted Moisturizer SPF 30, then apply my primer, and then proceed to add color. The MOST IMPORTANT step for me is my makeup setting product…Mally Beauty Evercolor Poreless Face Defender. Skin looks smooth, almost like velvet, and makeup looks perfect all day. The best!

Jenny Avatar

I prep for color by using a toner and moisturizer first. Then I use Smashbox Photo Finish Primer for my face. For my eyes I use Urban Decay Primer Potion and a paintpot. For my lips I use either Burt’s Bees Lip Balm or Korres Jasmin Lip Butter

Raisa Avatar

Awesome Giveaway! I prep for color by using a primer all over my face and lids. I then use a base on my lids like a paint pot before applying shadow!

Erika Avatar

I prep with claris lisse minute …. but it’s not a really good one.. for eyes I use too faced shadow ins.
ahhhh obviously moisturizer first.
good luck to everyone.

Westinflorida Avatar

MAC Prep+Prime SPF50 is by far and above the best primer that I have ever used (and at my age I’ve tried more than a few…). I have not used the serum, but would love to try it. Thank you and please have a nice weekend!!

Michelle A. Avatar

I prime my face with Lorac oil free neutralizer. I have broken capillaries around my nose and this covers them up really well. I’m still looking for a good oil free all over face primer. I love the one by Smashbox but, I get greasy after a couple of hours.

Laurence Avatar

yayy ! a giveway 🙂

i prep my skin by putting my regular moisturizer. then, i pusht the fix plus from mac. it just hydrate my skin really well before applying foundation. for my eyes, when i put heavy makeup, it’s UDPP or concealer.

thanks for the contest.. 🙂

Adrine Avatar

Hi Christine,

I prep for colour by priming with Smashbox Photo Finish Primer. I usually forget to use primer, but when I remember I use my Smashbox primer. I have heard good things about the Tarte primer so I want to try that, but this MAC primer serum sounds amazing!

Thanks,
Adrine

Jenny Avatar

I have many different primers, for my face I’ve been using on different occasions, mac prep + prime transparent powder before and after I apply foundation, (it gives an amazing matte finish when you apply it before!) and I also like mufe and too faced primers as well. For my eyes I only like too faced shadow insurance, I’ve tried many and always go back to too face.

JayJay Avatar

This is my entry! My favourite primer at the moment is Too Faced Primed and Poreless. Also, for the eye, I cannot live without my UDPP.

I would love to try some MAC Primers though 😉

Sarah O. Avatar

I start with a good moisturizer. Prime with L’Oreal Studio Secrets Magic base.(best face primer Ive tried so far) Painterly PP or NYX Jumbo pencil for eyes…

Yvonne Avatar

I’m currently using MAC Prep + Prime Skin and I have the Makeup Forever HD primer in #5 as my back up. I don’t have a favorite yet but I’m pretty new to primers so I’ll see how it goes. 🙂

Meg Avatar

Yay, entering!! I always prep my face simply by washing, toning and a nice, light moisturizer. For color, I love Urban Decay’s potion primer!

Liv Avatar

In the winter, I use Philosophy’s “The Present” primer either under my makeup, or I mix it with my liquid to get lighter coverage. Smashbox Photofinish didn’t work for me at all.

Now that it’s getting warmer, Shiseido’s lotion formulation sunscreens are what I like to use. They are so smooth and fluid, and don’t leave a whitish cast or a grainy feeling like some sunscreens can. I want to try a cream one this winter.

For my eyes, I use either UDPP or a MAC paint

Vale Avatar

I don’t use a primer on my face because my skin is very sensitive, for the eyes I prefer Light Sante Coverstick pencil, it is an european natural organic makeup :).

Tiffany S. Avatar

I prime with MUFE Microperfecting primer on special occasions when I need my makeup to stay put and don’t have time to fix it.

As for my eyes, a method that seems to work for me until near the end of the day is dusting a light coloured eyeshadow on first before anything else. I don’t want to put a thick primer on because I don’t want to tug on the delicate skin around my eyes when removing at the end of the day.

Lauren Sutherland Avatar

I prep for color by blasting Lady Gaga or some other music that just puts me in a great mood! I use Urban Decay Primer Potion for my eyes and Make Up For Ever Hd primer on my face! Love them both!

kpenn09 Avatar

I just use my normal moisturizer and UDPP on my eyes. I miss Guerlain’s old eye primer formula – the new one is horrible! I prep my lips with MAC’s lip conditioner.

Beth Avatar

I use a light moisturizer, then Perfekt Skin Perfection Gel. Sometimes that’s all I do, or I’ll add liquid or powder foundation over that. I prime my eyes with Urban Decay’s Primer Potion.

Jen Avatar

I used to prime but right now I’m “between primers” because my skin doesn’t agree with very much. I find that with the primers I have used, there’s not a huge difference between moisturizing then priming and just moisturizing.

brittany Avatar

I would love to win this. I have never used a primer before just because I never knew how to use it. I am definitely interested and would absolutely love to win! My skin could use some brightening 🙂 You are very generous Christine!

Dini Avatar

I use Smashbox of MUFE primer for my face, then UDPP or a MAC paint pot as a lid primer. Helps keep my face from turning to mush before lunch time!

Twitter: dinidarling7

brittany Avatar

Ohh, I have no idea why I read this wrong, but i do use concealers, I have one I am not sure of the brand, 2faced shadow insurance i believe its called? and a MAC paintpot. None work on me that great though:( I wonder how this one would. I have poily eyelids at times so nothing stays on that great.

Erica Avatar

I ALWAYS “prep for color”! I use UDPP every time I apply eyeshadow, and for times/events I might be photographed, I use Smashbox Photofinish primer before foundation!

Nila Scribner Avatar

What a great site! I’m glad one of the ladies I follow on twitter entered your Mac contest and retweeted your web address.
The only priming I do is with L’Oreal creme stick makeup and Almay concealer. I’m not thrilled with the concealers I’ve been trying, Almay discontinued my favorite cream concealer. (Everything I consider a staple is guaranteed to be discontinued..lol)

katt Avatar

The prepping makes all the difference! I scrub. clean and moisturize first, of course. Then Smashbox Photo Finish(LOOOVE!) foundation primer for the face and Too Faced or Paula Dorf eyeshadow primer, depending on what I’m doing with my eyeshadow that day.

Diana B Avatar

I like to use the Smashbox primer for my face it leaves it so smooth and ready for makeup. On my eyelids right now I’m using TFSI which I really like. I also use Mac Painterly PP and UDPP which are also good. Thanks for the chance Christine.

Elise Avatar

I have such dry skin that I don’t use primer before foundation – just a really heavy cream. On my eyes, I use urban decay primer potion

Katie Avatar

Ooh, another contest! I prep my face with an SPF moisturizer, Milk of Magnesia as a primer (it REALLY works, for all my fellow oily-skin-suffering ladies out there!), and perfect foundation. For eyes, I use UDPP! Thanks, Christine!

Jessica G. Avatar

I prep for color by adding a primer before foundation, also I prep for color by adding a colorless primer to my eyes for shadows.

mini Avatar

I’ve been using the Urban Decay primer potion for the last two years, but they don’t sell it where I live, so I don’t know what I’m going to do when this one runs out!

Nicole Avatar

I prep my eye for color with UDPP or sometime’s benefit’s creaseless cream eyeshadows.
For my face I have been using bare escentuals prime time, but once I am out I think I might switch it up!
🙂

Kate M Avatar

I don’t use a specific primer, I just spray my face with a Dermalogica toner, then use Olay moisturiser with 30+ sunscreen, because of the Australian sun haha!

I do use UDPP on my eyelids though.

x

Laura Avatar

I always use an eye primer. I use a mix of UDPP and Fyrinnae’s Pixie Epoxy. Sometimes I use a face primer, but not always. I have dry skin and sometimes it seems like the more products I use the patchier it looks.

Argeleen Avatar

To prep for For color I just actually use mouisturizer lol I dnt even know if that counts. I never used and primers or anything so this would be so fun to try if I win. Thank you!

kitty Avatar

I use Laura Mercier primer ( it’s very light because it isn’t silicone based and just feels like a moisturiser) and finish with Nars sheer glow foundation.

Charlotte Avatar

I prep with moisturiser on my face, and painterly paint pot on my lids! every time, doesn’t even budge my eyeshadow under hot stage lights!

Crystal Avatar

The best way that I’ve found to prep and prime my skin for a flawless make-up application is by starting off with a nice clean moisturized face. When I start with a nice clean face, my foundation lasts longer and I use less product to achieve the results that I desire.

Princesa Livia Avatar

I use MAC paint pots to prime my eyelids prior to every eyeshadow application, and to prime my face, I just moisturise it. Sometimes I do use a face primer though which is MAC’s Prep n Prime 🙂

Retweeted: xprincesaliviax

Maria Avatar

I love smashbox’s primer for my face and urban decay primer for my eyes. These always make my foundation and eyeshadow look flawless and my makeup last all day.

Jennifer Avatar

I wash my face and moisturize before I put on foundation and I always use some sort of eyeshadow primer such as Urban Decay Primer Potion

Annie Avatar

The way I “Prep for colour” is using a primer. i absolutely ADORE the MAC “Matte”. I have oily skin so its great for mattifying my T-zone. Its a gel consistency and i strongly recommend it 🙂

p.s. thank you so much for doing this contest! i love your website and videos <3

Sharon Avatar

Yes, I always prime on my face because my skin is super sensitive! I’ve used MAC prep + prime, smashbox photo finish and now I use Tarte clean slate, which I am in love with!

For color, I don’t really use primer that much anymore, instead, I use paint because it makes the colors more vibrant, but when I do use primer, I use Too Faced insurance.

NatalieK Avatar

I use UDPP for eyes but I think it’s time for a new one; it’s starting to dry streaky! I also like Smashbox photo finish primer in original for face, but it does break me out it I don’t wash carefully!

Heatherann Avatar

I’m still searching for the perfect primer, but lately I’ve been using a Korres one. I also sometimes just use chafing gel.

Soly Avatar

I’ve been using the Sephora mattifying primer. It’s not the best and its not the worst! But I’m the kind of gal who, unless the product breaks me out, will use it till its done! I’m always up for new recommendations!

My eyes though, no question, Urban Decay Primer Potion with maybe a Paint Pot for color! Love it!

Shela Tat Avatar

Prime, prime, prime! Always! I’ve been alternating between e.l.f.’s Studio mineral primer, Shiseido make-up pre-make-up cream, and MAC Prep+Prime and they’re all amazing!

suzette rodriquez Avatar

I would like to enter this contest. yes I like to prime when I am able to afford one, my favorite is the photo finish by smashbox, the purple one..I never tried the mac one.

Alisha in WI Avatar

Have primer but never use it unless I have dry patches. I do like to prime my lids though, I have a Lancome primer pot thing that I really like. I like the texture that I can just pat it on and it blends as I do that. I also use cream shadows b/c I can’t wear them on their own and can’t figure out what to do with them, I’m too oily!

Arielle Avatar

I prep for colour by using nyx jumbo eyeshadow pencils! They’re my favorite. As for my face, I’m still looking for a good primer for that.

Anna Avatar

I do not prime, I just use a moisturizing face lotion (Clean and Clear) and then apply my mineral foundation. It works well enough for me =D

Daphnee Avatar

My prep for color routine involves applying moisturizer and Smashbox Photo Finish primer. I used the MAC’s primer w/o the SPF for a while…I liked it but now I’m trying others to find my HG. Thanks for hosting another fab giveaway!

Hannelore Avatar

Please enter me in the contest=) I have tried a Sephora primer I got as a gift but it was too greasy for my face so I’m in need of a new one! for my eyes I like to use Painterly Paintpot by Mac though it does end to crease on me!
Thanks for the contest!;)
xx

Daniella Avatar

It depends whether I prime or not. If it’s just around the house or minimal outside exposure ;0p I usually do not prime. But when I do I either use Smashbox Photofinish light or laura merier hydrating primer. I usually always prime my eyes though with Urban Decay Primer Potion or TooFaced Shadow Insurance. I just feel sometimes primer gives me a smoother canvas to work with

lauraaaaaaaa Avatar

eNter me please! I prime with a great water-resistant foundation like MAC f&b. then i powder my tzone. then im all prepped for makeup!

Gina Avatar

I “prep for colour” by using my favorite primer by MAC called Prep+Prime followed by my MAC Studio Fix Powder Plus Foundation to give me a perfect canvas before painting. I can’t forget the Urban Decay Primer potion to keep my eyelid color on all day!

Marissa B Avatar

If i am going for a night out I sometimes put a primer on to keep my makeup lookin fresh all night. I’ve tried SkinFX and SMashbox but for most days I prefer to go without!

Ashley Avatar

I first use my Clinique Acne Solutions Clearing Moisturizer to suck up and keep my face super matte and then I just use my Smashbox’s Photo Finish in Light.

piper Avatar

I will prime my eyes when I want that vibrant look but sometimes I want that barely there unprimed look. Without an oily face I can usually get away with it.

Bedalyz Avatar

Oohhh, this is a giveaway I can’t miss!

Primer is very important for me. I have different primers, from ones with silicones to others that are more hydrating to those that are illuminating. What I look the most in a primer is how easy it makes the foundation application. I do sometimes just use a good moisturizer as primer (If I’m going for simple looks or don’t want to add many products to my face). Some sunscreens are excellent primers too–Neutrogena Dry Sheer Sunscreen is quite good.

My fave primer to date is the MAC Prep+Prime SPF 50 because is makes my skin glowy while doing some work at controlling oil and I save a step on my skincare routine because it provides a high SPF.

**Crosses fingers** =)

lovesmakeup Avatar

I prep with biore toner, olay moisturizer, and mac prep and prime skin on my face. For my eyes, I use too faced shadow insurance and painterly paint pot. Thanks for entering me.

Dini23 Avatar

For the eye I use either UDPP or TFSI. Because I have dark eyelid, sometimes I used NYX jumbo eye pencil to make the color pop 🙂

Kim Avatar

I prep for color with Smashbox’s color correcting primer in green as I have some redness to my face, and then following up with Origina Multigrain.

Yb Avatar

I actually use MAC Prep n Prime Eye, and Prep n Prime Face with SPF50 before applying make up. They are not spectacular but they do their job ^^

Sha Avatar

I prime my face with MAC’s prep and prime, I even like to mix with the moisturiser sometimes so it absorbs better (somehow? lol!) it makes a world of difference especially with my oily skin and the humidity in Singapore. I then put on foundation, concealer and pat setting powder all over. Lastly, I prime my lips with a bit of chapstick and my eyelids with UDPP. That’s my blank canvas, all prepped for colour! 😀

Marta Fernandes Avatar

I used to prime my face but I gave it up because I didn’t notice any difference other than the fact that it made my make-up look cakey. I do prime my eyes with Prep+Prime Eye. I have very oily eyelids so the use of a primer is a must.

Pam Avatar

I rarely use primer but i would like to try someday 🙂 I just make sure to wash my face, put moisturizer on. I do, however, use urban decay primer potion.

Amanda Avatar

I ALWAYS prime my eyes and lips – Too Faced Shadow Insurance and MAC’s Prep+Prime lip are my faves.

I tend to not prime my face, I find there is not enough time in the morning for this step!

Teresa Avatar

I prep for colour by cleansing of course and letting my moisturizer sink in. Some days foundation is my base too 🙂 I am deciding on what face primer to get. Thank you for the contest! RT’d!

SweetMarie Avatar

I go with the classics to prep for color — Smashbox primer for my face and Urban Decay P.Potion for the eyes. I do intend to branch out to paint pots soon, however! Bear Study by MAC is on my wishlist.

Lara Avatar

I don’t use a face primer (I probably should but I only use a tinted moisturizer, if anything 😛 ) but I usually use Urban Decay Primer Potion or a MAC Paint Pot to prime my eyes.

Katharine Avatar

After letting my Dermalogica moisturiser sink in, I use MAC Prep+Prime on face, and Too Faced eyeshadow insurance on eyes. Highly recommend the too faced (UDPP applicator annoys me)- I had eyeshadow on for 14 hours yesterday and it didn’t fade. By the 9th or 10th hour I had minor creasing on my inner lid, but that was easily fixed.

Jamie Welch Avatar

I use a face primer, Smashbox photo finish lite, and eyeshadow primer which I alternate between TFSI and UDPP. Of course I love using mac painterly paint pot as a base for eyeshadow too!

Michele Avatar

I got a sample of the skin brightening from MAC and I love it. Also, I use Smashbox lid primer before putting on my eyeshadow but I find that it lightens my entire lid area too much. I want to switch to something else but I’m not sure what.

Cindy Avatar

In general I prime w/ Prep & Prime under foundation, and either Soft Ochre Paint Pot or Urban Decay Primer Potion. Although I do have several other Paint Pots as the situation requires.

FlyingBuffalo Avatar

I don’t really “prep” for colour, although I use a concealer under blush and everything else. Thanks for doing this, Temptalia, its really generous!

jenn Avatar

I am definitely a primer queen! I have tried urban decay, smashbox, make up forever, and classifed era primers…my fav is still smashbox although it does have a silicone feel. Definitely also prime my eyes with UDPP.

Kara Avatar

garnier light cream as a GREAT make-up base! etude house bb cream as tinted moisturizer for a flawless skin, loose powder. great for a flawless skin look! for eye shadow, etude house proof 10 eyeshadow primer! it will make the make-up last all day long!

Ashley Avatar

I looooove the new Studio Secrets Magic Perfecting Base by L’Oreal. I haven’t had much luck with eyeshadow primers though, boo 🙁

Rebecca Avatar

I prep for colour by priming my face. I am extra oily, so I use oil control lotion and primer. I love Givenchy Mister Mat, MUFE All Mat, and Tarte CLean slate

Carissa Avatar

I’ve never had the opportunity to try a primer. Usually I slather sunscreen on a clean moisturized face before applying makeup!

kat Avatar

I haven’t found that holy grail face primer yet, but I always use Urban Decay’s Primer Potion at all times…though I don’t even like it. ;( (my liner still smears!) I then go about smearing foundation all over my face with a makeup sponge.

Proximity Avatar

I use primer. I’m currently using MUFE’s green primer, to tone down redness. I like this one a lot, but the best primer I’ve tried is the Hourglass primer. It is SO GOOD. When I run out of my MUFE primer, I want to get a bottle of the Hourglass despite the high price.

Chiara Avatar

Moisturing, and sometimes with chanel “le blanc” primer or Ysl “top secret”primer. And sometimes I use a paint pot or urban decay primer potion on my lids

Evelyn Avatar

I prime both my face and eye. For face, I either use Laura Mercier Primer or Shu Uemura UV Under Base Mousse. For eye, I use foundation/concealer to prime.

Kelly Avatar

It is really ridiculous how much I put on my face! I start with cetaphil on my t-zone, then Shiseido 55 sunscreen, MAC studio moisture cream all over, then Smashbox primer, or Cargo liquid powder as a primer finally foundation. Christine, if you know of a primer with high SPF please let me know so I can skip a step. For my eyes I use Urban Decays Sin primer or MAC’s cream colour base in pearl.

Arlene Avatar

Hi Christine! I don’t prime because of my budget but I would love to try MAC prep & prime though. Pick me pick me pick me! :-))

DreamingofNYC Avatar

I don’t use a face primer, just my Bobbi Brown oil control moisturizer SPF 15 (which I loooove)

For eyes I like MAC paintpots or Benefit cream shadows

Kimber Avatar

I prep for colour by using either MAC Bare Study paint pot, or Urban Decay Primer Potion. Unfortunately I don’t use a primer on my face b/c I can’t find one that doesn’t make my face look worse (my skin looks dryer & therefore the foundation looks less flawless). I have not tried any of MAC’s face primers, though!

lizzyliz Avatar

I don’t prime my face I don’t own a primer :\ but I use urban decay primer potion on my eyes and prep my lips for lipstick with carmex 🙂 I wanna win! 😀

Mimi Avatar

I love Eve Pearl’s moisturizing primer. Its my ultimate favorite! 2 in 1..works great!! for the eyes i use either paint pots or the TF eyeshadow insurance. =)

Sara Avatar

I prep for colour on my eyes by using my trusted UDPP and as for my face i for the moment use MUFE HD primer but i dont think it makes much of a difference as to lasting power – i have smashbox and illamasqua and honestly i notice no difference!!!

Sable Avatar

I dont really prime my face, just use moisturizer but I always use primer for my eyeshadow, urban decay is my favorite! My shadow always last overnight.

Konnie Avatar

I always use a moisturizer and sometimes a makeup base-I have a couple from sephora brand and I quite like them! I usually use a little bit of makeup too, but not all over the face-just on my t-zone! Finally, I apply a layer of translucent power, to help eliminate the shine 🙂

KristinL Avatar

I prep for colour by first, moisturizing my skin then, using BB cream to have glowing skin, primer to make the look last all day, and then foundation. If needed, I also use setting powder to make it all intact:)

Karen Avatar

For my face, i cleanse, tone and moisturize before putting on makeup. I don’t use any face primer. As a base for eyeshadow, I use MAC Painterly.

Sharon Avatar

I don’t often wear a full face of makeup, honestly — still haven’t found that HG foundation that won’t make the lines around my mouth look worse, and even tinted moisturizers have that effect — so typically I’ll go with BeneFit’s That Gal alone on my face and MAC’s Painterly paint pot on my eyes.

Thank you for the giveaway, Christine! 🙂

Michelle Avatar

Yes! I prime! My favorite face primer is the one by cover fx. Favorite eye primer? Mac pain pots! oh how i heart them
xoxo
Michelle

Kylie Avatar

i use gorgeous cosmetics primer. its the ONLY one i own 🙁 but other than that, i would always ALWAYS moisturise my face first :)for eyes…the one and only urban decay primer potion that everyone loves..

Elaine Avatar

I love reading your blog!! 🙂
I prep for colour by using my concealor and a little bit of powder or I use urban decay primer potion. I always want to ask for a sample of MAC face primers but I’m too shy…
Great giveaway by the way!

<3 Elaine

meghan Avatar

I don’t use facial primer although I have tried two but neither made much of a difference. My Clinique DDM Gel is what I put on before foundation and it acts somewhat as a primer because of the gel consistency. I like UDPP for eyes. Hope I win!

cmferret Avatar

i prep my face for colour by always washing my face with philosophy purity cleanser, then add moisturizer in clinique diff lotion, then a primer either in smashbox, mac or nars ( i change up bc all i have are samples.) then i add my mac msf in natural all over the face, mac studio sculpt conceler under eyes and over blemishes, then with the eye i either use mac painterly, too faced shadow insurance or urban decay primer potin (any of them dep on which one i grab first).
at night i take off my makeup with mac face wipes and then use philosophy hope in a jar (luv this stuff) .
please enter me christine, why ?…. bc i luv MAC ! =)

Nic Avatar

I almost always use eye primer (UDPP), but only use foundation primer about half the time (the rest of the time I just moisturize). Haven’t decided what my favorite is, but so far I’m liking NARS, UD Pore Perfecting, and Smashbox Photo Finish Light.

Jessica Avatar

yes i do prime! i have 2 of the prep & primes from mac, one is regular and one is spf 50. i also have the sample primer from bare minerals that works good. i find the spf primer does control shine better whem compared with the reg one.

Cindy Avatar

I use UDPP for eyeshadow primer and Smashbox’s primer for my face. Can’t leave without those products. Would love to win the MAC Prep & Prime skin brightening serum!

Thanks for hosting the giveaway! 🙂

Melinda Avatar

Hello Christine Can I be the lucky winner Plz 😀 I Normaly Use some Primer like Rimmel drug store or JanMarini it works awesome but to pricey for me :O( oxoxox Melinda

Melissa Avatar

What a great prize, I’d love to enter. I absolutely prep for color by priming, usually using a MAC paintpot. Soft Ochre & Painterly are my two go to choices. I use Lancome’s La Face primer before foundation, I’ve tried dozens and it’s by FAR my favorite. :o)

GG Avatar

With my oily skin and lids I have top prime. I love, love, love Clinique Pore Minimizer Instant perfector and Too Faced Shadow Insurance layered beneath a MAC Paint Pot. If I don’t prime my makeup disappears within an hour!

Maggie. Avatar

i use smashbox oil free primer for the face and urban decay primer potion for the eyes, with a MAC paint pot over it as necessary!

Heather Avatar

I start of my prep for color by using a good, oil free moisturizer. I then use my favorite eye primer (MAC painterly paint pot) to even out my eye lids and create a sticky base for my eyeshadows. I then finish my prep for color with my foundation primer (MAC Prep and Prime Face Visage is my favorite) to even out and smooth my skin texture.

Monica Avatar

I don’t use a face primer before putting on foundation, but I do use UDPP as I have extremely greasy lids and my eye shadow can never stay on!

Yukie Avatar

i always prime my eyes… urban decay primer potion or two faced shadow insurance.
i’m still in the search for a good primer for my face because i have oily skin. any suggestions?

Jacquelyn Avatar

I used to use Rimmel’s Fix and Perfect Foundation Primer everyday before I apply my foundation to go on smoother but lately I have abandoned it and don’t use face primer anymore since I don’t ever get time. My favorite eyeshadow primer is Too Faced Shadow Insurance and I love it! I’m on my second tube of it and I prefer that over Urban Decay Primer Potion. Sometimes I’ll reach for my paint pots in Girl Friendly or Fresco Rose.

Michelle Avatar

I usually prep with a good moisturizer with a higher spf, 30 or above. I also make sure my lips are prepped while i’m doing the rest of my face as well, with chapstick or a tinted lip conditioner. 🙂

Clara Avatar

primers are a must for me, primers give the glowy skin look. I use shiseido ‘The Makeup’ smoothing veil as foundation primer and urban decay eyeshadow primer potion(original).

Shirley Avatar

I always use Urban Decay Primer Potion to help my eyeshadow and eyeliner. For foundation, I always use Make Up For Ever HD Primer

Twitter: shirrrley

amber Avatar

I definitely use primer, my new fav primer is Hourglass Cosmetics Veil Mineral Primer! It’s great, even though it’s nearly $60 a bottle, so luckily the product seems to last long. Thanks! 🙂

Ashleyr Avatar

I prep for color with good ol sunblock! It’s essential for healthy skin and my makeup goes on smooth after applying it. Oh, and always be sure to wash your face!

Lindsey Avatar

I just take great care of my skin, and make sure to moisturize really well and create a good base for any products I put on. 🙂

Also love my MAC paint pots for making eyeshadow pop. 😉

SPVANG Avatar

URBAN DECAY PRIMER POTION (BOTH ORIGINAL AND SIN). No face primer on a daily basis but I do have trial sizes in SMASHBOX PHOTOFINISH and MAKEUP FOREVER. I want to try MAC’s prep+prime.

Eunice Avatar

i don’t really prime my face but my sunscreen kinda has priming properties 😛 it smoothens and mattes out my face so it works for me 🙂

Liz Avatar

I’d like to enter to win 🙂
I always always use an eye primer, usually Lumene, but also TFSI or a MAC paint pot. It’s the very first makeup I put on my face in the morning. As for face primer – I own a few but rarely wear them, only when I have the extra time and feel like it.

Ruby Avatar

i prep for colour with a clean and moisturized face then follow with M.A.C’s Prep n Prime its my favorite so far! and i use M.A.C. Paint Pot in Soft Ochre before eyeshadow.

Christie Avatar

before applying my foundation, i apply a facial moisturizer, then i apply my primer (Smashbox photofinish light) then my foundation. before applying eyeshadow, i apply Too Faced eyeshadow insurance then my eyeshadow

Jamie Avatar

I use MAC’s Painterly Paint Pot every day to ‘prep for color’ on my eyes. I don’t use face primer, just Laura Mercier tinted moisturizer. Thanks! Twitter name: LuvMAC56

LittlePanda Avatar

I prep for color by moisturizing really well at night. So I can have a fresh canvas in the morning. No flakies means my foundation will look great, and then so will the colors 🙂

Anita Avatar

Ooh. Another give away! Hm…I prep for colour with various things. I haven’t quite picked one thing I like and tend to rotate through trying new stuff. So far, I’ve used the Laura Mercier Primer, NARS Primer, Smashbox Photofinish — and then Trish McEvoy tinted moisturizer or NARS Sheer Matte Foundation.

Hannah Avatar

I don’t often prime my face before applying foundation because I have rather dry skin, but when I do I use Smashbox… I would love to try out the MAC primer though, because I’d always like to maximize the longevity of my makeup!

Jen Avatar

Please enter me in the contest! I use Benefit FY eye to prime my lids so that any colourful look will stay uncreased and as vibrant at the end of the day as when I apply!

Lorna Avatar

i do prep for color. i start with a clean face, add a little toner and then i use a foundation primer (MURAD oil control mattifier or MAC Face Protect Sp 50). when using eye products i use UDPP or two faced shadow insurance. i tend to slick a little balm on my lips before lipstick as well. i have never used a primer for mascara however. i think that would definitely be too much.

Jade Avatar

Yay! I ‘Prep for Colour’ by applying primers to my eyelids and face! Of course beforehand I make sure to properly wash (w/ Neutrogena or Papaya soap), tone (w/ Dickinson’s Witch Hazel Pore Perfecting Toner), and moisturize (w/ Olay or Ponds). If I’m not pressed for time I will prime my face with Hard Candy’s Sheer Envy Primer and if I want to use eye shadow I will use Too Faced Shadow Insurance. Nothing fancy or expensive as of now–I just started using makeup seriously around my 19th birthday late of last year.

Kianna Avatar

I usually don’t use a primer but if I was going out , I would use Rimmel London’s Fix & Perfect or Smashbox Photo-finish Primer .

Alice Avatar

I prime!

I have 4 favorites I used to switch around, but now I just add a drop of each in my hand (about equal to how much I would use of just one primer) and mix it all together. Is that weird?

I ♥:
MAC strobe cream
Illamasqua Satin Primer
Borghese Prima Viso
Hourglass Mineral Veil

My makeup lasts through the day, and I definitely like the result on my skin.

Jaime Avatar

This is a great giveaway! I like to prep for colour with a good moisturizer (since primer tends to dry out my skin) and a good eyeshadow base.

Victoria Avatar

I LOVE to use Sofina Perfect UV sunscreen as a matte base under foundation. I also use UDPP and/or Fyrinnae Pixie Epoxy for an eye base.

Karin Avatar

Starting with my moisturizer, then for special occassions Benefit’s That Gal. For eyes I use Artdeco Eyeshadow Base (German Brand) every single day for nearly 8 years now.
Can’t stand UDPP, not working for me.

bj Avatar

I can only use most face primers infrequently, as I’m sensitive to the ‘cones in so many of them, but I sometimes use Laura Mercier’s primer. I vary eye primers, though, and used Too Faced Shadow Insurande and Mac paintpots the most.

Erin K Avatar

Priming for me is a must! I use Urban decay primer potion for my lids and my moisturizer as a primer for my foundation. Its the only way my colour lasts all day!

Erin K Avatar

Priming for me is a must! I use urban decay primer potion on my lids and my moisturizer on my face for my foundation. Its the only way my colour lasts all day!

Thanks!

Monet Avatar

I only use UDPP on my lids to prime, and there’s I little *insert ingredient name here* in my moisturizer so I don’t really use a face primer. Thank for the contest!

Christine Avatar

I start off with a nice clean face, and then I moisturize with MAC Studio Moisture Cream (Can’t get enough of this stuff). When I’m done with my foundation I gravitate towards Too Faced Shadow Insurance.

Corinna Avatar

Wow, such a great Prize, I am dying to get this, because all those items were sold out in a minute at my Counter!

I tried Benefit BadGal Face Primer, but it smells like Bubble Gum and it also felt like this on my Skin.
Now I am using differnet primers from MAC (Prep & Prime Lip, Lash, Line Filler…) but I have no face Primer.

Kristen Avatar

I usually don’t prime my face unless it’s a special occasion, but I always use MAC Paint Pot in “Painterly” as an eyeshadow primer. I LOVE that stuff! Couldn’t live without it!

Jiwon Avatar

I don’t really use primer before my foundation, just moisturizer and sunscreen for my dry skin. But I definetly use Urban Decay Pimer Potion for my eyes! I heard mac’s prep prime is really good! great chance to try out!!! Thanks=)

phuongk Avatar

hi christine, my prep consists of putting on a good base like eyeshadow base, moisturizer, but not often face primer because i think it feels funny (the silicone). i also follow you on twitter by the same name and i’m retweeting.

Patti Avatar

I always, always use a primer on my eyes – I just can’t get the color and the long-lasting quality that I want without it! I actually use Mary Kay’s version; it may not be the best, but I love ordering it from my aunt and it’s always worked well for me.

ee Avatar

i dont prep for colour but i defintely want to try some high end and low end primers ill be sure to be looki ng at your review for help thanks christine

Rachael Avatar

When I’m not lazy (which it not very often) I’ll use a face primer before applying my foundation, but 100% of the time I’ll use UDPP under my eyeshadow! Really curious to see how Prep & Prime Skin Brightening Serum would work out for me…

Antonia Avatar

I use benefit bad gal for winter and shu uemura uv under base in the mousse form in the summer (this is THE best primer for sumer btw – and live in brazil)

samantha Avatar

I don’t really prime. I used to use MAC’s prep and prime for the face, but I realized that I didn’t see much of a difference when I didn’t use it. But I do HAVE to use a primer for my eye lids 🙂

Vlcatko Avatar

After I moisturize my face I usually use some kind of primer first. My favorite at the moment is Smashbox Anti-shine and MAC P+P Face Protect SPF 50. If I do not plan on wearing a foundation I might use Too faced Primed&Poreless. And I always prep my eyes with Too Faced Shadow Insurance 🙂

Aretha Wan Avatar

I always use a cosmetically elegant sunscreen such as Shiseido sunscreen and follow up with Laura Mercier foundation primer for a flawless base. =)

Honestly? First of all, I have to prep and prime myself mentally! I’m still learning to try things out of the ordinary for me, and that definitely includes colour, so for myself, the biggest thing is mustering up the courage to try something out there colour-wise!

Make-up wise though – I always use a good primer. I like Bare Escentuals Prime Time for my face, since it’s formulated without parabens or any of that nasty stuff, and I’m starting to see the benefit of eyeshadow primer, like UDPP!!!

Grace Avatar

I actually have never used a primer for my face or my eyes but I’m just now starting to get into it and looking for new products to try!

MissingNan Avatar

I typically prep with Mac Prep + Prime before ANY color; however, just recently have fallen in love with Korres’ Quercetin & Oak Age-reversing Primer! Would loooove a new reason to fall back in love with Mac! 😉

xoxo

Iben Avatar

I use Smashbox’ primers, at the moment it’s Photo Finish Light. I like the original the best though, but I had to try the light version to see how it worked 🙂 Besides from that I use Eye Insurance 🙂

Irene Avatar

i dont usually use face primer before i put my makeup on. i only put moisturizer and concealer to prep my skin. however, i use eye primer before i put color on my eyes. i use too faced shadow insurance or mac paint pots.

cathy Avatar

i gotta use Urban Decay’s Primer Potion to prep the lids.

For the face my favorite is Mac’s cause it has a nice sheen to it and gives the glowy look.

Liz Avatar

I prep for color by using the face primer under my foundation. To hold color on my eyes I put foundation under the eyeshadow with my awesome foundation MAC brush. I also use urban decays eye primer when going out.

dreamym Avatar

I actually don’t prep my face. I just use a moisturizer first and then my mineral foundation. This combination currently works for me, but I do believe its efficiency varies depending on individuals’ skin type.

Judy Avatar

Other than Mac Painterly for my eyes, I prefer no primer for my face. I don’t like the greasy feel after I put on the primer. A moisturizer and sunscreen serve as my usual primer for face makeup. But I sure would like to try that new brightening primer. 🙂

Peggy Avatar

I definitely need to prime before putting on my foundation, i like the MUFE primer in the green corrector to cancel out reddness!

Katrina Avatar

>I wash my face with clinique mild liquid soap
>exfoliate with clinique clarifying lotion 3
>moisturize with either stila sheer tinted moisturizer in light, or laura mercier tinted moisturizer in nude
>prep + prime skin

so far i’m using prep + prime and sephora primer, and i can’t really tell if they have different effects on makeup staying power.

Wendy Avatar

I prep with Chanel UV Essentiel Multi-Protection Daily Care SPF 50 / PA+++ for the entire face, Chanel White Essentiel Whitening Modeling Effect Base SPF 30 / PA+++ in Azur for areas that need a quick pick up, and Urban Decay Primer Potion or MAC Paint Pot in Painterly for the eyes.

Jennifer Avatar

I prime my face with a mattifying (spelling?) primer on my t-zone. My new favorite lid primer is Eden from Urban Decay! So creamy and pigmented!

eveli Avatar

I’ve never used primer before but now that I’m getting older I see what a difference it does to my skin and every time I wear foundation I use Mac prep and prime!

Emmi Avatar

I don’t use a foundation primer, just because I have not really found one that works for me. But I never go without moisturiser and Shadow insurance.

Natashia Avatar

1st I start with a moisturizer, them MAC’s Prep and Prime Skin, as well as Prep + Prime Skin Refined Zone to create the perfect canvas for the perfect look!

Candice Avatar

i don’t exactly prime but I do use something that helps provide a base for my makeup to stay on longer and it has worked for me
I use sunscreen as my primer if you would like to say cause it actually helps my makeup to stay on because it is somewhat tacky and also provides protection from the sun 😀

Madee Avatar

I never not prime. Priming I believe is essential. My faviourite primer is the benefit primer. And on eyes bare study paint pot. I’d love to enter this competition. Thanks!

Joy Avatar

I actually don’t wear any primer at all. I just apply my moisturizer and use that as a base for my makeup and it does the job pretty well. I even get asked all the time what I use on my face and when I reply with just moisturizer and studio fix + powder, they freak out! I use cetaphil moisturizer btw…just ordered laneige moisturizer to give it a spin. 😉

Lani Avatar

Great giveaway, I’d love to enter. My fave primer is the regular Smashbox primer. I’ve tried many others but I keep going back to Smashbox. I don’t know if it really makes a difference but I do it anyways.

Jenny Avatar

Priming is essential for me! I prep my skin with moisturizer and the Hard Candy face primer before I put on foundation or tinted moisturizer. I prep my lids with good ol’ Too Faced Shadow insurance prior to eyeshadow or liner (I have the oiliest lids ever!).

milly Avatar

I always have to prime my face with a primer before applying my foundation for it to give a flawless finish. I us m.a.c’s prep & prem skin refined zone. X

Jess Avatar

I don’t use facial primer (I haven’t found one that I like yet), but I do use UDPP every time I wear eye shadow, and I tell everyone I know about it and its magical powers! I can’t believe how long I lived without it, when it was there, waiting to help me and my creasing!

Victoria Avatar

I like to use Make Up Forever’s foundation primer on my face, although my Sofina suncreen makes an excellent primer as well. For my eyes I love Too Faced Shadow Insurance

Almost black. Avatar

I always use a primer. Currently I have 2 of them – Shiseido Smoothing Veil and Smashbox (the pink/peach one). I love them both and they made my life much easier when it comes to applying foundation in the perfect way. 🙂

Chester Avatar

I don’t prime my face but I’m going to buy Prep+Prime Face Protect w/ SPF50 once my sun lotion is used up. At the moment I only used moisturizer and sun lotion w/ SPF30 and make sure to let it sink in completely before I apply any make up.
But I prime my eyes. I use paint pots, Bare Study gets the most love.

Jess H Avatar

I always prime! As Napoleon Perdis said, not to prime is a crime!! I prime with inglot’s makeup base, and it is amaaaaazing. Only $30, and you need only the tiniest, tiniest bit! It’s fabulous, oil soaking, and it just feels amazingly silky. My foundation goes on really well afterwards 🙂 I like it better than NP primer!

Lurique Avatar

After letting my moisturiser sink in, I use Guerlain’s Meteorites primer in the winter or MAC prep+prime face protect (SPF50) in the summer and then I put my foundation on. Underneath my eyeshadow I use Lancome’s long lasting softening concealer.

Nele Avatar

For my face I use a moisturizer and MUFE HD primer. For my eyes I use either MAC Paintpot in Painterly or Benefits F.Y.Eye!

I would love to try MAC’s Prep+Prime!

Ina Avatar

Hi! I would like to enter the contest. I prep my skin with Lumene primer, it is a water-based transparent primer and o n my lids I use a tinted mosturiser by Avon, it really helps eliminate the creasing of eyeshadows. I am also following you on twitter and have RTed (novasusa is my ID)

shandy Avatar

I don’t prime my face but i think i need to. My face becomes dry and flakly when i used some foundation. But i would love to dry out mac prep for colour products.

Maddie Avatar

ENTER ME PLEASE
I am in love with prepping my eyes with Painterly Paint Pot
<3 of my life
An as for face…still looking for my perfect primer 🙁

natasha Avatar

don’t use a base for make up, but priming the eyes is almost a must… i love the eye base by artdeco <3

greets from vienna, austria

Susi Avatar

Great idea! I use MAC Prep&Prime Skin followed by my Bobbi Brown Moisture Rich Foundation in alabaster – I love this combination, it makes my skin look absolutely flawless!

Eli Avatar

I use several primers: Sephora’s perfection primer and zero shine, mac prep+prime and mac strobe. Prep+prime is my favourite! For the eyes I use artdeco shadow base or mac bare study.

Anai Avatar

I use MAC Prep + Prime Face and Oil Control Lotion to prep before foundation, and Fast Relief Eye Cream to get rid of the creases under my eyes. Then I apply my Studio Sculpt and put on MAC’s Fresco Rose paint pot as a prep for my eyeshadow because it’s so light compared to my skin that it just blends in :P)

dana Avatar

hi ,this is the only site , where i always have to look for swatches before i purchase anything from MAC. prep+prime is something which i need to have in my cosmetics box its the most essential thing i need before i put my makeup on. i have tried other brands but unfortunately nothing is like MAC Prep+prime this is what suitable for my skin.

Angel Avatar

Hey 🙂

I don’t use a foundation primer all the time but when I do, I use the MAKE UP FOREVER Oil Free Face Matifying Primer. It’s amazing.

For eyeshadow primer, I just use my under-eye concealer(the MAC Select Moisturecover concealer) or a cream colour base which usually helps my eyeshadow last longer.

Thanks for this opportunity 🙂

shakila Avatar

i moisturise and then apply clinique super city sun block spf 40, which has a high spf factor and doubles up as a primer too, in terms of eyes i always use mac soft ochre paint pot, never udpp i find it hard to blend with… is this just me being wierd or do guys have this prob 2????

Daniëlle Avatar

I apply moisturizer and foundation, with my light skin-tone it’s very important to have a flawless face when pulling off color.
And at my lids I use too faced shadow insurance.
I haven’t found a good and affordable face-primer yet..

Tracey Kaste Avatar

Yes I prime, right now I am using Isomers but have used many, to include: smashbox, Laura Mericer, Bare Escentuals… Still looking for the perfect one!

androgynes Avatar

actually I don’t have primer because I can’t efford it, mostly I use a lipstick to prime my eyes and it works for me for a few more hours but I really want to try a real primer for once 🙂

Olivia F. Avatar

I actually don’t use primer on my face, but since I’ve been using Face And Body Foundation by MAC, along with the increasingly hot weather, I think I should start. For the eyes, it’s always Urban Decay Primer Potion.

Rebekka Avatar

The thing I most often do is using eyeshadow base, apart from that it really depends on the occasion – foundation primer I use only every once in a while, it feels too caked on with the suncreen underneath and all.

M&M Avatar

I don’t always use a primer to prep for colour; depends on the day. If I want my makeup to last longer, I’ll use Smashbox’s light photofinish primer. I do always use primer on the eyes though, usually UDPP, hoping to try out a MAC paint pot soon.

Tammerly Avatar

I prime my face with Napoleon Perdis Auto Pilot Primer & I prime my eyelids with Benefit Cosmetics Stay Dont Stray because I find these both work best –
but, mind you I have not tried M.A.C Cosmetics’ primers.

Holly Avatar

Hi!! I prep for colour always – NARS Primer is my current fave because it has a nice smell! I always prep my eyes with MAC’s Bare Study paint pot also 🙂

Selena Avatar

Urban Decay primer for my eyes. Depending on the weather, MUFE All Mat primer, Korres silicone free primer, or Avon Magix face perfector.

t_zwiggy Avatar

I only use moisturizer (and/or sunscreen) under my foundation. On my eyes I always use UD primer potion, and sometimes MAC paint pot in painterly if my lids look very discolored.

Sabrina Avatar

I prep with a good face serum to smooth and moisturize my skin, then I use Holy Crow under my eyes and a good primer on my eyelids if I’m using shadow that day. I do occasionally use BE face primer, but not often.

ALessa Ngo Avatar

I don’t use any expensive primer. Instead, I use vaseline jelly combined with concealer to prime my eyes. For my face, I use Monistat Chafing Relief Power-Gel. They’re ok but I want to try the real one someday.

Courtney Avatar

For the face, the only thing I do to prep is moisturize. I’ve tried primers in the past, but I’m usually too lazy to add that extra step in.

For the eyes, I always use TFSI and then depending on the colors I’m using, maybe a paint pot to bring out the color.

Sandra Avatar

I don’t prime my face, but I think I would like to start doing so if it will benefit my look. Im new to makeup so Im willing to try anything. 🙂

Anne Avatar

I use Smashbox’s Photo Finish Primer for eyelids because I got it in a box set (the one for brown eyes). It’s terrific–eyeshadow has never creased on me when I’ve worn it. Will I buy it again? Unfortunately, no. It’s $20 for .1 oz, whereas UD’s Primer Potion is $18 for .34 oz–more than three times more for $2 less!

skromni Avatar

I use primer in every makeup. Mu favourites are: Urban Decay Pore Perfecting primer portion, MAC prep+prime and MAC SPF 50 prep+prime

PJ Avatar

I love this collection. I prep for colour on my face with That Gal Benefit primer, and on my lids I use my all-time fave Urban Decay primer potion.

lisaannie Avatar

I use a primer every time. I love to use MAC paint pots as an eye primer. I haven’t tried MAC’s face primer yet – right now I use Kevyn Aucoin primer. But I am open to new things!!

Jen Avatar

I prep for color with NARS primer since I have a sample for my face, and I always use TFSI and sometimes MAC Bare Study paint pot on my eyes, and then my lips I moisturize with Korres Lip Butter or Lip Venom Primer. 🙂

stephanie Avatar

i rarely prime, ( i have mufe hd primer in green..and the green is probably the reason why i don’t use it often) but i always moisturize before applying make up 🙂

Angela Avatar

My favorite face primer is smashbox photo finish primer. And my favorite Eyeshadow primer is Urban Decay Primer Potion of course. 🙂

Araceli Avatar

I love using MAC Prep and Prime before I apply my foundation it makes my make look so much nicer when I use that and it also seemsto last longer. So I think I am going to buy the prep and prime serum from this collection.

Annika Avatar

I don’t really prime, I just use foundation 🙂 or a moisturing cream.
I also don’t use any lip or eye base. ( I probably should try it 😉 )

Jessica W. Avatar

I currently don’t use a primer, but went to sephora the other day and think primer would be a great addition to my everyday routine. I currently use a mix of smashbox eyeshadows and use a bobbie brown black gel eyeliner. I also have smashbox eyelid primer. I commute to work everyday an hour there and back and this MAC makeup would be great for me to have so when i get home from work I am already to go out and don’t need to touch up on my makeup. Would LOVE to try this primer. Thanks for holding this 🙂

Irish Avatar

I would love to win. I prep my face with MUFE All Mat primer and my eyes with Kryolan eyeshadow base.

i prep for colour by moisturizing my face and then applying foundation. nw25. always followed by some creative eye and lip combo. current fave: MAC Knight Divine eyes, MAC Blooming Lovely lipstick. fierce!!!

Vivian Avatar

I prep for colour by using the cheapest primer i can find! 😛 That includes going to the intimate aisle next to the condoms to purchase the monistat anti-chafing gel 😛 PLEASE ENTER ME=)

Jenn Avatar

I don’t know if this is considered priming, but I like to use Estee Lauder’s Idealist (pore minimizing skin refinisher) before a moisturizer.

Thanks for the giveaway! I’m also following on Twitter 🙂

Mary Ann Avatar

I prime with moisturizer using Lush’s Dream Cream (yes, I use it on my face) before applying my foundation. And I usually prime my eye with a paint pot; Painterly on an everyday basis.

Sophie Avatar

i rarely use a face primer, i dont see any difference after using it, but still i own a mufe hd primer in blue.
i use mac paint pot in bare study/ soft ochre as an eye primer.

Chrissy Avatar

To prime I use MAC prep and prime face primer and I love it. It has a bit of sparkle to help with a natural glow. Also I listen to my favorite tunes while getting ready in the morning.

louise Avatar

please enter me

i rarely use a primer but when i have to i use elf-nothing much and then a hd powdered primer after ‘ellana’. depends where i’m going and how long i’ll be out 😛

Stephanie Avatar

On my face, I use the Korres primer or the MUFE HD primer in Pink :] My favorite is the Korres primer, very light and refreshing. Doesn’t clog my pores! On my eyes, I use UD pp or LM satinee creme colours. Although I like both, I use the LM more often now :]

catnip Avatar

My favorite primer ever is the artdeco eyeshadow base. I have tried quite a few eyeshadow primers, but this one just works best for me. I do not know if it is also popular outside from germany? 🙂

beeks Avatar

Ooh, I’d like to enter! Lately all I do in the way of priming is a quick layer of oil-controlling moisturizer or just a quick blast of Vitamin E face mist from The Body Shop. I used to have a full-on spackle routine, wanting to hide my deeply imperfect skin from the world, but lately I’m finding less is more.

Taisha Avatar

I absolutely need primer! my face is soooo dry. I usually use bareminerals prep and prime to lay a smooth foundation for my face and some oon my eyelids so that my eyeshadow can pack a punch!

Erin Avatar

I always use UDPP for my eyes but with foundation I feel like I don’t need primer! My skin is dry so the foundation stays on pretty long and doesn’t move around. But, I hear that MAC’s Prep + Prime Skin Refine Zone treatment is wonderful for pores! I have large pores in certain areas so I think I may have to try some here soon! 🙂

cristina Avatar

i don’t use a primer..i only use a moisturizer on my face…but i use Too faced shadow insurance on my eyelid!
twitter:fondoamaro

Chloe Avatar

For me, priming my face is not required. My skin is quite dry and providing I moisturize before hand, I don’t have a problem with the longetivity and application of my foundation. For my eyes however, I use either Too Faced Shadow Insurance or a Paint Pot. And to prime my lips, I use Too Faced’s Borderline.

Roni Avatar

the way i prep is with moisturizer, Clinique Dramatically Diferent Moisturizing Lotion (my skin gets suuuper dry) and a primer, the Rimmel Fix & Perfect. 🙂

Germ Avatar

I prime my lids using the Revlon Beyond Natural Primer. Doesn’t do much for me on the face so I decided to use it on my lids once lol. Worked pretty well. My lids do not get oily anymore and the color stays on well. 🙂

laurymj83 Avatar

I’m still looking for the perfect primer for me! The very last I tried is the Sephora brand one, wich is supposed to be similar to Smashbox’s, but I broke up, as it always happens to me… so, as I haven’t tried the Mac primer, I thought of giving luck a chance 😉
Thanks for the giveaway and your lovely reviews and website!
<3

Amy Avatar

I use the Mac prep and prime Spf 50, that way my sunscreen is done and my face priming is done in one step. I also like to moisturize before color.

Rosa Napoleon Avatar

I love Mac face prep & prime…I live for this stuff. Many people like smashbox face primer, but they make my face feel oily and it leaves a shine. I don’t have that problem with Mac face primer.

Judy Avatar

great contest!

i love using primers – I think it just starts your face off with a perfect canvas. I use Urban Decay Primer Potion for eyes and sometimes NARS primer.

Samantha Avatar

I prime on a freshly cleansed and moisturized face with NARS primer and MAC prep and prime refining serum. Then I prime my eyes with UDDP.

Elise Avatar

A healthy good skin is always a must ‘coz your make-up won’t look good no matter how much you pile on if you don’t have a well-cared-for skin.. After putting on a moisturizer and some tiny amount of sunblock, I use Prep+Prime Face Illuminator Color Corrector as my primer (its the violet one that counteracts uneven skintone, bought it at my local mac counter and not available online).. After that I put on a sheer amount of foundation, set it with my mac studio fix powder, dab on some dots on top of my cheeks brow and bridge of my nose, brush on some of my favorite well-dressed powder blush on my cheeks, some black eyeliner, a coat of mascara, and swipe on Mac Hello Kitty TLC in Popster on my lips.. After that, I’m all prettified and sun-protected.. ^_^

Giselle Avatar

mmm i do not prime my face often i usually preffer just using mac’s paintpots or urban decay primer potion, but i like to keep the rest of my face with just compact powder :3

Sheena Avatar

I prep for color if I’m going out…I’ve been trying out a few different primers, haven’t found my HG yet, but so far I’ve used Smashbox Photo Finish (regular and light version), Laura Mercier’s primer, and the MAC Prep + Prime 🙂

Lucy Avatar

Please enter me in the giveaway. I always use a primer. I’m using a primer by Smashbox. I would love to experience MAC’s primer. I use Laura Geller’s Balance & Brighten for foundation. I have many blushes but my favorite is MAC’s Hello Kitty in pink. Eye shadows I have tons of. It depends on my mood which shade or brand I’ll choose. I usually grab a MAC lipstick when I’m going somewhere special. Thank you

How I prep: concealer, foundation and powder! I’m not so much a fan of primers. Some eye primers are ok, like MAC paints, but still haven’t found a face one I like, and I’ve tried many… I tweeted too 🙂

Erika Avatar

I never used to use primer, but I recently started using MAC’s prep & prime skin refined zone. I really like how it makes my pores appear smaller when I apply foundation. 🙂 I use it only on my nose and cheeks. I also recently got into using Smashbox’s photo finish foundation primer, and I love it! It makes my skin super smooth, and makes my foundation stay on longer. Whenever I use e/s, I love using paints and paint pots.

Michelle M Avatar

I use Benefit That Gal primer, tinted moisturizer and concealer to prep. Not so much eye primer, though. I usually use cream eyeshadow or paint pots as a base instead.

Daniella Avatar

How i Prep for colour:
*Clean skin
*Moisturized
*Foundation

eyes:
*Urban Decay Primer Potion, Too Faced Shadow Insurence (TFSI) or MAC paint pot. sometimes in the winter i use concealer with powder on top, i can only do this @ winter time cuz i really have oily eyelids, but dry skin 🙁

I don’t use a primer… I only use Clinique Dramatically Different Moisturizing Gel, SPF and Foundation… For the eyes I use Painterly Paintpot EVERYDAY! Can’t live without it! 🙂

Sophie Avatar

I prep for colour with foundation (I don’t have a primer atm, thats why i dont prime my face) and i prime my lids to make my eyeshadows pop!

Anika Avatar

I don’t use primer but I really want to. I’m really a newbie in “painting my face” and therefore I have to do it now without. But for the next birthday this is on my wishlist.

Jamie Avatar

I personally do not use primer on a daily basis because I do not like the feeling it leaves on my face. Please enter me for this contest. Thank you!

Lani Avatar

I do not use a primer on my face, I just moisturize. For my eyes I use Rimmel concealer. I will be getting my first Urban Decay Primer soon and cannot wait to try it. I have not experimented much with primers.

deb sanchez Avatar

I don’t use a primer on my face but i wait a few minutes after i moisturize before putting on foundation so that it doesnt just slide off immediately. i do use udpp for eyes though

Milessa Avatar

I moisturize my oily skin, then put Mac’s Matte gel on, then prime the eye lids. Mostly I use untitled paint or a shade stick. I do my eye shadow, conceal, powder with mac’s mineralize skin finish, and then put the blush on.

Sam S. Avatar

I usually prime my eyes with urban decay primer potion and my face with laura mercier foundation primer or hydrating primer by stila.

Sonia S Avatar

I used to use the smashbox primer but it started irritating my skin, now I just use a matifying t-zone gel from lancome and apply my makeup straight on. I make sure that I exfoliate and moisturize properly to keep my face healthy and my skin glowing.

Lyndsay Avatar

I prep for color by applying a base, both to my eyes and face. For my face I find the monistat chafing relief gel works best and for my eyes I use TFSI!

Kitty Avatar

I wait a bit after moisturising and use a No 7 Primer all over, as well as either Too Faced Eyeshadow Insurance or UDPP to hold eyeshadow. Then I sweep some powder over my face, so it goes underneath the foundation but over the primer 🙂 The next primer I want to try is MAC Prep and Prime – the one with SPF in it, for the summer!

Vale Avatar

I don’t like primers because they are usually full of silicone and petrolatum, that are a big no, no for bio cosmetic. So, I usually just put moisturising cream and start with foundation!

i usually dont prime because i use tinted moisturizer. But when i do use a primer with foundation, i like Le Blanc de Chanel and Urban Decay on my lids.

Olaronke Avatar

i usually do not use any primer for my face, but if i wear eyeshadow i use urban decay primer potion and a mac paint pot …
when i’m going out, i use mac prep and prime skin for my face ..
would really love to win this!
thanks!

Natalie Avatar

I think the collection is awesome! I do prep & I prime for color. I think you can get the best finish by preping with moisturizer and priming the eyelids.

I want to obtain the most smooth, flawless & effortless look. I believe the Mac products are one of the best to use.

Kathryn Avatar

I prep for colour by using my favorite primer by LORAC. I’ve tried them all and I always go back to it since it doesn’t contain silicones or parabens.

Sarah Z Avatar

This contest is AWESOME!

I love to prep for color because it’s more vibrant and it stays longer! I love to not only use primers (my fave is MUFE) but also use cream underneath powder!! 🙂

Lydia Avatar

I am lost without primer (for face and for eyes). For my face I use Smashbox Photofinish Light and for my eyes I use the Urban Decay Primer Potions (although MAC painterly paint pot works well as well).

MK Avatar

Hi Christine!
Thanks for doing this! 🙂 I would love to enter if there is room. I prep for my eyeshadow by using UDPP, but my lids are so oily I think I need to layer a MAC PP over it. I have not found one for my face (before foundation) yet, but Im going to try the Fyrinnae Velvet Gel one 🙂

grace Avatar

hi thanks for hosting this giveaway =], i love your blog but this is my first time commenting haha
i def prep for makeup
face: korres quercetin and oak face primer
lip: chapstick or lipbalm of some sort. i love Smith’s Rosebud Salve
lids: toofaced shadow insurance
lashes: don’t really prime but i try to moisturize with vaseline at night or with talika eyelash lipocils

Cynthia D. Avatar

I prep for color by moisturizing my face with Purpose or Clinique Moisturizer. Then I use Clinique All About Eyes, next I choose a Mac paint pot to base my eyes. I usually use Soft Ochre or Painterly. I use other colors if I have time to find them like; Indianwood, Rubenesque, Perky, etc.

Neeta Avatar

I prefer to use bare escentuals prime time for face and eyes. But I also own too faced shadow insurance, UDPP, and I have a TON of random samples I use too. I think I may not need to buy a new primer for a loooong time…hehe 🙂

Lauren Avatar

i always use my dramatically different moisturizer from clinique before applying foundation and some form of a base on my eyes before applying foundation (too faced shadow insurance and bare study paint pot are favorites of mine!)

Del La Sol Avatar

I usually prime if I’m wearing a special cheek color by layering a cream blush with a powder blush, especially if I wear my NARS blush.

Luisafer Avatar

I do apply some prime, didn’t think it was so great or important, until my parents in law gave my first prime for Christmas in a Smashbox pack, love it!!! =O)

CurlyKye Avatar

I like to use MAC Prep & Prime or Smashbox Primer before I put on my makeup…it definitely helps my makeup go on smoother. If I want more of a glowy & dewy look to my skin with my regular foundation, I use a few spritzes of Fix+ before I apply my foundation.

I don’t quite have my eye primer down just yet. I would love to win this to experiment more!

Lily Avatar

I never prime- a consultant once told me that although you look good, you feel like theres a pie on your face. 🙂 That was in my teens, and i havent primed since. But i still use a napoleon perdis foundation and concealer to look smooth before adding color.

Annette Avatar

I always prime my lids with too faced shadow insurace which is my favorite eyeshadow primer. Most days I skip face primer, but for special occassions I use my smashbox primer.

Pamela Avatar

I prep my skin with a moisturizer and when i really want my skin to look good i use mac prep and prime, on my eyes any eyeshadow base, and i prep my lips with a lip balm.

Ginger Avatar

I believe the first step is always start with clean, well moisturized skin. I use Smashbox primer for my face and Too Faced Shadow Insurance for my eyes.

Christine Avatar

Hi! For my face, I prime with Lancome La Base Pro, and for my eyes, I use Urban Decay’s Primer Potion (Eden or the Original) and sometimes MAC soft ochre paint pot. =)

Mallory Avatar

I prep for colour by using MAC’s Painterly Paint Pot. It leaves a bit of a powdery finish so it’s great when using cream eyeshadows.

Sarah Lynn Avatar

I prep by doing the following:
1. Cleanse: Lush’s Angels on Bare Skin or Fresh Farmacy
2. Tone: Bobbi Brown’s Soothing Face Tonic as a toner
3. Treat: I am currently using the rest of my Proactiv Repairing Treatment
4. Moisturize: Clinique’s dramatically different moisturizing lotion
5. Prime: Makeup Forever’s HD Microperfecting primer in 6 Yellow
6. Foundation: Makeup Forever’s HD Invisible Cover Foundation in 153

Iris Avatar

Yay! When im going all out i’ll prime my face with the Smashbox photofinish primer before i moisturize my face. then ill apply my foundation. Fill in my brows, after that ill prime my eyes with the Urban Decay primer potion!

Cody Avatar

I don’t prime very much, beyond a bit of moisturizer, but I’ve been thinking about checking out some of MAC’s prep and prime products.

Evelyn Avatar

I don’t prime my face because whichever product I try clogs my pores and breaks me out. I use painterly paint pot on my lids mostly b/c it holds the color on amazingly well, the rest of the time I use the too-faced shadow insurance. (twitter name – AstarteOurania)

Leah Avatar

I always wash my face with an awesome skincare routine! The better the skin the better the application. I follow that up with MAC matte creme or dr. brants pores no more. And for eyes UDPP of course haha

I prep for colour by priming with Mac’s Prep & Prime Face (I really like this), and for eyes I use Mac’s Painterly, or Soft Ochre paint pot which works well for me.

Miki Avatar

Hi Christine, I prep for colour by using Murad’s Oil-Control Mattifier SFP 15 – best oil control product that works for me and it also clears and prevents blemishes. For my eyes, I prep by using UDPP.

I would like to enter 🙂 I don’t use a primer. but before I put on foundation I use Clinique’s moisture surge and it smooth’s out my face so the foundation goes on really nicely, for eyes I use Urban Decay Potion Primer.

Chastine Avatar

I love to prime, I feel it is necessary to provide a long lasting hold for your makeup. I use hard candy cosmetics face perefecting primer and MAC painterly paint pot to prime my eye lids

78Sarah Avatar

I start with a clean, moisturized face 🙁 the only “primer” i have used so far is UDPP. I am tring to expand my humble collection when $$$ is free..

Cristin Avatar

I prep for colour with a smooth canvas. I find that starting out with a smooth tone and a primer that last all day, makes the look I’m going for much better. For an eye primer I use the paintpots from in either: painterly, stringalong, indianwood, bare study and sooo many more =)

Rosie Avatar

I have tried MUFE primer and MAC but I dont see a difference, therefore I dont use any on my face. My eyes is a whole different story, since I have oily lids, I 1st use Two Face shadow insurance and 2nd I apply urban decay primer potion. That combo helps my eyeshadow stay in place for about 10 to 12 hours. Love it.

Megan Avatar

I prep with some light moisturizer because although i have dry skin, a heavier moisturizer tends to make me feel like a greaseball. Then before i apply anything else i use clinique’s pore minimizer and if i wear eyeshadows, udpp is a must!

Amy Avatar

I am lazy and don’t use primer for my makeup during work. But if it was for an event or function, I would prime. I use becca matifying primer and found that it does a pretty good job of keeping my face matte.

Lily Avatar

I use either Smashbox’s Photo Finish Bronzing Foundation Primer or Benefit’s Dr. Feelgood for my face, and Urban Decay’s Primer Potion in either Sin or Eden for my eyes.

Agnes Avatar

My current primer that im lovingg is monistat chafing gel. Sounds funny, but it works just as good as any primer for almost 1/3 of the price!!

*~Michelle~* Avatar

I prime my face with Yves Saint Laurent Matt Touche (only the areas where my foundation starts to melt of my face: forehead, nose, chin) and my eyes with Guerlain eye primer. Not completely satisfied with the eye primer though.

Virginia Avatar

I always wear eyeshadow primer to make the color stick better and prevent fading. I use paint pots or shadesticks, but Bobbi Browns cream eyeshadows are really great, too. For a bold lip I just prime with lip balm and blot the color, then reapply. It usually stays put on me this way.

nicole Avatar

I love MUFE HD Primer for face and HD loose powder. IDK why but UDPP is not working for me. :/ Do you have any suggestions for an eye primer? BTW thanks for the swatches and allowing us to enter so many wonderful contests.

God Bless

Nicole 🙂

elisa Avatar

I have many different primers. I’m not sure any of them do a great job. I mainly want a primer to reduce the pore size. Still looking for the perfect one.

veronica Avatar

I like to make sure my skin is clean, clean, clean 1st and formost, then I use a skin primer and eye primer, then a tinted moisturizer, then my foundation choice for the day (liquid, cream, mineral), now I am ready to color my face.

Tiffany Avatar

I have very dry skin, however i dont use a primer. Instead i moisturise my face first using The Body Shop Mango Body Butter.
For eyes i sometimes use the Lancome primer. xx

Crystal Avatar

I moisturize after cleansing my face in the shower. I don’t reapply just before foundation because it makes me to shiny. I used to use bare minerals primer and I just didn’t see any difference with the foundation and I think it may have led to a few pimples. Just one or two (I’m 35 and I rarely get acne anymore).

Joyce Avatar

Hey!

I would love to enter this contest. I prep by using Painterly Paint Pot on my lids and sometimes prep my face with the L’oreal Studio Secrets Magic Perfecting Base. 🙂

My twitter username is: jaerfe

Keener Avatar

I’ve been using smashbox as a primer recently. For a day to day look I don’t usually use an eyeshadow primer, but if I’m heading out for the evening I use Too Faced Shadow Insurance (I made the switch from Urban Decay and I’ve been pleased – both are great products).

Michelle Avatar

I do use a primer which is MAC Prep and Prime Face and/or Laura Mercier Foundation Primer.. I really like both primers.. both leave my skin feeling smooth and ready to begin my art work.

Danielle Avatar

I start with a moisturizer with SPF 30 for my fair skin. I also use a serum under that to control redness. For the eyes, I’m a slave to UDPP!! Thanks once again for hosting an awesome giveaway!

Ava Dahl Avatar

I have discovered that my skin does not do well with -cones, and so I avoid them whenever possible. When it comes to makeup primers, this can certainly be problematic!
I have found that LORAC aquaPRIME is the best primer for me.
To prep for color, in the morning, I exfoliate in the shower and moisturize with LUSH Imperial if necessary. Then I prep with aquaPRIME, and then a layer of mineral foundation.

Amelia Avatar

I moisturize my face to prepare for foundation, but haven’t got a primer yet for that. As for my eyes, I usually use TFSI or UDPP or a paint pot of some sort to help my shadow stick.

maria Avatar

ohhhh I want theseeee 🙂
I prep for colour by making sure I’m feeling beautiful and happy :)(and that my skin is clean and moisturized) I do use UD primer potion as I like vibrant colors and don’t like when they smudge…

JD Avatar

I have some samples of Smashbox’s Photo Finish primer…but I normally only use it if I’m going out since I don’t want my face looking like a watercolour painting at the end of the night!

Tia Avatar

I still haven’t found the perfect face primer yet, but I don’t even bother with eyeshadow unless I use UDPP. It’s a lifesaver for oily lids 🙂

Julia Avatar

I do not prime my face because i do not use foundation at all.
I prime my eyes with “artdeco eyeshadow base” and i am very happy with this 🙂

Carol Avatar

for strong eye colors, definitely urban decay primer potion! for my face, clarins instant smooth primer and sometimes a cream blush to make my powder blush stay on longer

nilay (zivizivi) Avatar

i mostly use primer because i have oily skin. i generally use mac’s paint pots and benefit’s primer. i ordered nars’s primer with spf and i am wainting for to come.

these are so beautiful. thanks for the giveaway

Sophie Avatar

Color is my best friend .

I prep by color by applying either a paint pot (but they usually make my eyes quite dry), or my Too Faced Shadow Insurance on my lids. I prime my face by using a moisturizer (I use Marcelle – it’s cheap and it works for me), since I don’t have a face primer. Then, I pack the colors on! 🙂

Sophie Avatar

Color is my best friend.

I just use moisturizer, and it seems to brighten my face up. I smile and pack the colors on (smiling always makes your colors brighter, somehow) 😉

Maria Avatar

Count me in on the contest!
I usually only prime my eyes with L’oreal Decrease. It works just as good as any other eye primer I’ve ever used, and it definitely isn’t so harsh on my wallet!

kara vitacca Avatar

I prep for color with either macs painterly paint pot or bare study paint pot. I dont use a foundation primer, I just clean my face and put on moisturizer 🙂

Leona Avatar

I prep my face by making sure it is clean/washed/moisturized. Then, I prep my eyes with either MAC Paintpot in Soft Ochre, or Urban Decay’s Primer Potion…

Kelly Avatar

Enter me please! 🙂

I always prep my face with a primer. I used to use the one made by bare essentials, but i’ve now switched to Smashbox’s primer because it gave me more product. Can’t say that I find it amazing though but it works.

Liv Avatar

I do prime my eyelids using the Sans Soucis Eye Shadow Base. Best Base I ever tried! For the rest I don’t prime, however I’d like to try out the lip primer by MAC soon

Sum Avatar

hi Christine…great contest! i prep for color by applying…my clinique pore perfecting primer on nose and cheeks…then a sunscreen plus moisturizer and my MUFE foundation! 🙂 thanks alot

Lindsay Avatar

I HAVE to prep my eyes with an eyeshadow base, before I apply eyeshadow. Otherwise, my eyeshadow will crease like crazy. I currently use Mac Bare Study paint pot, but I am not hugely stocked on it and I want to try the new benefit stuff!

amani Avatar

i use primer when ever i use foundation. i have many favorite…..mac prep and prime, smashbox photo finish, make up forever ……soo excited please pick me!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Bianca Avatar

I do not prime my face, but I just start off with moisturizer as a base. I do always prime my eyes with painterly paint pot from MAC.

Ahleya Avatar

i prep for colour on my face by applying a primer(philosophy foundation primer) and i also use a primer for my eyes( urban decay primer potion)

Jenny Avatar

I definately prime! Face primer, eye primer, lip primer, lash primer, that’s basically it. My favorite brands for these are usually MAC, if not they’ll vary from MUFE to Urban Decay to NARS, etc.

steph Avatar

I recently started using benefit that gal and am liking it (I used the clarins primer before but it was too greasy for me), and usually painterly for the eyes 🙂

Tiffany Avatar

I usually don’t use face primer but I definitely do prep for eyeshadow. I usually use urban decay’s primer potion or too faced insurance.

Ulrika Avatar

I prep for colour (bright colour!) by putting on colourful clothes or looking out the window (SPRINGTIME YAY!) 😀 Favourite primers are Paul & Joe’s face primer with SPF 40 (Like you always say, SPF is important!) and the classic, Urban Decay Primer Potion.

scout Avatar

I would love to enter this! I don’t have a face primer cause I ran out of mine, so I need a new one! As for eyes I use udpp! :DD :DD :DD !

Mel Avatar

I use either chanel white essential makeup base (Rosee) with spf 30 which has pink undertone or La Roche Posay Uvidea tinted sunblock. The Chanel base is better for colour, but its expensive I don’t use it often.

Priscilla Avatar

Enter me Please and thank you (:

I prep for colour with a flawless canvas. No redness or blueness. none of that business!
My fave primer would be UD Primer Potion for my eyes

Ariana Cheng Avatar

I don’t use primer on my skin. However, I do use eye cream to keep my eye area smooth, and use ELF mineral eyeshadow primer, with Fyrinnae Pixie Epoxy over it. 🙂 I love this combination.

Lilian Avatar

I’ve only just started to use primer and it’s made such a big difference. I like mac face primer with SPF50 and I also use everyone’s favourite, UDPP 🙂

Tiffanie Avatar

I usually use moisturizer then foundation.. Always prep my eyes with udpp!! Thats a must for me. I don’t have backup for anything except for udpp….Lovee

natalia Avatar

yes i prime with mac prep and prime for face, lip.and the powder love it.i use shadow insurance to prime my eyes, have used diff face primers before but the mac 1 is the best i have found.

Joannie Avatar

I always start off with a clean face obviously, after i wash i always use a toner (green tea toner) then i moisturize i use different moisturizers depending on what i buy, i love Mario Badescu collagen spf moisturizer, i dont always use primer on my face but if i do sometimes use Revlon Age Defying Spa, i also have used Urban Decay Primer Potion which is lovely, if i dont have any primer i will use a sort of thick smooth moisturizer like Mario Badescu. i also prime my eyelashes sometimes with a clear mascara.

ilmy Avatar

I prep for color cleaning my face and then use the smash box make-up primer and then foundation!! Makes my make-up go longer

Thanks, love u

telle Avatar

I prep for face color with a moisturizer and SPF and let it sink into my skin first. I have also used primer (smashbox, quo or gosh) to help foundation from settling into pores, but I don’t find it to be a necessary step. I did start to prep for eye color with Smashbox’s lid primer (was recommended to me when I was complaining to a cosmetician that my Dior shadow colors would alter, reacting with my oiler skin) and have been using it ever since!

Diane Avatar

I prep for colour on my eyes by using Lumene eye makeup base, then MAC Painterly Paint Pot on top after the Lumene dries. Then I apply my eyeshadows. As for my face, I start with a toner, then apply Paula Dorf face primer for oily/combination skin, then add MUFE HD Foundation on top. I set that with MAC Set Powder in Invisible, then I apply blush to the apples of my cheeks on top of the Set Powder.

Meheen Avatar

I prep for color with some extra moisturizer and Body Shop vit E spray (basically Fix+ dupe) because for me, extra moisture helps prevent my dry skin from seeking more moisture by becoming oily later in the day.

Pragya Avatar

Thanks for the giveaway!!!
I don’t usually use primer, only when i want my makeup to really last.
Already following you on twitter and RT’ed, user name mbi9

Anna Avatar

I always use a primer since I have an oily face. I love the Murad Oil-Control Mattifier. It really does the job of reducing the oil secretions on my face! I can’t live without it!

jerilyn Avatar

At the moment i’m using spackle by Laura Geller, so far I like it. I have used a few primers and I’m still not sure which one works best for me yet.

maria-kibtiya Avatar

i usually use a moisturise my skin before applying any make up. i wear primer only on my eyelids to help my eyeshadows last longer. i use paint pots to prime my eyes and as a base.

Aoife Avatar

I sometimes prep for colour!! Sometimes with awful consequences – creased eyeshadow is not a good look! I do find the Benefit creaseless eyeshadows good so I use them as a base sometimes. Some foundation primers I’ve tried make my makeup slide but a small bit of Estee Lauder Idealist can work for me. Really want to try the MAC ones.

Phoi Avatar

Hi Christine! Thanks for holding this giveaway!
I always prep for color by having clean, moisturized skin. I hardly wear face primer, but when I do, I use Smashbox’s Photo Finish foundation primer. Whenever I wear eyeshadow, I have to use Shadow Insurance by Too Faced. I always make sure to prep my lips by applying Vaseline prior to makeup application.

Carissa Avatar

I love my smashbox primer, but will try Murad when I run out. And for eyes I love UDPP in Sin and paint pots! They have so many colors. 🙂

Abbi Avatar

i always prep my skin with an spf before foundation and use bare study paint pot to prime my lids and intensify the colour of my eyeshadow

Lexus thomas Avatar

i love macs prep and prime for lips and the prep and prime line filler! that with my foundation is just great! I love the new colors for summer from Mac 🙂 Thanks and GOOD LUCK TO EVERYONE 🙂

StyxaT Avatar

Hi!

For my face, I use Lancome La Base Pro, it leaves a wonderful matte finish and lasts all day!
For my eyes, it depends on the look. Mostly Too Faced eyeshadow insurance (no colour), UD primer in sin (gorgeous!), or Painterly pot from MAC (matte) 🙂

dana Avatar

i just love MAC products i dont know why Prep works for me so well that i cant think of anything else. Thanks MAC and Temptalia for describing mac products and swatches and for the contest.

Farida Avatar

I prep for colour by using smashbox photo finish primer (only sometimes) and usually just using a good moisturizer. For eyes, I definitley use urban decay primer potion.
THX for this, Christine.

Luiza Avatar

I use MAC Prep + Prime SPF 50, but am looking for a better primer since this one doesn’t really work for me. I have gotten some samples from Sephora, Laura Mercier and Korres primer, but the first one made my skin hurt, and the second one doesn’t smell very good. 🙂

rachel Avatar

How do I prep for color? Right now I’m loving cetaphil sunscreen, i use it every day and follow up with smashbox sheer focus tm in luminous.

Josay Avatar

I use primer mostly for my eyes. My favorite is Painterly by MAC 😉
For my face, I use sometimes the one from Lise Watier calls Base Miracle.

Geebug Avatar

I prep with Dior Skinflash Primer, followed by a foundation, Dior Airflash foundation, or MAC’s Studio Fix! However, I always make sure I am in a good mood for my long and laborious make up routine , Usually I put on some salsa so that I feel great and sing along as I begin my make up/ getting ready routine!

Janora Avatar

I use an eyeshadow primer, UDPP. Have been on the lookout for a face primer but all the ones I’ve tried so far make my face an oil slick or break me out

Sallie Avatar

I think priming makes all the difference for both shadows and oil breakthrough on the skin. Plus it makes your makeup wear so much longer. I love smashbox, UD and MAC!

Anne D. Avatar

I use both Urban Decay and MAC paint points to prime before applying my eyeshadows. With both combine my eye makeup lasts all day or all night.

Wendy Avatar

For my face I use the Elf Studio Line Primer 😀
Its the only primer that ive tried but it works really well for the price!

As for my eyes I use the oh so popular Urban Decay Primer Potion!

🙂

Megan Anderson Avatar

I don’t wear foundation, so I make sure to use a primer if I need my blush to stay all day long. Other than that, I usually just make sure I use a moisturizer with SPF

Sara Avatar

Oooo I have been wanting Sorcery badly and the others look just as lovely!! Please enter me doll! I use a primer when I am going out for the evening or a special event. On a daily basis, I don’t tend to use one. I like to use Monistats Chafing Gel as a cheapie one! I also tried Smashboxs Photo Finish ‘sample’ and I did like that one as well. I splurged almost 2 years ago on Beauty Society Intuit “Photo Shoot” primer because Kim Kardashian said she loved it. I have only used it 4-5 times because I do not have extra money to spend and this was pricey (to me anyway as I am BROKE!). I actually think this was improves the overall glow and look of your skin, on top of being a primer. You just have to be careful not to use too much or it will sometimes in some spots “roll up” or crumble when you apply your foundation. I may now have let it dry good enough those times, not sure! Thanks for the WONDERFUL opportunity I really appreciate it and GOOD Luck to everyone! ♥

Marce Avatar

I usually prime my face by washing with Clinique Soap Bar and then hydrating with Avene Mattifying Cream. Foundation goes over that, or sometimes Clinique Cityblock Sheer. For eyes, I use TFSI or MAC Paints.

Marinka Avatar

I prime my eyes and lips, using urban decay eyeshadow primer potion for the eyes and just my rosebud salve for my lips so that my lips don’t dry out.

audrey Avatar

My secret is to layer different eye primers…..for example, I layer Painterly Paint Pot, then Urban Decay primer potion in eden, classic, or sin!

audrey Avatar

-I cleanse with my Clinique 3-step skincare system and Clarisonic Plus

-If I have any blemishes, I use my Tanda Light to eliminate them

-Moisturize with Creme de La Mer (I use the Gel de La Mer in the summertime)

-I apply Smashbox Photo Finish with my fingertips

-I apply Clinique Perfectly Real foundation in Alabaster with a Mac 187 brush

-I apply Mac Studio Finish Concealer in NC15 with my fingertips

-I apply Mac Select Sheer Loose Powder with a Mac 182 buffer all over my face and neck.

-I apply Mac Blush in Pink Swoon onto apples

That is my base to a flawless and perfect looking face!!!!!

Lauren Avatar

I prep for color by priming my skin with Laura Mercier primer. I then apply one of my favorite Laura Mercier foundations, either Oil-Free or Silk Creme.

Victoria N. Avatar

I rarely prep, sometimes if I’m going out I’ll use the Philosophy primer but other than that just moisturizer. And TFSI for the eyes of course.

Jade S Avatar

I don’t use a face primer but however, i do use either a white eyeliner pencil smoothing it up to my brow bone or i use Bobbi Brown’s long lasting creme eye shadow as a base for my eyeshadows.

Vero Avatar

I always prime my eyelid with a paintpot, Shadow Insurance or UDPP but I don’t prime my skin so often. I use Sephora zero brillance only when I have an important date.

oside_chick Avatar

How do i prep for colour? First, Yes of course i think its essential to prep for colour because your face is being exposed daily to everyday germs and other radicals that can affect your skin in a bad way :(. I start of with a clean slate by washing my face with aveeno foaming cleanser then i apply a dual moisturizer with Spf 35 to my face and neck and im all set to get started for on my colour 🙂

maddie Avatar

I don’t usually use primer because it makes me break out–I’d love to find one that doesn’t–maybe MAC’s?! I do apply moisturizer before using my sunscreen and putting on makeup.

monkey123 Avatar

I prep just using Urban decay’s primer potion on lids I haven’t had a chance to play with much else in the primer arena. Thanks for the chance to win!

monkey123 Avatar

I don’t usually use primer because it makes me break out–I’d love to find one that doesn’t–maybe MAC’s?! I do apply moisturizer before using my sunscreen and putting on makeup.

Patti Avatar

i would like to enter. I prep for color with urban decay eye primer. i love how seamless the primer leaves my lids looking. i also use mac’s pearl to give my face a flawless glow.

Kissagain Avatar

I have yet to find a face primer that actually lasts all day long on my oily skin. If only there was a UDPP would work on my entire face.

Elva Avatar

Hi everyone, I have to say that I am terrible at makeup, I don’t prime and conceal, not because I don’t like to, I just do not know how to…. yet. I am new to youtube so I am “taking classes” lol. I have heard so much about MAC and Urban Decay and I am going to start buying makeup from them. And I am looking forward to it!! If I win this contest I think it will be a great start for me.. Good Luck everyone!

LaTisha Avatar

I prep my eyes by applying concealer and mk primer ; just started using monistat chafing cream to prime face.. would like to try a paint pot one day or even mac’s prep and prime and im following on yt..

Electrarock Avatar

I have only used That gal (all over face) and UDPP (as an eyeshadow base) and they are great! But I’d love to prep for colour using a MAC prime 🙂

Michelle Pattison Avatar

I am a primer junkie right now I am using Clains instant smooth as well as a sample of MUFE HD primer. I like them both. sometimes I use the MUFE before foundation and the Clairins after foundation and before setting powder to help camouflage my big pores and acne scars

maria Avatar

So,I prep my eyes very basically I just put a little bit of moisture in my face and then just add my UDPP OR my sephora primer. I use the first that I find
