I’ve pretty much just been using my Naked Palette. I have been feeling the neutrals, lately so Naked’s such a nice, easy palette to grab.

Madison Avatar

i’ve just been wearing all that glitters by mac over a paint pot in bare study. i’ll pair it with stila’s smudge proof brown eye liner and some lights camera lashes mascara.

Essence Party All Night (hey, it’s really decent for a $2 shadow so don’t knock it), and the crease color from the Knock On Wood Wet n Wild Color Icon Trio (also amazing for being so cheap).

It being banged up and used is why I want to see it! I think a lot of us would love to see and read why you love this duo so much. 🙂

Leah Avatar

I agree. It’d be really interesting to see something you wear often. Also it would complete the set (of hourglass duo reviews that is), am I the only one who really likes completing the set? Not to mention I really want to see how dark the darker color in suede is.

K Avatar

I fourth this motion. I’ve pretty sure I’ve asked to see a review of Suede before. It’s the only Hourglass eye shadow I would consider buying and I’ve been waiting to see it featured on here. Since you don’t want to photograph the already used product, why don’t you create a look using Suede and include swatches of the two colors? I’m sure many of us would enjoy a post like this!

I really can’t remember the last time I repeated an eye makeup look, but I do fall back on the Guerlain Bois de Roses quad a lot.

I really need to pick up Suede, though. I’m absolutely in love with the two other Hourglass duos I have and that one just looks like it would be a perfect combination of neutrals for my skin tone.

Sin (lid)/Virgin (brow)/Buck (crease) from the Urban Decay Naked Palette

When I’m in a rush yet have just enough time to throw on more than just concealer around the eyes, this is my go-to look. It just enough to highlight my eyes while still being neutral enough to offset a bold lip or cheek.

Illamasqua Bedaub with a shimmering pale brightened apple green shadow patted on top, some bright but pastel pink in the middle and MAC Beautiful Iris mixed with a brighter purple on the outer corner. Repeat on lower lash line and line top and bottom outer corners with a soft lilac color, smudging it slightly. And a bit of shimmering white on the inner corners of my eyes. Basically springy sorbet colors xD

Now that it’s springtime I love using Nars South Pacific duo on the lid and and MAC shimmermoss on the lower lashline. Love my blue hues

Nicole Avatar

i’ve been using satin taupe from mac a lot in my crease & under my eye. on the lid i always use catrice – bring me frosted cake. wich is, for me, a skincolourd matt eyeshadow.

I ordered some of the Buxom cream shadow in Mutt. I looked at the size and said, “I’ll try it, but it’s too small to be cost-effective; it’s gotta go back.” Famous last words – I love it! I put a brown, like Ben Nye’s Cork, above the lid, MAC’s Indian Ink on the lid and a pop of something bright – Stars n Rockets or something else – in the corner. I line with UD’s Uzi or any other gray liner.

Lids: theBalm Luscious Lani
Crease: Bobbi Brown Woodrose
Outer V and lower lash line: MAC Mulled Cider
Highlight: NARS Abyssinia

mee Avatar

Hm, I tend to use a taupe colour over the lid and crease, a nude eyeliner on the brow bone and some copper goldish colour under the eyes (: not really a duo but I only use two eyeshadows though lol

Kristabelle Avatar

Maybelline Bad to the Bronze color tattoo with UD naked in the crease. Quick, easy, makes my eyes look huge. I’ve also been really into purple with teal and sea green lately (but I use about 8 shadows for that look).

Sunny Avatar

I don’t really have any anymore, but it’s either neutral or neutral with a pop of color, so my Naked, Naked2, Wet n’ Wild Comfort Zone are usually in the rotation.

Angelina Diaz Avatar

MAC’s Naked pigment on the lid and highlight with Urban Decay’s Naked matte shadow in the crease. Sometimes I add brown or black eyeliner. I called it my Naked, Naked look! lol

Ashley Avatar

MAC Painterly Paint Pot as a base, Urban Decay’s Foxy all over the lid, MAC Cork and Mystery in the crease, Urban Decay Blackout on the outer-v, and MAC Satin Taupe on the lower lash line. Sounds like a lot but this combo creates the most perfect smoky eye! 🙂

GUSnail Avatar

During the week I’ve been sticking to Sublime Nature Paint on lid and brow bone with Saddle in the crease and a little Black Tied on the lashline (I don’t have a matte black right now).

Crystal Avatar

I have been using bronzed eye tattoo and then The Balm stand-offish on the lid, and sophisticated on the outer V- I got the Nude Tude palette really cheap from Hautelook a couple weeks ago and it is really divine.

Amanda Avatar

MAC’s Girlie and Shale. Sweet Spring look very easy with Tarte Lights, Camera, Action Mascara and Stila Tetra Liner (which came with Stila’s In The Moment Eye Shadow Palette).

The combo I use most often for everyday casual makeup, I usually use my Too Faced Natural eye shadow palette, putting the “Silk Teddy” color on my lid (I think it is actually supposed to be the highlight color, but I wear glasses and like everything to be lighter to make my eyes brighter :D) and then put “Pushup” in the outer corner/crease. For an actual highlight, I usually use Benefit’s High Beam on my face, under my eyes in the inner corner, and on my brow bone too, so unless the pink clashes with the eyeshadows I’m wearing that’s as far as I get with a highlight. I like this combo for when I wear my glasses in particular (which is usually) because the colors are all pretty natural looking, and very bright 🙂

laura Avatar

I love Urban Decay Verve with Money in the crease. It can be a nice simple look or more dramatic with layering. Also it looks good with Mushroom on the outer corner. These are all my fave UD colors 🙂

army wife in alaska Avatar

MAC Patina on lids, MAC Wedge in the crease, MAC Shroom brow bone and MAC Ricepaper in the inner corners. It looks so awesome and natural like I didn’t put alot of makeup on.

amy Avatar

Typically, the first nude or light neutral I grab, with the first highlighter shade I reach for, after I fill in my brows. I then add a coat of black mascara & black liquid liner, and *maybe* a crease color. I keep both Naked pallettes in a bag along with a couple of NARS neutral duos & a Revlon pearly white single; this bag is basically my “ready-for-anything”bag-travel, overnights, etc, and contains all my essentials.

Laura Avatar

I’m surprised you didn’t put gypsy!

Although maybe I’m not because I have gypsy (and prism) and decided that I needed suede too, after I swatched it in Sephora. It seems like a beautiful combination.

Mariella Avatar

Hmmm – the last few days, it’s been Stila Cloud on the lid and Chanel Taupe Grise in the crease/outer corner. It’s a combo that’s hard to go wrong with and I’ll probably be reaching for it a lot when I’m in a rush or just don’t want to have to think.

Quinctia Avatar

Lots of Urban Decay Crystal! Which isn’t one of the newly available singles! D: Then usually a purple or a blue in the crease.

CeeBee Avatar

Calvin Klein Tempting Glance e/s in Venus (pale, warm, softly gold shimmered pink) as a highlighter to the brow, Chanel Fauve or TheBalm’s Just This Once Jamie over the lid and a bit of Becca Lame in the crease.

Soft, subtle but still interesting and looks fab with Chanel Stylo Yeux in Taupe!

Jane Avatar

Stuck in a boring rut of Bobbi Brown bone first then taupe.. zzzz but it’s a quick no fail. Looking forward to watching some tempalia videos to try something daring..

Maria Januária Avatar

Naked lunch (Mac) – lid
Copperplate or haux (both Mac)- crease
Toasted(UD)- outer v
Virgin (UD) – highlight
+ loads of mascara

beachgal Avatar

BE Antique Pearl (a peachy shade) & UD Naked if I want to do another shade blended in or for accent. I will then use Laura Geller Vanilla under the brow as I grab the other half of that compact which has my cheek highlighter in it (Cosmo I think it’s called)

Chrissie Avatar

I bought Hourglass Suede e/s duo and was so excited to try it because it swatched beautifully, but when I went to apply it to my eyes, it didn’t show up! I’m quite fair so I was really disappointed. I had to return it.

Do you find that you get full coverage with it, Christine?

JenJ Avatar

When I can’t be bothered, Bare Escentuals Drama all over the lid and go. Sometimes I’ll add Covergirl’s Brown Smolder in the crease if I want to do something “extra” lol!

Krista Avatar

Naked 2! I love it so much I use seven shadows on a daily basis to do my everyday neutral smokey eye: Bootycall in the first half of the lid, Chopper in the outer half, then I use Tease on my crease, then Snakebite in my outer-v, then use busted along the outer corners, Blackout to line my eyes, Verve to highlight the inner corners and the inner half of the lower lashline, then a mixture of Foxy and Half Baked on my brow bone–PHEW! It literally takes me less than five minutes to complete the look but I really, love what it looks like after. 🙂
