Right now it’s a split between Tom Ford Traceless Perfecting and Giorgio Armani Lasting Silk UV Foundation!
Most of the time it’s using equal parts of Lt.-Med. Honey and Medium Honey in Tarte Amazonian Clay Foundation in order to get a really good shade match for my skin. But even though I was convinced that this was my HG foundation before, I do have a quibble with its staying power. Sooo, it looks like I’ll be on the hunt again once this supply runs out.
When I do use something else, it’s mixing 2 BB creams by Lumene and Smashbox.
My current foundation depends a little on how much time I want to spend on my foundation. My perfect foundation is a combination of two foundations and a serum. I use the Chosungah 22 Luminous Light Foundation in 01 Porcelain. It is a cool undertone foundation that leans a little peachy. It is dispensed through a turn top that expresses a certain amount of foundation when you turn the dispenser one way and a serum when you turn the dispenser the other way. I use one turn of each and then I add a dropper of Marc Jacobs Remarkable Foundation in 01 Ivory Light. In the winter when my already pale complexion gets a little lighter, I add a small drop of a white foundation from either Manic Panic or NYX. This combination gets me the right tone and coverage that pretty much covers my hyperpigmentation, which has been almost impossible.
Right now I’m working on finishing Smashbox Studio Skin foundation, but it’s not my favorite. My top choices are tarte Rainforest of the Sea and MUFE Ultra HD.
Lancome Teint Idole Ultra 24 hours has been my long time go to however Charlotte Tilbury’s Light Wonder sneaks into my routine with some regularity.
Completely stuck between tarte rainforest of the sea and L’Oreal lumi cushion foundation. I LOVE tarte but since its water based, it limits my ability to play around with alot of my silicone based products. I like L’oreal because its a similar type of finish and buildable coverage and I can use my MUFE HD concealer on top.
I’d like to try Tarte but I don’t think I can find this brand in France.
Milani Perfect + Conceal 2-in-1 Foundation + Concealer.
MAC face and body
I am now rotating between Kiehls bb cream, Boujois City Radiance, Korff something, and Armani Crema Nuda sample. I want to use up these. Most days I use the Bourjois since it contains SPF and truly has a radiant finish.
I’m really loving the finish of the concoction between Chanel vitalumiere aqua and nars velvet skin tint. The nars one doesn’t sit on my skin very smoothly and it tends to migrate into my smile lines during the day. By mixing the two, it gives a very velvety and even finish which I’m really loving.
I love Chanel vitalumière as well.but I’m a Chanel lover!
IT Cosmetics CC Cream and Guerlain Baby Skin (I don’t know if it counts as a foundation – it’s really light and sheer but I like it). and I’ve also been enjoying Sephora’s own house brand of powder foundation – Matte Perfection. Oddly enough, just yesterday, I pulled out an old (very old) bottle of Lingerie de Peau foundation (in the old bottle and when they had very few colour choices). I really need to finish it up.
Either It Cosmetics! Your Skin but Better CC Cream SPF50 or Urban Decay’s Naked Skin. Though if I’m honest, I’ve been preferring the look of no foundation on me lately!
Bare Minerals Complexion Rescue in Opal 01, simple to put on with my fingers and go!
That’s my everyday go to as well. Since we have similar skin tones, what do you us for more of a special occasion look?
It’s Loreal True Match or Loreal Infallible Advanced Never Fail foundation. I have some to use up some before I go back and get MAC’s Waterproof Nourishing Foundation
I’m a faithful cover fx user.
Koh Gen Do Aqua – I just reach for it without thinking basically….I try and rotate my opened foundations but the KGD is so effortless, and the formula is so fantastic, it’s hard to give the others their fair due!
100% with you Emily. I’ve been neglecting all my other foundations since I discovered Koh Gen Do Aqua and I don’t see that changing any time soon. Other than the price, there is not one thing I would change about it.
Too Faced Born This Way has taken the lead over my normal favorites, Armani’s Luminous Silk and Guerlain’s Lingerie De Peau BB. Part of it is definitely the season: I can use the Too Faced Hangover Primer during winter and this foundation looks GOOD over that Primer! Part of it is the color match: Natural Beige absolutely matches my skin tone at this particular moment in time. Part of it is application: I am getting excellent results applying this foundation with the Real Techniques Expert Face Brush. My 51 year old skin looks amazing in this foundation right now: in fact, it looked so good yesterday that I decided I better tone it down a bit so that i don’t make my coworkers jealous?
Tammy–I’m also 51 and have been curious about the Too Faced Born This Way foundation. Now you make me want to try it! What kind of coverage and finish would you say it has?
Thanks!!
I would always recommend samples before purchase, because foundation is clearly one of those very personal choices. The Too Faced for me is a medium to full coverage with a satin to Demi Matte finish. I have three colors and have had it in rotation for a couple years now, and while I’ve always like it, I just recently started loving it, since the addition of the Primer and finishing with a luminous powder. I have combination skin with an oily t-zone that requires blotting a few times a day. My skin is in very good condition with no blemishes or scars. I generally like light coverage, natural look, and slightly Matte finish.
Tammy–Thank you so much for taking the time to provide me with such detailed information. It is really helpful! I totally agree with you that getting a foundation sample prior to purchasing one is the way to go–especially since everyone has a different skin type and preferences when it comes to the look and feel of a foundation. I think I will pick up a sample next time I’m in Sephora to check it out.
Thank you again and have a great weekend!
I tried it and loved it but then after a bit it seemed to make y skin look dry and wrinkled. I’m 59.
MAC Studio Waterweight foundation. I love light coverage foundations, since most foundations look cakey on me, and this one has the most flawless finish. I also am very into the Maybelline Fit Me Dewy and Smooth foundation. It still works well with my oily skin.
Illamasqua Skin Base. (My fav CC is the Darphin one and I do switch off between the two.)
I love Chantecaille future skin. It’s the only foundation I ever used up and re-purchased! I also love surratt’s foundation, although the packaging is awful.
Dr. Jart+ Premium Beauty Balm SPF 45 – Light to Medium (mixed w/The Body Shop Lightning Drops and Burberry Fresh Glow Radiant)
My daily foundation is also my sunscreen. I alternate between IT Cosmetics CC Cream and Dr. Jart+ Black Label Detox BB Cream because I really like both of them. If I use the IT Cosmetics product, I also use their Bye Bye Undereye concealer and a tiny bit of their Bye Bye Redness concealer. I can get away with using the Dr. Jart product on its own, so I especially use it when I’m in a hurry.
If I’m putting on makeup to go out at night, with no concern for sunscreen, I use Hourglass Vanish foundation or RCMA color process foundation. The Hourglass foundation is quicker to apply; the RCMA foundation is more tenacious. I like both.
Estee Lauder Double Wear Stay-in-Place foundation.
Made a discovery, which really surprises me. I have been using a Chikuhodo powder brush (have two of the same brush) to apply foundation. I wanted to free that brush up for powder, so I bought the line’s liquid foundation brush. Works great.
Thing is, how and why does the powder brush apply the foundation with a dewy finish unlike any other brush?! It’s crazy. I’ve never experienced this before. The powder brush is now back on foundation duty!
I am wondering if you are talking about the Chikuhodo GSN-2 powder brush? I have heard it is amazing for applying liquid foundation.
Yes it is exactly that one! What the heck with that?! The foundation brush is excellent, but the finish of the GSN-2 really, really makes skin luminous. It can be a teeny streaky if you smear, but I just pat it out with my fingers here and there and good to go. Nice to use stipple too then smooth. I’ve never used a foundation brush like it. 🙂
SOLD! I already had it in my Beautylish cart and your comment seals the deal.
Diorskin Star- I don’t love it, but I don’t want it to go to waste.
EStee Lauder Double Wear in Cool Bone 1C1 and KVD in Shade 42.
Smashbox Camera Ready BB SPF 30, adding a touch of Guerlain Lingerie de Peau when I need more coverage.
Bobbi Brown foundation stick in 0,75 ivory 🙂
Lancôme Renergie lifting foundation. I’ve been using it for years and, while it’s REALLY good, I’m looking to try something new….to branch out a little. I love the lifting foundations because it plumps the skin and gives a radiant glow. I’m beginning my search for reviews online today. 🙂
I love the Shiseido Radiant Lifting Foundation, so would recommend you check it out.
I used that they I ran out and they recommended the YSL at Sephora and also did an amazing job of matching me.
I use NARS Radiant Tinted Moisturizer during the workweek and Bourjois Healthy mix on weekends
I don’t wear foundation often, but when I do, my go-to is Urban Decay’s Naked Skin in 3.5!
Giorgio Armani Luminous Silk. I used to use Bourjois Healthy Mix serum but tried GA Luminous Silk and fell in love with the finish and the longevity.
Right now I’m loving Estee Lauder double wear in shade 1C1 Cool Bone and KVD Lock It in shade 42
I’ve been wearing La Mer in Ivory. My HG foundation is Clé de Peau Radiant Fluid, but when I ran out, I thought I’d give La Mer’s reformulation a try. It’s ideal for people with dry skin and I really do like it, but it hasn’t dethroned my CdP.
I switch between IT Cometics CC and Guerlain Tenue de Perfection (the latter when I need more coverage and a longer wearing foundation, and when I’m not in a hurry because application takes me more time). I’m also testing Tarte Rainforest, and so far I like it, but it’s not HG.
In summer I alternate IT Cometics and EL double wear light
My skin type/tone: dehydrated deep down, oily on top. Acne prone. Super prominent yellow/warm undertones.
What I look for in a foundation: yellow undertones, matte, good/full coverage.
L’oreal infallible pro cover (the new super full coverage one) but the shade I have is too pink (if I wear it on its own, with my hair pulled back in a bun or a pony, I have a yellow neck and a miss piggy pink face!)
So I like to mix it with a bit of MAC Studio Fix Fluid to add some warmth!
I also like to use MUFE conceal and correct cream pallet, and I take the green crean and buff that over my red cheeks around my nose, and on my chin. Then ill pat some of the orangey corrector on under my eyes/inner corners
THEN I’ll put my foundation combo on, with a buffing brush or my warm fingertips.
Then I do two dots of Kat von d lock it concealer creme under my eyes, and if it’s a really red day I’ll dot some on my cheeks to cover redness.
Then I set it all with powder/setting spray and I’m good to move on!
It sounds like a lot, but I use very little of each product!
IT Cosmetics CC+ Cream in Medium mixed in with a bit of L’Oreal Infallible Pro Glow Foundation.
The IT CC is a bit too light in Medium, but the next shade up (Tan) is way too dark so mixing the L’Oreal Infallible makes it the perfect shade for me, and both products seem to play well together.
I’m in a rare dry skin phase, so the last couple weeks it’s been bareMinerals Complexion Rescue Tinted Hydrating Gel Cream in Opal 01. Otherwise, this fall/winter it’s been e.l.f. Flawless Finish Foundation in Porcelain for decent skin days and Lancome Teint Idole 24H Long Wear Foundation in 140 Ivoire (N) for cystic acne breakouts.
Does the Elf Flawless finish in porcelain have pinkish undertones? Because if it has I will give this foundation a try. We only get a fraction of the US Elf stock here in KMart, I will check if they have it.
It’s pretty neutral, at least in my shade. I don’t know about the darker shades. In general, e.l.f.’s complexion products tend to run yellow.
Giorgio Armani Beauty Luminous Silk Foundation
On the very last bits of Armani Maestro Glow, then probably back to my Cle de Peau Radiant Liquid Foundation. I really enjoy the Maestro Glow, but the CdP beats it in the end.
MAC Face & Body, also MAC Mineralize liquid foundation.
I main go to is Laura Geller baked brighten. Next would be a combo of becca liquid mixed with Eliz Arden’s mousse foundation.
Makeup Forever Ultra Hd Stick foundation
Guerlaine Lingerie de Peau and Chanel Perfection Lumiére Velvet, all depending on how my skin feels, Chanel if it’s on the oily side and Guerlaine on cold days when I feel slightly dry.
I’ve developed a wretched case of cystic acne and have found a light layer of Urban Decay All Nighter to give me the most coverage with the least cakeface. I have very oily skin andisease this foundation fares better on my skin than others that I’ve tried.
*facepalm* I meant to say very oily skin and this, not very oily skin and disease…silly autocorrect…
This is easy – IT Cosmetics CC cream. ?
MAC Studio Waterweight in nc25 with using Bye Bye Redness to cover dark spots and redness. I, just today, got my order with the it Cosmetics CC Cream in light. I’m looking forward to trying it!
I’m just in love with Bourjois Healthy Mix, it provides enough coverage, a perfect color match and a good price, although it is hard to find in the states. My next favorite is Rouge Bunny Rouge.
I am split between Maybelline Fit Me and UD All Nighter.
Loreal Infallible Pro Matte foundation, with a bit of Revlon Nearly Naked mixed in to make it a bit more yellow. I’m so close to using the Loreal up– I’m not letting myself use anything else until it’s done!
Bourjois Healthy Mix
La Mer’s new foundation and Dior Serum foundation. Both are wonderful on older skin.
been tryin’ out a couple of foundations lately but the hourglass vanish stick and the immaculate liquid are still the things that i reach for the most
I don’t usually wear foundation only for special occasions but when I do it’s YSL. I wear Bobbi brown Bb cream in med or Bb tinted moisturizer in med.
MAC Studio Fix Powder Plus Foundation
If I am not going anywhere special, it’s Rimmel’s Match Perfection in light porcelain – the only DS foundation light enough, with pink undertones, that suits me. It’s great, but not particularly long wearing.
My other new love is the Clarins Super Restorative Foundation in Linen – sadly discontinued (why, Clarins, why?)
It goes on really well, lasts all day and you’re left with a silky smooth canvas.
My go-to powder foundation is Sephora Microsmooth Powder, and my go-to liquid foundation is MUFE Face & Body Foundation.
Mary kay timewise matte
Tom Ford Traceless Perfecting Foundation in Rosewood!
Smashbox BB Water (Fair) or Guerlain Lingerie de Peau (a mix of 00N and 2N), depending on the coverage I want.
Split between NARS Sheer Glow and Bourjois Healthy Mix Serum Foundation right now.
MAC Studio Fix in NW10.
I rotate between EL Double Wear Light in 2.0, L’Oreal Infallible Pro Matte in Natural Buff, and IT Cosmetics CC cream in Light.
My current mix is It Cosmetics Luminizing CV Cream, or the powder Your Skin But Better by It. I would love to use Nars Radiant Cream Concealer blended well as my foundation.
It Cosmetics Bye Bye foundation -I need 50 spf because I live a 4,000ft in altitude
Cle de Peau Silky Cream- for special occasions, It’s BIG FAT INDIAN WEDDING SEASON HERE!!!
I usually stick to tinted moisturizers and BB creams on most days and have been using Burberry BB and Chantecaille Just Skin.
Once or twice a week I will use a regular foundation which is usually Giorgio Armani Luminous Silk or Chanel Vitalumiere Aqua.
I like all of them but nothing has reached HG status.
I have been using that new L’Oreal Full Coverage foundation but only as a concealer. I love it! I can wear it all day without it creasing or settling into fine lines under my eyes!
Make Up For Ever Water Blend Foundation!
NARS All Day Luminous Weightless foundation in Mont Blanc. 🙂 It replaced MUFE Water Blend in Y225 for me.
I’ve tried so many foundations and the only ones I like are Maybelline’s Fit Me Dewey and Smooth and IT Cosmetics CC Cream. I’m still waiting to find my Holy Grail foundation. Next one I am going to try is the Hourglass Foundation Stick.
Currently alternate between:
-Bare Minerals Brightening Serum Foundation with SPF 20
-MUFE Face & Body
-Palladio Botanical & Vitamin Infused Powder Finish Foundation (oil-free liquid)
Fit me from Maybelline and Face and Body from Mac
MUFE water blend, but I have 3 samples to test! Rainforest of the Sea, Hourglass Skin Tint, and NARS Matte Velvet.
MAC Studio Fix Fluid and Revlon Photo Ready foundations.I like the photo ready better and so does my wallet!
My foundation is a mixture of MAC NC45, my exact skin color when applied that 2 minutes later turns orange, and Mufe Y415 (3 pumps of each foundation).
I have a weird coloring and can never find a right shade (kind of slightly olive with some cool yellow undertone). A friend gave me a Y415, which I decided to experiment mixing with NC45 and that is that.
In addition, i don’t have to find a shade for summer and another for winter. I just use 1:1 in winter and add one pump of NC45 for the summer (i don’t tan that much more because I don’t like the sun)
Armani Luminous Silk
Recently, L’Oréal Infallible dewy or Lumi and Boots No. 7.
Both are great! Cover Girl (clean) and Revlon Age Defying is an excellent one too full coverage. Body Shop was also great.
Still love my KVD locked in foundation- I have used this bottle for 15 months now and since a little goes a long way for complete beautiful coverage and I have sensitive, combination skin it’s lovely to my complexion. I REALLY would love to go in and try rainforest by the sea, it looks lovely- is it as long lasting and good to your skin?
