No primer for me except Avene Ultra Light Moisturizing Facial Sunscreen with MAC Face & Body Foundation with MAC MSF Natural all over the face and RCMA no color powder under the eyes

I use It CC+ almost exclusively because it’s a one and done. It ‘s mattifying and has a 50+ spf. I wish more products would include sun protection. I keep Bare Minerals Veil in one of their old shaker compact with mini kabuki brush on my desk at work but find myself just using the mirror to touch up lipstick. Lol, I’m still prone to oiliness at 56 but it’s getting to be less of a problem.

Estée Lauder Double Wear Stay-in-Place Makeup with either Laura Mercier Translucent Loose Powder or RCMA No Color Powder. Both of those powders work extremely well. I use the LM for evenings and RCMA for daytime.

Laura Mercier moisturizing primer or Bobbi Brown Vitamin Enriched Face Base, Cover FX Power Play Foundation, and Becca Soft Light Blurring Powder.

I’m interested on your thoughts on the Tatcha silk canvas as well Christine! I do have combo/oily (more oily in the summer) skin so it might be different. i’m wondering if it’s worth the price. Do i need this to grab this in this upcoming Sephora weekend 15% off sale?

After trying both I personally prefer Bobbi brown enriched vitamin face base over Tatcha silk canvas. B.B. feels much lighter on my face but provides the same if not better results. (For my mixed skin at least, different things work for different skin types. I’d suggest going into Sephora and checking out the samples on the store floor before buying either, that’s what I did bc 60$ is quite a bit for the average girl to spend on a primer)

My fav primer right now has been the Becca Backlight primer, mix 1:1 part of Nars tinted moisturizer with Loreal pro glow (both in the lightest shade), conceal with Colourpop no filter, set with LM translucent and give a healthy dose of Fix + all over to meld everything together!

I actually had been doing the “glass skin” technique Mariah Leonard did a video. I’ve done it everyday since. Typically I use one of my hydrating primers mixed with a liquid illuminator and then it be absorbed by my skin. Then I used a brush to really blend in my Marc Jacobs genius gel. Really lightly conceal and then powder with the smallest amount of my elf tone correcting powder in cool. I rarely do the same thing several days in a row, but I love it!

I’m a matte girl, but your post made me curious, so I watched the Mariah Leonard video and now I want to give her method a try. Not sure if it will work for me, but I do like experimenting with new techniques!

I have oily, sensitive skin. Becca Ever Matte (if more humid/hot) or Hourglass Mineral Veil, Mac Mineralize Skinfinish Natural, Innisfree No Sebum Mineral Pact on t-zone. Also I spot conceal with Nars Radiant Creamy Concealer if/where needed.

Primer: Becca Backlight or Paula’s Choice gel primer with SPF depending on need

Foundation: Tom Ford Traceless in Alabaster mostly lately but sometimes Guerlain LDP or Fenty 100 mixed with either. Though often I wear no foundation or just a Laura Mercier tinted moisturizer.

Powder: MAC Patrick Starrr powder, Besame Snow White powder, or CoverFX Golden Hour.

Hylamide Finisher Blur primer, A mixture of Smashbox 15 hour hydrating foundation and Cover Fx power Play (the mixture of the two is PERFECT for my combo skin. Alone neither work well for me), and I use Maybelline Fit Me Loose powder under my eyes and the Makeup Forever ProFinish powder for the rest of my face. I set it all with the Too Faced Hangover 3 in 1 Replenishing Spray.

Urban Decay Urban Defense Primer with SPF 30, no liquid foundation (using Wet n Wild Photofocus Concealer as needed instead), Laura Mercier Smooth Finish Foundation Powder

Becca Backlight Filter Primer, IT CC Cream or Lise Watier Multi Fini pressed powder foundation (though often I’ll wear the primer with nothing over-top or I’ll wear the CC Cream without a primer) and for powder it’s whatever I put my hand on first from Coty Airspun Loose Powder, Laura Mercier loose translucent setting powder, Hourglass Ethereal Ambient Light Powder, NARS or MAC loose colourless setting powders or a great CC pressed powder from IT that came in a trio palete….honestly, most days, if I am using a setting powder, it really is whichever one comes to hand most easily.

It’s been a while since I’ve worn makeup but it was:
Smashbox Primerizer
Maybelline Matte & Poreless (liquid)
Wet n Wild PhotoFocus powder

And ColourPop No Filter concealer for good measure 😉

As of a few days ago, Touch in Sol No Poreblem primer and IT CC+ cream in medium. Before that, Tarte Clean slate timeless smoothing primer and Kate Tokyo Secret Skin Maker Zero. I almost never use setting powder.

Primer: I am currently bouncing back and forth between The Ordinary: High-Adherence Silicone Primer and, Too Faced: Hangover Replenishing Face Primer (neither of which wow me, but they do the trick).

Foundation: TARTE Shape Tape Light Hydrating Foundation in Light Neutral

Powder: Becca Hydra-mist Set & Refresh Powder (very cool, literally).

I have a couple of foundations either Clarins Everlasting Foundation in Linen (HE) or the Rimmel Match Perfection foundation in Porcelain (DS) and I use the Nude by Nature Primer and the Rimmel Stay Matte transulcent setting powder. All great.

Christine, do you currently use the new or old formulation of Lingerie de Peau? Have you noticed any differences? I tried a sample of the old one and loved it. Not sure if it’s worth tracking down, or just buying the new one because it makes no difference.

I rarely use the same combo daily. Most used overall:

Primers- YSL Blurring, Charlotte Tilbury Flawless Finish in Fair, Smashbox Primerizer and Smashbox Priming Water

Foundation- Chosungah 22 Luminous Light Blend in 01 Porcelain, Dr. Jart BB cream and Coringco Cherry Blossom Water BB Cushion

Powder- Ilia Illuminating, Becca Hydra Mist Powder, Guerlain Meteorites and Hourglass Ambient Light in Ethereal Light

Back to Hourglass Mineral Veil Primer, but I’m using up the very last bits of my Lancôme Teint Idole Foundation before I open up a new anything. Which leads me to a quandary. An SA at Sephora said some things that make me question what in heck is going on with my coloring. ?

ELF Beauty Sheild Primer 50 SPF
It Cosmetics Bye Bye Foundation 50 SPF or Cle de Peau The Foundation
It Cosmetics Your Skin But Better CC+ Airbrush Perfecting Powder SPF 50

(I have to layer spf because I live at 5,000 ft)

Primer: FAB Coconut or Becca Backlight
Foundation: NARS Sheer Glow or NARS Tinted Moisturizer
Powder: Too Faced Primed & Poreless or Hourglass Ambient Lighting

Looove the following for my dry skin:

1. Mositurizer. Wait for about 20 min.
2. Smashbox Photofinish Primer Oil (about 4 drops)
3. NARS Pure Radiant Tinted Moisturizer SPF 30

I don’t use primer on a regular basis, but when I do, it’s typically Becca Backlight (is that the correct name? I’m not sure but you guys know the one I’m talking about). Foundation is Chanel Sublimage and setting powder is LaMer loose. When the weather warms up, I’ll switch to a lighter foundation, like Clinique Even Better Glow, pass on setting powder altogether and use bronzer instead.

Tarte Smoothing Primer
a mix of Tarte Water Foundation + Jouer Essential High Coverage Crème Foundation
Too Faced Peach Perfect Mattifying Setting Powder

Primer: I love either the IT Cosmetics primer or wet n Wild primer with Tarte timeless in t zone.

Foundation: it cc cream illuminating or Maybelline super stay full coverage.

Powder: it cosmetics illuminating powder or Coty airspun

J One Jelly Pack, IT CC Cream, Sacha Buttercup Light and colorless powders mixed together … because those are the only primer, foundation and powder I own.

Foundation: L’Oreal True Match Lumi Cushion C3 Creamy Natural. Primer: none. Powder: CoverGirl Clean Normal Skin 120 Creamy Natural Pressed Powder.
