What's your current brow routine?

I’ve been alternating between MAC Espresso/Brun eyeshadows applied with an angled brush and MAC’s Deep Dark Brunette brow cream applied with a very thin angled brush. I tweeze to keep them in shape, and then trim with scissors occasionally when they get too scraggly!

I’ll usually run a spooly through them in the morning. The odd time I’ll use the Marc Jacobs Beauty brow gel. If I’m going out for a nicer occasion I’ll run MAC Brun through them & then the brow gel. I tweeze under the brows & I’ll use wax strips on the tops, sides and between. I would like to get them done professionally but I have a hard time trusting people with my brows!

Literally, all I do is shape them by tweezing and filling them in with L’Oreal Infallible Continuous Cocoa eyeshadow with an angled eyeliner brush. My brows are relatively sparse, but the hairs themselves are pretty dark.

Ummmm…. Nonexistent. I have really full and thick brows already so I just get them threaded to clean them up. Occasionally I use a tinted brow gel or pencil to lightly fill in, but only very lightly and only if I’m going for a strong eye look because it’s really easy to overdo it and look like a gremlin.

*Pluck strays with tweezer
*Light dusting of loose face powder
*Apply Anastasia Dip Brow with an eyebrow brush, comb as needed
*Set with taupe brown eye shadow
*Will last +16 hours on me

I have my brows waxed every three weeks because my upper lip needs to be done that often. Mostly I use the NYX brow kit on them but sometimes I just use Primal from UD Naked Basics 2 with an angled liner brush. That brownish taupe is cool enough to work with my dark brows and salt and pepper hair.

I am growing very fond of my Eyelure Brow Ink double-ended pen but I still alternate between that and brow pencils from Tom Ford, Une, Bourjois and MAC.

When I use Eyelure Brow Ink I start by brushing my brows down with a spoolie, before applying the product in light feathery strokes and buffing these lightly with the spoolie. I finish up by applying either MUFE brow gel or MAC brow wax (pencil form).

I’m mixing two KIKO brow pencils in 02 (too light) and 01 (straight black). My hair is very dark and 04 is my perfect match but it gives me a very harsh brows so I have to lighten them

livnzoe Avatar

I brush my brows, then use Anastasia Brow whiz, after that I use brow gel from Kiko and after the brow gel has dried a bit I apply some hairspray on top with my finger.

Sometimes I use the anastasia dip brow with an angled brush instead of the brow whiz, rest of the process stays the same.

After many years of over plucking and waxing, I am in the process of growing my brows out right now! While they are growing I fill them in with ABH Brow Wiz in Soft Brown then follow it up with the ABH Clear Brow Gel!! I absolutely love the combo! My brows look better then they ever have before!

Sally H. Cream Remover to keep them in shape
Tweeze and trim sparse hairs
ABH Brow Wiz in Brunette to shape exterior line and fill in
MAC Clear Brow Gel to set

P.S. I HATE the current overdone “Ronald McDonald” look
My SIL just had her brows done 3-D tatoo. They look very natural.

I get them waxed about every 6 weeks. I pluck stray hairs until the next wax. Comb through with a spoolie. I usually fill in bellpierre brow powder in marona or ginger blonde, or a similarly colored shadow and an angled brush, then comb again with a spoolie.

I’m back on the Anastasia brow powder duo train. I wish I could get a more textured, uniform with the actual hairs appearence like (some) people get with Dip Brow, but Dip Brow was a giant flop for me in practice, and the powders are hands down the best performing brow product I’ve ever tried, even if they aren’t the coolest in theory. I’m using a very tiny, soft yet firm brow brush from Anastasia (#12, designed for Dip Brow) to fill with the lighter color then draw in hairs with the darker one, and I am really happy with the restults. I feel like it gives the illusion of a little bit of dimension and texture better than my older method of just filling with one color to match my brows.

I always tweeze my own brows. Right now, one is mostly my natural shape with the tail thinned out a little bit while the other brow, which is less arched and sits a little lower, it tweezed a bit thin from the bottom to raise the arch then filled in on the top to draw on that arch it doesn’t really have. LOL.

I get them shaped every six months or so and tweeze them every week. I use Dark Edge eyeshadow from MAC’s Cult of Cherry quad to fill them in and then run a wax pencil over them to keep them in order.

I’ve been loving two brow pencils from the drugstore. I use the Maybelline Define a Brow in Blonde and the NYX Micro Brow Pencil in Taupe. I love them. I think I like the Nyx a little better, but I wore my Maybelline one today for the first time in weeks and have received two compliments on my brows…so who knows. To maintain them I just tweeze them myself. Sometimes I’ll set with a little wax but usually I just use the pencil and go.

My brows are fairly dark and wild and I’ve decided I don’t really care. (That may change if I ever move to a less casual job/city.) I usually just tweeze the really obvious strays, and on mornings when I’m feeling particularly energetic I’ll also fill in one sparse spot with Maybelline Define-A-Brow. For fancy occasions I’ll actually fill in and shape the whole thing with the Maybelline pencil, but… Eh. No one really seems to notice or care when I neglect them, myself included.

miekogirlie99 Avatar

i tweeze to maintain but i get them waxed every once in a great while when i find that I’m losing the line. i really should get it waxed more often. i use a brow powder duo from Sumita which i got from Birchbox which works great because its less stress. i find if i use pencils i tend to spend more time on them. I just ordered the NYX brow auto pencil which is supposed to ne a dupe for the ABH one. hoping that works out good

Dreamer19 Avatar

I tweeze them and use a clear gel to keep them in place. I’m not a fan of the current bold eye brow do as mine would be twice as thick and bushy if I didn’t tweeze them and I think they’re just about right now.

I get my brows waxed every 2-3 weeks. I fill them in with either MAC’s brow pencil in Spiked or my new favorite, NYX MicroBrow Pencil.

I’m lucky in that I have naturally full and nicely shaped brows so I’ll just clear out the little wispy hairs and neaten the bottom edge occasionally by threading (it’s really not hard and makes it easy to get a nice straight line – I learned from youtube tutorials). My hair is medium dark red but my eyebrows are light strawberry blonde so I usually fill them in with the discontinued MAC brow shader powder in Auburn using an old Sonia Kashuk slanted brush. A lot of MUA say you should never use reds for brows but browns look wrong with my coloring. If I’m going out, I’ll use MAC brow gel to set them and make them look more polished.

Deborah Avatar

I have always had blonde eyelashes and eyebrows so coloring in eyebrows has never been an issue with me – I would have looked silly. Now I have bangs it’s even less than an issue : )

judyo Avatar

i use mac eyebrow gel in dirty blonde and go over places where i want a better arch with a maybelline pencil in blonde. i also wing them out –i like that look better than when eyebrows go down at all. and i have been doing this forever: on the spoolie i use lip balm instead of wax, etc. (free from my dentist, and it works just as well).

Becky Avatar

The NYX Micro Brow Pencil is seriously amazing. It’s an exact dupe for the Anastasia Brow Wiz, and I honestly think it’s even better for half the price (though i might just be a teeeeeny bit biased). I just fill in my brows using that, and comb through the hairs using the tarte colored clay tinted brow gel!

Kelly Avatar

I was fortunately blessed with great brows, so I need minimal maintenance. I use the Anastasia Brow Wiz in Medium Brown, then finish it off with Benefit’s Gimme Brow. DONE! I also don’t have a problem with growing tons of eyebrow hairs, so plucking is so minimal for me. I guess I’m just one of the lucky ones!

Brittany Avatar

I actually just recently switched it up. All winter, I was using Anastasia Granite Dipbrow with tinted brow gel to match my hair that I dye black. However, I recently decided to experiment with light brows since I figured black hair can get away with it (maybe? lol it is a neutral hair color). So NOW, I’m using Nyx micro brow pencil in Taupe and finishing with the blonde brow mascara. I’m really liking both looks on me.

FUCHESS Avatar

I also use the AHS pencil, and absolutely love it. I also adore one by IT. but after reading these comments, I paused and ordered the pencil and the gel from NYX LOL!!!!…..even in the same color name as my ABH pencil. Am I old school because I keep calling them pencils?

Love you Christine!! Thanks for your blog!!!

I don’t have particularly thick or full brows but they aren’t invisible either. On a regular basis I do nothing, a light tweeze once in a while. I don’t like doing heavy brows or contour because on me it starts to look really make upy really fast. I think untouched brows look really fresh and youthful so I just leave them be.

Kari Avatar

my eyebrow hairs are so blonde, no matter what i do they always look like it’s obvious i’ve filled them in lol

but i use the anastasia dipbrow pomade in dark brown to get the shape i want, then i clean up with mac’s brow pencil in stud. if i’m being lazy/quick i use nyx’s pencil in dark brown (but it’s a little too warm on its own, so i still have to use something else with it)

Hannah Avatar

I’ve been using the Anastasia dip brow (soft brown – a little too cool), Anastasia brow wiz (auburn- a little too red. Mix of both is perfect!). Clear brow gel also, brand unknown! And for days I’m too lazy to do all that I run benefit gimme brow through the hairs…makes such a difference in two seconds! I also tweeze to keep the shape. I trim them quite often because my brows are curly, so if they get too long I look crazy!

Diana Avatar

I have very sparse brows so I usually just tweeze strays every couple weeks or so. Run a spoolie through them and then fill them in with either NYX Brow Gel or ABH Dipbrow using an angled brush. Sometimes I’ll set them with either NYX Tinted Brow Mascara or Sally Hansen Clear Brow Gel…usually I skip this step though.
