What’s the craziest thing you’ve done “in the name of beauty”? Let’s talk crazy stories!

I remember getting up early, ditching class, and standing line for the MAC Barbie Doll. I can’t believe I did that…

In Ethiopia I spent money to get on a computer just to check the Temptalia Naughty Nauticals swatches. Plus I wouldn’t be returning to Canada for another month.

The closest Sephora is 2.5hrs away.. and yeah… i go there semi-regularly. i only use cash, so i can’t shop online unless places take paypal.

Um, it’s not super crazy but this is all I’ve got! I was on field school in Paris this spring and knew the To the Beach collection would be coming out and would sell out by the time I got back to Canada, so went to a MAC store in France to buy Marine Life and anything else I thought would sell out quickly.. While there I also found they still had Joie-de-Vivre Cremeblend in stock at the store, which I had regretted not buying when it came out with Lillyland a few months before… I ended up getting what I wanted, most importantly Marine Life! I love crazy international makeup searches!

I go to my Mac counter first thing in the morning every time a collection is released since Style Black, because I missed Young Punk (the only thing I wanted) when I got there only a bit later.

Well, a girl *does* have her priorities, Christine! LOL

I remember once, in my 20’s, I was running late for a social gathering; and I was driving down the expressway applying mascara. HELLLOOOOOO?!?! Was I out of my friggin’ mind?! I must have 10,000 guardian angels from all the crazy stuff I’ve done!

I do NOT recommend doing this! My mother was t-boned by a semi tailer while applying lipstick. Broke her pelvis and had several lacerations. So close to death for a little lip color!

I stayed up late and used skype to call the MAC counter in the states. I was in France, but didn’t want to pay the conversion rate for Venomous Villains, so I just ordered it over the phone to arrive at my house in the states! Then when it got there I was paranoid that I wouldn’t get all my order, so I used skype again to video chat my little brother, who I made carefully take everything out of the packaging so I could look at it, then carefully put it back again. I know I got everything and it’s waiting for my arrival!

I waited 3 hours in line with my best friend and her boyfriend outside of Sephora Times Square to get the Urban Decay UD <3 NYC palette… The most fun I ever had…. We sent her bf to get us everything from food to starbucks while we waited… lol he was a good sport about it 🙂

When I was in high school, I would get up at 4am every morning just to have extra time on my hair and makeup. I didn’t actually have to get up until about 6:30. It was kind of dumb on my part because as soon as I got out of school, I had to go straight to work until 11pm so that extra hour and a half of sleep could’ve been nice. Still, I’m glad I did it. It was the only time I had to myself to do something I enjoyed.

ohh god … let me share my craziest thing here , it was raining HEAVILY and that particular day MAC had released “TO the beach collection” i dropped baby to school convincing his teacher that i have some urgent work … above that the rains in MUMBAI are crazyyy … i was caught by Traffic Police and i had to give him bribe and then reached store ..
that was and still is the craziest i could remember ..
but i know i spent a fortune on that collection and it never happened again .. these days i buy one 1 – 2 lmtd ed stuff …

Technicially, it’s in the future, but I set my alarm for 11:30 tonight so I don’t miss the UD Black Friday sale… Otherwise, I’m pretty tame, my boyfriend always manages to get the UD palettes online for me on the day they come out, and UD is really the only brand I’d do anything crazy for 🙂

When the Sugar Sweet collection came out, noothing really caught my eye….till I saw a YT makeup guru talk about her haul and I saw the Peppermint Patti nail laquer. OMG I was in love!!! I was away at college so I went to Nordstrom and they were sold out of Peppermint Patti. Once I got back to my apartment, I called 2 more MAC counters in the area and they were also sold out! So I called the MAC counter back at home, and they had 2 bottles left! I was so happy and put one on hold, and called my mom and she went to pick it up the next day. Man I did everything to get that little bottle of nail laquer! LOL but it was definitely worth it! 🙂

Being late for class to buy cosmetics by stopping at the department store “The Bay “which was on the way. =P
Luckily since cosmetic counters (NARS & MAC esp.) are fairly close to my school and home (which btw are far away from each other), I usually can visit them when the DAY their collections come out!

The nearest MAC Counter is 9 hours away from me. When “To The Beach” and “Venomous Villians” came out I was so excited I drove there just to check it out. (The department store also had a Smashbox, Bobbi Brown, Benefit, Chanel, and every other counter so I was able to check those out too!)

I walked 30 minutes (as in 15 minutes there and 15 minutes back) TWICE to the closest MAC store in the blazing heat in the summer for the Alice and Olivia collection nail polishes, because the first time I had only brought my debit and that didn’t work for some bizarre reason, and I had to go back and get cash… XD

i think just generally going out of my way to check out new collections/products…nothing too outrageous of course 😉

for clothing sales on the other hand i’ve played hooky from school or gotten up really early to wait in line…

Viva Glam Gaga is my Holy Grail lipstick so I own six back-ups and the nearest M.A.C is 3 hours away so the last time I was there I spent $127.65 just on one product. It may sound crazy to have six back-ups but considering I’m already on my second tube and I just purchased it in May, I’ll use all up six in a year or two.

i pre-ordered for venomous villains, got to the mall and realized i had forgotten my wallet. i had to go back home, but i knew i was going to be back near the mall that night to go to the local gym, so i told my family (who were in the car) that i had to stop to “exchange a shirt at macy’s” but i secretly went and picked up my stuff from the mac counter! a few days later, i realized that i didn’t want to miss out on hot house lipglass and went back for it. 😀
i’m weird and i don’t like telling them i’m going to buy makeup because they will all think i’m spending too much and harass me about it!

Courtney Avatar

I did the same for the Barbie. And the girl in front of me got the last one. So I called every MAC store in a 50 mile radius and ended up driving from Fullerton to Glendale. But I got her!

My search for the UD Naked Palette.

I put my contact information through Sephora.com and UrbanDecay.com (which I haven’t received an email back from them yet) to receive it, but got tired of waiting for it, even though it’s a permanent product. I called everywhere! Houston, Dallas, TX, New Orleans, LA, Mobile, AL, even New York! New York finally had one, only to disappointment and say they don’t do phone orders. 🙁

But, I was patient and snagged one (Thanks to UD’s Twitter) online at WORK! lol.

Two stories to share:
1. I rented a car and drove to the MAC counter at the Bay in Burlington which is like an hour away for RIPE PEACH – this was after calling 20 stores the day before and begging them to hold it for me until I could pick it up the next day.

2. For STEREO I cancelled at 10 am meeting at work so I could go to the store at 945 and wait to get it when the store opened (success!). Good thing too because they only had 6 available and there were other girls who had the same idea and by the time I paid and left they were SOLD OUT. And hey I rebooked the meeting for later that afternoon – so its worked out perfectly!

3. While on vacation in Miami i dragged my BF around to go to the MAC on Lincoln Dr… I just had to go in and take pictures. LOL
