We appreciate enthusiasm for new releases but ask readers to please hold questions regarding if/when a review will be posted as we can't commit to or guarantee product reviews. We don't want to set expectations and then disappoint readers as even products that are swatched don't always end up being reviewed due to time constraints and changes in priorities! Thank you for understanding!

Because hospitals and physio clinics here are all scent free, I’ve not been wearing much scent but to lift my own mood, I’ve been using See by Chloe Eau Fraiche. And it does seem to work – it’s such a light, bright scent (not sure if it’s even still being made). We’ve got a bit of snow on the ground (boo, hiss) and are supposed to be getting more Saturday night and into Sunday morning so I might just switch to Victor & Rolf Spice Bomb or Clinique Aromatics Elixir !

Are you on the Eastern end of Lake Erie? Hope not. Buffalo NY is due to get clobbered in an historically bad snowstorm. The scent free environment is a great idea. Scent allergies have shot up like peanut allergies. I don’t even dare wonder about how and why now. I know it’s old farty, but it certainly wasn’t a major issue in the 70s or before.

Fortunately, I’m on the edge of Lake Ontario (we are quite close to Buffalo and often get similar weather or the tail end of what is affecting them but this time, fingers crossed, we’re slated to get “only” 2 to 4 cms.

Cool that you found two fragrances that layer together well! Haven’t tried either of these fragrances.Pretty sure I had a bottle of a gourmand fragrance from Profumum Roma before but can’t remember which one. I’m always on the lookout for layering options in my perfume collection. So far I don’t have any really good ones yet.

I bought myself a bottle of EL Youth Dew a few months ago and was a bit disappointed that it doesn’t smell like the Youth Dew I remember my mom using – it’s much lighter and less “oriental” smelling. I started thinking that maybe she used the bath oil but I don’t really think so (in any case, the bath oil seems to be a thing of the past). The cosmetics clerk at Shoppers, where I bought it, was telling me that she always buys her mom a box of the Youth Dew body powder and she opened a box for me to smell it. I was tempted (and it’s quite affordable) but couldn’t tell if it was made with talc (I have the feeling it still is made with talc), which isn’t the best thing to be using around our “lady parts).

I’ve been trying a couple of different new perfumes, but I keep coming back to Solstice Scents’ Spirit Tree (https://www.solsticescents.com/SPIRIT-TREE-PERFUME-OIL-5-ml–Gardenia-Vanilla-Jasmine-Sandalwood-Soft-Woods-blend-Orange-Blossom-Magnolia-REFORMULATED-2020_p_1093.html).

It’s gardenia, jasmine, magnolia, and orange blossom with sandalwood, cedarwood, and vanilla. It’s just so lovely and cozy. I used to dislike white florals, mostly because they are so aggressive and headache-inducing, but with the oil formulation, this one is much more subdued and I am really fond of it. It’s a sample vial, so I’m going to need a full bottle soon!!
