Anastasia eye shadows, Anna Sui pore filling primer, Inglot gel eyeliner, Anastasia brow definer, Glam Glow supermud, Peter Thomas Roth pumpkin enzyme mask
Jefree star liquid lipsticks I fell in love with them…
Lots of Tom Ford as it was my 1st full year following TF beauty: Cream & powder duos, Sphynx cream shadow, L&Bs (Negligee is my go to), the summer and winter Soleil collections, and Honeymoon palette.
Other favorites were Chanel’s Rouge No 1 palette and collection, Estee Lauder x Victoria Beckham Modern Mercury, WG #14 blush brush and the Air Brush, Bobbi Brown’s long-wear sparkle eyeliners and brightening finishing powder, and Charlotte Tilbury’s look in a palette.
That WG #14 is a winner!
Honeymoon!
Heimish Cosmetics, Coloured Raine eye shadows and ABH lip glosses. I don’t really wear lip gloss and really purchased one on a whim and for me, they are the perfect formula. They are very easy to wear, not too sticky with just enough color payoff. I would never have purchased them had I not seen them reviewed here on Temptalia.
Brands:
Chanel – new-to-me brand that I tried this year and from which I will continue to buy. I am looking forward to buying a foundation from them and collecting more eye shadow quads and blushes.

Chanel Les Ombres quads
Tom Ford eyeshadow quads (permanent line as well as LE/’Nude Dip’ formula)

Skindinavia Bridal Setting spray
NYX Retractable Lip Liners
MAC Mineralize Charged Water Revitalizing Energy – love this as a primer or as a make up freshening spray throughout the day
MAC Look In A Box(es), Kits – I like how they have shifted to keeping the products in the original packaging and not in a palette for these, it seems like the quality of the products is more cosistent that way, and I like that they are including mascaras.
MAC Nutcracker Sweet Collection – so many beautiful and useful pieces!
Palettes (eye shadow or face) – MAC x 15 or x 9, Tom Ford
Aerin Rose Lip Balm
Avene skin care
Penhaligon’s Violette eau de parfum
Estee Lauder x Victoria Beckham Highlighter, Eye Shadow palette

Great question-I look forward to reading other’s answers and re-caps!
I got the Skindinavia bridal setting spray this year too. It’s really nice.
*KVD MetalMatte
*Diorshow Lash Primer
*NARS blushes
*MAC lipsticks
Yes on the lash primer!
Ooh, I think I know the Tatcha body cream you mean (indigo one, right?) and I *hated* it! Lovely smell and texture but it made my legs look ashy and grey – plus gunked up underneath my nails like dead skin!
My top discoveries: Surratt everything, getting more comfortable with foundation and realising that it doesn’t equal looking fake and overly made up – basically understanding that the only difference between foundation and tinted primers/BB creams/TMs, etc is the semantics! And I realised that fingers are a pretty good tool for applying foundation in a skin like way – I just finish off by buffing it is in lightly and it’s easy as pie.
Other discoveries:
– Tom Ford’s stick concealer for men is amazing for zits – I love it!! Better than Cle de Peau.
– That I don’t need more than one coat of mascara. I like the just slightly defined look – no idea why I stuck with multiple coats for so long!
I agree, I get the most natural look when I apply my foundation with my fingers. I still use a brush or sponge most days for a fuller coverage, but a small amount of foundation pressed into my skin looks perfect when I don’t want to look made up but I do want to even out my skin tone.
I use my fingers to apply foundation also. I have the brushes and Beautyblender and all that but I don’t like how they can soak up product so I rarely use them. I do a layer with my fingers and then I tap/press areas in that still need more sheering out. I am just as happy using my fingers as any other tool for foundation.
It’s the way Pat McGrath applies foundation, I figured if it’s ok by her, then fine for us.
Like fingers too when I want to be quick and it looks great but foundation seems to last longer on me if I also use a brush to bluff and blend. If I don’t want to worry about touching up, brushes are a must.
Ditto on using fingers for foundation but uhhh whatchit on something being better than Cle de Peau!!! Lol.
Just my opinion! I personally think that the Cle de Peau concealer is overpriced and overrated but to each their own.
All meant in good fun. I can see the pricing bothering you, but I go though it so slowly for what my skin needs, it lasts ages for me. You just have to find what works!
Yes to using my own fingertips for foundation application! Even though I’ve given various brands Beauty Blender type sponges a try, they REALLY eat up product and I find that going back to fingertip application is still best for me, too.
So many! Lancome Teint Idole 24H Foundation, Medusa’s Makeup subscription box, Bite Beauty Amuse Bouche Lipsticks, Urban Decay Vice Lipsticks, Kat von D Metal Matte Palette. ABH Modern Renaissance Palette, UD Moondust Palette, UD Naked Smoky, Tarte Rainforest Of the Sea Palette, Tarte Gifted Mascara, and bhCosmetics Carli Bybel Palette.
Oh! And the Tarte Color Wheel Blush Palette. I don’t know how I forgot that. UD x Gwen Stefani Collection was also a favorite.
I forgot this was the year I bought a few things from UD.
So you like Medusa’s makeup? I get so many subscription boxes and bags, and I thought about this one. I tend to prefer where it’s not all their own brand, but Medusa’s looks great. The only one that I buy that’s just one brand is So Susan LipLove because I fell in love with a So Susan product in another box.
You don’t find the Carli Byble palette too colorless? I loooove me some neutrals and browns, but I found this one lackluster. Maybe it’s worth another try…
I do like Medusa’s so far. They send a wide variety of items, so that really helps. I’ve received eye dusts, a brush, setting spray, highlighter, lipstick, lipgloss, glitter primer, and more.
I didn’t think I’d like Carli Bybel palette, but I swatched it in the store when a friend recommended it to me. I love the highlighters, and use them mostly on my eyes. I think the neutral shades work well against my fair skin. I like it as a neutral palette, but the metallic shades and highlighters are the biggest reason I love it.
Finally found a good colour match for a winter foundation (Laura Mercier Bamboo Beige) and a HG mascara (Maybelline Lash Sensational).
Also Kiko’s shadow sticks – have you tried them Christine? They seem to vary in quality from the ones I swatched, but they’re kinda dupes for the Laura Mercier Caviar sticks and have a great colour range.
The whole pixi skincare line. Not everything is targeted at my skin, but I was very pleased with everything I tried.
One of my favorite releases were the Clinique Sweet Pots! And the MAC Soft Serve Shadow in Quite Yummy.
For me, a few happy discoveries are Tatcha Luminous Dewy Skin Mist, Becca Backlighting Filter Primer (I think that’s the whole name), the ABH Mario Palette, Shiseido’s Rouge Rouge Bloodstone lipstick, Algenist’s “glow” products (I got the Drop + Glow mini duo), the eyeshadow part of the Estee Edit Gritty+Glow palettes and, like you and several others, the Chanel Empreinte du desert e/s quad.
Highlighters (because I used to do not like to highlight my face, I don’t know why), I discovered the beauty of highlighters with the bobbi brown sunset glow, foundations sticks as the bobbi brown one, illuminating primers as the becca one, I also met a huge love for the dior addict lip glow pomade that I wear everyday of my life since I bought it. And I really enjoyed two diors quint from this year collections: Blazing gold 886 and blue garden 031. I love those eyeshadows so much that now I want another palette from them… My eyes are on the 456 jardin quint ^^.
I have the Jardin quint from Dior and it is sensational. Love it and wear it a lot. You will not be disappointed.
I hope ^^ I just ordered it.
I almost picked up the Dior pomade but I get hesitant with the pH lip products. I like to know what color I’m going to end up with. I take it you like it. Do you see a big color change?
Yes Lea there is a little color change, my lips become more pink and shiny when I wear it but it’s really moisturizing and it is doing well under my lipstick. I also love the sugar mint kind of candy, smell. (Sorry I took time to answer)
No worries! I appreciate the answer very much!
#1 without question: Viseart eyeshadow palettes. Pick one? I can’t. They’re all equal in quality.
Tom Ford Blushes
Cover Fx Color correcting stick in lavender
Becca Backlight Priming Filter
Laura Mercier Matte Radiance #1 (duh, where have I been)
Sephora Collection eye pencils and MicroSmooth Baked Sculpting Contour Trio (Sultry works so well for me).
Living Prook Frizz shampoo, conditioner, and Satin Serum.
EL Pure Color Envy Lipstick
Rediscoveries after lying unused for a while (years, decades 🙂 ) :
Estee Lauder Double Wear Foundation
Givenchy lipsticks
General — Korean system of double washing — oil, then foaming cleanser
Oh yes — I should have included Viseart on my list too.
I forgot Viseart-definitely a favorite for me as well.
Do you like the results of the double wash? I technically do triple now – oil and then two rounds of the Clarisonic, but my history of cystic acne has done well under the double clarisinic cleanse. The oil pre-step is the newer edition. I finally pulled the matte radiance #1 out of my beauty closet and have been pleasantly surprised.
Hi Lea,
I do very much like the results. I don’t have (luckily) have any skin issues, so for me it’s a matter of trying to keep the texture of my aging skin as nice a canvas as I can so the makeup looks nice and as natural as possible. The oil wash I think helps with that a lot adding a nice glow.
I do most of the 10 steps. It feels so good to do this regime, as the skin on your face loves to be touched. It feels like such enjoyable self care, and my face just hums with pleasure when I’m done. It sounds like a lot, but it’s done in a few minutes. I use a lot of Kiehl’s products, but I think any brand that works for you can give the same results.
Here’s what I do, FWIW:
* Oil wash with Banila Co Clean it Zero
* Foam wash with Kiehl’s Calendula (all makeup gone by this step)
* Gently exfoliate with Kiehl’s Micro Dermabrasion — only 1-2x week
* Evian Mineral Water Spray
*
* Kiehl’s Serum — one for day, another for night
* Vitamin C Serum at night only
* Kiehl’s Rose Arctica Moisturizer and eye cream morning and night.
* Sunscreen
*The Korean system recommends masks 1-2x week, but it’s not something I’ve done on any regular basis.
I find it a nice relaxing routine at the end of the day too. My routine is CdP oil in cream for first cleanse, then CdP softening face wash 2x with Clarisonic, mask here if I feel like it, Dr Dennis Gross Alpha Beta Hydroxy peel, SK-II essence, Shiseido ultimmune serum, Sunday Riley Luna, Sunday Riley Good Genes, La Mer original and an oil before bed.
My masks rotate from Kate Somerville exfolikate, Chantecaille clay mask and Rodial super acid peel something in the green jar/tube. I have a Tata Harper on deck, but I don’t want too many open at once. I’m still hunting for an oil that doesn’t make hubs wrinkle his nose, but love the La Mer, brought Rodin Olio Lusso with me on this trip, finishing up Bobbi Brown and have Cle de Peau ready to go once I finish the BB. La Mer is okay with him and I think CdP will be a winner.
Need to try the satin serum!
Maggie —
I like it very much. Just don’t make the mistake I did the first time I used it. It goes on the ends, not all over to the roots. Put it on the roots and you get a lank mess! On the ends, you get the smoothness you’re looking for. 🙂
My best discoveries have been Burberry or BareMinerals brand/s in general. I have never tried anything from either until this year and I have to say I have been impressed with both quite a bit this year, adding many of their products to my favorites!
Laura Mercier Caviar Stick Eye Color, Cover FX Total Cream Foundation, Skin Inc Pure Deep Sea Hydrating Mask, Colourpop Highlighter, Benefit Tinted Lash Primer.
There is no way I can do this question justice, this was just such a great year of cosmetic purchases for me! Off the top of my head, here are a few: Giorgio Armani Luminous Silk foundation, Guerlain Lingerie De Peau BB cream, IT Cosmetics Bye Bye Under Eye concealer, LANCOME Absolue Powder, NARS Pro Prime Smudge Proof Eyeshadow Base, IT Cosmetics Heavenly Luxe Build a Brow brush #12, MAC Star Trek shadows in The Naked Time and Bird of Prey, NARS Dual Intensity Shadows (Cressida, Tarvos, Antares, Arcturus, Rigel), NARS Sarah Moon eyeshadow duo in Indes Galante, Viseart Bijou Royal Palette, Anastasia’s Modern Renaissance palette, NARS Contour Blush in Melina, MAC’s Flamingo Park blushes (Let’s Be Friends, This Could Be Fun, Spring Flock, Life’s. picnic), Chanel’s Sunkiss Ribbon blush, NARS Impudique blush, Tom Ford blush in Wicked, NARS Unfiltered I Blush palette, MAC Star Trek Trip the Light Fantastic Beauty Powders (all three!), Bobbi Brown Telluride highlighter, Laura Mercier Matte Radiance in 01, MA’C’s Flamingo Park lipsticks in Have Your Cake and Be Silly, MAC’s Star Trek lipstick in Live Long and Prosper, NARS Audacious lipsticks new shades (Mona, Shirley, Stephania, and Kate), and Guerlain’s Rouge Saphir.
I forgot Chanel Empriente Du Desert eyeshadow quad, the Wayne Goss anniversary brush set, my Morphe M523 (a stiffer brush that works wonderfully for contouring and working with blushes that need to be roughed up), and my Hakuhodo S133 eyeshadow brush.
Discovered: Color Correctors by Sephora, YSL and UD; Becca Luminous Blush (Camellia)
Rediscovered: Hourglass Serum Primer as a highlighter and Veil Primer as an eye primer
Forgot: Discovered cleansing balms (Rothschild and Ren Rose)
So many! Main ones: eyeshadows: Anastasia, Buxom. Laura Geller baked blush. Jack Black lip balm. Bite Beauty lipstick, NARS lip glosses. Foundation primers in general. Smashbox Camera Ready BB Water foundation. Hydrocolloid bandages for blemishes. Cerave cleansers and body lotions.
WnW Reserve Your Cabana (my everyday brow highlight now!), Sephora Ultra Shine Lipgloss and Lip Gel, Brow Mascara in general, and while I think I started wearing them last year, 2016 has seriously been the year of The Highlighters!
Probably the NARS Velvet Lip Glide, Tom Ford Lippies, Tom Ford Vert line of perfumes, and MUFE Water Blend. Sub Q eye and Hand Retin Oil been pretty good to me too! Also, a rediscovery of John Masters Zinc and Sage shampoo/conditioner combo as a nice clarifying treatment thats also gentle.
Burberry – I just tried their products for the first time this year and fell in love with the products and looks. I also bought my first Too Faced palette in Natural Eyes and its the one I take for travel. My top products this year are Charlotte Tilbury’s matte lipsticks, Nars Audacious lipsticks (I work long hours and love how long lasting they are), Nars blushes, Nars concealer (I use this almost every day) Arcona Youth Serum, Arcona wine oil, Clinique foaming cleanser, Clarina tonic oil, Bobbi Brown gel liners, Clinique High Impact Mascara, MAC Highly Illogical fantastic powder, Vapour Organic lipstick in Madam, W3LL cream sticks, and Laura Mercier cream stick in bronze (absolutely love love love this) and coral, Dior Nude pink eyeshadow, Dior serum foundation, and Chanel Tisse Rivoli….and these are all I can think of for now, but I do think 2016 has been great year for beauty discovery!
With you on Burberry! Tried for the first time this year and I’m liking everything I’ve tried and want to try more!
Burberry Blushes are outstanding, they are my go to for a matte blush, which I generally prefer over a shimmer.
How do you apply your NARS Audacious lipsticks? I can’t get mine to not feather but I love the texture
Just to name a few…
– ColourPop Super Shock eyeshadows
– ColourPop gel eyeliners
– Kat Von D liquid lipsticks
– Tarte Rainforest of the Sea foundation
– Burberry Fresh Glow
– Burberry Cat Lashes mascara
– Bobbi Brown’s long-wear liquid liner in Night Sky
– NARS Audacious lipsticks (seriously don’t know what took me so long)
– NARS nail polish (surprisingly long-wearing!)
– Sephora Contour eye pencil in Diving in Malaysia
I’ve made so many purchases this year, yet most have been, if not disappointing, at least they lose their “shiny new” appeal after the first few wears. The only true standout for me has been the Colour Pop Super Shock eye shadows. Wearing Cat Nap at work today, and cannot help but smile when I look at myself in the mirror. It’s such a pleasant surprise that my favorite products have been my least expensive purchases! This has also been the year that I fell in love with the Fresh Sugar tinted lip balms. I have 2 full size and quite a few minis, and I don’t think I’ve gone a week since April without wearing one at least once or twice. Can’t say that about any of my other million lipsticks, glosses, etc. Oh, and one last one: The MAC Pearlglide Intense eyeliner in Petrol Blue. Not every day is a blue liner day for me, but the color is just stunning, and I wear it more often than any other colored liner in my collection (not counting UD Empire, which is technically eggplant/purple but much more neutral, less stand-out).
– Too Faced Born this Way foundation
– Too Faced Primed and Poreless pressed powder
– Kat Von D liquid lipstick in Lolita
– highlighters – how to use them
– Becca Backlit priming filter (when used under a matte foundation like Makeup Forever mat velvet +
– Urban decay matte lipstick in 1993
Having finally bought first one KVD eyeshadow, loving it, then along came the Metal Matte palette and just falling HARD! Also got introduced to BH Foil eyeshadows, and am highly impressed by the quality and range of shades! For lips, Nars Velvet Glides and Colourpop Ultra Satins are both so comfy to wear and LAST on my lips a very good amount of time. Then, finally, the great quality of Viseart eyeshadow is OMG fantastic! So is ABH Modern Ren palette! It’s been a great year for cosmetics ??❤
Oh, and dang it; how could I forget my beloved Chanel Empriente du Desert Quad!!! ???
Me too!
Love my new Viseart palettes and the Chanel Empreinte du Desert Quad is just gorgeous!
I’ve had Viseart on my wish list for years. You guys are making me want to take the plunge.
Do it! Join us! They are really great, it’s hard to decide which one to choose first.
There have been a lot this year!
-suqqu cheek brush
-air brush
-viseart eyeshadows
-rouge rouge lipsticks
-matte radiance highlighter
I must be forgetting some!
Tom Ford Lipsticks, Sunday Riley EVERYTHING, Glam Glow Thirsty Mud Mask and Thirsty Cleanser, Becca undereye brightener and concealer, Becca Luminizing Primer, Too Faced Born This Way Foundation, Shu Uemura Cleansing Oil Anti/Ox+, Shu Uemura Essence Absolue Nourishing Protective Oil, Shu Uemura Tsuya Skin Bouncy Fine Cream, Tatcha Luminous Dewy Skin Mist, First Aid Beauty Facial Radiance Intensive Peel, Tom Ford Facial Bronzer, Marc Jacobs “The Bronze” Brush, Real Techniques Metals collection 301 contour brush, LaPrairie Translucent loose powder in both shades (1 & 2), Nars Contouring Blush in shade Talia, Chanel Volumizing Mascara, Inglot Gel Liner in Black, my Foreo Luna 2, who knew it really COULD help serums penetrate – pure genius. There were other things I bought and enjoy, but the above list are all items that I would panic if I ran out of them and would definitely repurchase. And although this is not a product, I would not want to be without your website Christine, I seldom buy anything until I have checked out your review of it. Your reviews are soooooo thorough, the swatches fantastic and true to colour and I really appreciate all the effort you put in to what you do, thank you so much, you help me out a LOT! Merry Christmas! 🙂
There have been a few but my memory sucks so I’ll try to think of a few! These aren’t necessarily new products but just ones that I’ve used a lot of and loved. ?
Laura Geller Spackle Hydrating Makeup Primer – great for my dehydrated but oily skin, I prefer this to a lot of pricier but similar products. Definitely recommended!
Charlotte Tilbury Magic Foundation in 1 Fair – this is just a lovely foundation. Good coverage, although I often need a concealer if I’m having a bad acne day but that doesn’t bother me because it has a great finish, very natural. It’s a good colour for me too, which is a bonus, as long as I pair it with a white powder to lighten it a touch.
Laura Mercier Secret Concealer in 1 – a very peachy and hydrating under- eye corrector. It completely neutralises my dark circle, and paired with an eye primer it’ll last for ages without creasing. This has been a favourite for years.
Urban Decay Naked Skin concealer in Fair Neutral – my favourite skintone concealer! Great coverage and a great finish. You need so little product so it should last for ages. I found the NARS Radiant Creamy Concealer to look dry on certain areas of my skin but the Urban Decay concealer doesn’t have that problem.
MAC Prep + Prime Transparent Finishing Powder – an amazing powder that is undetectable and sets your makeup perfectly. Silky soft, it just does a great job and it’s better than many more expensive powders that I’ve used.
Bobbi Brown Sheer Finish Pressed Powder in White – for when I need to set and slightly lighten my foundation. I love the perfecting finish of this powder and the convenience of it being pressed. Another long-term love.
MAC Mineralize Skin Finish in Blonde – by no means a new product but I’ve been hooked on this from the first day I got it years ago. It has a noticeable dent but is still going strong! I love shimmering blushes and the warm pink shades in this are beautiful. Glowy and gorgeous!
NARS Pro Prime Smudge Proof Eyeshadow Base – my holy grail eye primer! This stuff is bomb proof, nothing else I’ve tried comes close to the results I get with this and I’ve tried all the popular ones. Give it a go!
Maybelline Lash Sensational in Very Black – I never thought I’d see the day where L’Oréal Voluminous mascara in Carbon Black would be knocked from its number one spot but this mascara is just awesome. For me it’s ideal, despite not volumizing quite as much as the L’Oréal, because it doesn’t smudge. That’s ultra important for me because I have long, curly lashes that touch the skin. So my lashes look awesome and I don’t need to worry about panda eyes!
Urban Decay De-Slick Setting Spray – a finishing spray that actually works for me! My dehydrated skin gets oily easily and my skincare routine is helping but I anyways take the precaution of using a setting spray. I’ve tried loads and this is by far the best I’ve come across! I’ve gone through lots of the travel sized ones and finally bought the full size.
Sisley Nutritive Lip Balm – my lips are constantly dry so I need a really good lip balm. I’ve tried tonnes over many years and I have two that I love. The Sisley one, which I use all day every day, and the Rouge Bunny Rouge Kiss Elixir, which is amazing but only used before bed almost like a lip mask because it’s so thick. So most of the time I use the Sisley one and it’s so hydrating and smoothing!
And I’m going to stop there because I could go on and on forever!
May Lindstrom: The Honey Mud and Problem Solver Masques, really top notch products, I’m going to try more of her products in the new year.
Smith and Cult Lipgloss: outstanding product, really beautiful, up with Ford, Chanel, maybe better.
It Cosmetics CC Cream: this is thanks to Nancy here who spoke highly of it, I needed an SPF of 50 to help keep my hyperpigmentation at bay, spent ages getting my skin nice and even, and this lovely product has further enhanced it. A debt of gratitude to Nancy!
Bought Sisley mascara for the first time in about 18 years, super pricey, but so beautiful. Major length and curl in one coat.
Finally tried Kjaer Weis, and it exceeded my expectations. Beautiful, organic refillable line, excellent quality, divine packaging. Started with the highlighter because Lisa Eldridge was using it in a good deal of her tutorials.
I think you can tell I shop a good deal at Beautylish, it’s my favourite store. I love Nils and his staff, I’d adore it if they would have a workshop with Wayne Goss or another MUA, I would so fly out to attend ( and meet you all if you were interested in going!)
I bought a tidy sum of Tom Ford, but didn’t want to bore everyone, and figured everyone assumed that was a given?
Yay – another Smith and Cult lipgloss fan. They’re so good and feel amazing on the lips. Just a comfortable, hydrating gloss-balm hybrid. Life in Photographs and Now Kith are my favorites.
Thanks so much for commenting! I had no idea Kjaer Weis is now sold at beautylish!
skin care: Neutragena clearskin spf 60 sunblock, it’s the first sunblock i’v ever tried that doesn’t break my out. L’Occitane hand cream, Garnier skin care!! I use their peel gel every night and all of my dark spots are basically gone!! I don’t have to cake on concealer to cover my acne scarring any more!!
perfume: I’v worn the same two perfumes for …7 years. And I branched out and tried a cologne this year, it starts off as a bright sunny lemon scent, and then dries into a “masculine” scent. I adore it and will be buying a full sized bottle!
Makeup I discovered this year: Tarte foundation, Sephora brand stuff!! I’v totally finished one of their micro smooth baked luminizors, I also adore their matte powder foundation. Makeup Geek blushes (I have Romance and SoulMate!) Coastal Scents Hot pots!! This was the year of falsies for me as well!! I “mastered” them this year and wear them ALL the time now!!
I also found my HOLY GRAIL LIPSTICK this year!! LUSH Santa Baby, is my one and only lipstick. I wore it almost every day this summer. and I bought two more this year as backups because it’s only availible during christmas time!! It’s a reddish orange. And it INSTANTLY stains my lips and I can put it on at 10am and i’ll still have colour on my lips by 10pm that night!!
Which cologne? I love citrus-y colorgnes. I’ve worn cologne more in my life than I’ve worn perfume because perfume-y scents just don’t work on me. Yours sounds like one I’d really like.
Hey Alecto!!! I’m glad I’m not alone in loving citrusy colognes!! I always steal my brothers 😛
It is EITHER
ATELIER COLOGNE Orange Sanguine Cologne Absolue Pure Perfume
OR!
ATELIER COLOGNE Bergamote Soleil Cologne Absolue
I read the description of both scents to try and narrow it down to help you more. But the descriptions were not much help!!
I’m sorry!!
Ha! I bet it’s Orange Sanguine — I already have that one, and I really like it (I mixed it with Voyage d’Hermes to create a completely new scent). I’ve lately been on the hunt for grapefruit-y and lemon-y scents but haven’t had too much luck. Thanks for responding!
Quality eyebrow products in general. Previously I’ve only ever used cheap brands from the drugstore – but this year I bought the Anastasia Brow Wiz and was blown away. That was followed by the UD Brow Beater and then an obsession with Benefit’s brow products, which is where I’m still at. The Ka-Brow and the Gimme Brow are NEXT LEVEL.
Other than that, my other discovery this year was Nars Sheer Glow foundation. I know – I’m the last person on earth to discover this foundation! – but it’s just beautiful and i’ve bought it in two different shades, which is unheard of for me!!!
That’s a good question. For me it was
Physicians Formula Argon Oil – just as good as Josie Maran’s
UD Naked 2 – I know I am late to this party, but I love it
Sephora It Palette in Nudes – love the taupey grey shades
Laura Mercier Translucent Setting powder
Clarins Super Restorative Foundation in Linen
Clarins Super Restorative Skincare line – which I am just starting
Dr. Lewins Milk Cleanser, Serum and Night Time moisturiser – fantastic
Milani Colour Statement lipsticks in Cinnamon Spice and Tuscan Toast
Real Techniques Brush set
I am sure there are a few others, but these are the main products that I have tried and loved during the year.
Becca shimmer highlights poured opal, Urban Decay setting sprays, Laura Geller baked and brighten foundation and blushes, colour pop lip colors, mally eye shadow sticks. What a great year in my makeup updates!
Colourpop. I’ve placed three orders. I love their shadows, Ultra Glossy, and Ultra Satins.

Tarte eyeshadow palettes, Urban Decay lipsticks,Bare Minerals Matte powder,Nars Orgasm blush for starters. I will be branching out a bit more in 2017
Tough question, I’ve tried a lot of new things this year! Off the top of my head, I would say the whole MAC x Star Trek collection, Bite Beauty Amuse Bouche lipsticks, Clarins concealer, Algenist blurring moisturizer with spf, UD Perversion mascara, Stila Convertible colors.
Price doesn’t bother me provided that the quality of the product is in accordance. I didn’t like the Cle de Peau but that’s just me – clearly it has many fans, including you. I think this is generally a matter of individual preference; there’s no product that is incontrovertibly better than all others in the same category.
They all came late in the year:
Hourglass Mineral Veil primer (not a discovery in the sense that I recently discovered its existence — I’ve know about it for a long time, just finally tried it, and it has *changed everything*)
Anastasia in general, but more specifically, the MR palette
Estee Lauder Double Wear Stay-in-Place Makeup (with the Mineral Veil, it’s perfection)
Matte liquid lipsticks (though most of mine are indie)
I lied: the matte liquid lippies didn’t come late in the year
I wanted to add a few I had forgotten:
Besame (lipsticks and French Vanilla powder)
Bite Amuse Bouche lipsticks
Eucerin Skin Calming Daily Moisturizing Creme (for my hands, great stuff, with the matte finish I prefer)
Jack Black Industrial Strength Hand Healer (for when I want scented hands)
Only this year I felt the need for a good silk powder so I boght the Hourglass and Guerlain pearls powders.
UD Setting spray. Never used a setting spray before but that one – compared to other’s I’ve tried this year was a winner.
Oh wow…so many! Thanks to Temptalia, I discovered BH Beauty. Other favorite discoveries are Too Faced Unicorn Tears (and the other 7 shades I bought to go with it), So Susan Jello Shot Cheek and Lip Stain, BriGeo Hair Smoother, UD Vice Lipstick – in the tube and in the palettes, Balance Me undereye concealer and congested skin serum, NYX slide-on eyeliner, NYX Macaroon Lippies, Maybelline Loaded Bolds Lipsticks, Wet n Wild Color Icon Shadow Pencils (which I think got discontinued), and I finally got to try the mythical Armani Luminous Silk and Nars Orgasm.
I’m sure after I read everyone else’s answers, I’ll have more.
More…Trifle Sweet Strobe crayon. It’s a holographic looking highlighter but I like it as an eyesahdow.
And, Chi Silk Infusion has changed my life. Turned my straw into silk.
