It was some mini-sized hand cream from Trader Joe’s. Haven’t tried it, LOL!

I’ve been wanting NARS Dogon, Rajasthan, & Bengali for quite some time, but yesterday I just bit the bullet and bought all three on ebay (thanks to Kafka!), so in the sense that they weren’t necessarily in my budget, I decided to buy them anyway. The duos ar DCd, so it was now or never, and I got them for less than retail. If it means bologna sandwiches & ramen noodles for a week, so be it, LOL. At least I’ll have my pretty eyeshadows to wear while eating it!

simone lymbery Avatar

@xamyx  I have a quick question: I would like to buy my make up on ebay, in your experience is it safe to do so?  Do you recommend any sellers who are honest and worth dealing with?

xamyx Avatar

@simone lymbery I’ve only ordred a few times, and it was a couple of years ago (before now), and I had good experiences. I look at the feedback, and if they have had alot of transactions. If all of the feedback is positive, then I feel comfortable. Ebay & Paypal also have ways to protect your account, so I would just take a look at those, as well. As for reputable sellers, like I said, I’m still new at this, too. Also, if a deal looks *too* good, it pobably is. I’ve heard MAC products are the most counterfeited on ebay, so be very careful there. Ebay also has the ability to track shipments, as well, which is something I don’t remember from the last time.

I personally feel as comfotable with my buys as I would with ordering *anything* online-my biggest issue is with what happens *after* the item ships.

Kafka Avatar

@simone lymbery  @xamyx  Simone, I buy nonstop from eBay and have never once had a problem. Though many don’t accept returns, a few do. I *LOVE* buying from there because 1) a good bargain gives me as much joy as the product itself but 2) equally important, the savings let me keep up my expensive NARS addiction. There are always sellers who seem to specialise in one brand or another so, in terms of recommendations, do you have something you’re specifically looking for? If you’re interested in NARS or certain skin care lines, I can give you the name of a few sellers. I should add that the brands I’m interested in aren’t brands that are subject to fakes. I don’t buy MAC which is a brand that I hear is subject to counterfeit, so if that is what you’re interested in I’d advise you to be careful.

simone lymbery Avatar

 @Kafka  @xamyx
i am interested in NARS but also Lancome ,clinqiue & dior etc as well so if you know one else who does the others by all means let me know as i am ok with that. I am a mac and benefit fan but rather get those offline than online as i dont trust the ebay sellers and have been warned off mac by yourself and others.

Kafka Avatar

@simone lymbery  @xamyx  One seller I trust (and have bought a number of NARS stuff from) also sells a lot of Cle de Peau, Shiseido (skincare in particular), Clarins, some Clinique and other things (including a ton of perfume): http://stores.ebay.com/Toquepala-E-Store?_rdc=1   If you don’t win one of her auctions, my experience with her NARS stuff is that she relists the product the next week (every Sunday night it seems).  So, she seems to have an endless supply of a lot of things. She’s prompt, reasonable, professional and, IIRC (if I recall correctly), offers tracking numbers.
I don’t have any experience with sellers who predominantly sell Dior, Clinique or Lancome but I do use Clinique eye makeup remover, so I had previously saved the name of one person who sold Clinique products because she had a 100% feedback score after having made over 7,000 sales!!! Looking just now, her store offers everything from Nicki Minaj OPI stuff to Tarina Tartintino gloss, travel sizes of UD 24/7 eyeliners, Fresh, Oscar Blandi, Fresh, Body Shop, Benefit & Stila and more: http://stores.ebay.com/Lifes-A-Beach/BEAUTY-SUPPLIES-FRAGRANCE-/_i.html?_fsub=12&_sid=54962190&_trksid=p4634.c0.m322   Hopefully, someone else will step in with the names of any Dior sellers but, in the meantime, I hope these two links help.  Don’t hesitate to ask if you have more questions. 🙂

I bought my husband face wash from Sephora’s website and “accidentally” slipped a Shine Automatique into the basket…

Marissa Avatar

Crew Highlight Powder from MAC’s Hey, Sailor! collection. I had planned on not buying anything from the collection because I’m saving up for Heavenly Creature but I just had to have it lol.

Quinctia Avatar

I went to Ulta for an UD 24/7 liquid liner, and I was leaning towards Radium…so I ended up getting that.  However, my lack of impulse control led me to getting Just Spotted the Lizard from the OPI Spiderman collection, as well as the stupidest shade of Revlon balm stain for my lips (Precious), because it barely shows up.  I was hoping it’d nude my lips out a bit, but it doesn’t do much of anything.  Oh well!  At least I like the nail polish!

nacacijin Avatar

One of the new Urban Decay 6-pan eyeshadow palettes and 3 new Urban Decay eyeshadows. Yeah, definite impulse buy. If I’d have thought about it I never would have spent that kind of money! Haha at least I get paid this week, that takes at least a little bit of the sting out of it.

Kafka Avatar

Total impulse:  I bought the as-of-yet-unreleased Nars nail varnish, New York Dolls, from the Oct. 2012 Warhol collection on eBay. Absolutely NO clue what it’s really like except that it seems to be a dark imperial purple. Operative word being “seems.”  LOL.  I just couldn’t help myself.

Dominique33 Avatar

” Koliary ” and ” Saint-Tropez ” nail polishes and the ( very good ) moisturizer from Benefit. I had a 20 % coupon at Sephora, but yes it was impulsive ( as always ! )

I just got MAC’s lipstick in Taupe, haha I went in for Kinda Sexy, and came out with Taupe… funny how that always happens…

Bare Escentuals Urban Nature! I guess it was always in the back of my head after I saw it here, but back at the time I hadn’t found a webshop that carries BE so I kind of forgot about it. When I randomly stumbled upon it the other day I just went ahead and ordered. I hope it’s amazing (but then again I’m sure it is), because it’s not exactly a good deal for the amount of product in the tube!

hwendy Avatar

I bought 15 cream eyeshadows last month from all sort of different brands,
2 from Tom Ford, 3 from Bobbi Brown, 1 from benefit, 3 from L’oreal, 3 from mabelline, 1 from shiseido, 2 from Armani… only because i was in the mood of cream eyeshadow.. crazy

lauramarie100 Avatar

@hwendy I went through that last month. I have a pile of them now! I’m trying to work them into my rotation because I have to justify all the money I spent lol. Are the Armani ones as good as everyone says?

hwendy Avatar

 @lauramarie100
yes, they are really good, probably my favorite. they have very min. fallout. I would expect more fallout normally considering the texture is v shimmery. ex. chanel is also very shimmery and has quite a bit of fall out on me.
they also apply on smoothly adn evenly. ex I can’t manage to apply Bobbi Brown cream shadow evenly on lids..
The lasting power is great too and they set on lids very nicely compare to Tom Ford. I love teh look of TF cream shadow(sexy) too but somehow I feel they are never set on lids. the texture seems very wet.
some people compare Armani eyes to kill with L’oreal. I would say L’oreal is excellent for the price but doesn’t have the multidimensional effect.
but if you only want to try one or 2 colours from Armani, I would say try them few times under different lights before buying. they look quite different.
I have #1, 2, 6, 20, 23. and 6 and 20 are my favorite as they are very easy to use. #1, 2 are quite different under diffferent lights. I probably wouldnt buy #1 if I tested it under white light.
#23 is really pretty in real. it reminds me butterfly wing or mermaid tail. I bought it because it is so pretty but never use it. 😛

lauramarie100 Avatar

@hwendy Thanks, these sound great. I’ll have to stop by the Armani counter this weekend to check these out. And I totally agree about checking in natural lighting. I’ve been burned before by store lighting LOL.

Sephora’s Vinyl Lip Pencil in Strawberry Delish, bought sight unseen on the website.  Loved the color and the formula.  I went to Sephora to pick up a few more but didn’t love any of other colors or textures.  Guess I picked the right one!

simone lymbery Avatar

actually my last impulse by was last friday (refer to my comment in the friday Haul post)

it was my finding mr bright by benefit because i needed the highbeam in the kit as boing by itself doesn’t cover my black rings under my eyes very well!

t_zwiggy Avatar

A whole bunch of Korres blushes (5 if I remember correctly)! I got them for $9.99 each, a real bargain. I absolutely love Korres’ blush formula, so I’m really excited about this

ToxicAngel Avatar

 @wwendalynne
I got this too! Totally on impulse along with a couple of nail polishes and it’s gorgeous! You’re gonna love it x

MIRIANV Avatar

chanel inimitable intense mascara! It was totally impulse. I went in to just look at mascaras and walked out with it. Damnit. I love it though

Daniellenm30 Avatar

Mac Dollymix blush and Sephora by OPI nail polish in I Come in Peas and It’s a Naan-Issue. Normally before I go shopping I know what I want to get. But not with these items; they just sparked my interest.

mpca66 Avatar

Bobbi Brown’s Tinted Eye Brightener – love it ! But had been putting off the purchase because it’s $38! The product is amazing, the packaging – a big fat zero! I dislike those twist-up applicators with a brush. You twist forever, no product .. you twist again, gob’o product. So wasteful for that price 😛

Pamela Avatar

Many shoppers forget that Trader Joe’s is a great source to buy skincare.  If you like organic products, it’s a good place to try out.

xamyx Avatar

@Pamela *And* TJ’s is alot cheaper than other stores like Whole Foods & Sprouts, often for the same brands. I buy my Desert Essence Deep Clean Facial Wash there, as well as tea tree oil & the like. These are things that are also less expensive than at traditional drug stores, as well.

Megan Avatar

Mine was the tweezerman shine and buff nail tool from ULTA.  I really like it!   It has two ends with three sides.  One end is for filing and shaping and the other end is for buffing and shining.

StephanieT Avatar

Chanel June nail polish! It expsensive and I put it off for a while and them one day I was like ‘what the heck, I want it really bad!’ so I just went ahead and bought it! I’m so happy I did! I don’t usually impulse buy because I like to plan my shopping trips!

Becca Avatar

A lipstick by Lipstick Queen. Pure impulse. I was looking for a true red and this one was advised by a few people. Shipping costs to Europe were reasonable so here we go. Unfortunately, I’m not pretty happy with the texture.

Sass Avatar

I needed a new powder – was thinking about MAC MSF natural or the Prep & Prime Pressed Translucent…or maybe I thought I’d go with MUFE, but I ended up getting the Estee Lauder Double Wear Matte Powder and I love it…good thing is that I got it at the CCO and to me it’s still expensive.  I bought it on impulse and I’m glad I don’t regret it.  Love!

CatherineM Avatar

It was a Moisturizer/Mask from Balea (German drugstore brand) that smells exactly like the strawberry milk I loved as a child. I love it!

EnchantedDaisy Avatar

@JackeeTM  @EnchantedDaisy Haha- my husband is working up in Delaware and Maryland this week and he has stopped at every Big Lots with no luck. Poor guy. He’s so good to me 🙂

Jillian26 Avatar

Now that I’m seeing all these finds from Big Lots, I think I might have to make a weekly trip.  I was given the tip that they were selling $3 Philosophy beauty products, so I went for those.  It’s good to know that they constantly have high end products for cheap!

Mariella Avatar

Probably MAC’s Havana eyeshadow. I had no intention of getting it – I really wanted Modern Pewter but it was sold out and at that point, I just really wanted to try something from that collection of eyeshadows and the only one left that I didn’t dislike was Havana.  Now, far from “not disliking it”, I really, REALLY love it!  Good impulse purchase!

lauramarie100 Avatar

L-Oreal infallable eyeshadow in “Iced Latte”. I was picking up some leave-in conditioner and it grabbed me. It’s my third of the formula. Pretty good for $7.95 🙂

EnchantedDaisy Avatar

@Clairele Are those the cheapie 99 cent ones I see at Ulta? If they are, I love the size and price but was dubious they would be opaque or true to color. What do you think?

Pirinco Avatar

@EnchantedDaisy I have the exact same nail polish, and with this particular color one coat is opaque enough, the color is the same as in the bottle, it’s quick drying with high shine cream finish, only concern is that it’s not long lasting (without tc). But the color is beyond gorgeous 🙂

Gina Avatar

theBalm 3 for 1 deal! I’m wearing the shadows today, and I love them. I ended up keeping vol. 1 and 2, and gave the 3rd to my sister, because I already had a lot of similar shades. And just yesterday I placed a MAC order. I was only planning on getting an empty 15 pan palette and a Swiss Chocolate pan, but Springsheen blush and Supreme Style Sheen Supreme lipstick ended up in my cart also lol. I’ve wanted Springsheen FOREVER, and Supreme Stye had me intrigued–it was one of the MAC pro artist picks on the site, so I looked up swatches on Temptalia and thought it was a pretty shade. It’ll be my first Sheen Supreme, so I’m looking forward to it.

I had a return at Belk and ended up buying Estee Lauder Verite Calming Fluid. I don’t even like Estee Lauder  that well so it really was an impulse. But the saleslady got me with it will help with redness.

And on the other end of the spectrum, a $5 blush and foundation set  from Maybelline Dream Mousse from Big Lots.

army_wife_in_alaska Avatar

I had no intention of getting anything this month except the essential restocking for foundation and serum but I saw thatSephora had a sale. I ended up spending $14 for 2 nail polishes, a lipgloss palette and a lip gloss tube. Not bad for Sephora.

Boots No. 7 Quick Thinking 4-in-1 facial wipes. I was mad that Noxema changed their facial wipes and picked these up as I had never tried them and the only other wipes I had ever tried and liked were Noxema, but I wasn’t a fan of their new ones. These are my new fave! I have dry skin, but I can use these even without moisturizer if I don’t have any handy and my face still does not feel dry. They are just rough enough to remove makeup and slightly exfoliate my dry skin without making my face feel raw like some tend to do. There is no strong scent and my face really feels clean after using. I keep one in all my bathroom vanities! Oh yeah, the package is fantastic too. It’s the soft plastic with the hard plastic clippy top. Keeps them moist forever! Some Targets sell a 2-pack for $10.99 (single packs are $6.99).

blueraccoon Avatar

@EnchantedDaisy I’m glad to hear you liked them! I’m on the hunt for new facial wipes – currently I’m using Shisiedo, but I’m not thrilled with them and they’re expensive, so I was hoping to find something else. I’ve heard good reviews of the Boots wipes, in addition to your comment, so I will have to pick them up either at Target or Ulta 🙂

Bobbi Brown’s Bronze Sugar! It’s an amazing color that looks great with my blue eyes. It’s one of those shades that you swipe on your lid (finger or brush, though applying with a brush makes it look like I put foiled gold on my lid — amazing), swipe on some mascara, and you’re good to go. I was talked into it on the fly by a sale’s associate because she couldn’t stop talking about how good it would look with my eyes, and she was right! I’m glad I went for it. 🙂

Tonight at CVS I got a coupon for $4 off any $12 cosmetic purchase so I just had to get something. I picked up two Revlon Lip Butters, Sugar Plum and Fig Jam. Plus I ended up getting $4 Extra Bucks for the purchase. 🙂

theBalm’s 3 for 1 shady Lady palettes sale! I found out about their deal in the very last hour. I had heard of their palettes before and they looked nice, but they were not on my wishlist.

Hehee, but their deal was too good to resist! The eye  shadows look lovely though. I’m experimenting with them now.

NYX round lipstick in Louisiana and the new NYX Crystal Amulet palette ( Dark Shadows ). Louisiana is said to be pink with a touch of coral, we shall see. Good deals on Ebay, couldn’t resist. 🙂

Ms Debbie Avatar

Louisiana is almost a neon pink, no coral at all. 🙁
Oh well. It’s so inexpensive I will keep it as I can always alter the color with lip pencil / stain, and gloss. I am however, happy to report that the NYX Crystal Amulet palette exceeded my expectations. Many eyeshadow colors to try out, glosses, blush and even an eyeliner and shadow primer. ALL highly pigmented. Perfect for experimenting with NYX products I haven’t used – and as a carry along.

Nars Cactus Flower (because of all those talks about blushes from your previous post (I can’t remember which I believe it was the one about go to summer blushes?!?) Also, this is my first Nars purchase, too 🙂 It was a great deal and I am in love with it!!!

Kafka Avatar

@casey23  <does the happy dance & yells a little in joy>   Err… sorry. <koff> Never mind me. I’m just relishing my evil, secret plan of having Cactus Flower slowly take over the blush world. ;P  I kid, I kid, but I’m truly so happy to hear you love it. It’s absolutely one of my favorites too. Such a gorgeous colour. BTW, welcome to the world of NARS and the inevitable blush addiction. Heh heh. <grin>

casey23 Avatar

@Kafka oh yeah now I remember you were the devil ahahha 😛 Jokes aside, yes cactus flower definitely was a brilliant purchase!! I already am a blush fan, before I lost myself in makeup world the only two things I used were blush and mascara.. But I have such a strange skin color (MAC says NC30 but I believe they say it to anyone lol!) and it is hard for me to find a color to look good on me. I was already in love with Benefit’s Bella Bamba but now this is my crush.. Of course, like anyone who heard Nars from the internet, I tried orgasm, deep throat and all that stuff but the color didn’t show off 🙁 Cactus flower… so far sooooooo good.. Thank you 🙂 (Oh by the way I couldn’t help myself and bought Portofino multiple <grin>)

Kafka Avatar

@casey23  Hahaha, good for you! I bought Copacabana’s Multiple since that conversation and it’s true love, so I hope your Portofino is the same. As for MAC shading, yeah, they told me that NC 30 too, but what a broad-ranging category! Like you, Orgasm barely shows on me (minus the glitter). It takes a LOT of work. But on my sister or mother, it doesn’t show at all!! My personal conclusion: the darker or more olive/yellow your skin, the less Orgasm will show up. Cactus Flower though is something that I think will work on most shades. Unfortunately, people get freaked out when they see it in the pan because they think, “RED!!!”  But it’s not.  Anyway, I want you to know that you made my night last night when I read your post. After all my agita over the UD stuff, I really *did* do a loud chortle and “YES” fist pump when I read you got and loved Cactus Flower.  LOL.

casey23 Avatar

@Kafka I believe we do have a similar skin shade I am always looking for more advices about NARS from you now on, LOL!! Btw, the sample of Cactus Flower at Sephora was a bright pink-goldy stuff and I fell in love with that color, however when I opened my blush it was sooooooo red I was really shocked the color was so different from the sample, I thought they made a mistake in labelling it took like 5-10 minutes of their time to calm me down and explain to me that this is in fact cactus flower :))) The color is in deed scary!!

Shellac Romantique Gel Nail Polish!

I love this color because it is a beautiful soft, matte pale pink that is perfect for a professional and manicured look. I used to get my nails done with this shade all time at my favorite nail salon.  However, I recently moved to a different state, and I have visited several other nail salons that seem to own every color except this one.  Therefore, I decided to purchase my own bottle to take with me to the salon from now on.  I haven’t regretted my purchase yet! =)

I’ve been inpulse buying for the last week or so! My online shopping has gotten so crazy with all the packages after packages I’ve been receiving in the mail. All I been really buying and I know this sounds silly, is nothing but nail polishes and few clothes. I’ve been shopping from llarowe, overallbeauty, lush, forever 21, and wetseal. I dont know its something about just see that yellow packaage in the mail that makes me happy yet excited lol. But I’m entirely out of control, I just by whatever I’ve been wanting to buy for a while or if I cant get it in stores. And the polishes are mostly why my online shopping has increased sense I cant get them from regular stores.
