We appreciate enthusiasm for new releases but ask readers to please hold questions regarding if/when a review will be posted as we can't commit to or guarantee product reviews. We don't want to set expectations and then disappoint readers as even products that are swatched don't always end up being reviewed due to time constraints and changes in priorities! Thank you for understanding!

The last, but certainly not the only one to fall below my expectations, was the Charlotte Tilbury Push up lashes mascara that seems to get a lot of positive reviews but is not meant for my short and stubbornly straight lashes.
Charlotte Tilbury Airbrush Flawless Foundation. I returned it.
I’ve had terrible luck with concealers lately, specifically because they contain glitter. Charlotte Tilbury Beautiful Skin, Dior Backstage and both Givenchy Prisme Libre concealer and green corrector all contain micro-glitter that’s noticeable after blending, giving me a Twilight vampire look in the sun. The one purpose of these products is to conceal so why add an ingredient that does the exact opposite?? Who wants sparkly dark circles or breakouts essentially shouting look at me???
Probably Glossier Boy Brow. I tend not to do much of anything with my brows 99% of the time but my daughter’s brows are so gorgeous and she uses Boy Brow. I got it in Brown because Black would just be too extreme but the brown really doesn’t do much. I’m happier with ABH brow gel in Taupe. It takes more time and work but the results are better.
I have two actually. I purchased the Elta MD sunscreen based off of Angie from Hot and Flashy on YouTube. It is a tinted sunscreen and since she likes her makeup pretty matte, I thought I would give it a try. It was terrible on my skin. It managed to be oily and pilled at the same time. I let it dry down for two hours and still couldn’t get it to work for me.
The second is also something I saw on Angie’s channel although she hated it and that is the Haus Labs Foundation. She really didn’t like it but so many people were raving about it and in her comments it was a lot of peoples favorite foundation so I thought I would give it a try. Several IG and YouTube influencers said it was good for more mature skin. It applied much drier to my skin than I anticipated and since I used their color finding tool, I got the wrong shade! I should have gone with my gut. I am going to return it when I head back to Seattle and I am going to get a tester of the shade I think I will be. I want to try it now that my skincare is a little more forgiving and dewy. If anyone else has used it and has mature skin, please let me know how you made it work, if you had to work with it!
Elta is a great sunscreen. But the opposite of an excellent base product. The raves [even on a handout from a high end dual cert (rheumatology) derm.] You can tell it’s a male opinion. It goes with NOTHING and if the color is too dark for me, you have no hope. Plus, mine is wonky and the inner tube dislodged immediately. Only use it as a stand alone and prefer Aussie Gold for that. I have cheapos that are better.
Yes, I didn’t even mention the color! It looked horrible on me and even when I tried applying a very light cushion over it, it still didn’t make it light enough for me. I am the next thing to a white wall when it comes to color. I thought I would use it up around home but I can’t even do that, it is so dark. In general I prefer physical sunscreen and have a couple I really like but I have been using one that came as a gift in a Bazzaal Box I purchased and it is chemical. I am enjoying it as it has just a bit of luminosity so doesn’t leave my skin looking so flat. I like the Aussie Gold also but it is rather dark also. I can make it work though. My Ulta doesn’t carry the tintless one and I wish they did.
I tried Bella Beauty Bar’s Pastel Garden eye shadow palette a couple months ago.The color story was beautiful pastels and multi chromes eye shadows. I had so much glitter fallout all over my face! I was shocked because even with chunky glitters I don’t get much fallout. I used every glitter primer I have, sprayed my brush with MAC Fix + nothing worked so I emailed Bella Beauty Bar for advice, they didn’t respond. I finally figured out a way to make them work using Glitter glue and then press down the shadows with the with my fingers. I even got a compliment on my look but it was a struggle!
Sadly, Dior 5 Couleur in Tutu just isn’t anything to write home about unless I bring in my other Dior quint Plum Tulle or ColourPop Angelic SSS. Otherwise, it’s just “okay”.on it’s own.
Tarte’s Maracuja Juicy Lip Plump in primrose. Got it 1/2 price at Sephora on nation lipstick day. I feel I’ve been disappointed in so many products I’ve purchased in the last year and this was one I expected little from but I adore the colour and how juicy it really looks.
While I was at Sephora I tried a few of the single shadow Sephora Brand shadows on my hand. A shade called Glazed Donut looked the best. Got it home and put it on the next morning and it came up completely different (odd) it looked like a white glitter bomb. In the store is was more a satin pink. Odd to say the least. Disappointed!
I’m trying to find a replacement for the discontinued Wet n Wild Photofocus Eyeshadow Primer. They have discontinued it because it’s hard to find in stores and no longer on their website. I tried eyeshadow primers from Essence (it goes on clear and creased) and Milani. Milani was the better of the two but it’s still not great. The Urban Decay eye primer sometimes creases on me too, so the search continues.
The Ulta brand matte eyeshadow primer is very good (though I’m not sure how it compares to the WnW one) – I never have creasing when using that and you only need a tiny amount so it lasts forever. It’s better than the Milani one. Good luck!
Those Dior blushes were a doozy! They were shocking and should never have been allowed out into the marketplace.
For me, the last product that fell below my expectations was Nude by Nature’s Correct and Even primer. It corrected and evened out my skintones, but really didn’t work as a primer should.
And, as a blast from the past, the other product that really disappointed me was Bite Beauty’s lipsticks in Nori and Maple – both of them absolutely dried out my lips terribly.
I bought the Too Faced Italian Spritz palette after having not bought anything from the brand is ages; the glowing reviews and pretty colors drew me in — plus, Too Faced has always been a cruelty-free brand from the get-go and I only support cruelty-free brands. But I should have known to keep my distance from Too Faced after having had enough of the mediocre products in recent years. The palette wasn’t bad, but I had an adverse reaction to it which has never happened with Too Faced previously. I waited too long to return it so I decluttered it. What a waste.
CT, Lipstick or blush are not compatible with my skin or coloring. And, darlings, the ads drive me batty.
Ilia beauty products – foundation didn’t work well, the color haze wasn’t anything that worked well for me. The Lippies were ok.
