What was the last product that tempted you? Did you resist?
Fresh’s Unmask the Magic Gift Set. I really like Fresh products (just in general), and I love their face masks but prefer smaller jars as I am pretty inconsistent about masking so the smaller jar format is easier for me to finish in a timely manner. I was tempted when I saw it, and I bought it at the start of Sephora’s Rouge sale!
Currently, I’m being tempted by ColourPop’s new Coconut palette (which I really don’t need), and I even went to their website last night, but it’s sold out, so I’m hoping to get over this temptation before it comes back into stock.
Me too!
It’s already easy back in stock, and I immediately put it in my cart. I normally bring my total up to $30 for the free shipping, but this time I closed the window without buying anything. I’m pretty proud of myself.
Too many products to list – but I can say that I didn’t use my 20%off Ulta coupon or took advantage of any of the Nordstrom Beauty or Macy’s Beauty sales. As for Sephora, I got the Ghost ambient palette and YSL’s Honey’s nude lipstick and that was it. I did splurge on the Lisa Eldridge lipsticks so I felt it was better to mostly lay off the beauty sales and just admire from afar.
Pat McGrath Divine Rose Mothership VII due to several factors:
1.) The very unpleasant way that this palette was marketed with all the daily teasers and stringing us along.
2.) I likely have dupes for most of the shades… somewhere.
3.) Timing. I had actually given up on it being released before Black Friday, so I splurged on TF Honeymoon quad instead. Big boo-boo, because it released earlier than I expected and Honeymoon is just okay. Now I need to decide if I just use HM wet, (not a big deal really since that’s how I apply Chanel Empriente du Desert quad, right?) or return it just in case Divine Rose is restocked before Black Friday ?
Therefore, I’ve only been *temporarily* able to resist. Don’t know how I’ll do during the restock!
Hi Nancy,
I bought two of the TF Honeymoon quads when my daughter and I were in Vancouver, BC about 2 1/2 years ago. We have both been really disappointed in it and given the price I could have purchased quite a lot of other makeup but she doesn’t use hers and neither do I. I think mine is languishing in the back of a drawer some where. It is a shame as the colours are beautiful. Hope you can make it work for you.
I am so with you on the Divine Rose Mothership and got another email this morning that it was sold out and would be re-stocking soon. I am really disappointed and not because it is sold out and I can’t get it but rather, I thought Pat would be above this type of behavior. Now I have to decide how big of a deal it is to me so that I can determine whether I am going to support the brand. Her brand is so huge now and she has amazing products but given that I think they are overpriced and now this, it makes me pause.
Right now the ColourPop coconut palette is calling to me. I just got the Night Owl palette but IDK, maybe it’s too warm for my skin? IDK what it is about the brand but most of their stuff just looks off on my skin. But the coconut palette seems like it would work. I’ll wait until after the holidays though.
The last product I bought was the new Fenty Ruby Richez (sp?) shade.
I have a few masks from Fresh. I love doing the strawberry scrub and leaving it on and then adding the rose one on top. I have a few sleeping masks I hope to finish before trying that one.
Right now I’m tempted by those pulse machines for product. I did recently got my own micro-needle rollers and after getting a complimentary session at a Med spa. First time use I stupidly did before going out. I need to get some numbing cream. LOL
Christine, I’d be curious to hear how you like the Fresh Sleeping Mask – it sounds like something I would like.
My last temptation was the Chanel Lumiere et Opulence quad. I had about a day and half when I’d pretty much talked myself out of getting it as I had dupes for all the shades but then, just in a flash, my resistance simply evaporated – just like that, it was gone… And so I now have it and I’m delighted with it.
This quad would be the only Chanel one that I would be interested in. So glad to hear that it is worth the money. It does look beautiful.
I am tempted by the Fenty Ruby Richez highlighter because I would like to find a powder blush similar to ColourPop Bardot SSS blush. In my minds eye they seem similar but since I haven’t swatched the Fenty, I don’t know if there actually is a similarity. I don’t know why I think I need a powder version. I don’t wear highlighter. I think I am just having a case of the shoppies. If Sephora offers another holiday bonus, I will go and swatch it.
Midnight Sun Palette by PMGL. I successfully got through the Sephora sale and now with what his going on regarding the Rose palette I don’t think I am going to be buying anything from her brand for a while. I was getting bored with it given the similar shades in every palette, a gold or two in every palette and the ridiculous prices for everything. Now, when you are raking in money, hand over fist, you want to play these availability games. It is really beneath her and it isn’t like they don’t know that this bothers consumers as many other brands have felt the sting of this behavior. So, I am not likely to pick it up now so I am okay with that. My daughter has it, having purchased before all of this started, (I should clarify she has the Midnight Sun palette not the Rose) and she is very happy with it.
The last product I was really tempted to buy was Huda’s Mercury Retrograde palette. I spent a looong time looking at it and swatching it at Sephora during the sale! From the packaging to the color story, I just find it very appealing. But realistically, I already have a lot of these colors in my collection, and Huda’s shimmers are a little too finicky for my taste – they just require a bit more work than I’m willing to do for daily looks. So I would probably not use it that much. Eventually, I passed, but I did purchase her new small Nude palette in Light, which I didn’t need either…
I have resisted the Bobbi Brown illuminating powder in golden hour, Becca liquid Illuminator in champagne pop, and nars liquid blush in dolce vita. Oh and also the Pat McGrath divine rose, it was already in my cart and ready to go but I decided not to get it. Meh.
I hope one day when I have more wiggle room, I will stumble upon the Bobbi Brown highlighter and just pick it up.
The Becca one, I’m just waiting for the right time to get it. I like the color a lot, surprisingly it’s a shade of highlighter that I have yet to own.
The nars dolce vita has been on my wish list for a while, one day I will get it. Maybe this holiday?? Maybe they will work with the new set of lipsticks I bought from Lisa Eldridge?
Or maybe i will just get the Danessa Myricks illuminating veil rather than getting the champagne pop.
The last product I was seriously tempted by is the Pixi Beauty Reflex palette and after looking at the swatches here a million times, I decided to get it (when it was on sale here in Aus.). My son purchased it for me for my upcoming birthday….
I wanted Divine Rose so bad, I stalked the website daily, and ordered it 2 minutes after it released yesterday. It was to be my last makeup purchase of the year, I told myself — before Black Friday, what was I thinking?? I was tempted by ColourPop’s coconut and Anna palettes but have resisted. I’m trying to think critically about if things are adding value or filling a void in my collection and I’m sure I already have those shades.
Becca’s Year of the Pig is on sale at Sephora, but I’ve convinced myself I have ENOUGH highlighters!
Who am i?!
The Fresh Black Tea set is calling my name, but I am resisting, mostly because I’m still working on a full size of the mask from last year (?). Horse and Carriage from Colourpop got me though, but the liquid lip in the kit I have no use for so it’s going to someone as a gift I guess.
I also bought the clearance Sephora Lip Kit for Very Victoria and Flamingo Acid. That’s like $9 off retail price of VV and I’m almost done with my original bullet.
Lisa Eldridge’s The Irresistible Pinks and The Soft Velvet Collection lipsticks.
I wants me the preshussss!!
I have not been excited about lipstick in a long time but Lisa’s formula is divine, the colors are amazing, and I love her packaging. Unfortunately, I am not going to be in a country where I can order the lippies until March …. 🙁
I completely agree. The Zoe Kravitz x YSL collab comes in second. I love LE’s lipsticks and got Skyscraper Rose, the sheer pink lipstick along with the Blue Velvet collection. I was so happy she came out with nude colors because the formula is fantastic!
Like many others here, I was thiiiis close to buying the Divine Rose palette but the way it was marketed turned me off too. I usually jump at new Pat McGrath stuff and if it hadn’t been for all of that nonsense around this one, it probably would have been my first big palette purchase from her.
I have not been tempted by much lately. Even the Hourglass releases failed to earn my enthusiasm this year. It was when I was examining the HG blush quad for shades I would wear all the time that I arrived at the decision to replace the Tarte Exposed blush in my collection that had gotten old. Now if either of the HG palettes had included an Exposed dupe this story would’ve ended differently.
I’ve resisted Chanel’s Lumiere de metal highlighter. I might have the name wrong but $70 for a highlighter! When I have a bunch. It’s so pretty tho and I have $20 in star money at Macy’s.
I also resisted the PM Divine Rose palette. At first I wasn’t paying $30 for shipping, then I was pix where it looked different. But moreover so many gold and heavily gold shades which I won’t use. I don’t look good in gold except in summer. Wish I did.
I’m really longing for a jar of La Mer. I have resisted as it is NOT cheap. And there is the old argument of those for, and those against. I’ve never been able to make up my mind. Yet I just love it!! Probably for the aesthetics than anything else. But at this time of the year, I can’t bring myself to pay for it!
See if you can get a sample. I received a sample from the luxury Play box from Sephora. I tried it on my hands b/c I could tell by the smell that it would aggravate the skin on my face and I was right. Idk what it is, but it made my hands start to slightly tingle and it felt like the skin on my hands could not breathed (I think it could be a combo of the added fragrance and paraffin wax). It was surprising b/c the skin on my hands is not sensitive in the slightest. Just be careful, especially, if you have sensitive skin.
The last makeup product that tempted me was the Natasha Denona Metropolis palette and I have resisted it. I do not need anymore eye shadows. Especially, ones that I have many dupes for. I did give into her mini Gold palette, but it will be going back b/c the mattes don’t show up that well on my skin, which is sad b/c the shimmers are to die for in that palette.
For skincare, the last one that tempted me was cleansing duo from Then I Met You (Charlotte Cho from Sokoglam’s line). I did not fight temptation, but I did wait long enough for it to make its way to the Sokoglam website, so about a year. I grabbed it during Sokoglams BF sale, so I’m anxiously waiting for it to arrive to me. I am super excited for the cleansing balm and I’m a little worried for the cleansing gel b/c the reviews are mixed. People either love it or hate it. I’m hoping I will love it b/c it’s winter time and I need a gentler cleanser for these colder months.
