What was the last nail polish you wore?

I have skittle nails using a bunch of polishes from ILNP! A personal friend of mine recommended them, and I had heard good things about them in the wider beauty community. I was distracting her from some bad news she received recently by putting together an order! I figured I’d send her the shades I wasn’t in love with as a bonus. (In the photo, from thumb to pinky: Skate Date, Downtown, Bundled Up, Revival, Black Orchid.)

OPI’s I’m Not Really a Waitress (it’s on my toes; nothing on my fingers). I used a very old OPI polish in a hideous shade, A Rose at Dawn; Broke by Noon, the other day to mark the bobbins that aren’t the right ones for my sewing machine. The difference between the right ones and the wrong ones is very slight so marking these other bobbins with nail polish seemed the smartest way to tell the difference (I use the “wrong” ones to spin off thread to use in my serger…long story but it works very well and I’m not left having to buy 3 large spools of neon orange or high viz yellow, etc.)

Clever use of ugly and ill-fitting things. I might have to steal that idea. I spin serger thread around seldom-used color spools, so I end up with a rainbow mess of thread around random spools to clean up when I finally need that color. Old bobbins would be so much cleaner!

There’s always enough on a bobbin for the needle on any projects I’ve undertaken. The loopers use more thread but I keep a close eye if I’m using a bobbin in one of the loopers because re-threading is such a nighmare. Also, for the bobbins, rather than putting them on the thread pin things, I put them in empty small yogurt containers behind the serger itself – they seem to run more smoothly that way.

That’s such a great use for nailpolish you don’t like! I use mine mark my apple headphones so I don’t confuse them with my husband’s 🙂

Lots of uses – I use one to distinguish between my iPad charging cable and my phone one (there’s no harm with interchanging them but apparently the iPad one is more “high power” or some such thing than the phone one). I’ve also used green polish for my daughter’s house key (green is her favourite colour) and that same vile pink for my house key because otherwise the keys look identical.

BRILL. I use nail polish to mark basically everything too! The ferrules of very similar makeup brushes (hardest/stiffest Pencil Brush is a deep red, softest is pink, etc), the entire handle of a makeup brush if it’s an ugly color, the base of Sharpies that still work but whose tips have gone squishy/non-pointy, tiny jars of mixed wood dye or stain whose colors I’ll need to replicate, scissor handles (if you use my marked Fabric Scissors for *anything* but fabric, I will subsequently further jack up those scissors by CUTTING YOU WITH THEM)…

Now I want a serger. :/

My nails are rarely unpainted and I change the polish about once a week. Currently, my left hand has three Holo Taco polishes (Circuit Breaker, Hydropower, and Purple Slushie) with some simple freehand art. There’s usually some stamping on my left hand, but not right now. My right hand is just Zoya Sandy. (Zoya seems to really struggle with cremes. I like their sparkly polishes, but the cremes I have always take like 5 coats for opacity. Ugh.)
My toes are also painted using ten different Holo Taco linear holos, haha. (The seven from the original rainbow collection plus the green, blue, and pink from the electric collection!)

ILNP is the only brand I use for my nails since I discovered the brand a couple years ago. Photos never do the polish justice, but sunlight…WOW, stunning polish. The polish is spendy at $10-$12 a bottle but totally worth it. The polish is more likely to “wear” at the tips than chip. The polish is available on the ILNP website or Amazon. Love it!

I’ve mainly been wearing Color Street instead of regular liquid polish. Kilowatt (neon green) is my mani shade right now. However, I do have Perf by Floss Gloss on my toes (it’s a baby pink shade).

I don’t know the actual name, but all my nails currently look your your pointer finger (from the image above) right now! 🙂
It’s a white-ish base with tiny golden flecks. Reminds me a bit of Champagne. 😉

OPI Hello Kitty collection: “Let’s Be Friends!” It’s such a pretty shade to wear in the Summer against tan skin. It really pops. On my toes I have China Glaze “Snap My Dragon”, another great Summer color because it’s a vibrant fuchsia.

I really haven’t worn polish in forever! Quarantine had me slacking. But I wore a pink Essie Gel polish (which was very good and lasted a long time), with China Glaze base (also very good), and Sugarpill gold sequin polish on top, I forgot the name lol. It was cute.

My little piggies are wearing Base Coat’s Scorpio, which is a bright red with teeny flecks of gold. I do my nails every Wednesday and today’s color will be Exit the Void by Smith & Cult. It’s a periwinkle and everything about it screams SUMMER.

Timely topic for me! I JUST yesterday got an LED UV lamp for at-home gel nails, and am now wearing my very first gel polish! Actually I just bought Beetles’ base coat and clear top coat, and applied a dry “sparkle mix” of my own creation over the sticky base and did two top coat layers over it. For like five years, my [craptacular] nails did great with three layers of Nailtiques 2 as a base, then 2 coats of [usually glittery] polish, a thick smoothing topcoat and then Insta-Dri topper — I’d get four, maybe five days out of that, sometimes more. But now I’m working with dyes, stains, varnishes, paints, and glues every day so I’m constantly washing my hands and brushes and bowls, and I’m also cooking at least 3-4 times a week … so a mani lasts three days tops and that is WAY too much work to only last ~65 hours. OK FINE, I’ll finally try gel nails. So far so good! And omg soooo faaaassst. So fast! And I don’t have to be extra-careful for the next hour and a half after they’re done! SOLD.

Pop Tart from the Makartt x Femi Beauty collab. I did a set of gels with just this shade and fell in love. It’s a gorgeous vintage rose jelly with holographic sparkles.

This is not a brand I know. I am looking forward to checking it out.

Right now I have Diet Starts Monday from Janet&Jo on my toes. On my fingers I have a soft orange that I created myself by mixing Day Party and The Phoenix, both from Janet&Jo. Day Party is a peach that is slightly too basic for me but The Phoenix is too bright an orange for my skin tone.

After not doing my nails for about two years due to an extremely busy schedule and stress biting my nails, I actually did my nails last night. And, I also recently got into ILNP (I have an extensive Zoya collection so branching out is exciting for me).

I did my toes in ILNP Juliette (metallic rose gold) and my fingers in ILNP Cameo (shifty multichrome that seems to be primarily purple with a copper and green shift). It’s a little darker than I prefer to wear in the summer, but I was just so excited to wear it and see all the color shifty goodness.

Eclipse is probably my favorite INLP color, although I don’t own many. They are really nice. I’m currently wearing gala-vanting by Essie. I was trying to use some of my rarely used shades. I rarely have time to do my nails let alone wait for a dry! I need fast dryers.

ILNP Night Drive for pedi, Chai Latte on fingers. Both are gorgeous shades, Night Drive has holo sparkles in deep blue, Chai Latte is really unique, pinkish mauve-tan with golden holo shimmer. I love ILNP polish, great formula and stunning colors! 🥰

Holo Taco is amazing! Cristine seems like a solid person, and the polish is great! I’m wearing Cats’ Evasion right now.

Christine, you need the Multichrome Bundle from their site! It matches your hair!

Last polish: OPI’s You’re Such a BudaPest layered over Essie’s Bikini So Teeny.
The color landed between cornflower blue and lavender, which was great for my skin undertone and felt refreshing compared to the heat outside. Even got a stranger compliment.

Right now: unpolished recovery days.
Tonight: a neutral-pink for the weekend as a palate cleanser, so I can contemplate how to approach August. Other than the blue-lav, this summer’s been french manicure heavy, and fall will be darks, weirds and metals, so maybe I should have a last hurrah for brights & whites, cliches tho’ they be.

ILNP have an exquisite range of shades and effects. The customer service is fantastic and really efficient. Their cruelty-free status is the cherry on top. I highly recommend this line.
