What was the last makeup launch or collection that stood out to you?

I don’t think I’d say “stood out” in the sense that it was really interesting/unique/different, but it did stand out to me because of the quality: Urban Decay’s Beached Collection. Loved the palette, loved the eyeliners (duh), and loved the lipsticks. Seriously so many products I’d wear often if I did that kind of thing.

I can’t really think of any and, to be honest, I’ve never been a big fan of “launches” and “collections” because I’m never interested in owning the whole thing or even a significant part of “the whole thing” – I like to choose individual items that fit a need in my makeup or in my lifestyle. To be honest, I find the consumerism and FOMO behind a lot of collections to be very off-putting because they seem to be created to encourage women (and men) to spend more than they ought and buy more than they need. I guess that LE “launch” of MAC’s Spellbinder shadows (the ones with the wavy surface) might be the last launch I can even really recall. And I liked it, even though it was gimmicky.

This is going to sound corny and I expect flack for it but the KKW Classic collection really stood out for me. The packaging is amazing, the shades were all so wearable and beautiful, and the eye shadow palette is an absolute joy to use. I know some people found it boring, and some people won’t touch it because of the name attached to it, but I looked forward to the collection and I haven’t been disappointed with the palette I picked up. After the restock I hope to get some lip liners and creme lipsticks too.

I don’t about an entire collection but the ABH Norvina palette is the latest thing to catch my eye. I don’t have anything too much like it in my collection. Picked it up recently and have been enjoying it!

I am not into collections, especially since wasting a lot of money on Smashbox Vlada Petal Metal products, which I never feel like wearing.

The last product launch to catch—and hold—my eye was the NARS Wanted Velvet Lip Glide Set, which I bought even though I have dupes for all of the lipsticks in the set. I just couldn’t resist the gorgeous formula and cute little packaging.

The last thing to really grab me was the Fenty Moroccan Spice palette. I am on a very low buy and knew I wouldn’t actually get it, but the layout and the colors really got me. Fortunately it hasn’t gotten great reviews so I don’t regret not purchasing it.

But that doesn’t really compare to my reaction to any of the Pat McGrath Decadence palettes, they are just so eye-poppingly beautiful! I don’t think anything has come close in a long time. The color schemes are so bold (not really suitable for my mundane life), and the palettes are so pricey, it wasn’t hard to resist actually getting any of them, but they are truly lovely and special.

I’m really excited for the Too Faced Tutti Frutti collection. I love a good theme with exciting packaging and scents. This collection stands out from the rest of Too Faced collections (Life’s a Festival, Anniversary, Chocolate Gold, etc…) because of the wide range assortment of products, the unique packaging and unique formulas. I am really looking forward to trying the foundation and eye shadows!

Me too! Although all the Too Faced collections you just mentioned are collections I have or will buy items from. The only one they’ve done that I haven’t loved is their naturals. I just feel like there are better neutrals than what Too Faced makes.

But yes…I’m already picking and choosing what to buy from this one!

GOOD: The MAC x Aaliyah collection. I was surprised by how much I loved it. I had to restrain myself from buying all of it. I couldn’t resist the eye palette, Street Thing Lipstick, and 1 in a Million lipglass. They’re all utterly beautiful and perform beautifully.

Honorable mentions: UD Beached, UD Born to Run, and Coloured Raine Vivid Pigments.

BAD: MAC again, this time Nicopanda. I loved the packaging and color selections, but the quality was so bad I skipped buying any of it.

There have been a few very recently! MAC x Aaliyah captured Aaliyah’s aesthetic quite perfectly even though it didn’t exactly address her music video looks. The one glaring exception being that “bronzer”, oy vey.
The others that got me hooked were; UD Beached, DoC iluvSarahii collection, and Dominique Cosmetics Lemonade collection.
Even though I adore my UD BTR palette, the collection as a whole just didn’t grab me, so I didn’t add that one.

I don’t think I have ever purchased an entire collection but the two most recent collections that I picked up several pieces from and loved them all were the Nars Erdem collection (I picked up one of the e/s palettes, a lipstick, a highlighter and a blush) and the Dior Backstage Collection. I know it didn’t receive rave reviews but the products that I purchased I have loved. I got the eye shadow palette, the face palette and a lip.

Smashbox/Vlada – that packaging tho. Picked up the highlighter and e/s palette 50% off and the packaging alone was worth it! Rose gold is my fave color, and the lips/roses art is soooo sexy.

Good: I’d have to say UD Beached as well. Everything about it works for me color-wise, and I was happy to see UD have a success like this.

Bad: That MAC one themed on music, the one where the palette was like a soundboard or something like that. Cannot remember the name, but i remember the look and the dismal reviews.

For me, it was also the UD Beached Palette. I absolutely love this one. I don’t have any of their eyeshadows, so it was a great way to try them. I can see me wearing this a lot all year round here, in S. Florida. Those 2 teal eyeshadows really accent my teal eyes, along with the bronzey, orange eyeshadows. Close 2nd is the Vlada eyeshadow palette & the eyeliner, plus the bronzey liquid lip. Love the formula of these too. I mix & match both palettes. Pair with my many Coral, & Orange red lipsticks, gold or bronze highlighters, & I’m good to go, lol.

Fenty. I’m not crazy about Fenty, but it marked me. When I arrived at the Sephora store, not expecting the glam and show they set up for it, it made and impression. All of the foundation shades in a row, impressive! I was a tad disappointed that there were nay “eyeshadows”, though I know many use the kilowatt series for that. I only have a foundation and two Match Stixs (and I do like those for contouring or even as foundation). At the moment, the only thing I’m looking forward to purchasing from them the very last silver kilowatt, which is stunning!

There are so many right now that I actually just made a list of all the ones I want to get something from before I opened this page. I got a few MAC Oh Sweeties and I want a few more.

The upcoming sequel to last year’s Sephora Pro Palettes – I can’t wait and yes, I will fork over my $200 or so for all three of these. I love the ones I got last year that much.

I’m super excited for both Too Faced Tutti Fruity and their Anniversary collection.

The only entire collections I normally buy are Wet n Wild, because of price and convenient packaging, so I’ll probably grab at least one Zodiac if not all four.

BH’s new Rio Edition of Back to Brazil.

Jeffree Starr’s Thirsty palette, but I got that.

And I’m surprisingly drawn in by Natasha Denona’s Camel 5-pan palette. Might this be my first ND purchase?

Honorable mention to Karity’s Rose (no accent on the keyboard, but it’s rosay like the wine) all Day. Karity always lures me in with beautiful palettes at affordable prices, but the quality is a little more drugstore than other affordable palette brands like BH, Morphe, Juvia’s, and Colourpop. I’m never in love with how they perform but they lure me in anyway. They aren’t bad, just not at the level of any other brand I mentioned here, except maybe Wet n Wild.

I fell for the hummingbirds so bad had to order Flight of Fancy from my beloved WetnWild. Each time I have to swipe over the gorgeous imprint on those blushes I feel I’m going to scream in pain. Don’t want to erase them! Lol! Now I also have way too many lip glosses. I rearely buy the entire collection but this I had to have including the cute pin which I placed on my jean jacket WetnWild should pay me for advertising them. Lol! I was strong with the mermaid collection although it was tough loving all things mermaid/ocean related but I’m too old for metallic stuff so had to skip. It becomes too much also regarding space to store all the madness.
Anything with roses I’d love to collect too.

Before today, I’d say the one collection that stood out to me was MAC’s Jean-Michel Basquiat collection. Everything about it appealed to me, but the only thing I ended up purchasing was the Anatomy eyeliner (as a replacement for my Sephora gel liner of a similar shade — Sly Like A Fox? — that dried up).

However … as of today I’ve become aware of the Fire & Ice collection from Wet’n’Wild, which is a riff on Game of Thrones, and (ridiculous as it seems to me) I’m intrigued.
