What was the last hyped-up product you were impressed with?

I feel like there’s usually a fair amount of buzz over a new Natasha Denona palette, so I’d say the Sunrise palette! Loved the smaller size, and the performance/color scheme were nice.

Colourpop Velvet Blur Lux Lipstick. Bought mine in CA Love and I love it!

Kaja Bento Bouncy Shimmer Eyeshadow Trio in Rosewater. Very beautiful shimmers for the eye!

Fenty Pro F’lter Powder in Butter. I haven’t purchased a loose powder in awhile. I got this powder as a Sephora Pt Perk and I went back to buy a bigger size so ya know it’s good when you are inspired to do that!

HUDA Orange Obsession. Such a fun little summer palette. Unlike anything in my collection. There is a glittery orange shade that has me obsessed!

Presently, nothing really leaps to mind. I was thinking the PMG new base products would be killer tempting for me, but I’ve looked at the shades and I’m fairly confident I need to mix two (L5 with a bit of LM14) to get a proper match. There are no olive shades in the light category. That’s 200 CAD for foundation which has me balking.

I second the struggle of light olive shades! I find it’s not just a foundation but also a bronzer problem. MUFE used to have a blue mixing medium that would green-up any foundation but that feels like too much work!

LA Girl has a really good blue mixer, and it’s very “forgiving”, and a simple pump really does the trick for me. I also have to add white with some foundations, but even adding both doesn’t affect the foundation. Plus, it’s really inexpensive, and easily available. I have one bottle of each going, and 3 backups of each…

I got Lisa Eldridge Love of My Life because I was looking for that perfect everyday rose lipstick and I was disappointed.
on me, it has a bit of a white base. one swatch is too sheer to give any color, two swatches and it’s a very true pink. almost like a 12year old wearing lipstick for the very first time or my grandmother’s kind of pink lipstick. the formula is very nourishing but I don’t like the finish (it’s a lot more shiny than my Clinique chubby stick for example)
I am a bit disappointed because I was so excited about it. I try to layer it now with something underneath but I think I will give it to someone with a lighter skin tone (I am medium light with olive undertones)
the lipsticks are getting restocked (preorders are available on July 24 through her website)

Thank you for telling of your personal experience with Love Of My Life lipstick, Bridget! Because pinks can be so tricky with my olive undertones, I always struggle with the medium to light shades of pink that have any sort of white base in them. They just look off most of the time, ie; MAC x Mary J Blige French Silk.
Also, thanks for mentioning the restock! I’ll just go with the 2 mattes, I think.

You’re welcome, Nancy! I think you have to sign up for her websites newsletter to get notification of preorders. She said she’s coming out with new shades in October so I decided to hold off on buying any of the reds for now!

Pat McGrath’s Bronze Seduction palette. Laying down the matte shades was so quick and easy. My eyeshadow technique is not the best, and most of the time I end up with a lot of fallout no matter what eyeshadow I use. That was not the case with these shadows; maybe I’ll dare to do my base first one of these days! And of course, the shimmers are stunning and add so much oomph without a lot of effort.

I’m not generally attracted by “hype” – I’m at an age where usefulness and good quality matter more to me than “hype” or what’s hot or what’s come down from the latest “collab” with an “influencer”. So probably the last thing was the Urban Decay Game of Thrones palette (I knew I’d regret not buying it once it was gone) and 2 of the pencil liners from that collection but, again, not because of the hype but because one (Lannister Gold) was very much like a LE colour from long ago that I’d always wanted and because the other (The Night King) is the sort of colour I use often but this was a somewhat different colour than similar ones I already own.

I’m not sure how hyped up it was outside of Instagram, but I got Menagerie Cosmetics Whalesong. I really love it. It’s very pigmented and the mattes are easy for me to work with. I love the artwork on the packaging also. I pre-ordered her purple palette based on the performance of that one.

It is rather sad but I can’t think of a single thing! I haven’t purchased a lot of makeup over the past 8 months so maybe there was something before that but nothing comes to mind. It wasn’t exactly hyped up but the Viseart Coy palette is probably the closest I can come. The only hyping being done was from myself, LOL!

I don’t find myself influenced by “hype”, so this is really difficult…

Melt Cosmetics Gemini palette; while it was “hyped”, I was already well-acquainted with the brand, so although expectations were met, I wouldn’t say I was “impressed”. I knew I’d be getting something I loved.

Ofra Glazed Donut highlighter; I did purchase this fairly recently, so I don’t know how “hyped” this product still is, but I do absolutely love it. The color is perfect, and the formula is beautiful.

Maybelline Superstay Foundation; again, I don’t follow “hype”, so I don’t know how well-received this was, but this is literally the only product that has truly impressed me in ages! I bought it on a whim, and decided to put it through a real test when I picked up an 8 hour dishwasher shift, and it remained nearly flawless! Also, my blush, contour, and highlighter stayed in place. Granted, I did use a primer & setting powder, but it still exceeded all expectations.

Catrice HD foundation; this is the foundation I generally reach for as a Server, especially when I need something that doesn’t require mixing, as the shade (010) is a pretty good match, and it isn’t drying; I also don’t need to go over it with a damp sponge, as the formula is fairly thin.

Ana Maria Avatar

I also liked a lot theMaybelline Superstay Foundation, it was a great foundation. Not really up to par with my holy grails (Estee Lauder Double Wear, MAC Prolongwear Waterproof, Becca Ultimate Coverage), but quite close considering the price difference.

Linda Avatar

Last hyped up launch I bought into was Fenty bronzers. I got Inda Sun, it barely pays off and is an exact match to my skin tone but kept it anyway. I was impressed by the packaging more than the product!

janine Avatar

Lisa Eldridge go lightly. I was gonna get the sunrise palette but honestly don’t even like those colors mostly. Love the size and price point.

I’ve gotten some new things but been on vacay and haven’t worn makeup for 2 weeks!! Lol!

The last hyped up product that I bought and was impressed with was the Marc Jacob’s Steeletto palette. The formula is one of my favorites, the packaging- stellar, and the cool toned shades were such a welcome change. I like that I can do both a neutral and plum based look, even all mattes. I’m not sure if “hyped” is really accurate but I did take note that the people who really raved about it had coloring similar to mine.

The last hyped-up product that I invested in was the Game of Thrones eyeliners and I’m very glad I did, they were all winners for me. Lannister Gold is a back up for my discontinued ABH gold glitter eyeliner. Now I’m just waiting patiently for PMG’s foundation release and I’ll be happy (I’m hoping!)

Mariella Avatar

Isn’t Lannister Gold outstanding? I don’t know of anything that is available here (in Canada) that is anywhere similar. Years ago, Christine showed a stunning LE Bare Minerals liner that I don’t think every even came to Canada and which I wanted soooo much that I’d have grabbed it though the screen if I could have. Lannister Gold is the closest I’ve seen to that shade and I really wish UD would make it permanent, maybe with a different name since the Lannister one would be under some sort of licensing/copyright laws.

Marc Jacobs Velvet Noir Major Volume Mascara. And I’m usually not that impressed by the over-hyped mascaras. I tried it as a sample size from Sephora, really liked it, but I wouldn’t purchase a full size. Will I get a mini as a point perk from Sephora again? Definitely!
