Estée Lauder Double Wear has been my HG makeup for many, many years. It goes on smoothly and evenly, has a perfect amount of coverage, and lasts the entire day without touch-ups, never caking or oxidizing. Every few years I’ll try a different brand, but I always go back to ELDW.
I’ve not worn foundation in ages and ages but just last night, before cleansing my face, I wanted to try out a VERY OLD bottle of Clarins Skin Illusion foundation, which I’ve been hoarding sort of (another product reformulated and NOT for the better, hence the “hoarding”) to see if it would oxidize (I know one of my old foundations, though I can’t recall which one, did oxidize quite badly). Anyway, it looked so nice that I decided I would wear it, maybe tomorrow (Wednesday) when I’m not going to the gym but, rather, going out to look for something to wear to an upcoming wedding. SO – it looked gorgeous for the 10 minutes or so that I had it on. The colour match is perfect and it does a lot to blend out the redness and broken capillaries on my cheeks and it has a lovely, velvety finish. I do wish companies would STOP with this reformulation stuff….this foundation has fragrance but I think the “new” version also does, so why not just leave well enough alone?
To me the Clarins Everlasting foundation is my holy grail and I am seriously upset that they d/c it too. I still have some left in a bottle that I ‘hoard’ for special occasions.
I hope you find the outfit you like for the wedding. So tricky to find when you are looking for that right one.
Yup – it’s always so easy to find stuff that I like or would wear but for a special occasion outfit – UGH! And I think I need to find a different “foundation garment” – the Spanx I have is basically a battle-ground if I have to go to the washroom and I’m wearing a dress over it. My SIL has one that’s more like the old style girdles in that it’s not a “panty” – it’s more like a waist/tummy cincher and you just wear your regular undies over it so there’s no need to pull it down and then engage in a struggle to get it back up again…. I know – probably TMI but ya’ notice, the GUYS don’t have quite these issues (though one of the male trainers at my gym said they actually do have Spanx for men too….though he could have been humouring me).
MAC Studio Fix Powder and Foundation NC 30, goes on smoothly, has the right amount of coverage, does not change color on me and last all day. Been wearing it for a decade.
Dior Backstage. Lightweight. Soft matte finish. Wears well all day. Good for oily skin
Recently tried the Lisa Eldridge foundation and am really liking it, my new favorite….It comes in 40 shades so the shade range is great…The only thing I would recommend is to send for the sample cards which you can pick in all the shade ranges first as I have found they run much lighter than you would expect. They are very skin like and thin but have good coverage, and unlike most foundations they look better by the end of the day than the beginning as they seem to meld into your skin…..this is the opposite of most that look better when you first apply them….I’m a fair-light neutral/pink and I first ordered # 5 and ended up with #7…and they are still VERY light which supprised me as I’m usually one of the first one or two numbers in most brands…
MAC Prolongwear Waterproof Foundation, still a favorite after many years. Especially during the recent warmer days, it can take a sweat and still look good at the end of the day. I love the good coverage I get with a small amount.
Since my beloved MAKE UP FOREVER Ultra HD foundation was discontinued, I’ve gone back to the L’Oreal True Match foundation. My skin is sensitive to a lot of ingredients so I have to keep it simple and this foundation does the trick without irritation! I wear it occasionally over my sunscreen and it’s a nice, basic foundation; it wears well, is buildable to about medium coverage as claimed (a little goes a long way for me as I don’t generally like the look of heavy foundation), and matches my fair skin well! I’m so glad they still make this foundation, at least, because it’s difficult to find something that matches my skin and won’t irritate my face.
I am also a fan of this foundation, having tried for many years to get one that was light enough for me and had the cool undertones. I find it doesn’t irritate my sensitive skin either.
Because I *had* been to the pool several times before the Phoenix INFERNO began 2½ weeks ago (or longer 🤔), I did pick up enough color to Frankenstein a mixture of MAC Strobe Light, Pro Longwear Nourishing Waterproof Foundation in a mix of NW30 with NC41. It wore pretty well, but I think that the tube of NC41 is going off, as it didn’t wear as well as it had before?
Sephora Collection Best Skin Ever powder foundation. I bought shade 04 the day it launched and have been loving it. It has a solid medium coverage, a soft matte finish and it lasts all day without cracking or getting patchy.
I also tried the Haus Lab’s foundation and I love it. I normally wear Maybelline Fit Me Dewy but the Haus Labs has slightly more coverage. Plus when I was wearing a sample, one of my neighbors told me I looked like I was glowing. So now I must wear this foundation forever, lol.
Today I am wearing my perenial favourite L’Oreal’s True Match foundation in Porcelain Rose. I find it to offer medium coverage that is easy to apply, blends well into my skin and doesn’t turn cakey or oxidises over time. The pump delivery ensures that you only get out what you need – one pump is enough for your face.
There are many shades in this range, offering a colour match to a wide variety of skintones and undertones – which not all foundations do. An added bonus is that it is widely available and often on sale.
I’ve been using MAC Face & Body in N2 or N3. I get a very smooth, dewy, luminous look by first exfoliating the skin, then applying a pump of Clinique Dramatically Different Moisturizer all over the face, then mixing a drop of the MAC Face & Body with an equal-size drop of more moisturizer in my hand and then applying it to face. I top off with a bit of concealer if needed. Then powder blush, lip balm and lipstick, and brow gel. I’ve gotten many compliments on this look.
Armani Crema Nuda; it’s a lovely skincare plus foundation. They don’t call it a tinted moisturizers, but it’s along that type of line but with more than just moisturizing ingredients added in. It’s one of those foundations that you can throw on your skin when it’s in good shape or stressed and know it will look good and your skin will look even and perfected. Due to the formulation, the color range is limited like a lot of tinted moisturizer type products, but the colors they do have a very flexible. Not sure what it is about the formula and undertones, but it seems to adjust for a broad range of skintones – though that is not a claim Armani makes.
Haus Labs Triclone is honestly the best foundation I’ve ever used. It looks so nice on the skin, doesn’t irritate or break me out, applies flawlessly with any tool including fingers. I just wish they didn’t follow MAC and switch warm and cool. Overall though it’s still 10/10 for an everyday foundation.
I’m using a small sample of Armani Luminous Silk and I like it a lot as well. That might become my 2nd foundation. I always have two or more, but Haus Labs will be my main forevermore.
