What was the last foundation that tempted you?

Shiseido RevitalEssence Skin Glow Foundation – Shiseido usually has good formulas for complexion, but they don’t always have a good shade range (this one seems better than past releases).

There are quite a few that have peaked my interest. The Chanel Les Beiges Water Fresh Tint and the Touch one also. In the same brand I also have seen a lot of talk about No1 de Chanel. It is suppose to be good for older skin. I did swatch them while in Spokane and liked the feel but decided to wait and do more research. I know that they only offer low to medium coverage but that is more where I am at now. I have decided to embrace my imperfections although that doesn’t mean I won’t keep trying to fight time with skincare, LOL!

Sorry for the double message, Christine, but you are right, Shiseido has always done foundations well. I think they think they are being inclusive if they have more than three shades as most Asian beauty brands do. I have to say that in comparison to other Asian brands, Shiseido is a lot more inclusive. I order a lot of cushion foundations from Asian markets and if you are much darker than a piece of paper and you have cool undertones, you won’t find much there to buy. I am lucky in that I am very fair. Shiseido use to have a killer eyeshadow formula and as I have mentioned on the blog before, I owned just two shades. Shiseido was one of the luxury brands available at Macy’s in Reno, Nevada when I lived there. I bought the two famous shades that I mention on the blog all the time. They were Silkspun Greengold and Silkspun Purple. Those, along with one Revlon shadow in a brown color were all the shadows I wore for over 3 years! I can’t even imagine only choosing between three shades now, LOL!

MAC Studio Radiance Serum-Powered Foundation – With MAC Studio Fix Fluid, I have to mix two shades to get the color I want. I’m worried I would have to buy two bottles and I really need to slow down on makeup purchases. I may purchase it after more “real” reviews and videos are out.

Kosas foundaton…I saw a beauty advisor at Sephora wearing it with the Kosas setting powder and I had to ask him what he was wearing….I’ve never seen such beautiful skin! I caved and bought it and love it, but it does not set by itself and even with the powder you have to be careful not to be touching your face or it will come off. That being said it makes you look very flawless if you don’t touch your face during the day….

After holding out for a long time, I purchased a bottle of Giorgio Armani’s Luminous Silk foundation. And wow! It’s amazing. I use the shade 5.25. (For reference, I am an NW25 in MAC and my shade in Estee Lauder’s Doublewear is Fresco.)

Well that’s an interesting question because I have been looking at different foundations lately for a change.
Most of the ones I have tested recently DO NOT tell you what their undertones are in the Porcelain/Ivory range and that bugs me to high heaven. You get all the info and garbage about how good it is, but the most relevant info is neglected.
The trouble is all the imported brands are so jolly expensive here and I go through so much foundation that I was hoping for something great in the mid tier range.
I will be interested to read what others think here. But yes, Shiseido do make a great foundation.

Considering how rarely I wear foundation, your praise for the La Mer foundation, Christine, is just another example of how crazy I am when it comes to makeup. Honestly, if Sephora carried this in-store, I’d probably buy it but as there is NO WAY for me to get a proper colour match, I’m not willing to shell out major bucks and take a chance…. (I hope I’m right in that it’s the La Mer foundation you love so much).

Guerlain Terracotta Le Teint us something I would like to test the next time I need to replace my foundation. Many years ago, though, I was not able to get a good shade match with Guerlain, but I don’t know if they have improved their offering to different undertones. With my Shiseido foundation, on the other hand, I have just the perfect match.
