We don't want to set expectations and then disappoint readers as even products that are swatched don't always end up being reviewed due to time constraints and changes in priorities! A very old (they don’t even make it any longer) but still in great shape foundation from Clarins (I think it’s one that’s quite sadly missed and the “replacement” product gets some pretty negative comments, usually coupled with “why did they discontinue the original….”). I don’t usually wear foundation but figured I looked so pale that I’d give this old faithful a try.
Yes, my all time favourite foundation is a Clarins one too – Everlasting foundation in the Linen shade. I just have a bit left and of course, it is d/c as well. There is no genuine replacement in this shade at all in their current range. So I get where you are coming from Mariella – so very annoying when brands do this – d/c their best products.
I used both the Everlasting and Skin Illusion foundations from Clarins. EVERYTHING I love gets discontinued! EVERYTHING!!! MAC Craving and Full Fuchsia lipsticks; The Body Shop’s Spa of the World (or whatever the name was) Brittany Coast shower gel, Kukui and Japanese Camellia body creams, the Clarins throat cream that was so good (they kept the pricier and crummier Super Restorative one, though) as well as their foundations, concealer and cleansing cream that were real “must haves” for me. They also used to make a really good eye cream that was sort of the eye counterpart to their Beauty Flash Balm. It was meant as an occasional “pick me up” for tired eyes rather than a daily moisture/eye cream but it was SO GOOD (I would use it when I had a cold and my eyes were puffy and dull and it was almost like magic). They had some wonderful longer lasting lipsticks and really great Gloss Prodige lip glosses. Sephora no longer carries a product from REN that I adored (and it’s too pricey on Amazon and I’ve no idea what the cost would be to order from REN). Seriously, if I like something and you happen to like it too, stock up because it will vanish before too long.
MAC Studio Fix Powder Foundation NC30
Estée Lauder Double Wear, as always.
Either MAC Face & Body or L’Oréal True Magic Anti Redness BB Cream
MAC Studio Fix liquid foundation mixed with a little Kosas foundation for a better color match.
MAC Pro Longwear Nourishing Waterproof foundation in NW30 mixed with some MAC Strobe Cream. I have found that adding a liquid highlighter or Strobe Cream cuts oxidation down significantly! That’s one of the downsides to many long wearing foundation formulas, I’ve found: oxidation that not only deepens the shade within an hour, but also turns it really orange looking. Why I don’t know.
Laura Geller Balance and Brighten Foundation.
Lancome Teint Idole Care & Glow in 120N.
I think it was Flower Beauty’s Skin Illusion foundation. I have run out of it now and have started using my old faithful L’Oreal’s True Match in porcelain rose because the Skin Illusion is a bit ‘thick’ for summer.
