What trend would you like to see make a comeback?

I’d like to see glossy lips come back but in lipstick form–more luminous, pearlized finishes–which I think we’re seeing some resurgence of but not yet enough, IMO!

To risk sounding like a broken record: Color. I’m still so sick of neutrals, neutrals, neutrals. I understand why they’re popular and why they’re needed. I love a high-quality neutrals palette or perfect brown lipstick. But neutrals can also get so dreadfully boring and conformist. Modern Renaissance helped a lot with its reds, but now it’s being copied to death. I think color is starting to come back, albeit slowly. It’s heartening to see so many lipstick collections this year include purple, black, green, and blue. It’s great to see Tarte break back into colors with its latest palette. Melt Gemini and Smoke Sessions are so nice to see with all the greens. Bad Habit Beauty and Ace Beauté both put out really pretty, good-quality, inexpensive purple-themed palettes.

Even neutrals are starting to gain more color-for example, I love that Huda Beauty used so many pink and purple tones in the New Nudes palette. This trend is coming down into drugstore makeup too-L’Oreal and Revlon both have pinky/purply variations of their nude palettes, and the various types of palettes under Maybelline’s The Nudes name have all featured neutrals with coordinating pops of color.
I for one hope these two trends-more color in neutrals and more color in general-continue.

Don’t no if this is a comeback or a keep it longer, but just a couple of years ago I saw interest in the wet eyeshadow look and I didn’t even begin to try it when I longer saw anyone talking about it. I think it looks great though I’m certain it probably wasn’t practical. I’d like to see it a little more mainstream, that said, I plan to incorporate it into my weekly looks anyway.

Initially I wanted to say thinner eye brows because then my natural brows might be back in style but I would have to say thin brows with holes where no hairs grow in order for me to have fashionable brows, LOL. I think that the Instagram brow or more boxy and bushy brows are slowly dying, also. I would like more natural brows to make a comeback. I feel like brows should frame the canvas but huge, bushy brows just draw attention to themselves.

Hi Susan,
I have used several lash growth serums and they have all worked but my issue is actually not having any hair in certain areas of my brows as a consequence of chemotherapy. The hair growth products don’t seem to work where the follicles are actually dead, at least not on me. They do help my brow hairs and lashes grow longer and a little stronger but haven’t helped where there are bald spots.

Shaped brows that are “thin”if natural I’m down for. My brows are not super thin but they are bushy either. I love a well groomed and clean brow. Big block.brows or bushy brows just flattering I think. I’m not into the super thin 90s brows btw but maybe looking for a happy medium. And definitely not the IG pomade brow. It’s so harsh!

First off, LOVE this question. What I want to see come back was sort of popular over the past year, but I don’t think it caught on enough….80’s-style blush! Or, draping, contouring with blush, heavy blush…whatever you want to call it. I just love how over the top it is. But, I’d like to see a modernized form, where blush is used to contour, but perhaps with a lighter hand.

I never stopped doing that, LOL! I’ve “tweaked” the technique to suit me better, and give it a less “dated” feel, but it definitely can be quite flattering.

I have never really stopped draping as it just suits my high cheek bones. I’ve been really into contouring/bronzing with blush. I

Same, same, same. I was excited when Marc Jacobs’ Air Blushes came out because they were supposed to be for draping, but it never caught on as a trend :/

Yes! I love glossy lips. I can’t resist putting a gloss over my lipstick. I have somewhat full lips and I want them to look as voluptuous as possible.

I wish black lipstick were more of a popular thing. I think it looks beautiful and mysterious. It’s especially beautiful on darker complexions. I have had my eye on MAC In the Spirit for quite some time. I can’t wait to try it out.

Same thing as last year, possibly even several years running; glossy lip finishes and hopefully an end to the shriveled up, dry liquid lipstick trend. And it is happening! Slow, but steadily. I couldn’t be happier, tbh!
We are also, very thankfully, getting more colorful eyeshadow palettes. For example, the ones by Huda Beauty in various gemstone color configurations, or by PMGL, CP, plus Lila by ND.

Like you, Christine, I’d like to see glossy or moist looking lips make a total comeback (meaning I’d like to see the end of those dry-gulch matte lipsticks). I’d also like to see lip-coloured and gorgeous berry lips totally replace the nude lip look.

I second the return of color for eyeshadow… and not only the super bright and shimmery ones, I want more muted colors I can wore on the daily and pair with more neutral.

A few trends I would like to see returned include:
1. More creamier, glossier lipsticks rather than matte finishes or lip glosses.
2. A return to actual shades of lipstick instead of many, many variations of the nude theme
3. Colourful eye palettes – Tarte’s new one and Melt’s Smoke Sessions is a trend in the right direction without the production issues. We’ve done enough reds, pinks and oranges to last for awhile.

Yaaaasss! more glossy lips with pearly, delicate shimmer! In comfortable, moisturizing formulas!
I love glossy finishes because they can hide a multitude of lip problems & make your lips look smoother & bigger.

ITA!! If anyone from Urban Decay is reading this, how about releasing Naked Ice next? A palette with lots of purples, plums, frozen berries and cool blues would be brilliant 🙂

Sheer lipsticks. Not tinted balms or blotted lips but proper pigmented colour sheer lipsticks. Super flattering, easy to wear and not usually super high maintenance. Not a super shiny or glossy finish but something that allows your natural lip colour and tone to peek through.

Colourpop used to do a small range of sheer lippie stix but they seem to have vanished, sadly.

Less fish pouts especially on young girls, beauty gurus. But is awful on older woman too. Less badly done contour on noses trying to make them thinner it looks so obvious. To me it looks like a deer. Lol! Or some related animal that has the nose like that.
Just overall less monkey makeup I seen too much of everything. Too much highliter, heavy mascara, contouring, oh gosh! and the wrong foundation shade is awful some wear too yellow, orangey or a white cast looks awful. Heavy eyeliner, too much going on eyes altogether doesn’t look Smokey but a monsoon about to brake loose.
Just tone down all these craziness going on. Bring back the classic.

The best I’ve found for pearl-finish lipsticks lately is Revlon.
I’m not too big a fan of the glossy finish-I stick more to pearl, satin, demi-matte-but I’m also tired of how drying a lot of mattes tend to be. Matte finish is fine-I actually like it-but at least add moisturizing ingredients to the mix!
