We appreciate enthusiasm for new releases but ask readers to please hold questions regarding if/when a review will be posted as we can't commit to or guarantee product reviews. We don't want to set expectations and then disappoint readers as even products that are swatched don't always end up being reviewed due to time constraints and changes in priorities! This is a tough one because it changes all the time. Reading Genevieve’s comments about using the Naked2 palette got me thinking how much I love that so my “latest” list is:
MAC Sweet Sentiment Mineralize Blush
MAC Grand Entrance eyeshadow (I think it was from Starflash)
either UD Naked (original) or Naked 2
Honourable mention must go to Chanel Empreinte du Desert (that was Limited Edition – does that count or not?) which should have been made permanent!
I also miss the UD Naked….but wish it would come back with an updated/improved formula. Viseart/Natasha Denona/ Pat McGrath quality. How cool 😎
I think Mariella that the ND Glam palette would be a suitable substitute for Naked 2 – an expanded range of soft greys and pewter shades. By next week I will be using mine like crazy and I will let you know. If it works for me, it would probably work for you too – seeing as we both have the same ‘tastes’ in eyeshadows.
I looked on the UD site last night (the Canadian one) and it’s still showing Naked2, which I was certain had been discontinued. I considered getting the ND Glam palette during the VIB sale and realized that I have so, so much eye shadow that I really couldn’t justify buying it but who knows how long that “realization” will hold me back? (what I spent on the 2 recent Dior 5-pans would easily have paid for it, with change to spare, though I don’t regret those 2 purchases in the least).
NARS x Erdem sheer lipstick formula, MAC Ultimate Lipstick in Marque, Bite Beauty Lip Mask in its earlier formulation
Chanel dragon. Guerlain garconne. Chanel mirifique. All courtesy of you.
These are very much oldies, but goodies…
Prescriptives – their entire foundation line including Unmakeup & Traceless.
Chantecaille Real Skin compact foundation
Vincent Longo Water Canvas.
I too miss Vincent Longo water canvas, even though it only lasted me about 5 weeks before it needed replacing.
Urban Decay Sheer Rapture lipstick, NARS Sex Fantasy blush, and the Clinique gel pot eyeliners.
The Face Shop Dessert Honey lip balm. Scinic Honey AIO. Revo’s holiday collections.
Yardley EVERYTHING! Yep, I’m that old.
Oh yes..the first lipstick and eyeshadow I ever purchased..or my Mom purchased for me..
I still have the Glimmericks tin…glued other shadows into it. Too nostalgic to throw it out.
Benefit Lemon Lift! I miss this so much!
Nars Dolce Vita lipstick pre-reformulation
The *full line* of Clinique’s Almost Lipsticks
Almay i-Color Mascara for Green Eyes in Raisin Quartz, UD Vice Lipstick in Sheer Rapture, and the UD Electric Palette.
Prescriptives – the whole line!
bite original luminous cream lipsticks
Lancome thick liner/shadow pencils from about 30 yrs ago
MAC Hot Tahiti glaze lipstick
That’s it. The constant upgrades in products make it hard to miss very much else.
I was just thinking the same thing.
1.) MAC Ultimate Lipstick in Marque
2.) UD Afterglow Blushes
3.) Chanel Empriente du Desert Quad
Bourjois Eclat de rire lipstick no. 35. I’ve used up 3 tubes some 20 years ago and then it was dc. L’oreal Million lashes mascara in burgundy and green.
Christine, you’ll be happy to know that Chanel is bringing back the Rouge Allure Lacque formula! They’ve released some shades in Singapore already so hopefully the American release is soon as well.
Yep, I’ve seen! 🙂 None of the shades are named Dragon, so since I haven’t seen them in person (nor tried them), I’m not getting too excited over it yet!
Going old school to one of the first makeup products that got me excited as a teen-Club Monaco Eye Grease! Also, Mac Funbathing lipstick and super inexpensive Rommel Santa Rose blush.
Shiseido Rouge Rouge Lipstick in Red Queen
Too Faced Poreless Bronzer
Pat McGrath Luxetrance Lipstick in Realness
Mac Lavender Whip lipstick in the original shade
Tarina Tarantino Spark of Envy eye liner
Mac Blue Absinthe eye shadow
MAC slim shine lipsticks, MAC tinted moisturizer (the original)
YSL had a lovely cream/mousse textured blush that I loved so much. I really miss it.
And of course, ABH Sultry….🥲
Yes!! Those were a wonderful formula. I still have one shade left (#5) It was a very bright pink but sheered out to a beautiful flush of color. I don’t use it anymore because it’s so old however the formula is still good, it has not dried out at all!
They are bringing back ABH Sultry for the holidays! Check their site.
Lancôme Imanance Tinted Cream (have used as my “foundation” for years), Stila Aqua Glow Watercolor Blush and Kiehl’s Heat Protective Silk Straightening Cream. I stockpiled the Imanance and Aqua Glow but am worried about them going bad before I use them up. Wish I had known that the Silk Straightening Cream was being discontinued. I am on my last tube and haven’t found anything that works as well in my hair.
Linds, for the heat protector try Bumble & Bumble Save the Day. It’s a little pricey at $45, and I never tried the Kiehl’s one but it sounds alot like the B&B one. It’s very lightweight and my hair absolutely feels like silk. I just love it so much!
I will check it out, thanks!
Oh the photo! Is this a Boston Terrier?
Yes it is!
Adorable flat-faces! We had our first Boston from in 1984 till 1999, actually the first litter in Greece! Her mother was from Oklahoma and her father from Saarbrücken Germany. Now our new little girl is 2 years old. Big hugs from Greece!
Oh wow, that’s so awesome! I’m in USA, Florida. Enjoy your baby girl, they are so precious!!
The three discontinued products that I would bring back would be:
Tom Ford’s Emerald Lust quad
Colour Pop’s Snakebite Super Shock eyeshadow
Milani’s Cinnamon Spice lipstick.
Honourable mention goes to:
Chanel’s Empriente du Desert Quad – that I was never able to get my hands on
Stila’s In the Know palette
Chanel Dragon *sigh* best red ever
MAC Viva Glam V lipstick and gloss
Tie between MAC Viva Glam Cyndi and MAC Strawberry Blonde lipsticks
I’m so sad I didn’t get a backup in time of the Marc Jacobs Kink & Kisses air blush. I’ve almost used mine up and while I have tons of others, that blush just became a standby in my routine.
The original circa 1990s, Chanel Teint Pur Mat, matte foundation in Alabaster .5, round glass bottle; 2000’s Lancome Teint Idole Fresh Wear 18hr, porcelain, in the squeeze tube, and La Prairie brow pencil in Taupe, not Automatique, but the original with the actual pencil, sharpener, and spoolie on the end. Perfect eyebrow pencil!
Catrice Nude Illusion foundation- the most beautiful & comfortable (nondrying) matt foundation with a very skin lie finish. Was really inexpensive too!)
Elizabeth Arden Smoky Eyes Pencil – not the newly formulated waxy twist-up pencil! The old wooden pencil was very smooth & easy to apply with lots of rich color payoff that was smudgeable for about 20 seconds then would last all day.
Estee Lauder Lippty in Sugar Honey – love EL’s lippy formula and this shade was the perfect pearly rose gold shade of warm nude caramel. Went with darned near everything!
Make Up For Ever old eyeshadow formula, DIOR 001 Holographic Pink highlighter, MAC brushes, Suqqu S eyeshadow brush
The Original Clairol Herbal Essense shampoo
Escada Sexy Graffiti Perfume
The Original Gee Your Hair Smells Terrific!
L’Oreal Shine Delice lipstick, specifically shade Coffee Blast.
Guerlain Divinora 480 lipstick
Basically the entire launch line from Urban Decay in the 90s.
OH. and Mac Pleasureflush MSF…
I’d have to say Guerlain Météorites Baby Glow Foundation is the discontinued item I miss the most. It lived up to the name because it made my skin glow! The others include Milani’s Everyday Eyes Eyeshadow Palette which is being phased out. (so I guess technically still around). The Earthy Elements version is stunning for such an affordable palette. Plus, I have to agree with Prescriptives, just an overall good cosmetics line.
Benefit Bathina Body Balm, belif Body Bomba Body Lotion – Ylang Ylang and OPI Vodka & Caviar.
The Melt Muerte palette. It’s the thing I regret not purchasing the most. I really don’t know why I didn’t just buy it when it was available.
I still pine for these products. I have never found any passable substitute’s for them so if you have any ideas, don’t hold back:
Giorgio Armani sheer blush no 2
Guerlain terracotta kohl loose powder in black
Erno Laszlo shake-it in neutral
Mac Nail Lacquer in Anti-Fashion, Mac Nail Lacquer in Sour Cherry, Illamasqua Cream Blush in Zygomatic.
Chanel Ruby Slipper lipstick
It was discontinued over a decade ago so not coming back… absolutely spectacular…
Chanel Elegance blush. The old cream bronzer formula from Chanel
I miss soooooooo much my beloved Chanel pro lumiere foundation and Estee Lauder model mercury highlighter(I am not sure if was discontinued but I can not find it anymore where I live).
