What theme would you love to see a collection for? By what brand?
I’m kind of digging like a garden at midnight–so a lot of the bright, vivid hues of various flowers and blooms but at night, so darker but still full of depth and richness and grounded by lots of earth tones. Pat McGrath, Natasha Denona, or Sydney Grace.
I would really like to see a high end brand (mac springs to mind) do a really nice, classy but still true to the comic/movie, collection from The Crow. None of their standard packaging with a new skin, like custom packaging, dark brooding colors, names including references that actually fit the theme……..I would especially like a dark brown lipstick with a red undertone named “Brandon” but…….thats me and I have an obsession………
Id also like to see Mac doing a theme on Amelie. The colors in that movie…………holy crap would that be an amazing collection, might be too much for mac now that i think of it….
I love the idea of a MAC x Amelie collection! Maybe it could be box of treasured saturated colors, like when she finds the tin with toys in it.
Amelie with Audrey Tatou? (Sp?) great movie. I’ll order your Brandon, despite knowing zero about the Crow.
Burgundy and suedes, by Charlotte Tilbury, Pat McGrath or ABH.
I would really love to see a burgundy palette from Natasha Denona, especially for fall. I know, it’s not original, but it would be my favourite eyeshadow-colors in my favourite formula 🙂
I’d love for any brand to do some nude duochromes – like a palette of nudes with shifts in them.
I would love Natasha Denona to do a unique twist on Autumn with mustardy tones, muted corals, orange and deep purples and olives. And throw in some gorgeous duo and trichromes.
I would love to see more literature themed releases! Like a House on Mango Street face palette, or a collection inspired by Neil Gaiman’s Sandman. I also would love collaborations with Asian artists, like a Kira Imai x MAC collection could be very pretty.
I’d love to see literature-themed releases, too! Earlier this year, as part of the marketing for Mexican Gothic by Silvia Moreno-Garcia, the publisher paired with Besame to determine which of their lip colors the main character (a Mexican socialite in the 1950s) would wear, and I thought that was pretty cute and clever (they also made a set of print-at-home paper dolls with some of the outfits the character is described as wearing in the book).
I think it would be cool if PMG did her own complimentary eye color quads.
My thoughts/ideas tend to be a bit esoteric, and basically would only be considered or produced by Kat von D. Uh, I don’t think so. Done. Over and out. Italian Gialli: she did a Suspiria lip (and spelled it wrong, lol.) And Nosferatu (which she changed the spelling, because nobody got it) German expressionism, but make it more colorful and pleasant, like Emil Nolde saturated splashy flowers. Also, a pretty, wildflower-y light and ethereal palette….it’d have to be from Linda Hallberg..due to the country of inspiration origin…Sweden. Elvira Madigan. The movie about the ostracized military officer and his illicit lady love. You’ve heard the Mozart they used, even if you don’t think you have. One drop dead shocker of an ending; based on a true story, iirc. Probably worth a google or IMDb or a watch.
I’d love to see Sydney Grace do a palette with a blurple metallic, blue-based purple, lavender, and periwinkle tones, as they could actually do them right. A couple duo-chromes thrown in the mix wouldn’t hurt.
That would be so pretty!
Rachel, I’d definitely buy it.
Oooo yes!!!
I’d love to see an emerald themed collection from Pat McGrath. Or old gold and olives.
Because she’s proven that she *can* do it, a purple-centric Mothership with at least one trichrome special shade and NO gold from Mother Pat! I’d love to see a deep Violet shifting to periwinkle and teal. Also, various purple shades like; lilac metallic, rich deep purple matte, dusty lavender matte, a pink shifting pale icy lavender, a pink-purple mid-tone matte, a deep rich blurple metallic, and whatever else would coordinate well with this setup. Perhaps like Naked Ultraviolet, a few peachy or pink-brown shades?
YES!!! I’d be so all over that! I’d love there to be some kind of a silvery/gunmetal special shade in place of gold. Or, since there always has to be a gold, it can be a special shade of pewter with a glittery gold shift…that would be really pretty.
Along those lines, a Pat McGrath Mothership of interesting grey-toned shades would be right up my alley! There’s so much you can do with greys!
And my dream eyeshadow that I’ve yet to see anyone come up with, is a multichrome of gunmetal shifting to magenta and deep violet, maybe with a smattering of cobalt among the shift. I’ve been dreaming of a shade like that for at least 20 years!!!
Love this
I’d like to see Sydney Grace or Clionadh Cosmetics do your multichrome, Susannah!
Rachel and you are on it for my tastes! Blues, purples, wearable and the trichromatic!!! Yes, yes, yes and I know I’m dreaming but what if PMG, Clionadh and Syndey Grace worked on it together ????!!! I’m twirling !!!!! Ha!
I’d love to see a brand do seasonal color palette collections based on each of the 12 color seasons.
I would like to see a Wizard of Oz theme. I know it’s been done already. But I would like to see a Sydney Grace rendition. It would include some multi-chromes. The cover artwork would include Toto. 😉
I would buy that in a second!
This is a bit off an add-on to your comment, but one thing I’d love to see for future collections in some of my favorite high end brands is overall idea that Sydney Grace implemented which is creating lighter and deeper versions of transition shades in their palettes. It would be nice to see how that changes some aspects of the color story, and just be more generally inclusive. I acknowledge this is not necessarily something feasible for every palette, but considering that some high end brands are acknowledging multichromes after indie brands have been doing them for years (looking at you Natasha) I hope this trend will make it into mainstream makeup.
For PMG, I would love to see her do a spin on “Wanderlust”, inspired by sunsets on the beach, clear skies, or even mountain ranges. Most of her palettes in particular are very sultry, and while I love that I’d be interested in seeing how she does something more summery and airy (but isn’t pink or gold).
Following the vein of Midnight Sun, I also think she’d be able to do a unique spin on seasonal transitions – a Spring and Autumn Equinox collection. Though this is basically my way of trying to get more greens in her inspiration, it’s a theme I wish more brands would do in general.
For Natasha Denona, my first thought was a Silver palette to complement the Gold and Bronze, but truthfully I’d really just like to see an “Industrial” palette. Dark to medium toned grays, some slate blues, a few rusty browns would be so fun.
And while she’s not really one to do holiday-themes necessarily, I wouldn’t mind seeing her take on a Lunar New Year themed palette.
Lastly, I’d like to see her do a “Vineyard” palette, inspired by burgundy and deep purples with earthy and bright greens with a few browns thrown in. I believe she’d be able to capture that aesthetic and color story really well.
I’ve been asking ND for a silver winter -themed palette for years. Today, I sort of gave up on that from her (a little as I still hope it will happen from her or Pat) and bought a Makeup Revolution London dupe of Jeffrey Star’s Blue Blood palette. Theirs is called Forever Flawless Ice Eyeshadow palette. I have their Melt Smoke Sessions dupe in this line and it really works very well. Not related, but I would have liked Melt’s but can’t find where I am and tired of duties and shipping costs.
I would seriously love to see an autumn themed palette – but no reds, pinks, blacks, white or oranges. I would like to contain an antique gold, a warmer gold, a copper bronze, a warm peach, warm and cool olive green shades, an olive brown, a soft smokey blue, soft taupe and some mid tone brown cinnamon type of shades – all in a soft shimmer and satin.
The brand would be Sydney Grace.
For lipsticks, I would like a selection of bold shades – in rich burgundy, russet brown/red, cinnamon spice, and shades like the Shisheido’s Lantern Red and Firecracker.
Yes! Flowers!
Orchids, tulips, roses- all sorts of flowers in different climates (tropical, Mediterranean, etc. )
Just thinking about themes inspired by film or art, I like. Disney Fantasia palette (not by color pop), by any quality indie company and an Impressionists series by Sydney Grace ! Monet (Waterlilies), Van Gogh (Starry Night) of course, but also Erin Hanson (Snow Blooms & Crystal Light) and Leonid Afremov ( Way to Home). These four alone could appease the color I so crave in palettes, but not the a rainbow palette like ColourPop or even Coloured Raine ( the latter I do like though) have done.
