What steps do you often skip in your makeup routine but would love to include if you had the time?
The steps I skip are things like primers or base products, which I would normally use in a normal routine, but I skip because I’m testing other products for longevity–not so much time. I have the luxury of time when it comes to playing and applying makeup, LOL! I’ve always been the type of person to get up earlier to get all the steps in, too, so I don’t know if there are really any that I would miss!
1. Tightlining my upper lash line—I only do it about half the time, but it adds so much to my pathetic lashes. It’s one of the steps I skip when I’m short on time in the morning.
2. Setting spray—When I’m in a morning rush, I often completely forget about setting spray.
Any kind of intricate eye look. I have challenging deep-set eyes and small lids to work with and a lot of the time I end up with a failed eye shadow look I have to wipe off. Then I just resort to something easy like the CP Super Shock shadows. I hate deep-set eyes!
I hear you, but eyeshadow is so much fun that I stubbornly keep it on anyway. Glasses hide some of the flaws, at least. What do you usually do with the CP shadows?
I usually will just take a light champagne shade or something similar and just swipe it on with my finger. I find those SS shadows to be much easier to work with. I think it’s because they glide better. Darker powder shadow always seems to get stuck in those deep areas of my eyes! It doesn’t mean I don’t still try though. ?
Cream products. They don’t actually take more time usually but in my head powder is always quicker and easier. If I have time I love a good cream contour, blush and highlighter. I think partly I’m worried I’ll screw it up (because I have several times in the past) so just don’t bother most of the time.
Lipstick and I love lipsticks, weird.
Winged liner and eyeshadow. They’re actually my favorite part of applying makeup, but I view these steps as less essential so if I’m short on time I’ll focus on my skin.
Cream products (can be unforgiving and take time to fix), false lashes, cut creases.
Putting on eyeliner! I have been so loath to actually putting on eyeliner and masacara lately. But I do all the other things-foundation, blush eyeshadow, lipstick. I do have dark lashes so it’s not as weird as it sounds ?
Masks! Both traditional ones and sheet masks. But, for whatever reason I hardly ever get around to using them on a regular basis. And I should. My skin has been very “thirsty” (parched?) this tail end of summer 2019.
Curling my lashes and lining my lips. I’d love to do intricate eyeliner looks more often with my colorful liquid and gel liners.
Brows. I like my natural brows and get them cleaned up regularly, but I know that they could just look a little more polished and defined, but I skip it probably 99 times out of 100.
Lip liner. If I find a “universal” one I like I might remember and take the time, but I just can’t be arsed to buy a matching lip liner for every lipstick shade I have and lipstick is usually the thing I’m doing as I rush out the door.
Eyeliner. Honestly, I just never learned how to do it properly and never factor it in. I might smudge a bit of a darker eyeshadow color in the general vicinity, but I just can’t seem to make proper eyeliner look good or actually make a difference.
You just described me and my eye issue exactly. Even down to wiping off and throwing on a CP super shock! ? At least I’m not alone ?
Sophisticated eye looks, or eyeliner. It took to much time to me, maybe it’s because I dont do it often so I take even more time.
Oddly enough, it’s foundation! By the time I’ve put on serum, moisturizer and sunscreen, I’m just not keen to layer more “stuff” onto my face. When I was using IT CC cream more regularly, it was more like a 2-in-1 of sunscreen and foundation but then I discovered Australian Gold Tinted Facial Sunscreen so I’ve been skipping foundation-y type stuff entirely and while I miss it, I sort of don’t miss it, if that makes sense. Highlighter is probably the other item I skip but would like to use more often.
Tightlining, water line or lower lash line shadows, eye liner and contour/bronzer. f
Eyeshadow, especially if I’m trying a new combo that may take time to “repair” if it doesn’t look right at first
Primer.
I don’t really miss steps in my morning routine because I have it down pat. As I never wear false eyelashes or use eyeliner (which would take a lot of time), I don’t have a lot of fussiness to get through.
Eyeshadow, foundation, and blush/bronzer.
My eyeshadow use has really fallen off in the past couple years as I’ve grown tired of trying to combat my eyes watering and ruining everything. In a feedback loop, lack of practice has made applying eyeshadow all the more difficult, and even less likely to happen.
Foundation is something I have to prep my skin very thoroughly for, and you know who’s too lazy for a proper skincare routine? Me. So my skin usually ends up looking better without it, plus trying to mix and match my shade is annoying.
Lastly, bronzer and blush aren’t really necessary when I’m bare-faced, as my skin already has plenty of flush and sun damage ha ha. So I just stick to highlighting.
Full on eye shadow looks – I’d love to experiment, but I’m down to eye liner, lipstick and mascara as it saves time and at least I feel I’ve made an effort.
Eyeliner, I thightline instead as I find it a lot faster. Blush and highlighter. Lipstick, I use a gloss instead, also a lot faster to apply, I think.
I hardly ever use concealer anymore as it makes my eyes look about 300 years older than they are, well, no the eyes themselves, but the lower lid, I much rather have a bit of darkness than 73 billion lines under the eyes. Lots of time saved not trying to make the concealer look OK just to go and wash it away and start over with creams and sunscreens.
