What retailer has the best online shopping experience?

Chanel is pretty good–their website is fast, easy to navigate, and they have a good amount of info about products on their site without too many embellishments. They ship incredibly quickly (often the same day I’ve ordered), arrives quickly (2-4 days), and beautifully packaged (sturdy, reusable Chanel-branded white and black box).

Pretty much the only place I shop online is Sephora and only when I’ve got NO choice. And it’s been a pretty positive experience (I’ve also ordered from MAC once or twice – same situation/no choice if I wanted a particular product – and it’s been okay as well). I just prefer to shop in person!

Since the pandemic I’ve just completely lowered my expectations with ordering online and I have really not paid much attention to how long things take to arrive. I just resign myself to things getting here when they get here. And in other ways I’ve really never had much of an issue except with the Fenty website. Both times I’ve ordered they’ve sent me the wrong order. Not just messed up my order like giving me a wrong item or forgetting an item, literally sent me someone else’s order. Twice. They also wanted me to return the wrong items but after expressing that I would not enjoy going to the post office(this was in the early days of Covid) they told me to keep the items and they would send out my correct order at no extra charge. I would hope it would be at no extra charge.

For me it’s the Paula’s Choice website. I like how minimalist is, easy to navigate, while providing more than enough information for every products.
No frills, no videos or music suddenly popping up, no annoying flash players.
Customer service is very responsive and informative.
Shipments are fast and packaging is fully recyclable, with no additional useless plastic bags.

I have made online orders from a whole bunch of beauty retailers and I haven’t had a bad experience. This is mainly because the items I want aren’t sold here in Aus or due to the pandemic and all shops were closed.
I have ordered from Beautylish, Beauty Bay, Charlotte Tilbury, Sydney Grace, ColourPop, PMG Labs and all these have had fairly low cost internationally shipping rates and everything has pretty much arrived when they said it would. Camera Ready is another online rretailer I have ordered from – but their shipping rates were fairly steep.

Beautylish is always a pleasure to shop at. Sephora usually is pretty good, I had an issue with one product that came broken twice and they wouldn’t ship it again. I don’t know why they wouldn’t wrap it better so that it wouldn’t break, it was in the peak of the pandemic and I wasn’t vaccinated, it would have been nice to be able to have the product.

Colourpop has a stable website and fast shipping, at least for me (I’m in the same state so….). I also really like their packaging — it feels luxurious and seems to protect the products well. I’ve had mixed experiences with Ulta and MAC; they can be great but sometimes slower or less well packaged. Ulta has shipped me one broken palette due to bad packaging but they replaced it quickly. They’re also less stable on Safari, and I sometimes have to switch to Google Chrome to finish putting together an order. I still prefer to shop online with them, due to being able to stack sales + coupons + free goody bags. Sephora on the other hand, is appallingly slow. They barely offer any incentives, even on sale days, and I have literally ordered a package and left on vacation for a week in the full and certain knowledge that it would not have arrived by the time I returned (I’ve never been wrong). I almost always use pickup for Sephora orders, because it’s easier to drive 45 minutes out of my way to get something than wait for their items to arrive. They also often have more stock available near me than online. I’d do without them entirely but they carry my favorite foundations.

Sephora, Beautylish, and ColourPop. Sephora and ColourPop are very precise with their shipping dates. Beautylish can sometimes take a day or two longer than the estimated arrival date, but I love that the packers sign the inside of the box lid. I’ve actually cut the signatures off the boxes of all 3 Beautylish orders I’ve placed!

I usually buy from Nordstrom. The one time I had an issue with not receiving a package they took care of it right away. Their customer service has been great.

Many have said Beautylish and I agree. I think Colour Pop are great actually. They are fast, and I’m in the EU.
Pat McGrath sometime take forever to get orders over the Atlantic. Last time I had even forgotten I bought anything, it took that long.
Our local Sephora has a website that throws me out after I click on something and then try to return to the first side. It gladly claims I don’t have access to the site, like what, it’s an on line retail site!
So, went from best to worst. But now I really want to order something, anything from Chanel! 😉

My favorite packing comes from Beautylish, Sydney Grace, and PML. I’ve also received my orders in a timely manner as stated from all three. I know others have had bad experiences with PML, but I’ve been blessed and had no problems. My worst would be Sephora which is hit or miss for delivery and packing has been terrible lately. Ulta delivery is good, but packing is steadily going downhill. I’m really trying to avoid Sephora. I like MUFE which is sold there, but I’ve bought directly from the brand and had good service. Sephora really offers no incentive to remain a customer. From everyone’s praise of Chanel, I’ll be trying them next.

I’ve always had great experiences with ColourPop; the care they put into packaging is great and it is always fast. I had a super shock shadow arrive broken once (it was a gift otherwise I wouldn’t have minded) and they literally sent out a replacement the same day. I’ve had good luck with Sephora and Target also.
