Cream to powder hybrid products as in ColourPop! I couldn’t imagine something like that ever working in practice and holding up all day, but they actually do!

*Drugstore or bargain lippies (Maybelline, NYX Voltage, Colour Pop. Revlon Ultra HD Gloss) have really impressed me to the point that it’s hard to justify buying a HE lippie
*I never really cared for highlighters, but now I’m mixing it into foundation and dotting it on my cheeks for a nice glow
*I never though I would look good with purple lipstick/blush, but now I have a whole drawer full!

Foundation in general and beauty sponges. There were so many young beautiful people running around with full covereage foundation on their nice skin – myself included. It’s cool if that’s your thing, but I thought, “Why not let my natural skin shine for all it is?” and I’ve since stopped wearing full coverage foundation completely. I switched to a light coverage tinted moisturizer applied with the RT beauty sponge instead of a brush. I want my youthful skin to shine. Even though I have acne I just spot cover my marks and scars with cream to powder concealer.

Cream eye shadows- I didn’t used to like them at all. Probably because I had never used quality ones and never thought of using different shades together. Also, on the liquid lipsticks- I was in this period of almost forcing myself to like them because they were popular and everyone else seem to like them. I just can’t seem to wear them for more than a few hours. So, I have some. I won’t be buying anymore. I wear the one I have to the mall if I am going on a few errands of something like that. I can honestly see them getting passed on. I love the look. It’s just not for me. I have too many other lipsticks to give attention to!

bronzer!!! being so fair, it can be hard to find a good bronzer that isn’t super dark, and I had some, but I was always afraid it would look muddy or dark. but lately, I’ve been using them a lot and they give a nice sun-kissed look!

Brow pencils, I’d never used one until this year when a Burberry SA used their brow pencil to fill in my brows and I loved it so I bought it on the spot and it really is a great product and so easy to use!

I agree. All I use to buy was those really sheen, natural lipsticks with the glossy finish. Now all I can tolerate is a matte lip. The last year I haven’t even touched a lipstick or purchased a lipstick unless it was matte.

The only thing I can think of is Philosphy’s Purity Made Simple gel cleanser. I like the product okay (though it doesn’t remove eye makeup half as well as they lead you to believe) but the packaging is THE WORST and makes it so unpleasant to use. I’ve decanted into a small plastic bottle but even that isn’t great as the gel is rather thick. Just really dumb packaging and enough to put me off the product. Ole Henriksen’s cleansing gel is a similar consistency but it’s in a bottle you store upright and which is easy to squeeze along the side. That’s what Philosophy needs for this stuff.

I haven’t really changed my mind about any product in the last year. The most recent change occurred a few years ago, and that was with blush. After not wearing it for about 20 years, I figured out what works for me. I had been using only the shades that came with palettes/sets, and none looked “right”, and I figured since these were among the most popular shades in a given brand, it must be me, and it wasn’t a product that worked. However, once I figured out what works, I now own 20+, and use most on a regular basis.

I’m also starting to appreciate lipstick again. There was a time it dominated my stash, and I wouldn’t leave home without any, but I somehow shifted my interest to eyeshadow, and was perfectly content with having 3-4 lip products in regular rotation.

i’ve come a long way since last year… i didn’t wear a lot of makeup. now i love it, it’s about the possibility of experimenting with different looks, shades and products. fascinating.

i’ve changed my mind on eyebrows… i don’t know how i lived without my eyebrows trimmed, filled in and all that. the difference a good pair of eyebrows can make

highlighter, also a good plus to your makeup look, concealer (i know, but i really didn’t used anything more than foundation, eyeliner and blush), lip liners, and the list can go on.

last but not least cream eyeshadows, they are helpful when you’re in a rush. maybelline on and on bronze? YES. and they’re good as a primer (another thing i think is really helpful to bring out some tricky shades)

Eye shadow palettes. I used to panic when I saw all the color choices and I still get a little overwhelmed when I am trying to create a look on my own but I have discovered that I learn so much from playing with palettes. Now I think they are worthwhile just for the educational aspect!

Kind of the opposite of everyone’s remarks in that they now like something they hadn’t liked before — I no longer like something I used to love: Maybelline’s Color Tattoos. At one point, I had to have ’em all (I managed to do that, too) but now I’ve been going through them and tossing (I’m a hypochondriac about expiration dates of products, especially near my eyes). For the most part, I’m not liking them anymore. At least they were cheap!

For the better:

*I’d also say liquid lipsticks. I always thought, “Why bother?” But after trying some, I like them for certain looks or situations.

*Maybelline Color Tattoos – I still don’t love them, but I’ve found some with better textures that work great as bases. Some of the more creamy, metallic ones actually make really good lid shades for me. The tips Temptalia’s readers gave me for application methods and colors to try get ALL the credit for that.

*Non-powdered foundations and BB Creams — I’m finding better color matches and formulas that don’t oxidize, and formulas that work better with my oily skin. (Most drugstore brands still suck for me, though.)

*Contours and bronzers — I still don’t use them a lot, and it’s still hard to find shades that work on me, but I am using them. I just had to find what and how much worked for me.

*Face primers — I only used to use them occasionally. The last few months I’ve been trying some different kinds, and now I wear one almost every day. There are so many options now.

For the worse: Stila in general — they’ve started boring me, and I think their quality isn’t as good as it used to be. Tarte palettes — they’re getting really mediocre and repetitive. I don’t mind some talc in products, but it seems to me like they’re using too much, or not formulating them correctly with the other ingredients: It seems their colors are getting less intense and are patchier.

Giorgio Armani beauty products – Everything I’ve tried from it/them so far, I’ve loved. Lasting Silk UV is now my go to foundation because of the flawless finish and it really does last all day. I love the fluid sheers, eye tints and lip maestros!

Definitely cream blush, wouldn’t go near them! But now I only use them, I have dry skin so they are a Godsend….no cakiness! Never use powder blush anymore

Face oils – I never thought I would say this but passionfruit oil has made a big difference in how I see oils for skincare.
Bronzers – I’m so fair and have never been into them, but these past few months i’m starting to use them more.
Highlighters – I’ve always collected them, now I love to use them!

I was dead set on KVD shade and light eye being my next palette purchase. I love the colors, I really do. The burnt sienna/red draws me to it! Ever since I got the tartelette palette, I’ve loved mattes so I knew I’d love it for that reason. I recently purchased the UD Naked Smoky and love it, truly truly love it. Now when I look at the S&L eye, I like the colors but I just can’t see purchasing it.

Liquid eye liner. I used to have a dickens of a time applying it either via by brush or felt tip. A few weeks ago, I was watching a video tutorial on how to apply it EVENLY on both sides, so now I’m like “damn, that’s so easy! That’s what I’ve been doing wrong all this time”! So now now, I use a felt tip eyeliner and I’m not a pro, but it’s leaps and bounds better than before.

Red and bold coral lipsticks and nail polishes.
Fuchsia and purple lipsticks.
Brown lipstick.
Black nail polish.
All these were a forbidden area for me. Now I can’t have enough of them!

The most interesting thing about this question is the different interpretations about the question from all different types of people. From a psychological standpoint it clearly differentiates the glass half full from the glass half empty people. When I read the question I immediately thought it was asking one particular thing and that was, “What product or products did I used to like that I don’t care for any longer?” Then I went to read the responses and I noticed that most people answered in the affirmative in direct opposition to my way of thinking (glass half full). They answered about how new products have really caught their eye or converted them in some fashion. I was so surprised. In conclusion, I’m thinking that most beauty bloggers/hobbiests are probably extroverts/positive people. What a fascinating conversation. I would like to do a study.

Brow products: being a redhead I used t think that my brows should look more natural (aka: transparent). Now I’m loving wearing them a bit more defined.

Highlighters: I used to think that it was something to celebrities (hi, JLo!) to wear LOL. Now, I’m so loving that fresh glow look.

Liquid lipsticks – I liked them at first, but now I hate the idea of wearing something that will come off in a messy way if I eat something greasy. I also like staining my lips lightly with lipstick, which is impossible to do with liquid lipstick.

Neutral eyeshadows – I didn’t think I’d ever like them, but apparently I can’t have enough shades of brown, I’m obsessed!

Cool toned eyeshadows – I like them in theory, but warm colors look much more flattering on me.
