What products do you reach for when you want a more colorful look?

If I just want BOOM! color, then I’ll reach for eyeshadow singles, likely from Sydney Grace, Clionadh, or Terra Moons, for eye makeup. If I want to do a more colorful cheek (say a duochrome with a green shfit), then I might opt for Pat McGrath Bronze Seduction on the eyes instead. No go-to lip product since it gets dictated by the types of color and intensity of them!

I don’t do colorful cheeks or lips. But if I want colorful eye makeup, I reach for singles from JD Glow, MAC, Sydney Grace or I pull out my ABH Riviera, Prism or Norvina palette. My Give Me Glow Vintage Rose and Pat McGrath Divine Rose 2 are pretty colorful as well! I don’t own any true rainbow palettes!

I don’t do outrageously colourful looks but when I want to inject a bit of colour interest into my “comfort zone” neutral eye looks, I’ll reach for that great oldie MAC Birds & Berries (or some similar UD teal/blue shadows) on the outer lid or in the deep crease, or one of the colourful Sephora liners I have (shades like Waterfall, T-Rex, Fairytale, Surfer Babe (many of these are, sadly, discontinued, I think) under my lower lashes.

So much of my collection is colorful makeup, especially eyeshadows and lipsticks, and I try to rotate through it all. Though this last year I haven’t been wearing much makeup of any kind Indie brands have been better with coming out with colorful eyeshadow singles and palettes.

Likely Beauty’s Clown and Fairy Blush Palettes are fun to play with, as are Sammeal blushes (from YesStyle). Kaleidos duo- and multi- chrome highlighters. L.A. Girl Shockwave Eyeliners, UD 24/7 Glide-on Eye Pencils, and Lethal Cosmetics neon gel pot eyeliners.

The most adventurous I get is adding some Dahlia or Pénombre to a look, when I’m using the Viseart Neutral Mattes Milieu palette. I usually buy my daughter all the colorful palettes because she does tik tok videos of her cosplay makeup, but I have been thinking about buying the NikkieTutorials x BEAUTY BAY Pressed Pigment Palette, which has some neutral and some colorful shadows. From what I know of her, I like Nikkie. The whole Too Faced thing was really unfortunate, and it seems like this collab is better for her. Has anyone tried her Beauty Bay palette? Now that I found this site, I don’t think I can buy any makeup that Christine hasn’t reviewed!

I have quite a variety of neutrals, rose gold and colourful eye palettes to choose from. When I want to indulge in a colourful look – that to me means a colourful eye look and bright lipstick, as I like things in balance. I never do a colourful cheek.
The eye palettes I reach for would be my Pixi Beauty Reflex Light palette for bronzes, Dior’s Bonne Etoile and Lancome’s Jade Fever for greens/teals, Maybelline’s Burgundy Bar for burgundy shades (in addition to a neutral background). I use PMG’s Sublime Mini and Lapis Luxury for the pop of blue colour and UD’s Damaged for the pop of green.
Then I have my olive and gold shades – CT’s The Rebel 2020, Olive and Bronze – Pixi Beauty and Tisse D’Automne’s olive plus bareMinerals Soft and Smokey with the gorgeous peach shade combined with soft green (Midnight Luminance). Lots to choose from.

For a bright lipstick – CP’s Foolish, Gallop; MAC’s Chili or a burgundy tone of Slow Dance, Brick etc.

I go for the eyes! No questions there! And when I do it can be anything, just about any brand. Those that come to mind, but I don’t limit myself to them are : Urban Decay, NYX, Kat Von D (old), Natasha Denona, KIKO, MUFE, or PMG. Rare that I sport a colorful cheek, and if so the most colorful will be with an old Fashion Fair ruddy-red blush (name worn-off 😉 ), a Le Femme fuchsia blush called Hawaiian Orchid, or a soft berry-looking one by Alma Pure called Black Raspberry (my preference of the three because it’s not as pigmented). As for the lips, Fenty or Kat Von D (old) would be my colorful lip and red, purple or orange would be the colors, as I rarely wear a red lipstick or colorful lipstick except for events or summertime fun with an outfit.

If I want to punch up a look a bit, I’ll wear a brighter blush. I only wear neutral eyeshadow and red lipstick, so there’s not much room for extra color. 🙂 A bright orange, coral, or red blush normally does the trick.

Melt Cosmetics’s Radioactive palette. I wear rich metallic shimmers on the regular easily. But when I think “color” I think neon and the pink and orange shades in that palette are stunning.
