This is going to sound really lame, but i have about four or fiv backups of Blistex Medicated Lip Ointment. It is the only thing that will bring my lips back to life when I don’t reapply lip balm often enough and it isn’t sold in Colombia, so I stock up everytime I’m in the US.
Lush’s Celestial moisturizer. I like to buy lots of moisturizers, trying different kids, but I always have this on hand.
MAC Hibiscus – I bought 5 of them, I love it because it’s a summer red that works perfect for my skin tone.
I never buy back up until they discontinued Cover Girl Lash Blast luxe. I bought the 2 remaining I managed to find.
Mac Stereo Rose MSF. I think I have 5 of them.

Rock & Republic bronzer in Villa & Private Jet (because this cosmetic line is discontinued i bought as many as i can and have given some away as gifts I have one of each now). Bare Escentuals mineral veil(1) and foundation(2). urban decay all nighter setting spray(1 travel size).

The only back up I’ve bought is the Clinique line smoothing concealer. Tbh, I hate buying backups 😛 I know what the item is like and can’t get excited over it like something I’ve never tried before 😛

Jack Black lip balm – I keep misplacing them, so I have about seven or eight at this point, and I still can’t find the one that was on my desk :/ Other than that, I don’t really buy backups but I will replace my Rouge G lippies if anything happens to them.
I have two Mac Stereo rose msf’s and two Mac sharkskin shadesticks, even though i hardly use them…

Only Marie-Galante from NARS, many have problems applying it, I hope it won’t be discontinued ! Otherwise, nothing at all I never do back-up ( either make-up or computer ! ), it would be impossible with high end brands, so no regret !
I never buy backup cosmetic products because I love the novelty associated with new releases. I do buy loads of lip balm, though; specifically Jack Black.
Bought a couple cream foundations since my color was discontinued (Maybelline Dream Matte Mousse), and I’m always buying extra XXL Extensions mascara, just because a) brown black was discontinued, so if I see it, I’ll snag it and b) it’s my HG mascara, so I always want one hanging around the instant I finish up the last one.

U.D. Naked Palette…the one with the duo pencil…..I have 7 of them. Coming in second place is Elizabeth Arden lip-stick kinda balm. I have 5-6 of them, some are free gift. In third place, is U.D. 15th Anniversary Palette. I have no regrets buying/ acquiring so many…given that U.D. is going to sell in China. Selling in China doesnt bother me…but the their flip-flop committments not to test on animals and their likelihood to manufacture their products in China will deter me from buying any makeup made in China.

No, I havent even made a dent on any of the colors in the original Naked Palette and at one point, I was using it everyday. I was going to sell the remainder on eBay because of the discontinuation of the duo pencil it came with it. But I think I am going to keep them and used them until I die. I came to Urban Decay very late in my life …only two years ago….and found the colors/ staying power really work well on my skintone and monolid eyes….My last favorite was Cle de Peau but they of course discontinued the original shadow collections. I could buy one entire UD palette for only one color from Cle de Peau. Back in those days, an entire Palette did not existed…nor did Sephora…

Christine, have you really ever finished I product? I’ve never in my entire life finished a product. I’ll lose it before I finish it. I imagine that when you have as many products as you do you’re always using different things so it’s impossible to use up any one product.

It’s harder for me to finish something *now* compared to before. I don’t really buy backups any more as a rule, but when they discontinued Dragon, I had to!

Other than lip balms, I rarely stock up on anything unless it’s basics that I keep in every purse/bag/home drawer/etc. (mascara, concealer, blush, etc.), but after watching my favorite cream blush go off the market, I’ve wised up a little. Generally, I don’t mind losing out too much on an item in terms of color or hue, since for the most part something will eventually pop up simiar enough to replace it. It’s when they change a formula that I rue the loss of a product.
I have back ups of my favorite hand cream of all time: L’Occtaine Honey Shea Butter only because it’s limited edition. I called L’Occtaine and asked if they will make this scent permanent and they said, “No.” I bought 10 tubes on Sephora.com.
No makeup item backups because I never really finish them. The only thing I do really finish are brow products and skin care.

@JEN i am the same as you i dont have any make up backups yet because i dont really finish them but there are a few that will need to be replaced in due course as i use them all the time
Fluidlines.. I have 2 backups of Avenue and Wholesome and backups of viva glam Cyndi lippies and lipglasses. Love that colour.

I bought backup of MAC Shimmermoss after they discontinued it. I really love the shade and I wish they had just discontinued a less stellar neutral color instead of this.

I have a backup of Mac’s A Wish Come True eye shadow. And I wish I got a backup of their Gem of Roses lipstick! It’s one of my favorite shades.

I usually have back up for my mascara, Loreal Telescopic Mascara, there are usually nice discounts in drugstores, so when I see a discount for this one, I buy it immediately because it is ridiculously pricey here in Turkey (I don’t know the price in the States but here it’s around 25-30 dollars!) Also, I bought backups for one of Avon’s lipstick series, the colors were gorgeous!! Now, they are discontinued!
Clinique´s Superbalm Moisturizing Gloss – I loooooove that stuff! I have purchased at least five of them and I guess I will buy more 🙂 ! When MAC released Pearlglide Eyeliners in their 2010 Holiday Collection, I got one backup of Black Line because it was LE then and I panicked! Once I also got two backups of Maybelline The Falsies Mascara because I found it on sale.
I have made repurchases of many products, but I have never backed up anything. Something must be wrong with me :). I had to think long and hard to even cite a few products that I might have been compelled to backup. I honestly love trying new shades & textures.
I wish I had a backup of Dragon! My tube is almost empty and I don’t know what I’m going to do 🙁
