I always opt for a smoky gold look! I love using antique golds and pairing those with red lips.

I should probably get on this whole “owning a Little Black Dress” bandwagon =P

I’d probably wear a cool neutral eye with a bronze, dark cool coral or rust lip. It’d give me an excuse to wear Hermetic =D

I have recently boughten 2 Little Black Dresses within the last two weeks, which is nice because I never have any formal attire or anything on hand for special events until last minute. I would stick with my go to look. Winged liner, mascara/lashes, and a bold lip such as MAC’s Rebel, or Heartless.

I would wear naked pigment on the lid. Malt e/s on the crease and a little bit of mulch is the outter v. Goes for goes prolong wear lipstick.

I usually go with a neutral eye just a same skintone color on eyes to even my eyelid out take a matte brown put it on the crease and hightlight with a shimmery white-beigey color and also apply that on the inner corner then take a black liner, line my upper lid and wing it, use a bronzer as blush and a red lip. I love love love this look i recommend it to anyone it will make u look VERY stunning! 🙂

A brown smokey eye with a gold/bronze shimmer in the middle of the lid!

For cheeks, a neutral matte shade such as NARS Blush in Zen.

For lips, RED. (of course!)

If I’m wearing the LBD in the winter I go for pale skin and a really neutral eye with winged out black liner and a red lip. If I’m wearing the LBD in the summer I wear a dark smokey eye and a neutral pink lip ie; Nars lip lacquer in Babydoll

I usually just smudge liner across my lashes (upper and lower) and set it with some matte black, blend that out a lot and then use tooooons of mascara and wear that with a matte red lip.

But the other night I wore this really frilly black dress and went for a lovely cat eye (using gel liner), nothing else on the lid and a medium pink lip. It looks really cute. And for that look I used individual lashes.

Almost all the time I use it with a Smokey eye, with black eyeshadow, and red lipstick. If the occasion calls for something more discrete, a thick eyeliner and pink lipgloss (with frost finish.

I almost always use these two looks when I wear an LBD – a khaki/green smokey eye and peach lip or red lips, contoured eye w/ lots and lots of black eyeliner and mascara and full faux lashes.

I love

(a) grey/black/dark blue/dark green smoky eyes with nude glossy lips
(b) neat winged liner and matte red lips
(c) very subtle liner, loads of mascara, and very subtly lined eyes for daytime.

Christine, have you tried Dermalogica’s multivitamin recovery mask? I’m fairly certain you’d love it!

Mar Avatar

I mostly pair it with a classic old movie star look:

A good foundation
Neat brows
Neutral shadow
Black liquid liner
Lots of black mascara and maybe some falsies
A sheer, light blush
Either pale or red lips

I would do one really dramatic feature. Either a smokey eye, bold lip, or heavily contoured cheeks, but always big hair. Lots of back-combing, Cheryl Cole inspired.

amelia Avatar

simple eyes, just lined in black liquid eyeliner with lots of mascara, with BOLD red, orange or fuschia matte lips. and i bit of liquid luminizer on the cheekbones, cupid’s bow, browbone.

Marcela Avatar

dramatic, smokey, shimmery eyes in purples or blues… like Mac Nocturnelle or Mac Deep Truth over Blacktrack paint pot… and shimmery glossy lips with no color.

I definitely agree with you. I really like to have something that’s smoked out to feel sassy! Right now I’m really loving purple smokey eyes so I’d probably wear that maybe with a a lighter more pink berry shade.

Christine, what colors do you use on your eyes to achieve this look?

Ada Avatar

i got with a more natural eyelook with sutble contouring and then a bright or nude lip depending on the colour of my shoes. If i wear a bold shoe then i go with nude lip or vice versa

Lee Avatar

Usually a lightly contoured taupe eye with winged black eyeliner on the upper lashes only and perfect eye brows. Light pink cheeks and in lieu of red, I’ll usually do an intense, dark pink.

Linnea Avatar

Definitely do a smokey eye, but with browns and reds to bring out my eyes. Usually just go with a gloss but maybe for this Holiday season I’ll move to reds.

CeeBee Avatar

Same as you Christine – a shimmery antique gold eye with a lashings of black liner (Blackline pearlglide looks fabulous!) soft beige blush and matte red lips for me.

I wore my favorite LBD to the theater on Saturday night. I tried out a silvery-purple smokey eye (thanks largely to MAC’s 6 Beauties Play It Cool palette and Black Swan pearlglide), Oh So Fair beauty powder and a nude lip (Cover Girl Nude Shine – a drugstore buy but my go-to nude shade). Normally I’d opt for sky-high heels, but I had to go with sparkly flats since I’d been walking around New York all day.

I like to pair numerous combination with a Little Black Dress. Last week, I wore a sexy black dress. I wore MAC’s Girl About Town Lipstick with Gimme That Lipglass on top. I wore a purple smokey eye with a hint of teal blue (Jewel Blue) in the crease. I used MAC’s Nocturnelle on the lid and I highlighted the brow with Knight Divine. I made sure that I blended properly. I got many compliments with this look.

I usually wear 3 looks and haven’t been over them yet.

1. Wearable satin silver+grey smokey eyes – golden/copper highlighter-soft pink/peach blush – cream peachy nude lips- matte complexion
2. Shimmery silver eyes – rosy pink highlighter – soft pink blush – berry pink lips – matte complexion (in the fall)
3. Satin neutral eyes – beige/copper highlighter – no blush – matte red lips (I love Laura Mercier Scarlet- thanks to Christine)- matte complexion

I wear look #1 to professional events while the other two for a fun night out or special occasions.

FLAWLESS skin, innocent eyes with loads of mascara (extra curled mascara), seriously pouty glossy defined lips! (maybe a touch of champagney highlighting)
