We appreciate enthusiasm for new releases but ask readers to please hold questions regarding if/when a review will be posted as we can't commit to or guarantee product reviews. We don't want to set expectations and then disappoint readers as even products that are swatched don't always end up being reviewed due to time constraints and changes in priorities! Thank you for understanding!

Gorgeous color, beautiful texture, and luxurious packaging.
I would say it’s a 3 prong fork:
– the product needs to have a very good formula or has a good formula reputation if i’ve never tried it before.
– it needs to be a colour or product that I can see myself getting good use out of so either it’s a nude I adore or a blush that goes with literally everything
– finally, the packaging has got to give me butterflies aka I feel like the Queen of Sheba when I get it out. Ok maybe not the queen but it feels like I can see where some of my money went, y’know.
The only flaw with my 3 prong fork is that often, it’s such a beautiful & expensive product that I tend to only get it out for special occasions. Like it’s too luxe for the everyday.
I may need a 4 prong fork.
I like your answer and I agree completely!
As far as cosmetics go the only thing that comes to mind is my LaMer Soft Fluid foundation….It is the only foundation that I would repurchase…it’s that good…….I’ve quit spending excess cash on lipsticks…high end ones are just not that different than so many others to warrant spending $50+ on. Some skin care I do spend more on and re-purchase but maybe I’m just hoping they do what they advertise, but $150 and more for creams makes me hesitate..there are no miracles. Eyeshadows I do seem to gravitate towards high end as the formulas seem smoother and better blending (sometimes!)
Damn near PERFECT quality, lasting power, uniqueness of shades, and the whole shabang!
Same – I don’t mind paying luxury prices but the product itself needs to justify it, not just the packaging or brand name. I never understand ppl that buy any product, regardless of price, just for the packaging; pretty packaging is great but I can’t wear it on my face.
Having purchased a couple of high end beauty products – all eyeshadow palettes, some have been worth it and some not – I would say that it would have to be the kind of colours that I favour, receive an excellent review from you Christine – in terms of its pigmentation, longevity and finish.
It would have to be accessible to me, with reasonable international shipping rates (hopefully I could get it on sale) and be one I am prepared to use on a weekly basis.
I don’t look into luxury, it’s not my vibe. But from a high-end product I expect flawless performance (off course, based on it’s claim), a formula that has a lot of research behind, sturdy packaging (look and work great as long as I use the product) and to come with excellent costumer service.
I will purchase a luxury product if it has an amazing formula, is the perfect shade match (foundation) or if it is a color that is unique to my collection (blush, eyeshadow). I also appreciate gorgeous packaging, such as the blushes, bronzers and lipsticks by Gucci.
Given how few luxury and high-end products I have ever purchased (where’s the line there, anyway? I could argue that I don’t actually own anything in the former category…by another definition, every product I own is a luxury! ha ha), I’d say it’s a pretty high bar!
Absolute requirements: there can’t be a mid-range or low-end dupe/suitable alternative, and it can’t contain animal-derived ingredients.
Ideally: the packaging should reflect the price, by using less unsustainable materials—which are expensive! (As an aside…frankly, though, the very concept of “luxury” is usually at odds with sustainability, not to mention the usual status symbols of heavier, more substantial packaging; “natural” ingredients, which require more resources to produce; etc.)
In a different universe, if I were the kind of person with discerning tastes, an unlimited budget, and no qualms with consumerism, I would absolutely indulge in products whose sensorial experiences gave me joy, from the presentation to the use of the actual formula (and the results).
