What kind of wear and longevity do you look for in an eyeshadow? What's most/least important?

I like an eyeshadow that lasts for 8-9 hours quite well on its own, so then I can use primer to get to 10-12 hours without much issue. As long as it fades more evenly without too much fallout or creasing, I’m good.

I like eyeshadow to last at least 10 hours. To achieve this, I use either NYX Proof It Waterproof Eyeshadow Primer or a MAC Paint Pot as a primer, so it is not necessary for a powder shadow alone to last that long, as I never put powder shadow on an unprimed eye. As long as the powder eyeshadow goes on smoothly and blends easily, I’m happy.

No fallout, particularly the sort of glitter fallout that goes on throughout the day rather than solely when it’s being applied. I always wear primer (it’s getting harder and harder to get hold of good ones) so my shadows generally last 12+ hours but I do like a long wearing shadow.

How long have you got???? For the longest time, UDPP was my go-to, followed by Too Faced and one from Bare Minerals. UDPP has been reformulated AND repackaged (in the worst combination of all their past packaging iterations), same with Too Faced and I think Bare Minerals isn’t even around any more. I’m mostly using NARS (always sold out at Sephora), Milani and MAC (which I love but I don’t like the wide opening on the tube). MAC Painterly is something I’ll use on days when I don’t need something that wears like iron.

Most important: No creasing, flaking, and very good to great pigmentation.
Least important: Texture (if it does has the most important qualities I mentioned), except for glitter. Not my thing.
Wear: At least most of the day (5-6 hours) and blendable (no muddying up when I blend) – don’t know if being blendable is a “wear” quality, but it’s an important quality that I really have to deal with, but sometimes happens.

First of all, it has to be the kinds of shade colours that I would wear and what’s important to me is the finish – shimmery, satin, metallic and not matte or glittery.
I want the eyeshadws to last all day and be rated well for pigmentation from this blog.
Another factor that is important to me is that there is betwen 6-15 shades in the palette – I really don’t like those monster palettes of 30+ shades.

I love a long lasting shadow! If it lasts until bedtime, I love it. Most of my shadows start fading by the time I’m of work. I would love to hear how others get their shadows to last

I have found the Chanel Ombre première lacque liquid eyeshadows to be the most long lasting I have ever tried. If I know my eyeshadow has to last from morning until late in the night, I usually rely on one of these over my mobile lid and they will not budge. These get mixed reviews, though. I just dab one shade over the mobile lid over a primer, one eye at a time, but use powder shadows in the crease and outer corner for ease of blending. That’s how I notice the difference: the powder shadows will fade, but the liquid eyeshadow does not and also does not crease, which is my biggest challenge normally.

Back in the day, eyeshadows went on and STAYED on (I’m showing my age now, lol) and that’s how I expect them to perform today; primer is something used as preparation to paint walls as far as I’m concerned. It makes me wonder how many of today’s products are simply gimmicks to get us to part with our hard earned cash ….

I have hooded, oily eyelids so resistance to creasing is super important. I always use a primer, lately MAC 24-hour extend eye base. The old Lumene eyeshadow base was the best for longevity but the current version is meh. The eyeshadow should to last at least 10 hours with primer but preferably until I remove it late in the evening.
