I’m not wearing lipstick with masking. I live for colourless lip balm.
I’m barely wearing anything except balm, mostly Laneige, in pear.
In some cases I’ll use a nude liner all over then a balm that has a pretty sheer wash of colour. No one is seeing my lips for the most part, so no use in going there.
I reach most often for my Fenty Slip Shine in Makeout Break or Quartz Candy.
Lip stains have been *everything* to me this spring.
Wearing a mask, my most reliable options are matte liquid lipsticks and lip stains, and matte liquid lipsticks don’t go with my spring/summer aesthetic this year.
I’m leaning so heavily on my old discontinued drugstore balm stains, I don’t know what I’ll do without them!
I’ve been loving a slightly sheered out, balmy lip! The YSL lipstick sale was good to me, but I’ve also been using the classic Revlon lustrous lips and Pat McGrath’s luxetrance. All in varying degrees of bright pink!
I’ve been pretty much living on lip balm – Burt’s Bees orange pistachio lip butter and Bite evening lip mask (the one in the pot they didn’t ruin, not the stuff in the tube they reformulated and ruined).
However, I did order a BUNCH of the BECCA lipsticks and have been testing them out every now and again and they are lovely and creamy and hopefully now that I will be a lot less busy and not tied to my computer 20 hours a day, I will start wearing them in earnest.
For times when I do need to wear a mask though and want color, I’ve been using liquid mattes, but in whipped formulas that aren’t as drying. I’ve been primarily using the Maybelline Superstay Matte Ink which is very close to unmoveable with good staying power and to a lesser extent the Rare Beauty ones.
Because of masking, I have been reaching for all my liquid matte lipsticks b/c they are transfer-proof. I love Joah Watt-a-Matte in “Pink Velvet,” and Sephora Cream Lip Stain in “13-Marvelous Mauve.”
Like most of the last year, I barely touched any lipstick this spring.
Colorless lip balm. We’re still masking up .
Colored balm or gloss! In my office we mask in the common areas but not in our work group (we have our own suite of offices and are all vaxxed), so it’s a lot of mask on, mask off all day. So I want something with color on my lips but not something that will get all over the mask if I’m not careful as I put it on. (The kind of mask I wear doesn’t touch my lips unless I’m not careful as I put it on.)
This particular spring? Dry-down matte lipsticks due to mask wearing. Because even though I’m fully vaxxed, I don’t drive and public transportation requires a mask to board.
Now, if and when things return to normal, lush creams like MAC Amplified or UD Cream formula. Also, satins work out well, too!
I usually wear something that is hydrating but leaves a bit of a stain behind like my YSL Rouge Couture apply then blot.
I use disposable filters inside my mask and II’m careful putting it on and off so it doesn’t really touch my lipstick.
After the mask mandate is lifted I’ll return to full coverage hydrating cream lipsticks.
Always the same – creamy, hydrating lipsticks with a bit of a sheen.
Lately it’s been a formula called a serum but seems to be a serum / balm / slight stain: IT Cosmetics JNSQ lip serum (the newish one that you click to get the serum / balm out of) in the color Naturally Pretty. Confusing name but so far the product doesn’t transfer onto masks and makes my lips look healthier and less dehydrated. I still use Melt lip liners, liquid mattes and matte lipsticks from various companies but like most people here, I’ve been more interested in comfort, treatment and anything that doesn’t mess up my masks.
Sephora Cream Lip Stain and Tarte Tartist Lip Paint. I have to have color and these hold up under a mask. I wear lip balm under them so my lips don’t dry out. Honestly, I have tried everything. I mean everything, and these are the best for looking good when the mask comes off.
Glossy, comfortable nude shades. I don’t wear lipstick when I wear a mask, but at home or if I’m not getting out of the car on a trip out, I do like to wear a comfortable lipstick. It’s one of my favorite makeup items.
