We appreciate enthusiasm for new releases but ask readers to please hold questions regarding if/when a review will be posted as we can't commit to or guarantee product reviews. We don't want to set expectations and then disappoint readers as even products that are swatched don't always end up being reviewed due to time constraints and changes in priorities! Thank you for understanding!

A couple of years back I started applying foundation with my fingers and I never looked back.

For the longest time, I have been loving the Real Techniques Beauty Sponge for foundation application. However, I may need to rethink that, and give my little Sephora foundation brush another go. Especially for waterproof foundation, as mine just aren’t applying as evenly with a damp sponge as I would like.
I switch off between Sephora #56 and MAC #170 every two days (three days if I’m feeling really lazy).
Brush; too many to say there’s one favorite. I can use anything from the fat flat paint brush type of foundation brush to a rounded flat synthetic one. I have stopped using sponges, even it they may help you have a quick natural look. I think they use up too much product and they take too much water to clean.
To apply my foundation, I just use my fingers – I rub the required amount of foundation on my fingertips and gently apply it to my cheeks first and then to the rest of my face.
Shiseido used to make a slightly angled flat topped kabuki type foundation brush with a short, stubby handle and I’m so glad I got a few of them because they’ve been replaced with a synthetic version. I love it for all liquid foundations and for CC creams.
My fingers never failed me. I sometimes will go over everything with a Real Techniques sponge with a bit of setting spray.
It depends on the foundation, but usually a beauty blender type sponge.
Beauty Blender, never looked back after first trying it. I did try the other brand copies of it but none beat the original BB.

To start with, then fingers and sponges and other brushes. It all depends on formula.
