What is your most versatile eyeliner?

What is your most versatile eyeliner? What color is it? Why?

Urban Decay Stash — it’s a dirty olive/green kind of color, so it’s neutral but not quite. Also have found many excuses to wear Tarina Tarantino Spark of Envy, which is teal 🙂

I’m really liking UD Mushroom – it’s this gorgeous brown kinda neutral but just a little different. But although I have a ton of eyeliners I rarely wear any, mostly because I’m all thumbs with it and can never seem to get it right. Tips welcome (the problem mostly is that I’m really blind without my glasses and need to be about an inch away from the mirror to see what I’m doing, plus my hands are not the steadiest in the world).

My mother has the same eyesight problem, and the only thing that has helped her short of wearing contacts was a super-magnifying mirror. Try to rest your elbow on something (a surface or even hold it up with your other hand), I find that helps with the shakiness.

I love Mushroom too! It’s light enough that I can use it on the top and bottom lashlines without feeling like I’m overdoing it for day, and the color is such a perfect neutral on fair skin. I hope they make it permanent! If you don’t already have it, the eyeshadow is also super useful and pretty.

I pretend that there are dots along my under eye and upper one, so what I do is just connecting those dots. Drawing straight line in just one swipe of the liner made me nervous, so there were lots of mistakes.

MAC Technakohl in Uniform. It’s a coppery-olive shade that works surprisingly with my fair (with yellow undertone) Asian skin. It also complements a variety of eyeshadow colours. Must have used up 8-9 of these to date.

GOSH Metallic Brass. It’s dark brown but with no trace of red and it has a sort of bronzey sheen to it. It is such a perfect pencil.

That was the first one that came to mind for me as well! I’m not a black eyeliner person and this is a wonderful alternative. I also use it before all the browns I have too, even for a softer look.

Ruby and Millie Grey (Discontinued :-()

For ages it they were the only people who did a decent grey eyeliner. great pigmentation, soft but held a point, lasted all day and then some but not hard to remove, it was a gem.

Softer than black, it still is my got to when I wanted to provide more definition but not make a ‘thing’ of my eyeliner, and it would smudge so I could do an ultra quick eye when I need to.

Luckily other brands do grey now so when I need a new one I’ll get to try those instead.

I don’t wear any eyeliner, except any kind black liquid for doing a cat eye look. Putting actually colours in my waterline scares me. I also find it looks so dark and kind of gothic because I’m so pale.

I can’t wait to finally get my hands on Spark of Envy next week! I love teal eyeliners too and I don’t own a good dupe of that one (thanks to your teal eyeliner swatching you just did). I find myself using Urban decay Whiskey a lot, it’s a nice medium brown that goes with purples, greens and browns.

UD Underground, beyond a doubt. I don’t remember what I used before Underground! UD Stray Dog is a close second – wish they’d make it permanent.

Urban Decay Rockstar liner pencil, especially if you have green or hazel eyes. Lately, I am also loving Tarte’s skinny SmolderEyes in Golden Tigeris Eye. This is the most gorgeous reddish brown. If I’m in a hurry, I now reach for this one the most because it will compliment any look.

Milani eye tech extreme liquid eye liner, the point is very thin and not at all floppy. Depending on how I hold the pen, I can get a thick or thin line, it’s great for the cat eye look which is my favorite.

I have a mexican brand one thats called Tintaline and the silver color is amazing for highlighting =) Wish you could try it! It was formulated in Germany its sooo comparable to UD 24/7 liner and its so darn cheap!!!!

MAC Rich Ground fluidline but that’s because I’m a redhead and the coppery shade almost exactly matches my hair color. So it reads as a neutral I can wear with any color and makes my eyes look bluer.

Mine’s actually a pencil liner, but until I bought this one I have hated pencil liners. It’s L’oreal’s Voluminous Smoldering Eyeliner in Brown. It looks beautiful on blue eyes. It’s actually a very dark brown/black that looks amazing on my eyes and truly lasts all stinking day! It’s a very chubby pencil with a fine tip but can be glided along the lash line on its side for a thicker line. This thing blows UD liners, and all the others I own, out of the water, of which I’ve already got several and really regret buying.

For somebody who hates pencil liners, I sure do own a lot! What a waste of money!

UD Underground. I’m very fair and neutral toned (not really cool or warm) and this goes with everything without making me look overly made up. It’s also very forgiving if I’m in a hurry in the morning and can’t get it absolutely perfect.

Urban Decay Stray Dog. Love it! It is a bit taupe, a bit grey, so goes nicely with just about anything I wear regularly. Brown, taupe, lavender, silvery grey, violets, you name it! Love it, and Mushroom comes in second!

It’s not precisely an “eyeliner” but Milani Shadoweyez pencil in Champagne Toast. It’s great alone as a shadow, as an eyeshadow base, inner corner or browbone highlight, waterline liner, even a highlighter for your face. Creamy and easy to blend, stays put all day, and a nice neutral shimmer that goes with everything.
