I like Tom Ford’s Neroli Portofino a lot, but I don’t think I’d say I have a go-to!

I guess that generic beach sunscreen scent would be mine *g* I like citrus scents in the summer, bright and tart, but I can’t wear them. Right now I’m using Korres’ Basil Lemon shower gel and it smells fantastic; I wish I could wear it as a perfume but that would involve a) there being a perfume and b) me being able to tolerate wearing it. Although there is a body lotion, so…hmm.

Cacharel Lou Lou; it’s been my “signature” scent for 25+ years, so I guess it’s safe to say it’s my “go-to”, LOL. I don’t wear it as much as I’d like, only because it’s a PITA to procure. My “fall-back”, however, is Tea Rose, although I will pick up different perfumes every so often. Like my makeup, I don’t do “seasons”, but I will go lighter. On *really* hot days, I may just dab on an essential oil.

I never really have a go-to! I like switching my perfumes often. I suppose I’m just more likely to pick perfumes with citrus in them during summer months. But I’ll cycle between everything I own with frequency during the year. Perhaps I just haven’t found my perfect summer fragrance yet!

I don’t have a go to scent, I’m always trying new things out. At the moment I am wearing Gucci Flora, it is lovely, perfect for spring.

Usually I’d say coconut oil and sweat ๐Ÿ˜‰ But for the past month or so I’ve been in MAD LOVE with the combo of Estee Lauder’s classic Bronze Goddess fragrance blended with Tom Ford’s Tuscan Leather. Tuscan Leather is the one he picked to smell like “cocaine and men’s crotch.” Mix that with Lauder’s own fragrance-version of post-coital bed sheets, steeped in sun-soaked bodies covered in sunscreen (my description, not their’s haha). It makes for a pretty sexy combo! LOVE IT!

tzwiggy Avatar

Don’t mean to sound rude her, but why would someone want a perfume to smell like men’s crotch o.O That sounds so appalling to me and just doesn’t make any sense. At least the bronze goddess part sounds okay, lol.

Shannon Avatar

It’s not so much the literal smell of “cocaine and men’s crotch” that Tom Ford is trying to convey, it’s the experience. Evoking imagery and sensations gives greater weight to the emotion that is tied to the fragrance.

My favorite everyday is a simple cologne-I use it as a body spray. Royal Violets by Augustin Reyes. It is such a light, powdery, and relaxing floral. I read about it in a magazine, and was unable to find it for 2 years. Finally showed up at Wal-Mart. Its marketed for babies, but since I don’t use cologne on babies, I use it for myself. My non-overpowering for summer is always going to be Pleasures- Estee Lauder. Yes, I love floral. <3.

Kate Avatar

Exact same response as you, Christine. I don’t have one specific fragrance that I turn to during the summer, but the first one that leaps to mind is Neroli Portofino.

Spork Avatar

Any of Escada’s limited edition perfumes. They’re perfect for the summertime!
I was so happy that they released Rockin’ Rio! That’s my favorite out of them all!

Donna Avatar

For Office/Day: Chanel No.19 Poudre

For Weekend/Casual: Fresh Pink Jasmine (though increasingly hard to find)

For Evening: Creed Virgin Island Water

I’m not a fragrance person at all, but in the last week I’m feeling more open to it haha. I heard Fleur de Force (on YouTube) talk about the Fresh Sugar Lychee fragrance – and she may have sold me on it. I’m going to try and check it out the next time I’m shopping!

Sasha Avatar

Not a big change from Spring scents but thus far D&G Light Blue and Marc Jacobs Dot (hubby’s fav and I live in FL so it gets a lot of use…)

Though I just recently picked up Jo Malone’s LE Osmanthus perfume and I’m liking that. I also tried and was given a sample of their orange blossom perfume. At first it was way too sweet but after it settled down, it was really lush and I could almost feel the pollen in my nose when I smelled it. That may be one of my next purchases… (or at the very least perhaps I should try more orange blossom).

Maya Avatar

Chanel chance (Eu tendre and Eu fraiche), DG light blue, Marc J’s Daisy and my recent love …Jo Malone’s english pear and freesia.

Hazel Avatar

Carthusia- Mediterraneo: It feels like a hot sunny day in Capri

I also love Eau d’Italie- Eau d’Italie: It also smells like a warm day on a lovely Roman patio.

Parfumerie Generale: Bois Naufrage: Driftwood and fig, what’s not to love?

You might be able to tell I’m just the plaything of a certain on-line and boutique fragrance store that makes me very Lucky!

Gena Avatar

I like Marc Jacobs Daisy in the summer, Mariah Carey Luscious Pink, Bobbi Brown Beach, several Victoria’s Secret Body Mists: Midnight Dare, Hello Darling, Endless Love, Sweet Temptation, and Simply Breathless. ๐Ÿ˜‰

Pamela Avatar

I love Estee’s Bronze Goddess and Beyond Paradise for summer. Also, JLo’s Miami Glow is very summer-y. I like anything that is tropical and lush or clean and bright for summer. Coconut is also a good bet.

Nikki Avatar

I don’t really have a go-to fragrance. I don’t indulge in perfumes or body mists; I prefer the 2-for-1 of scented lotions or body butters. At the moment, I am LOVING Soap & Glory The Righteous Butter Body Lotion! Not only is it moisturizing while being light-weight, it smells heavenly!!! I get compliments on my fragrance and inquiries about what I’m wearing all the time since I started using it. It is the perfect feminine scent!

Laura Avatar

I gravitate towards light, floral scents in the summer. My favorites are Marc Jacobs Oh, Lola, Chanel Chance Eau Tendre, Gucci Envy Me, and Satu Poppy Showers (I always imagine this is what French babies smell like).

Jess Avatar

BPAL’s Hurricane and Sea of Glass are my go-to hot weather scents, they’re gorgeous light aquatics (Hurricane is more ozone-y, SoG more floral-ish) but both have really good staying power.

tzwiggy Avatar

I like Burberry Brit Sheer for summer. It’s light and fresh and won’t give me a headache even when the weather is warm. I usually prefer something oriental/spicy/gourmand, but I can’t tolerate those scents in extreme heat.

Sarah Avatar

Estee Lauder Bronze Goddess, Pacifica Tahitian Gardenia (more in the spring, really), and their Waikiki Pikake (again, more spring). The EL BG is definitely the scent of summer for me; may throw in Robert Piguet’s Fracas (just a touch) if I have a big event. I play with the Ormonde Jayne’s from my sampler pack, but Osmanthus, Frangipani and Isfarkand are more often used in summer. (Still need Tiare.)

Mirian Avatar

Something with orange blossom! I have a few i’m rotating right now, but i think the front runner for the summer will be L’artisan seville a’laube

Sarah Avatar

I really like Gwen Stefani’s LAMB perfume, the square one with the gold top and red/yellow/green bottle. I don’t know if it’s even made anymore, but to me, it’s sort of sweet, flowery, and fresh but still somewhat warm. My favourite scent is The Body Shop’s Love etc., but I find it’s just too heavy to wear year-long (it smells just like chai tea to me).

Viv Avatar

Definitely Citron Citron my Miller Harris – the name says it all really. I love citrus scents in the summer. Miller Harris make all my favourite perfumes actually ๐Ÿ™‚

Lauren Avatar

I don’t know that I have a go-to. I really tend to use Bath and Body Works body spray in Coconut Lime in the summer. I also like Jennifer Aniston. Never thought I would, but I tried it in a fragrance sampler and it’s a great summer sent. For work, I like to wear either Coach Poppy Flower or Versace Bright Crystal once spring hits.

Terri Avatar

Oh, I just got Neroli Portofino and I love it. I got a free sample from Nordstrom and forgot about it for a bit and just found it and tried it….it was love at first smell. I debated about the price but after reading your post about it I decided to just go for it and I am glad I did. I also got the oil, which I love but is not as good as the perfume. My wallet doesn’t thank you but I do!!!

Aida Avatar

Well, I only wear one perfume. I’ve never been a perfume person, but when I discovered Burberry Body, that was it… I’m hooked and it’s the one I wear ;). I always get complimented on my fragrance, which is nice :).

Courtney K Avatar

I love BPAL’s Spooky for summer, which is odd because it’s a fall/winter scent. On me, it smells like minty coconut cake. Mint is very refreshing in summer and I always get compliments.

alyson Avatar

i love escada but their lasting power isn’t worth the price so i do not use too often.. i usually wear bath and body works body sprays in the summer

tyler Avatar

Off the top of my head these are very good in warm weather…
Comme des Garรงons Vettiveru
Hermรจs Eau d’Orange Verte
Le Labo Tubereuse 44
Xerjoff Kobe
Mugler Cologne
Humiecki & Graef Eau Radieuse
Guerlain Mouchier de Monsieur
Frederic Malle Bigarade Concentree
Dior Granville
Dior Diorella
Nicolai Week-end a Deauville
Parfums DelRae Bois de Paradis
So many!!

I think for summer it’s D&G Light Blue – Dreaming In Portofino. I bought it last summer and it just smells amazing. My “signature” scent that I wear most of the time though is Vera Wang – Lovestruck. It just lasts all day on my skin.

VickyM Avatar

Right now Iยดm in love with the new perfume from Ysl, the name of which escapes me at the moment, I also love Chanel mademoiselle and Chance, Aqua di gioia, and Mac Turquatic. I think the two last ones really are great for summer since they have this light, watery sweet and soft scent, that really bring a memory of the ocean ๐Ÿ˜€ .
