I haven’t worn enough “Western” eye shadows to have formed a new opinion. I am definitely enjoying using the Asian type of eye shadow that doesn’t have as much pigmentation with the first swipe and in general, has mostly soft colors. My current favorites are Flower Knows and Florasis. I don’t have difficulty in blending them out and they provide just the right amount of color for my older eye lids. I use to love the old MAC formula and still use many of them, with Omega being my favorite. I use to use it about every day either to sculpt or in the crease for a bit of shadow.

AB is great, esp for the ends of the age continuum. The m/u seems to be the antithesis of US ideals. US= PIGMENT Uber alles. The Asian aesthetic is subtle, more sheer, more ethereal. Yes, the models look like pore-free 11 year olds, but here Mahomes and Allen (QBs) look as if they’re stars in Pop Warner. I have little AB m/u, but almost strictly AB skincare. The Saem concealer, 3CE blush and color family lipstick sets, and some eye from Clio Kill, lol) Etude, Innisfree, etc. Good stuff.

Yes, I am pretty much using AB skincare and makeup now. I haven’t completely given up Western makeup but do need to build my stash back up after a huge declutter. I am using a lot of Haruharu Wonder Line, Isntree, Celimax and Josean skincare with a little Adipeau and TruAlchemy. I am currently shopping for a new treatment for my hyperpigmentation because the only product that I am using for that is the TruAlchemy Retinol Reset and their Glow which is their Vitamin C serum. I don’t love either although mostly because I really hate the smell of the Retinol Reset. I have seen a barage of YT videos and hype about the Dermelect but haven’t given in to the temptation yet.

I haven’t heard of Flower Knows or Florasis but w-o-w do they have their marketing down pat! I want an eyeshadow palette just to display on my desk!

Yes, their presentation is beautiful. I didn’t know what to expect and since I had not worn makeup for about 3 years and my skin had changed a lot during that time, I decided to give the Asian makeup brands a go. I am almost 70 so while I still love the hyperpigmented Western shadows, I accept that the less pigmented shadows actually look better on my older eyes. I had always known that AB brands go for a much more subtle look and something about that appeals to me now. I love the packaging and like you, would want it just to leave out on my vanity!

Makeup Geek’s original is still my favorite matte shadow formula EVER. I really like Lorac’s matte shadow still too.
For newer brands, I would say I reach for my Dandy Lions and Sydney Grace mattes the most but Devinah makes amazing mattes as well.

Someone is soon going to start wondering whether I work for Suqqu because that seems to be my answer to every question, but I think their mattes are the easiest to blend, buildable, and it is very easy to get the desired instensity. Even if I apply a thinner layer, it will never be patchy. It’s Japanese beauty, so a lot softer look than Pat McGrath for example, but by no means lacking pigment.
