What highlighter did you used to love but no longer does it for you?

Cle de Peau Luminizers – they’re still really lovely, but I find I reach for so many others, and for the price, I should be wanting to reach for it ALL the time.

Maybe the old Becca liquid ones but I still love the one(s) I have even though they’re getting very old (like me) and sort of past their “sell by” date. Considering that I rarely wear highlighter, I still maintain a strong, nostalgic affection for all the ones I own.

Becca’s Prosecco Pop. I used to want to bathe in that stuff! I loved the look! Now, I’m so over it. Having said that, it seems like Becca is going out of business, are they going out of business?
If so, I think that’s really regretful. They have done an incredible lot of awesome products. I still have all their color-shifting highlighters that can be used as eyeshadow, too. Years ahead of their time!
Now my favorite highlight is Pat McGrath’s Rose one. Don’t know the name, just comes in a box covered in pink roses, in a pink metallic compact, and is that pink and gold shift that I love so much, I think I have bought it from every brand, lmao. I also love Show Gold. I am still chasing that shade of gold from that little pan in NARS Foreplay, one of my first makeup purchases….

E.l.f. Baked Highlighters used to be favorites back in the day, but I got into more intense HLs, funky colors, and duo- and multi- chromes.

I’m not into ColourPop SS highlighters much anymore either, though I think they’re really good and more interesting than most budget brands’ selections. I just have so many gorgeous powder HLs that I consider more unique and fun to wear.

I’ve dabbled with a plethora of highlighters over the years, but one that comes to mind is the infamous Benefit High Beam. This once-beloved highlighter was a staple in my makeup bag, but over time, my feelings toward it have shifted. While the liquid formula and pearlized finish create a beautiful sheen, I’ve come to realize that it’s simply too shimmery for my liking. These days, I opt for more subtle, natural-looking highlighters that enhance my features without screaming “look at me.” Don’t get me wrong, I’m all for a little extra sparkle, but there’s a fine line between glowing goddess and disco ball. Sometimes less is more, and in the case of High Beam, it just doesn’t do it for me anymore.

I have this trio of Ofra powder highlights. There’s a gold, a champagne & a pinkish color. I loved them when I 1st got them. But now they r just too like, bold for me now. I still use them for a bit of inner corner highlight, but no longer on my cheeks. And Anastasia Moon Child glow kit palette was my “going out” go to too. My Hourglass trio, Ambient Lighting, is more my current, subtle style.

MAC Soft n Gentle. I loved it for ages, then it began looking, oh, I don’t know, at times too silvery, then too pink….thought it was just ‘going old’ and bought a fresh one and it did the same. And so I passed it on to a friend who loves it. It was a keeper for years though.

Becca Shimmering Skin Perfecter in Opal but then I switched to Chanel Baume Essentiel Stick in Sculpting. Chanel Baume Essentiel Stick in Rosee and Charolette Tilbury Pinkgasm both work as a highlighter and blush.
